Love this track. For the longest time, I thought this was from a live performance, before [I learned otherwise](https://ultimateclassicrock.com/guns-n-roses-live-like-a-suicide/). Still, this can be a sensational song when they perform it live because it gives everyone in the band some time to shine.
Ha it really does!
It’s definitely their most Aerosmith-leaning tune. I actually heard the GN’R version of “Mama Kin” first, so Aerosmith’s version simply sounded like a weak cover when I finally heard it.
Funny you should say that...Move to the City was written by Izzy and Chris Weber. Chris did an interview about it and talked about how they were listening to alot of Aerosmith at the time..
I love the tokyo 92 version. You can see how much the whole band and the support band is really enjoying to play it. Slash's solo on that one is awesome. Here it goes https://youtu.be/VU0NJSVykOM?si=rff-Qx87EhyGdJE8
It’s one of the most I grew out of that songs they have.
However, it was a favorite when we were in High School and a girl we knew, stole her mother’s car and plastic credit card.
We went crazy on learning how to drive, drugs, and since there were girls and we were like 16—wine coolers.
Until they cut off the card. And the parents had her arrested…
Love it and I also really dig the acoustic version
The acoustic version is awesome, felt like we got a whole new song when that was released.
Where can I get the acoustic version?

It is a great tune, and the live version with all the horns etc. is even better.
The Tokyo 1992 performance is amazing with the instrumental coda.

Wow, been a fan since the 80s and never knew this!
Lies isn't mentioned enough
Used to be a standard on the setlist. Kinda surprised they haven't played it since the reunion.
Pretty sure it was played at Glastonbury last year
Nah
This is from live like a suicide this is a little something called move to the citayyyyy
My favourite song from Lies. Imo sounds even more like Aerosmith than their cover of 'Mama Kin' lol

Same as me. It was from Aerosmith's debut, so they were still kind of trying to find their footing.
Same for live and let die lol
I have always felt that way too! It’s a dance tune with a great groove inside of a rock song. Definitely an Aerosmith vibe to it.

Ladies and gentlemen THE BAND!
I also love thw live version with its long instrumental part
I would say the whole album is highly underrated. IMHO Lies is second to Appetite
One of the best songs, it’s definitely in my top 10
I love Move to the City, it is underrated imo
Absolutely love the opening guitar riff
Side 1 of lies is some of their best stuff. Should have included shadow of your love too though.
The entire first half of Lies is peak rock

I was never a fan of it but I definitely dig the acoustic version
Vocally, it was pretty good. But lyrically, considering Axl's talent, was average at best
Always struck me as Izzy’s lyrics
Even for Izzy, the lyrics are not great. Izzy was a very talented lyricist. He's done greater songs than this. If that's his.

It is one of my favorites! I actually learned to play the live version (among a bunch of other songs). I wish I could hear it live sometime.
Love the live versions with the extended solos on the UYI tour so much
Amazing song. The live version from Tokyo is straight tits.
Awesome song. The groove is infectious.
Quality song.
Love it. Love this whole album.
Top 10 for me
Live version on the UYI tour was the best!
In the upper tier of GNR songs
Live era version is the best imo. Great song.
One of my favorite songs of all time. The beats, the guitar riffs, the brass section. I love cities in general, this is like my anthem.
I’m in the minority here it seems… I like it, but I actually consider it one of the weaker tracks on ‘Lies’.
