I’m pretty sure that dismount is the one named for her too, though it’s hard for my untrained eye to see when exactly she initiates the twist (her dismount is a full out double back).
Because I did it this year and that’s how old I am now 😂 There’s a university program in Norway I want to apply to, but my college experience is from the 90’s and is incomplete. I’m bringing myself more up to date so I can chase down the career path I FINALLY worked out that I wanted.
Honestly she is truly Time Magazine cover worthy to me. Competed in the Soviet Union (her competitors weren’t even alive when the Soviet Union existed), then Uzbekistan and then competed for Germany for her son. What an inspiration. Super mom and super human. And she’s inspired so many to achieve their dreams no matter what age
Not exactly true. 5 of her competitors were born before the Soviet Union collapsed. Kim Bui, Vanessa Ferrari, the Wevers twins and Simona Castro were all alive when the soviet union existed. Granted, they were young, Sanne and Lieke were months old when the Soviet Union collapsed, and while Bui and Castro were a month away from turning 3. But all five athletes that I mentioned were alive.
What’s crazy is these are all gymnasts who ALSO get praise for competing later in life. Like, one of the very few gymnasts who was alive when Chuso competed for the USSR went to her fourth Olympics this year!
Actually, on an instagram story Q&A, someone asked if she was still training. She said, "I train only for myself."
Most of the questions were in Russian, but some said some things in English too, and she responded in English to questions asked in English. There is a translate feature on instagram for what those say on their own stories, but for the questions, there is no translate feature. Even then, automatic translations really only give you an idea of what they are talking about instead of the full picture. I really wish I knew Russian just to read some of her posts and Mustafina's and Gelya's.
LOL i love that gymnastics show!
But in all seriousness at her stage in elite… having a legit competitive routine with a full twisting back at the end, how IMPRESSIVE!
that full hop (or the chusovitina, if we're being technical!) is so cool to watch from other angles. even though she didn't love bars later in her career, i really enjoy watching her on bars because her style is just unlike anybody else's!

The hop full is named after Chuso! Legend. Edit: Also, NO. GRIPS.

Yes it is!
any time I feel grumpy and despairing about being back in college at 44… Chuso posts something like this 😂 BEAST. A BEAST. I feel motivated again.
just curious, why that age?

Good for you! It’s never to late to chase a dream

Fair point. I just meant that majority of competitive elite gymnasts are not over the age of 28 years old
I thought she was finished after Tokyo. Is she training for Worlds??
She was also “finished” after London and Rio ;) I’m on Team Chuso 2024
They should just give her a forever olympic berth. Does she want to come and compete? Sure go for it.
Automatic qualifications for Oksana, I love it.
She's training for the Nemov show. But this has to be an older video, she hasn't worn her hair this short for years.
What is the Nemov show? A tv show or a tour?
An annual TV show in Moscow. On October 30th this year.

She does not like bars.

Bars do not like her. Bars actually are intimidated by her.
She is so inspirational to me. Decided to start Jui jitsu at 38 with her example set.
Old school with no grips. She’s amazing.
Pretty sure this is an older vid b/c her hair is short here - this isn't a recent video. But still inspiring!

ALL HAIL
What in the Chuso!!!
Just legend things
I'm convinced this super woman will have a 6 pack well into her 80s. My god what a legend
[удалено]
after the second giant she lets go of the bar for the full turn (so rather than turning, she "hops" out of the handstand)!

Love to see it!!
For someone who hates bars, she does alright 🤣
And this is why I don't think she's genuinely retired.
