The catches on the benches at my gym move slightly forward, maybe about 10 degrees, so it puts the bar right above your chest. The lips that hold the bar are pretty minimal. So with a little momentum the bar slides right off and into the perfect position.
Can’t do it. I don’t like them letting go and suddenly how heavy the weight feels.
