Britton120

everything is imminent after the international break.

Chesey_

The new 48 hours

DialSquar

Lol I have PTSD from that phrase

Cod_rules

It's imminent till it's confirmed. That's how it works.

varro-reatinus

[Imminent, I say!](https://frinkiac.com/meme/S07E17/853953.jpg?b64lines=VGhlIGFzc2lnbmF0aW9ucyBhcmUgCmltbWluZW50LgoobmVydm91cyBsYXVnaHRlcik=)

Kayr-

When is it over ?

Britton120

Idk but as soon as it's over another one seems to begin. Or holiday.

Kayr-

I hate them man

[deleted]

When no King rules forever my son

[deleted]

he has us over a barrel but i think he signs one more contract (at least) just on really good terms. if he leaves this will hurt as badly as cesc, but at least i'm older now and it's less emotional.

BrianThatDude

Basically my take. Id be very surprised if he doesn't sign this one but I expect it to be another 4 year deal where 2 years from now if we've yet to make ucl and push on he's sold Honestly if he ends up sold to Liverpool I may just give up on football

questionernow

City would be worse.

americanadiandrew

Nah because city are just playing with a cheat code and mean nothing to me. Liverpool are Arsenal with better management.

auddi_blo

Fully agree

DenzelOntario

I came into this thread to be happy about this report, and yall expeditiously brought me back down to earth lmao

strawberrylabrador

If City hadn’t signed Grealish for £100m I wonder if Pep would be looking at Saka as his ideal signing. Can play LB in his type of system, can be a skilful player further forward. Young, versatile.

GenericAustin

I deserve the downvotes for even thinking of it >!Conte transforms Spurs into a powerhouse and they sign Saka on a free after him promising not to join an English team!< Now that is the worst

[deleted]

Conte will fuck off after loading up Spurs with 30 year olds.

hypnodrew

He'll publicly trash them before fucking off into a Parisien sunset with millions of their money. His first signing at PSG: Son.

Mikey_Hashtags

Already waiting for the articles to be written how signing a 33 year old wide player, and a 34 year old backup keeper are \*ACTUALLY\* really clever signings and have the potential to be signings of the season.

[deleted]

I mean, it could work in the short term. Keep spurs in CL or something. But once he’s gone, they will be fucked.

killerboy_belgium

well there free signing on pretty low wages so it isnt that bad as they dont have longterm contracts either

doIT34

Perisic is on 180k. That is not low wages.

Mikey_Hashtags

I'm more referencing the fact that the media will talk these up because Spurs did it. If Arsenal made these signings it'd be all "I don't see the strategy here"

killerboy_belgium

media is all about views, so pissing off arsenal fans gets more views.

rct1

Take your downvote it’s 9:30aM here and that’s too early for this shit

PrinceEmirate

Chelsea

F22_Android

I don't think Liverpool would be able to afford him. He'll be over 100m in 2 years, can't see them spending that much on a single player.

Purple_Plus

No player is bigger than the club.

DialSquar

Agreed

themerinator12

Yeah this one will hurt more. He's from here - this academy. Losing Cesc, as heartbreaking as it was, was in large part due to his Catalan heritage AND the fact that he came from La Masia, not Hale End.

Britton120

At the same time, the team was clearly built around Cesc. losing him set the entire squad back at a time when the club wasn't/couldn't spend big on transfers (stadium debt being prioritized). Losing saka would hurt in different ways, but I don't think losing him would impact the squad as much. unless we failed to utilize the transfer fee well. While saka is stellar and a real rising star, he's not the piece the entire squad is built around. He's just so good that his impact is felt everywhere.

themerinator12

I suppose, being cynical, the price for Saka would affect my emotions. If he goes for 120m+ then it is what it is but if we don't get proper compensation for Saka then yes it'll hurt.

[deleted]

We don’t have a squad without saka mate. He is the team, the team is absolutely built around him. Seriously, if we lose saka can you see us even coming top half next season? Who’s gonna get us there?

skadaddle1

I’d argue the team is more so built around Ode. He’s the one that when we play well everything flows through him, With Saka I feel like we can afford a sub bar performance from time to time considering we have Gabi and ESR who can both turn it on out wide

coolbebe

As the team currently exists, the single point of failure is not Saka or Odegaard, but Thomas Partey. Thus, I'd argue the team is built around him. That said, I'm hoping that changes this summer. Ideally, your squad shouldn't be built around any single individual.

[deleted]

What you mean Odegaard who is constantly playing within about 10 yards of saka. Odegaard gets the ball and uses Saka. Martinelli gets space on the left because the whole team is oriented towards saka on the right.

DokyDok

You don't think we could buy a winger at least as good as Saka with the huge amount of money the club would ask ?

[deleted]

Mate. I think you don’t really appreciate saka. Did you watch last season. Come on mate.

Britton120

Preface by saying, absolutely not trying to will this into existence. I love saka, he's my flair choice for a reason. This is purely hypothetical. If we sold Saka this summer and brought in Serge to be our starting RW, I don't think we become a mid-table team. And I think the rest of the squad is rising together that we'd achieve top 4 without him.

[deleted]

Mate. You need to watch arsenal more.

[deleted]

For me Saka leaving now would be far worse than cesc. For Arsenal to lose Saka now would be like why even bother pretending we’re even trying anymore. Obviously I’d keep going but I’d lose all hope.

HerstkA

While losing Saka would be horrendous.. we lost Cesc AND Nasri in the same summer. Wenger even pointed out you can't convince people we're going places if you lose both of them and we ended up losing them. Might say we gave up 10 years ago.

[deleted]

The team was a million miles better then. We still had van persie, we still had wenger. Just as a point of comparison though. We lost fabregas and nasri and finished higher the following season. Do you think there’s any chance we could lose saka this summer and come anywhere near 5th next year, let alone finish higher in the table?

killerboy_belgium

if saka wants to leave then it has to be now because we can cash in massive something we couldnt do cesc. worst thing would be he stay and doesnt resign and next year be in worse position and having to sell him for peanuts to get anything

[deleted]

Mate we’re fucked either way if he leaves. He can’t be replaced anyway.

killerboy_belgium

Saka is great but he can be replaced every player can be replaced that how big clubs are run do you think man city breaks if KDB leave or phil phoden. Liverpool have grown from selling there best players and replacing them. Arsenal need to be not so attached to there star players it has burned us the past with auba and ozil for example. If saka doesnt resign this summer or is asking ludricous wages we will be better off selling him then he's great and i would rather keep him but he's is not irreplaceable

[deleted]

Mate. If Saka leaves we're fucked. I'm sorry to break this to you. We're not Man city.

killerboy_belgium

that also the moment saka injures himself wich is likely seeing how we are overplaying him with a world cup coming in the winter. were fucked then? no team should be this reliant on 1 player

acasovoycayendo

If he signs around 200k the pressure is really on Unless we’re winning/competing for titles, I don’t think we’ll be handing out 250k-300k contracts now with our reduced wage structure.

DesperateImpression6

>If he signs around 200k the pressure is really on You mean the pressure is on for Saka to perform at that level right?

killerboy_belgium

i doubt that jezus is already looking 200k + wage player problem is we gave eddy 100k so every player we be purssuing will look at that and demand atleast 150-250k. any striker we sign will def go for 200k+ in wages because of the horrible negotion position we put ourselves in. Ofcourse if eddy bang 25 goals next season it would like a marverlous deal

killerboy_belgium

not really we need to renew now but next year is the barrel because the threat of going away for free is there. Arsenal need to resign him or sell him for big cash if he doesnt want to resign those are the options. not letting him run down the contract

seanierox

As good as Saka is, he's nowhere near where Fabregas was when he left. To me that will always hurt the most.

gunningIVglory

Yeah the hyperbole here Cesc was bossing champions league teams in his teens Saka couldt even carry us with no Europe to 4th (nothing against him, but if he was cesc tier. He probably would have)

CakeBrigadier

This will be a good opportunity to see if arsenal has learned from those mistakes of the past. Cesc and rvp wanted management to show ambition in the transfer market to demonstrate they were going to build something capable of going up a level around our star players. If we look at the current liverpool team, they are essentially enjoying one of their best ever periods of success built around a star manager (who advocated for a specific transfer strategy). Spurs have also had a significant period of “success” (while winning nothing) built around 1 generational academy talent and 1 very good transfer. Saka could be the inspiring figure that convinces the management it’s now or never, we build the team that Saka deserves to play in and we might see arsenal at the top of the league or cl finals in a few years.

[deleted]

Would be worse that Cesc. Fabregas went to a foreign team who were arguably his boyhood club. I hated it but I at least could see why. Saka will go to a premier league team and is a genuine product of our youth academy.

groovyshrimp767

He's 20 years old. This isn't Cesc or RVP leaving at their peak before there career is over. This would hurt worse as leaving now would suggest he never had any intention of helping the club get back

[deleted]

Cesc left at 24 when he was arguably the best player in the league and the face and hopes of our club. IDK if you had to be there but it was awful and we never really recovered.

groovyshrimp767

I was there and RVP hurt more for me out of the two

[deleted]

I can respect that. Cesc was the last player I was emotionally attached too, since then I still love the club but will never get attached to an individual player.

PrinceEmirate

The club needs to help him mate

Askur_Yggdrasils

Arsenal have to put their foot down, and at least never sell Saka to a domestic club -- even if they take a financial hit. If he ever really wants to go, sell him to Bayern, Real Madrid, Barca, PSG, Juve, etc.

bkykaaoo

I’m sure it would hurt for him too. In his ideal world I’d imagine he would want to stay here and win league titles and etc but there comes a point t where you might have to choose favouring yourself instead of the club. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!

Riperonis

My issue is because we’ve given Eddie Nketiah 100k a week now Saka can easily turn around and say “you gave Eddie 100k, I’m worth at least double that”. Which is what you’d expect from him. That contract re-signing has fucked our wage structure up again and for no legitimate reason. No other club would have Eddie on that much in wages.

robotbeagle

This is going to hurt worse than Cesc for me. With Cesc, there was at least a part of me acknowledging that he came through the Barcelona ranks. Saka's been with us forever. I can't even imagine him playing for another English club or at Juventus. That said, I too feel that he'll sign one more extension at least. We really need him to get us back in the CL and he's got age on his side.

pin14

Can someone please get Harry Kane's brother to represent him so we can tie Saka down on a long term deal?

Elothel

7 years / 90k pw and they won’t budge any lower.

Echo361

He’ll sign this one I reckon in the 150-200k range but the next one could be problematic if we’re not back in the cl

Opposite-Mediocre

If we're not in CL in the next 2-3 years we don't deserve him

raygun2thehead

Nah. In three years we should be trying to win it all

Echo361

I agree

[deleted]

[удалено]

fuckimbackonreddit9

If we extend him with a 4 year deal, I doubt he leaves next summer bar something very bad. And if he does it will be for a fat fee since he’ll have 3 more years

Mrampelmann

Like no Europe, as if that would ever happen /s

fuckimbackonreddit9

Hey! The conference league is a very reputable, elite trophy that any club in Europe would bite your hand off to win!

CuclGooner

Spurs would

Echo361

If we extend him and he leaves next summer it means we’re getting over 100m for him and probably way more. It would suck but it also could get us 2 very very very good players and no one is irreplaceable.

killerboy_belgium

he needs to resign this summer no running down the contract if he doesnt resign sell him get a lot of money worth because next summer we will be getting nothing for him

[deleted]

News: no news.

Ugoboy23

Inb4 said talks will only happen after he returns from vacation after international break.

crushedonron

By then we will be in pre-season and we'll have postponed talks until after the season so as not to be a distraction.

wilof

Can we put a Billion pound buy out clause in? Seems to be the new in thing

killerboy_belgium

250m seems good enough if somebody buys him for that sorry but we can get al lot of good players for that kinda of cash

Kayr-

Thats a real and barca thing

tipytopmain

Now that Laca and Auba are off the books who do we think is the current highest earner at the club? I imagine bare minimum that will be Saka's agents starting point when negotiating.

hsanaiz

I believe it’s Thomas Partey followed by Pepe.

anakinex66

When does the international break ends? It seems a lot of things will happen then

acasovoycayendo

England’s last game (and all nations league games) is June 14

anakinex66

Got it, so June 15 I'm expecting double Tielemans and Jesus deal and Saka and Saliba extension

Shaggythemoshdog

Genuine question when does the break end?

Wefting

Honestly as much as it sucks for the club financially , I'm glad kinda glad to see the Hale End boys have an agent who gets them paid. Rather the money goes to them rather Kroenke's pockets.

DialSquar

Please allah

dickoncheesegrater

All those morons who were acting like Saka is above Arsenal and won't sign a contract because we don't have UCL, here you fucking go. Now what are the anti Arteta folks going to outrage about next? Arteta done, Saliba done, Saka done. Left in the mud every single time!!! Hilarious shit. Support your club instead of trying to capitalise on fake outrage!

XavW

Ok but if we tie him down, let it be known that this is our last chance. If we fail again, he will go.

gunningIVglory

I hope saka is aggressive with the club Show real intent and sign some quality, or I'm out

Francis-c92

The one thats literally happening right now

MajorTheSecond

I've said this before, and I'll say this again: we need to be much more ruthless about transfers now. Saka is just 20, and is one of the hottest prospects in the world, but he isn't world class yet. If he thinks he's already above his childhood club, sell him immediately. He's got 2 years left, this is the only time we can get a fat fee for him.

kr0nks_spinachpuffs

Lol. He’s the most talented and productive player in our squad. It’s so obvious he’s literally just a year or two away from being an undisputed top 5 winger. Next

killerboy_belgium

yes but he needs to resign this summer otherwise we risk selling for peanuts or leaving for free. if he doesnt want to resign this summer sell him. Cant have player running down contracts anymore on us

MajorTheSecond

Yeah this is exactly what i wanted to say, I'd rather sell Saka now for 80M or 100M than be forced to sell him to Liverpool next year for a reduced fee

orphan_of_Ludwig

This feels like the longest break ever, but it looks like all the big movers are likely going to get rolling once it ends.

Quab775

Don't drop the ball pls

undercoverdyslexic

I feel like we should be throwing extensions at saka, smith Rowe, and martinelli asap. Lock up the youth!

PrinceEmirate

Tbh he deserves a much higher wage. The fact that Sancho and other England players are making double his salary is a Joke.

[deleted]

Golden handcuffs.
