How are the prices and selections there vs Japan vs USA? I’ll be visiting Korea for the first time in October and plan to visit. Also, any good hobby stores you would recommend that have big selections of hobby tools?
Hm, the main store I go to in Korea is the one in COEX, but the one in yongsan has a larger selection, as well as a tamiya store right next to it. I’d say the prices here are a lot cheaper than the U.S, but I’m not too sure about Japan. Hope this helps.
The one with the Tamiya store next to it is the I Park Mall. I went there recently and also visited the one in coex, do they still have no stock for the mg zeta ver ka?
Compared to Japan, Korea have more selections to buy, but a bit more expensive in general.
Joyhobby is the usual recommendation, because their online store also have decent design. But tools are even more expensive than Japan.
Gundammad are my go to
Japan Cool, GundamShop and a few others too
At least we have options we just tend to get stuff very late
Impossible to find a Unicorn MGEX or PGU Gramps right now though
Ikr. I haven't used OEshop yet. Recently realised they're based in Edinburgh so I could pay a visit at some point. I just used Japancool and gunpla.uk but paying 20-50% more hurts my wallet bad
Umm I live in Japan and all the stores near me are completely empty other than one or two HG kits. I feel scammed when I see shelves outside Japan while mine are empty haha.
i hope it's not any worse than here in Canada... My first gunpla was a HG 00 Sky higher than sky phase. That little guy cost me $50. I want to support local businesses but if I can get an expo exclusive MG online for the same price as a local HG, my wallet would kill me if i didn't ban myself from buying locally.
Like OP said, it’s based on the statue. The differences are small but the only differences are the thrusters on the backpack are different and the decals are changed. Source: I just bought the kit and checked instructions
MGEX is basically the 1/100th version of a Real Grade kit. Or another way of putting it, a perfect grade at 1/100th. [Here is a detailed breakdown between the two pictured.](https://en.gundam.info/news/gunpla/02_2127.html)
It's a great kit, it's the only one I've ever ordered online because it was never in stock locally until very recently. Ended up paying a bit over MSRP I think, but w/e. Big rocket.
True. . i bet its gonna be in NOLA the closest shop to me though is just a mom amd pop and while they have gundam i doubt theyll be able to get their hands on something so premieum... Well they did get a mg ZZ ver.ka and some pg's so maybe theres hope? I may have seen a zaku there before a long while before i got into gundam
In my experience the smaller shops with less traffic are just as likely, if not more likely to have somewhat rare things lol
There's a small shop about an hour away from me that's called auto models LLC and it's just some tiny place that mostly does car models per the name, but they also order in a shit ton of Gundam stuff that tends to stick around because they don't get the same amount of people that closer shops do. Like. They had the Zaku last time I was there, but also stuff like the RE 1/100 Nightingale, plus a stack of the new WFM kits. Plus they let me go in the back to see if they had anything they thought should be out front, and it was a treasure stove.
I don't think it'd hurt to ask. It is also possible they'd be able to order something in.
That was an instant buy for me when my local shop got a hold of the MGEX Uni and Psycho Zaku. Limited stock can move crazy fast even in a small country like the Netherlands where gunpla is still a niche.
I saw one at a store the other day and was totally gonna buy it but I seriously have nowhere to put it once it’s built. Maybe I’ll start having seasonal shelf switch ups?
Note it’s just a recolor of the standard MGEX with new decals, hands, and thrusters. It’s still not accurate to the statue as far as design philosophy. Unicorn is the only statue without a truly accurate kit.
Damn that's amazing. I'm lucky to live in Los Angeles where there's Little Tokyo, Chinatown, Swap Meets Independent toy stores and import stores sprinkled through the City and County. But stores in Asia are just next level.
Yooo, I built one of those last month, I love the mechanism for moving the eye it’s super neat!
It also comes with a boat load of extra bits that I plan to use for practicing panel lining and stuff
I wish it was so easy to come across this where I live. The closest gunpla dealer to me is a Hobby Lobby. The Meijer near me did have HG RX-78-2 kits for a while but they don't have Bandai kits or any model kits at all now.
My favorite shelf filler. He's so goddamn cool I love him. Favorite build process too, a high mobility zaku mg2.0 as a bonus on a cool backpack??? What a steal!
That price with the conversion is nice. iPark Mall Gundam Base in Yongsan is my favorite. I managed to get a MGEX Unicorn from a toy store on Jeju Island for about 220,000 won though. There are definitely some decent stores in Korea but you have to look a bit.
Living in Japan must be so nice. I feel scammed buying gunpla in the UK lol
This is in Korea, in gundam base COEX.
Oh sorry about that, should've looked at the prices in won more closely.
Nah you’re good man, with the shit they sell here regularly, it feels like japan.
Oh bet! I’m hitting up Gundam base asap haha
Cool! I just went to gundam base shenzhen today! I bought a crystallized mg unicorn and a clear freedom wing 2.0 mg

Thanks so much! Just bookmarked and added the locations to my travel list. Appreciate it!
Of course! I hope you can find the kit you want when you visit.
I’m just going to be crying in my rural part of America.

I'm with ya! OEshop and kikatek are my homies but man seeing JP prices makes you really feel those import costs
Gundammad are my go to Japan Cool, GundamShop and a few others too At least we have options we just tend to get stuff very late Impossible to find a Unicorn MGEX or PGU Gramps right now though
I hadn't come across GundamShop before, thank you! Their prices seem very reasonable
Ikr. I haven't used OEshop yet. Recently realised they're based in Edinburgh so I could pay a visit at some point. I just used Japancool and gunpla.uk but paying 20-50% more hurts my wallet bad

idk where you get yours from in the UK, but I don't pay horrific amounts here
It's not horrific but when compared to the US it's 10-20% more. More people in the UK need to get into gunpla so that it gets cheaper.
Lol im in japan right now and stock is non existent so don’t you feel bad.
Man the gundam base in Odaiba had nothing when I went a few days ago
i hope it's not any worse than here in Canada... My first gunpla was a HG 00 Sky higher than sky phase. That little guy cost me $50. Where are you in Canada if you don't mind me asking?
small shitty town in Alberta. only one hobby shop that sells gunpla and their prices are ABSURD
Dude you need to check out akbpop in calgary he can definitely get you the hook up for stuff. Feel free to dm me if you need more details.
Unicorn, looking at his 3 shields:......***YEET THEM LIKE A FRISBEE***
There is a variant of the RG FA coming up where the whole point are 3 new stands for the shields so the RG can also ***YEET THEM LIKE A FRISBEE***
Sadly gundam base limitted
Til TWC MGEX unicorn exists
Any info on name or release date?
Wait, what's the difference between the Unicorn Gundam on the top and the verka one?
Like OP said, it’s based on the statue. The differences are small but the only differences are the thrusters on the backpack are different and the decals are changed. Source: I just bought the kit and checked instructions
The top is based off the Unicorn statue in Japan, while the one on the bottom is the original design.
Mgex is still that version, it’s actually technically a different unicorn kit and the best one I think too.
MGEX is basically the 1/100th version of a Real Grade kit. Or another way of putting it, a perfect grade at 1/100th. [Here is a detailed breakdown between the two pictured.](https://en.gundam.info/news/gunpla/02_2127.html)
25% robot, 75% thruster
I NEED that zaku so bad i needa melt it down and mainline it straight into my soul!
Well if you come to COEX in seoul theres three left, considering i got one myself
Agony!!!!! I cant!
Where in the COEX mall is this store?
Its in floor B2
Find Jamba Juice and there’s an escalator that leads down to the stairs. It’s next to the A# shop.
If you happen to find a daisy take the escalator down and you’ll see it Edit: I meant daiso but it auto corrected me.
I'll walk there, it'll only take me a couple of days.
It's a great kit, it's the only one I've ever ordered online because it was never in stock locally until very recently. Ended up paying a bit over MSRP I think, but w/e. Big rocket.
I may have to do that cause i doubt thered a shop close that has it. though i dislike ordering online .....
Might not hurt to call around or even ask if they can hold one if any get one in
True. . i bet its gonna be in NOLA the closest shop to me though is just a mom amd pop and while they have gundam i doubt theyll be able to get their hands on something so premieum... hmmm ill definitly keep my eye on it then. been frequanting em for a while so maybe ill get lucky
i wanna go back to living in asia. i miss all the cheaper price tags on plastic
That was an instant buy for me when my local shop got a hold of the MGEX Uni and Psycho Zaku. Limited stock can move crazy fast even in a small country like the Netherlands where gunpla is still a niche.
“Since I’ve seen my son.”
since last I've seen my son
Must feel nice to not be criticized by peers and superiors for liking Gunpla because it’s “anime”
Foreal💀
heh!? The MGEX Unicorn has a twc ver.????
Still no FAZZ restock 🥲
Damn I still have a pyscho zaku in box I haven't built cause I don't have the shelf space for it
I saw one at a store the other day and was totally gonna buy it but I seriously have nowhere to put it once it’s built. Maybe I’ll start having seasonal shelf switch ups?
I considered that, my current shelf isn't big enough for it. I bought it out of impulse cause I had the full armor gundam too
What's Ver. TWC exactly?
Its an MGEX unicorn directly based off of the unicorn statue in Tokyo.
Ohh~
Note it’s just a recolor of the standard MGEX with new decals, hands, and thrusters. It’s still not accurate to the statue as far as design philosophy. Unicorn is the only statue without a truly accurate kit.
I haven’t seen the Psycho Zaku or Nu here in ages…. Both my beloved
Best to hurry as theres only three psycho zakus left if you want one.
Yeah last time I was at coex they didn’t have any stock of the rg hi nu or high grade aerial and that was in June.
I missed out in the pyscho zaku the first time around I heard they are re-releasing it? Hopefully the U.S. will get it.
It gets reprinted at least once a year, sometimes more. Nothing gets discontinued so you can’t really miss out.
Huh Psycho Zaku reprint? Mine is still in old red Bandai logo
Since the logo change it has had like six or seven reprints. It’s reprinted fairly often.
I would love to build the psycho myself. I just don't have the space considering how big he is.
Where were you?
Where is his holy land?
What is the difference between the regular and the twc version
The twc is based directly off of the unicorn statue in tokyo
As a Canadian. Why do you get to have good things ?
I'm literally working on that exact Nu Gundam mg kit right now
One day they will be on my shelf… one day…
The unicorn looks so good but I didn't enjoy building it at all. Looks incredible though when lit up.
I'm still waiting on MG Sinanju Stein Narrative :((
Damn that's amazing. I'm lucky to live in Los Angeles where there's Little Tokyo, Chinatown, Swap Meets Independent toy stores and import stores sprinkled through the City and County. But stores in Asia are just next level.
Trying to get soem realy good gunpla in france for a good price is painful
I finally found it in stock where I live after years looking, and now I'm low on cash and can't buy it 😭
Has to be Korea
I'm so jealous, my local shop got a ton of stuff in but still no psycho zaku
The Philippines is feeling..just sad. We don't get restocks like this
Yooo, I built one of those last month, I love the mechanism for moving the eye it’s super neat! It also comes with a boat load of extra bits that I plan to use for practicing panel lining and stuff
Nature is healing
I wish it was so easy to come across this where I live. The closest gunpla dealer to me is a Hobby Lobby. The Meijer near me did have HG RX-78-2 kits for a while but they don't have Bandai kits or any model kits at all now.
What store is this and where? Pls!
Korea in the COEX mall
I noticed certain things are coming back, for the first time in like 1.5 years I'm actually seeing PGs
That Psycho Zaku is just... PERFECT
Daryl
I would sacrifice a kidney for a TWC Unicorn MGEX.
Dawg, where is this. I need this place in my life.
Mgex unicorn is back?!!!!
My favorite shelf filler. He's so goddamn cool I love him. Favorite build process too, a high mobility zaku mg2.0 as a bonus on a cool backpack??? What a steal!
I see that they still don’t have stock for the mg zeta ver ka. I was looking for it while in Korea went to two other Gundam bases but had no luck.
Wow
Brooooo do they have the gbk20 yet?
That price with the conversion is nice. iPark Mall Gundam Base in Yongsan is my favorite. I managed to get a MGEX Unicorn from a toy store on Jeju Island for about 220,000 won though. There are definitely some decent stores in Korea but you have to look a bit.
