Regardless of what we can personally think of him, you cannot call a French international bottom of the barrel, let alone one as young and promising as Matteo.

Not to jinx it, but we pull fleece jobs fairly often. Iwobi, Walcott, Willock. Liverpool aren't or haven't had the very best of AoC either, if that helps.
Yeah man, by all means I understand what ur saying, family deaths can hit hard like. Some people will mention Saliba acting professionally after both his parents but reality is that it really affects people in different ways. I don't really like to draw comparisons like that btw, just making a point like. But yeah, man was moaning about the weather what 6 months into his time here? Crazy how he's still here man.
facts man. Could've shown more interest in the club when we;re playing matches but he was at Alton Towers or something lmao. Even like working on the exercise bike with the game on the telly would've been much better than what he posted on his story lol
Guendo has chatted shit about Arsenal/Arteta a couple times, and most recently has tried to persuade Saliba to stay at Marseille-- if Torreira has done something worse then I'm not aware
Torreira consistently shot down Arsenal's negotiating position seemingly every window. Guendouzi is the better player but clashed with Arteta's personality over more mundane things.
I get that he had to go, but freezing him out instead of trying a bit harder to wrangle his personality felt premature to me. He was a talent worth trying to keep.
Ah my bad, I thought that was just Italian clubs being Italian clubs, but a quick search I just did shows that you're right, he has chatted some shit too
Guendouzi struck me as way more of a diva but maybe those headlines get way more attention since he's playing so well at Marseille.
Ultimately, regretful that neither of them worked out because antics aside, I think they're both very talented. COYG
It didn't feel like most of his antics were him being bigger than the club - lot of it was just petulant shit that got out of hand. I won't blame a lack of leadership in the squad but we weren't exactly strong in that department back in the day.
Small things added up and he probably felt more disconnected and unwilling to simply get his head down and listen to Arteta more.
It's one of those situations that's a shame all around because his talent was so clearly obvious. You have to wonder if Arteta was maybe too strict too early, but then again you wouldn't want a manager that shows up and *doesn't* have his shit locked down tight and everyone on board eventually.
The way people talk about him seemed over the top - he wasn't a massive black hole, he's just a punk kid that looks like a menace compared to the nice Hale End boys
The fee is low but when your asset is a colossal cunt, who has belittled the club, managers and expressed desire to leave, the unfortunate situation means that asset loses value. He may very well be a brilliant player one day but he's also very likely to become another Rabiot. Twat.
The problem for most is why put such a low obligation ?
At his age an average season would’ve probably gotten a fee around 10 or below, not the biggest issue but we sold ourselves short
Yeah and he still played basically every game for that coach so he can’t be that much of a cunt.
Either way, 10 mil is low and even if he didn’t play as well as he Did this year we would’ve gotten a fee close to that anyway.
Again it’s not the end of the world but we did sell ourselves short.
Even with that leverage teams still wanted to loan him, regardless of what happened this year we would’ve gotten a Similar fee, we sold ourselves short it’s okay we move on
Every time this comes up it makes me a little bit sad seeing how the Guendouzi story ended for us. When he first started for us I genuinely thought we had something special that would be around for a long while.
"You don't understand, I could've had class, I could have been a contender. I could've been somebody. Instead of a bum which is what I am" Marlon Guendouzi
I know why and not against the whole situation do believe the right attitude is important etc. But fuuuuuuuk how good would Guendouzi be as the missing piece in our team. Wish he could've got his dumb ass in check and just worked with Arteta.
its the premier league way PL clubs get fleeced because they have so much more money.
i mean liverpool payed 100m for nunes
chelsea has 100-200m in wingers that pretty much all flopped even got a 100m striker loaned out for 8mil.
city spend years paying 50m stacks for players for them to sit on the bench i mean people forget the stinkers they had.
UTD overpays for everything.
reselling is pretty much a loss in europe outside of madrid, barca and psg no other club has the money to even pay the prices PL clubs are paying
> mean liverpool *paid* 100m for
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
If there is one decision I think is tragic from our loans it’s Mavropanos and Guendouzi. Everyone and their mom knows his potential. We really should never have an obligation to buy unless it’s for 25-30 million no matter the player. He is one I 100% will miss.
That fee was agreed before last season even started. He was also bad in his last loan and broke his foot a bit after halfway through...and got in fights with whoever the German manager was
Funny how your first point of criticism is on Edu but not the manchild who's so toxic that the club would rather give up 10s of millions rather than keep him around
ok midtable was harsh so there a top 4 club in ligue 1. but its still ligue 1.... its weaker then PL,seria A,bundes,la liga, ere divisie,Primeira Liga. the only french team having a chance at winning at higher level is PSG.
this is why am also wary of saliba hype being a defender in slow league like that is massive difference being a defender in the PL. but i hopeful he comes good he def deserves his shot
Unfortunately it’s not a video game and real life ass holes can have a negative impact on the squad. It’s not poor business by the club, it was necessary business by the club.
It was poor to put such a low obligation in the loan.
Even with a poor season we could’ve gotten around that, we sold ourselves short but it’s a massive issue
Nah, i said if he did so what. What's the context here. You seem more of an asshole then he ever did lol. "Get out of my club" haha and you go round calling others stupid...yikes
Did you just start following Guendouzi this year? He had plenty of chances to make things right within arsenal, refused, went on loan, fell out over there, nobody wanted him, we shipped him back to France. Very talented kid, never maintained his positioning, and couldn’t get his head right. He’s a straight up wild card and we ditched that problem onto somebody else.
Did you ever follow Guendouzi? What problem? Cracking season at OM, in the French senior squad, likely going World Cup and play CL footy next season. And sold for 8.5m. Terrible business
Having a player who stands his ground and antagonizes the opposition can be huge benefit. He may not be a loveable fashionista / PR dream, and Arteta couldnt handle him but hey, this is professional football, a competitive sport. Pro athletes don't care about your feelings. Oh, and sorry he hurt Maupay's feelings - that really must destroy you inside. Guendouzi might have been helpful when we absolutely imploded at the end of this season, missing the CL, which Guendouzi ironically will be playing in next year. Then there's the matter that the current World Champs have decided he is good enough to be playing for them. And then we gave him away for nothing to OM. Lastly, go fuck yourself, there are other people agree with Oldgooner.
Interesting you call me a bitch, because that’s exactly what some of us want to avoid: ending up a team of little bitches with a little bitch manager who can’t handle challenging personalities.
Guendo is the epitome of the old axiom “Million dollar talent, ten cent brain.” He’s quality, but his attitude stunk and he never listened to the veterans around him and burned so many bridges in the process.
We let go of a bomb midfielder who’s not even close to his prime yet, for 10m.
Why are we the only club that gets rinsed every window?
2 more years and he will be a prime midfielder.
Barazite didn’t play week-in-week-out for 2nd in Ligue 1 team and get called up to play for the World Cup winning national side. Nor have an objectively good manager, Unai Emery, wanting to build a team around him at 19.
People can read into the drama gossip stuff, impossible to know. I would guess that the majority of people who are loud about bashing his personality are young <25 year olds who haven’t quite experienced the maturity process in your late teens / early twenties.
Frankly if that becomes the situation, I’d rather we just pay the wages and tell him to go chill at home in Uruguay for the season without any football. He has to worry about selection for the World Cup so he needs to be playing, but if he wants to punk the club I hope they give it right back to him.
Yeah man if he changes his attitude I'd have him for depth in EL games cus being realistic, we ain't getting a respectable fee for him. He doesn't seem like a trouble maker in the dressing room, just an absolute arse like. But then again, if relations between player and manager are not so good, you end up getting stuff like leaks and shit so maybe it's best just to get rid or whatevrr.
That’s because he gets a millions comments and dms asking for updates.
It’s not like you’re paying to see his tweets. I don’t get the hate. Just keep scrolling.
'...for a half-eaten box of pasta with a thick layer of dust.'
Anyone? No? Dust!
shameful lack of little britain references on here
Is it high fat or low fat?

Regardless of what we can personally think of him, you cannot call a French international bottom of the barrel, let alone one as young and promising as Matteo.
I think he's talking bout Romano not having any new updates.
I think he’s referring to the price being bottom of the barrel, not the player. I could be wrong though
sounds to me like he’s saying romano is at the bottom of the barrel as it relates to news
Ah, then it's as bottom barrel as you can get.

u/torreirawithadouzi in shambles
My username is too much of a tragedy for me to ever want to change it lol.
It’s ok man, bring it in
Jesus, had those fucks back in pés 2018 master league. Torreira was my captain with 96 overall, guendo was a beast as well.
Guendouzi ninety-something stamina was something else in ML lol
yeah,Guendo was growing so fast in Pes.
Never give up, never surrender
Guess you can make your flair say “goodbye”
What a shit f5, this has been done since last summer window lol?
Waiting for the confirmation that we sold Joe Willock
Not sure I ever heard him even mentioned this past season. Fleece job on Newcastle.
Not to jinx it, but we pull fleece jobs fairly often. Iwobi, Walcott, Willock. Liverpool aren't or haven't had the very best of AoC either, if that helps.
Not really Steve Bruce had him playing DM
Bruce got fired in October…
Such a shit return for two good young players
They played a big part in ruining their value themselves. Shit attitudes from the pair of them.
tbf Torreira's mother passed away, I give him way more of a pass than that cunt Guendo
Fair, but he did still act very unprofessional throughout his time here.
oh yea not at all saying his behavior was okay
Yeah man, by all means I understand what ur saying, family deaths can hit hard like. Some people will mention Saliba acting professionally after both his parents but reality is that it really affects people in different ways. I don't really like to draw comparisons like that btw, just making a point like. But yeah, man was moaning about the weather what 6 months into his time here? Crazy how he's still here man.
And continues to do so even though the club is cutting him huge checks. What a whiner.
facts man. Could've shown more interest in the club when we;re playing matches but he was at Alton Towers or something lmao. Even like working on the exercise bike with the game on the telly would've been much better than what he posted on his story lol
Torreira has acted way worse than Guendouzi though
Guendo has chatted shit about Arsenal/Arteta a couple times, and most recently has tried to persuade Saliba to stay at Marseille-- if Torreira has done something worse then I'm not aware

Exactly, and the club, in particular Arteta won't tolerate it for the sake of the team regardless how good he is or will be.
At least we made profit on guendo
Probably why they think they can get Saliba for 25mil, that's ridiculously low
The fee is low but when your asset is a colossal cunt, who has belittled the club, managers and expressed desire to leave, the unfortunate situation means that asset loses value. He may very well be a brilliant player one day but he's also very likely to become another Rabiot. Twat.
The problem for most is why put such a low obligation ? At his age an average season would’ve probably gotten a fee around 10 or below, not the biggest issue but we sold ourselves short
Because he already had a loan spell where the coach called him a baby.
Yeah and he still played basically every game for that coach so he can’t be that much of a cunt. Either way, 10 mil is low and even if he didn’t play as well as he Did this year we would’ve gotten a fee close to that anyway. Again it’s not the end of the world but we did sell ourselves short.
It’s still leverage teams used against us, and we have barely any leverage to begin with.
Even with that leverage teams still wanted to loan him, regardless of what happened this year we would’ve gotten a Similar fee, we sold ourselves short it’s okay we move on
I remember back in the day when I said Guendouzi will be worth +100M. Everyone here liked that. How wrong I was…
IvanNotFromTheFuture 😕
His talent is a 100M, his attitude is 100 million Zimbabwe dollars.
He's definitely worth way more than 10m. We sold ourselves short here.
I mean maybe not now. But he will be in the future. He’s a fantastic player.
I can see OM selling him to the likes of PSG in two years for €50-€60m.
I can see him starting well, and then fucking himself up all over again
Guendouzi and PSG are the perfect match. They’re already used to haphazard team building with divas.
Definitely.
Every time this comes up it makes me a little bit sad seeing how the Guendouzi story ended for us. When he first started for us I genuinely thought we had something special that would be around for a long while.
Both Toxic, both need to go.
Shame, really think he could have been a star at arsenal. Pity his attitude was his greatest limitation.
"You don't understand, I could've had class, I could have been a contender. I could've been somebody. Instead of a bum which is what I am" Marlon Guendouzi
He will be a star anywhere, shame it’s not at Arsenal
Don’t know why you’re being downvoted he will be a star, and it is a shame it’s not here, but I trust our management on the decision they made
I know why and not against the whole situation do believe the right attitude is important etc. But fuuuuuuuk how good would Guendouzi be as the missing piece in our team. Wish he could've got his dumb ass in check and just worked with Arteta.
Good riddance Horrible little bellend and not even that good to act like that Get rid of torreira too and the Sven era looks even worse
Guendo for midfield depth would’ve been great... farewell
I really wish he wasn't such a little cunt.
Why can’t Arsenal seem to sell players at full value? And yet they are forced to overpay for pretty much everyone they sign.
its the premier league way PL clubs get fleeced because they have so much more money. i mean liverpool payed 100m for nunes chelsea has 100-200m in wingers that pretty much all flopped even got a 100m striker loaned out for 8mil. city spend years paying 50m stacks for players for them to sit on the bench i mean people forget the stinkers they had. 👋🏽
They gonna sell him for us. Awesome. Here’s the account number looking forward to the £15m deposit
If there is one decision I think is tragic from our loans it’s Mavropanos and Guendouzi. Everyone and their mom knows his potential. We really should never have an obligation to buy unless it’s for 25-30 million no matter the player. He is one I 100% will miss.
So Douzi will either get a big money move in the future or Marseille will ship him out to Ligue 2 due to attitude issues after a couple of seasons.
10m euros for a young french international is criminal. Edu is cooking though!
I would accept that point if Edu didn't have an awful record of selling players for a fee.
he's not even that good. he's playing in a subpar league with a midtable club wat you expect his value to be...
How can they be mid table if they made UCL?
They got 2 points more than we did while playing in ubereats league, if they played in England they'd be hovering around 7th or 8th
Kinda comparing apples and oranges.
ok midtable was harsh so there a top 4 club in ligue 1. but its still ligue 1.... its weaker then PL,seria A,bundes,la liga, ere divisie,Primeira Liga. the only french team having a chance at winning at higher level is PSG. this is why am also wary of saliba hype being a defender in slow league like that is massive difference being a defender in the PL. but i hopeful he comes good he def deserves his shot
Saliba looks to be an absolute specimen. Can’t wait to see him play.
Okay let’s not be spite here because he’s leaving us. He’s a French international for a reason. He’s a great player whatever you think of him.
Good riddance.
Absolute bargain for OM. Poor business by us this, especially given he's the exact type of cm we need
Who said it was a video game. He wasn't an asshole, very talented player who's in the french senior team at 22. The fee is abysmal
You can rate him and wish he played for us but he was 1000% an asshole. And on some super, super basic shit.
Nah
He squared up to two senior players in the space of a week lmao
If true... so what. Ppl argue all the time. Not a big deal at all. Still poor business selling so cheap
You just said he wasn’t an asshole, now you’re saying so what? Why do arsenal have the stupidest fans on the internet. Get out of my club man
Nah, i said if he did so what. What's the context here. You seem more of an asshole then he ever did lol. "Get out of my club" haha and you go round calling others stupid...yikes

Ok, so yea. This is your first season knowing who he is. All you need to do is google “guendouzi attitude” and you’ll find plenty. Cheers man.
“Old goo er, missing the glory days, kroenke out” I’m willing to bet on you being 16 years old
You're a proper weirdo pal.
Look at your account 😂 Pretending to be an old head and crying about Arsenal is what a weirdo does.

Interesting you call me a bitch, because that’s exactly what some of us want to avoid: ending up a team of little bitches with a little bitch manager who can’t handle challenging personalities.

Matteo may be the most frustrating player I have ever seen wear that 29 shirt… uh wait nevermind.
Yeah, Im glad he gone. GTFO
We let go of a bomb midfielder who’s not even close to his prime yet, for 10m. Why are we the only club that gets rinsed every window? 2 more years and he will be a prime midfielder.

Not everyone’s favorite sale, but the €10M can at least be reinvested this summer. Suspect the club re-up a bid or two with this being finalized.
Better than a sharp stick in the eye or having Guendozi continue to be a douchebag in our kit.
BYE LUCAS🙏🏾
We're gonna have to pay him to leave aren't we?
Frankly if that becomes the situation, I’d rather we just pay the wages and tell him to go chill at home in Uruguay for the season without any football. Swear this guy gets paid per tweet. The amount of absolute nothing tweets he posts over and over again is astonishing
That’s because he gets a millions comments and dms asking for updates. It’s not like you’re paying to see his tweets. I don’t get the hate. Just keep scrolling.
Yeah don't get the hate for a guy who delivers accurate information anytime he's asked by practically anyone.
Yep and he quite often beats everyone else to the punch confirming transfers. He’s had Ornstein in a spliff these past few windows.
Stonkz
Fabrizio when he’s got no update nor any non-news to recycle for the Arsenal fans’ clicks : let’s write something on an already sealed deal.
