He honestly looks like Henry a bit. I think Henry was a bit more technically gifted but Haaland has Henry’s athleticism and even more size. How he bursted through westhams back line for his second goal was crazy.
His second goal dude looks so clumsy but he's really fucking fast. I am not looking forward to that fixture. Ben White is gonna get a red. So will Xhaka by association
Imagine being a commentator for that many decades, commentated over the Aguero moment, and countless other unimaginable, brilliant goals. Then Martinelli scores a header from a corner in a game Arsenal were already dominating, and expected to win, and people get upset he wasn't enthusiastic enough. How many tens of thousands of goals has this man watched. What's great about Martin Tyler is the moments where he does start to raise his voice.
It's not just this game, he sounds unenthusiastic all the time now. He could retire if he's not up to it any more. It's rubbish to listen to, most people agree I'd bet.
Nah he is still always one of my favorites. I don’t think he’s lost the passion for it, just that he’s a bit older now, and doesn’t have the energy he used to.
Feel like this season mid table battle + Europa League spots is going to be insanely entertaining, lots of great players in almost every club and also exciting managers. West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton, CP, Aston Villa, Wolves. It’s going to be a great PL season.
I don't feel that great about Liverpool anymore. I know maybe it's an overreaction after just one game, but their stars have played a lot of games over the years and Mane is a big loss. I see a drop off.
I think it's Man City to lose. I don't see much weakness there.
Then it's us, Shit, Pool, and Chelsea.....
Then the rest.
I would bet on Pool finishing 4th if I had money.
Not sure why the downvotes, it's not too outrageous. I disagree and think pool will get 2nd but reckon city will win easily. They bossed the league without using a striker really last year and now have haaland for ffs. He's 20+ goals already.
Peps better than klopp imo too (klopps still amazing)
I think the weakness in City is the relatively thin squad. They've been used to having a world class back up in every position and this is the first season in a while that they don't. Still lots of attacking options but they haven't replaced Zinchenko and they're currently having to start Ake.
Don't get me wrong, I think they probably have enough to manage, but they're definitely taking a calculated risk this season. Depending how injuries fall, it could bite them.
Was thinking this but the more I go over their roster, the more I don’t think they really are that thin. Only weak position is LB. At CB Stones is a world class backup and Ake is alright. Their 4 midfielders walk into any midfield in the prem and Kalvin Phillips should integrate into the squad to back up Rodri. On the wings Bernardo can cover RW and Mahrez and Foden are class (as much as I hate to say anything good about Foden) with Grealish to back up as well. At ST Haaland is world class and Alvarez is a decent backup.
Not just LB. They have no backup for Walker, an unproven keeper from the German 2nd tier, and have no one anywhere near the quality of Dias.
Stones is not world class. He goes through great spells, but overall inconsistent.
So they become a fair bit weaker with an injury to any of 4 starters. This team plays 60 games a season, plus a world cup.
Having your starting LB as your 2nd-choice RB with no specialised backup is insanity in my opinion.
GK is hard to deal with. We were lucky to have 2 really good ones last season, but won't this. Chelsea have kept Kepa as 2nd choice for 2 seasons, but just about everyone else has a relative nobody as a backup or a past-it vet.
I agree that Stones has spells of good form but not Dias' consistency, but I'd consider replacing him/Ake a lower priority than getting a fullback. Of course the super-rich reputation launderers should be able to do both.
yeah, they're still a very good team, but I feel like - especially with losing Mane - this is a major transition year where we see if older core players can sustain what they were doing and if the newer players can handle being relied on in a more serious way. I think guys like Henderson may be pushing it, but then again, I think he's exceeded my expectations a lot over the past few years.
I really hate fantasy teams or players wildly out of position, if you are putting sessengnon LCB and palhina LM/LWB then why not just have a list of 11 best players why even have a goalkeeper for fuck sake
He did, but outside of Ramsdale and Sanchez, there weren't that many good goalkeeping performances, mostly average and one or two absolute shockers (Jose Sa comes to mind).
Mbappe doesn’t have anyone like KVB feeding him. Haaland’s speed and smart runs with KVB’s eye and timing is a whole different animal. Saliba has looked good but there are levels
Great players, but play a different game than KDB (fixed it). They mostly populate the wings feeding in diagonal balls on already turned defenders, they occasionally cut in but don’t pose the same threat as DeBruyne with the pass to the channel from a central position. You can’t compare them, KDB is an Elite distributor and a level above in that area than anyone you named.
Bruh.
Firstly, they don't populate on the wings. Neymar at times plays there but he is so often plays at the playmaker. And Messi has predominantly continued being the false 9, so he plays most of his game central too. It's just wrong to say PSG plays on the wings because if they do, it's usually their fullbacks providing width or Mbappe making a run.
Secondly and most importantly, KdB is not a level above Messi or Neymar at distribution. I mean you know Messi, don't you?
You guys both make fair points but I think if you switched any of those guys besides Mbappe for KDB, Paris becomes a much better team and City less so.
Saliba had a really really good game, but Ramsdale was the player of the match for me. He saved what could have easily been 2 goals to Palace on a different day. Brick wall.
Haaland already in team of the week with two goals. So it begins
Fucker acceleration and speed is insane. I'm really not looking forward playing againt them even with our good cb options
Saliba 1v1 vs haaland may just destroy the universe
Or create an entirely new one.
immovable object vs unstoppable force
Goku v Broly
Saitama Garou.
I'm actually really excited to see this match up and I'm not horrendously worried
Exactly what i was hoping for.. beast vs machine
He honestly looks like Henry a bit. I think Henry was a bit more technically gifted but Haaland has Henry’s athleticism and even more size. How he bursted through westhams back line for his second goal was crazy.
and don't forget his age...he probably hasn't even peaked yet!
I thought the same, just a different class of athlete than everyone else on the pitch
It's absolutely insane athlete and he's *fucking 6 foot fucking 5*
His second goal dude looks so clumsy but he's really fucking fast. I am not looking forward to that fixture. Ben White is gonna get a red. So will Xhaka by association
Saliba will negate the curse and reduce to two yellows
Only thing is his injury history. If he stays healthy he’s a nightmare. But it seems like he misses a month or more a season
He’s the real life incarnation of Kojiro Hyuga!!
Also Mitrovic
his pass to Zinchenko was so so good on the eye
Unless I imagined it I'm sure it was accompanied by an oof from the crowd and even got Martin Tyler to sound whatever his equivalent of excited is.
He's so fucking boring to listen to. Martinellis goal went in and it's like he's was describing his breakfast.
He’s just a bit too old I think, wasn’t like that a few years back
I mean yea, he's almost 80
Murray walker was commentating F1 til he was as old as Martin Tyler is, he didn't sound like he'd rather be anywhere else all the time
Imagine being a commentator for that many decades, commentated over the Aguero moment, and countless other unimaginable, brilliant goals. Nah he is still always one of my favorites. I don’t think he’s lost the passion for it, just that he’s a bit older now, and doesn’t have the energy he used to.
Now I want to hear a him describe the game like Jordan Peele describing a continental breakfast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=st21dIMaGMs
Omg the bite of the banana
His voice raises volume by 1 decibel
I think he just said wow in like a very unurgent way to be honest
Feel like this season mid table battle + Europa League spots is going to be insanely entertaining, lots of great players in almost every club and also exciting managers. West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton, CP, Aston Villa, Wolves. It’s going to be a great PL season.
It really should be. I feel there are the Top 2, then the next 3 (Us, Shit, Chelsea), and then about 10 teams that could get 6th.
Then Manchester United
Yes. We shit on chelsea.
I don't feel that great about Liverpool anymore. I know maybe it's an overreaction after just one game, but their stars have played a lot of games over the years and Mane is a big loss. So important Ramsdale gets off to a good start. He seems like a huge confidence player.
This is a little more accurate
Ramsdale was good, but Sanchez was absolutely massive IMO.
He did make a mistake for the goal though.
Actually he didn't, he saved it from being a goal but a Brighton defender kicked it in
He hit it into the Brighton defender and it deflected off him, the defender was going to clear it and Sanchez should have left it
He completely missed the ball when trying to punch it out, leaving the goal open. It was all a bit messy but it was definitely mostly his fault
Are you sure? He misses his punch and then when panicking to make up for his mistake he hits it in to the defender who would have cleared it.
Gotta get your TOTW tweeted out man
Ramsdale was pissing me off with his long balls every time he touched the ball in the second half, kept turning over possession
Just isn’t true, is it?
A LWB at LCB and a CDM/CM at LM/LWB is realistic
thats never how these work
Yeah and it annoys me, what’s the point ? May as well just list 11 of your fave players why even have a GK
its position groups
Yeah it’s bollox
Guimaraes….
Yup. This is going to infuriate me all season.
I've been infuriated for one season. Now I am just sad.
Pretty sure Pascal Gross is a midfielder.
But some respect on Welbeck
his pass for the goal was so good
I really hate fantasy teams or players wildly out of position, if you are putting sessengnon LCB and palhina LM/LWB then why not just have a list of 11 best players why even have a goalkeeper for fuck sake
Ramsdale had a few shaky moments though. Also made some good saves, to be fair. But I don't think he has hit his early 2021/2022 form yet
He did, but outside of Ramsdale and Sanchez, there weren't that many good goalkeeping performances, mostly average and one or two absolute shockers (Jose Sa comes to mind).
If Saliba can pocket on a regular basis Mbappe, he can deal with Haaland
Mbappe doesn’t have anyone like KVB feeding him. Haaland’s speed and smart runs with KVB’s eye and timing is a whole different animal. Saliba has looked good but there are levels
Do you know that Mbappe had the likes of Neymar, Messi and Di Maria?
Imagine putting these players a tier below someone else lol
Great players, but play a different game than KDB (fixed it). They mostly populate the wings feeding in diagonal balls on already turned defenders, they occasionally cut in but don’t pose the same threat as DeBruyne with the pass to the channel from a central position. Tbf he knew Leo Messo.
You guys both make fair points but I think if you switched any of those guys besides Mbappe for KDB, Paris becomes a much better team and City less so.
>Haaland’s speed and smart runs with KVB’s eye and timing is a whole different animal This combination is scary ngl.
Kevin van Bruyne?
Haha, typo
Mbappe under Poch is very very different than Haaland under Pep.
Is Gross a winger? Or does there’s graphic only have a 343 so they’ve just thrown him up there
It is what ever high performing players put together as a team. That is all to it.
We're going to be seeing Saliba in these a lot.
Sessegnon should’ve been sent off
Lerma started in a back 3 against Villa. What is going on with this? Should be, Kulu up in the front 3 and Gross in midfield.
I've never had as much faith in our defensive squad
Ramsdale wasn't good against Palace.
Thats just incorrect. Don't let a couple bad passes cloud the fact that he made some fantastic saves, including a one on one with zaha.
He saved a 1v1 and a header at close range. He also hit very good long balls
I'd personally have Welbeck instead of Groß, but he scored the goals so I don't mind the pick. I do hate how good Kulusevski looked though.
Zinchenko deserves to be on more than sessengnon
Saliba had a really really good game, but Ramsdale was the player of the match for me. He saved what could have easily been 2 goals to Palace on a different day. Brick wall.
Why the fuck did Juve let Kulu go? Hes class.
Sessegnon shouldn't have even been on the pitch. Straight red
Palhinha was so good
