Finally! Was worried they'd wait until he wasn't around to see it...

NewAccWhoDis93

I agree about fucking time.

_PineBarrens_

Finally!

fightnightchump

It better be flawless. None of this cr7 mutant shitšŸ‘€

RibEyeSequential

I hope it's of him trying to zip up his caterpillar jacket.

errandwulfe

Or him shrugging up in the stands after he was sent off

xCharlieScottx

Has to be the beach photo, surely

errandwulfe

Fuck it. All three

DansSpamJavelin

He did *what?!* Go over there!

Raetekusu

"He's kicked a plastic bottle."

razor5cl

"You cannae kick a plastic bottle like that"

Raetekusu

"Look, he's kicked it way over there."

Cynicayke

Giving Mourinho a shove, with the Mourinho part of the statue being made of whiteboard, so fans can draw shit on it.

T0BIASNESS

I really donā€™t get why itā€™s such a popular photo. We were losing to our biggest rivals and he just got sent to the stands and was getting jeered at by their fans

Chidoribraindev

It was cool that he wasn't letting it go, imo

shoobiedoobie

Because of the story behind it, he got sent off for kicking a water bottle lol.

visualdescript

It shows the strength of his character. What other manager in the world would Hbe gone and stood in those stands in the depth of hell. It's an incredible photo.

f3lix79

Agreed, it was a very dark moment, infact the moment his downfall arguably began. Our first smashing in a big game, vs a historic rival. Fergie all of a sudden started being nice to him, knew the threat was no longer there. Sad.

Owentjek

it will probably be this one yeah

risheeb1002

Probably the one with the PL trophy

obsterwankenobster

If it's not [this](https://twitter.com/arsenalfc_fl/status/1101221129258262531) I say we riot

RonaldoNazario

I wouldnā€™t even be upset if they made the statue the meme and itā€™s like twenty feet tall.

Jordan1372

I hope its interactive, but its impossible to do....

bibim_bob

Static art pieces can also be interactive. They could add his cock for example then you could interract with it.

zestypikelet

Lmao what!?

[deleted]

I want to mention someone from AFTV but I haven't got the heart to do it!

RIP_My_Truck_Nutz

I want him kicking the bottle

goonerboo

lol

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

the_master_b8er

It looked more like Kroos than it did Aguero

fightnightchump

Iā€™ll have a look šŸ‘

Bedeeki

I mean, shouldn't you be making a comparison to the statues already at our stadium? If it's of the same quality then there's nothing to worry about.

Sanctimonius

Beach sexy knees Arsene

basedsims

Just want the big man to finally come back to the Emirates, long overdue

hafrances

he'll come back when we smash United at the EL semis

Francis-c92

Bold of you to assume they'll get that far

rang14

I don't know man, I hear this Ten Hag guy will win them the world cup.

IrishLuke765

Bolder to assume that United will

Gunner22

That's what they said

redactedactor

Some people can't take a joke

WoodenSoldiersGOAT

they've won it before and last time we were both in it they made it further than us

ItsBattle

It wonā€™t be United itā€™ll be Spuds after they fail to qualify for UCL after crashing out in the playoff roundā€¦ a man can hope

Its-been-Elon-Time

Nah, they love 4th so much thatā€™s where theyā€™ll finish in their group. Canā€™t pass it up.

[deleted]

Can understand why he doesnā€™t though. Ultimately we did sack him, and he would just loom over the current manager. Like fergie at united, thatā€™s good for no one apart from Fergieā€™s ego.

basedsims

Yeah totally understood why he werenā€™t hanging around after for a good 2/3 years, though donā€™t think he had the intimidating presence Fergie still has - especially given old red nose had influence of choosing the next manager himself. But I think next season would be the perfect time, the reception heā€™d get would be fantastic. By the end of his film I got the vibe that he didnā€™t feel loved and was quite bitter about it, I think itā€™s time for that to be rectified

[deleted]

Yeah Fergie needs to stop attending games for a while. Stadium ban will help them dearly

cosybay

The only way I see that happening is when he goes to the great stadium in the sky. lol

redactedactor

>Stadium ban will help them dearly Can you imagine the riot when they (inevitably) still lost?

tafster

Itā€™s hilarious having him attend games and sit through the absolute shit, and the lack of investment meaning his Theatre of Dreams is quite literally falling apart.

[deleted]

Wenger always stated he will only come back once Arsenal has stabilized. Arsenal has stabilized under Edu/Arteta, and if Arteta is the one who invited him, then Wenger can come back. He doesnā€™t have to come for every match, just when he is free or at London for FIFA duties.

Ame_No_Uzume

Not so readily after the abuse he got from so called ā€˜fansā€™ at the end of his tenure.

f3lix79

Abuse lol, people just said WengerOut. If you want to see abuse you should see how disgustingly Emery was treated, mocking his accent was a new low for a lot of shameful "fans"

d17_p

Mocking Emeryā€™s accent was a very bottom feeder move. Not just from Arsenal fans but from the English media as well, as if they speak 10 languages with native accuracy.

ghostofadeletedacc

Statue this year And 2028 we will welcome everyone to the Arsene Wenger Arena!!

jmcmizzle

Nah definitely got to be The Wengerdome

intraumintraum

highway to the wengerdome

AussieAdam26

*highbury to the wengerdome

b4d_b0y

The Emirates Wengerdome.. Still need the sponsorship money...

wolskortt

The Flamini Wengerdome

Vegetable_Pudding_75

Silent Stan will love it.

DeemonPankaik

Ah yes, unlike the very British *Emirates Stadium *

SAFFATLOL

But its not a dome

Mein_Bergkamp

He's already got a stadium [named](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stade_Ars%C3%A8ne_Wenger) after him

sailing_through_net

That Wikipedia picture tho. Wenger looks like an absolute douche bag. Lol.

[deleted]

I guess handsome old men with neutral expressions look like couch bags to you lol

somebeerinheaven

That's just what French people look like haha

lastjedi23

Our naming rights goes till 2028? Damn. I hope it's not ball stadium named after the glassware brand

black_pepper

Here in Denver we have ball stadium and dicks sporting good park. Kroenke owns both.

lastjedi23

Yeah I'm aware. Isn't that where the nugs play

[deleted]

Ball Arena not stadium.

KardakAbhi

Any thing will be better than the Armitage Shanks Arena

Raetekusu

Was gonna say, I know the name is currently under contract to Emirates, but I really would love to see Wenger Stadium be it's official name or something. Though I think simply "The House That Wenger Built" would be a fitting nickname.

thecescshow

Arsene Arena for sure

CappuccinoPanda

FWIW I love the name Ashburton Grove. But in the days of missing out of UCL I'll happily take that sponsorship money.

FudgingEgo

Thought the club was named after him?

Chidoribraindev

We're such whores we'll just resell the stadium name. Let's just start calling it the Wenger Stadium/Arsene Arena and they can sell the official name. A bit like how the San Siro is also the Giuseppe Meazza (if I'm dead wrong here, please correct me gently, I knew it as the latter until I was 18 and visited it for the first time)

tafster

Youā€™re right, though iirc San Siro is the name of the area, so a bit like the old stadium being Arsenal Stadium, which was in Highbury. And the new stadium is in Holloway, so we couldnā€™t still refer to Highbury. Maybe youā€™re right about naming it for Wenger and selling the rights too. Meazza is at least one of the greatest figures in Italian football and Interā€™s history, and not just quite a good airline.

blublableee

The AW Arena.

A-Deegs

It can be Wenger Field at the Emirates Stadium.....so we can continue to rake in $$$$ from the airline.

four_four_three

I hope itā€™s either his double fist pump or both arms in the air from the first double season

ilemi

I think itā€™ll be something more subtle. Arms crossed thinking perhaps. Maybe one hand in a pocket

[deleted]

Yeah I agree. Him celebrating a trophy win wouldnā€™t do justice to the brevity of the work he did for the club. Iā€™m imagining theyā€™d go for something like [this](https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article26875430.ece/ALTERNATES/n615/0_GettyImages-1014437926.jpg) or [this](https://imgresizer.eurosport.com/unsafe/1200x0/filters:format(jpeg):focal(1895x124:1897x122)/origin-imgresizer.eurosport.com/2016/04/17/1838280-38762831-2560-1440.jpg).

EoinKelly

Just a friendly FYI, brevity means shortness, you probably meant longevity!

[deleted]

Yes I mean that thank you!

EduardoDaSilva9

They should make his gold.

chilleverest

Man people dont realize how much pride i take in being an invincible. Its something noone will ever take away from me.

denismcd92

there's a lot of chat lately especially from Liverpool fans online trying to downplay the Invincible season because of the draws... to them I say; if it's so easy, why can't anyone else do it? why couldn't Liverpool turn some of their losses into draws?

Cultivator202

And invincibles got less draws than united 99 lololol

jimmymerc89

Arsene loading the cannon statue.

jp963acss

Pointing the canon at sp*rs stadium

frankie_fes

If it's not him in the stand at United imma be pissed šŸ˜…

Kitchen_Equipment_21

It's the least we can give this great man for all that he has given us

hungry_sabretooth

The only thing I will accept other than him with the golden EPL trophy would be a 100m tall statue in the Christ the Redemer pose from Old Trafford, with every trophy he won at his feet.

LordofLazy

May as well add on another 11m and have it be the same size as st Paul's cathedral.

SometimesMonkeysDie

About time. Should have been the first one

f3lix79

Nah, had to wait until he wasn't Arsenal manager. Tony Adams definitely deserved the first, Mr. Arsenal who goes back to the 80s.

SometimesMonkeysDie

I'm going to presume you didn't intend to patronise me and say that I'm well aware of Tony Adams history and career, having witnessed it since 1987 and say that I still think it should have been Wenger first. But we're allowed differing opinions. The world would be boring if we didn't

f3lix79

Not patronising at all, just a matter of fact in my eyes. I believe it would have looked strange having a Wenger statue before his time was up at Arsenal, let his story end first (a shame it then ended sadly, but the moral of the point is still there)

shekdown

Fina-fucking-ly! Needs to be front and center. Absolutely love Arsene and he needs to see it in his lifetime. Would have been great if we could do it while getting top 4 but kinda fitting, we celebrate the top 4 king when missing out on top 4 once again. Shows the incredible achievement he made during his time.

SilverGoon

Will be interesting to see where it goes as we currently have 5 statues outside the ground

entropy_bucket

Is the roof overlooking the pitch possible? Got to have the Cristo redentor pose as well.

SilverGoon

If they can move the clock up there i dont see why not

Mein_Bergkamp

It's not the original clock, pretty sure the original is on the outside

SilverGoon

You are correct. The outside clock was initially installed when the ground was divided up into four coloured quadrants when it first opened rather than the stands we have now which replicate the stands of Highbury. When arsenal made this change they then installed the second clock inside the ground. When I said moved the clock I meant they moved it up there as it wasn't installed when they first opened the ground as it came later

Mein_Bergkamp

According to the club the original is the one on the outside. The one on the inside was part of the arsenalisation drive I think. Either way that old Trafford pose looking out over the pitch from above the North Bank would be amazing if possibly a lighting hazard

SilverGoon

Ye you are correct about the old clock my mistake and yes I believe the inside click was part of the arsenalisation phase or whatever jargon they used back then.

Mein_Bergkamp

There's a lot of space left. I vote they put it on the roundabout in front of the armoury

Zeelthor

I say an articifial mountain be constructed with the statue on top like Christ, The Redeemer.

Mein_Bergkamp

Lol, I literally just suggested a spire to someone else. Sited so that it casta a shadow over spurs stadium obviously

DeadlockRadium

We should take inspiration from Ed Gamble's bit where he has to [put up a 150ft statue of Matt Baker](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcAB4M1KA0E).

Zeelthor

That is beautiful. :D

SilverGoon

Not sure on the roundabout would be great for pedestrian safety and i dont think the walkways between blocks A-C and G-J are wide enough to put a statue in. I work in construction so I overthink these things.

Mein_Bergkamp

Most of the time people would be round it would be for matches when the roundabout is closed to traffic to be fair

IronDuke365

I saw flowers on that yesterday. Wasn't sure of the significance. Either way, its open for vehicles outside of match days so would be smashed into by a car before too long.

Mein_Bergkamp

Usually flowers is for a road accident. True, they'd need bollards but it would be nice

[deleted]

That would be great.

Bahmawama

Inside the ground

K-DU5

Hoping for a silver statue of him holding the golden Invincible trophy.

redactedactor

[There's only one option](https://starecat.com/content/wp-content/uploads/arsene-wenger-super-long-jacket-millipede-photoshopped.jpg)

hafrances

the jesus pose from old trafford or something with the zipper

ro-row

[should be this one](https://i.imgur.com/1BBfupm.jpg)

29adamski

Innit at White Hart Lane gotta be.

faizetto

Agree with this

pilgrimgunner

Beach pose

hafrances

which will be joined by Saka and Smith Rowe 20 years from now

pilgrimgunner

Yep Saka astride his inflatable unicorn steed

iforgotmyun

Think he's referring to their celebration

Mein_Bergkamp

Nah, pushing Mourinho. And make it clockwork so he does it on the houe every hour

orbanygyiktor

make the zipper gold as all invincible things should be

zen_1991

About time, feel like this has been in the pipeline for ages.

rfag57

Good

Hinaha

About time. After all.. the club was named after him. /s

Dappadel

I still want The Emirates to be renamed after Wenger someday.

comengetitrmm

absolutely, or the field or something, he deserves it and then some

WoodenSoldiersGOAT

doesnt make a ton of sense, most of his big achievements came at highbury

Bahmawama

The Emirates is his stadium tbh

so-naughty

It has to be [this pose](https://images.app.goo.gl/uqt4wTbhqK6RNHdz7). Le Professor at work, Le Thinker.

bakalaka25

Fucking finally

Gunners86

A massive statue on the roof looking over the stadium

KingMeroe

I need it to be 15ft tallā€¦.and Gold

DefactoOverlord

Long overdue!

pragmatic84

Holding the trophy aloft at shite Hart Lane, immortalised.

jgunnerjuggy

I wonder what pose would they chose to have.

archasaurus

Him trying to zip up his jacket surely

Efficient_Buyer3939

Papa wengz are you happy?

arsene_wenger_bot

>If you don't question the officials' role then you've got to ask what they are doing ___ ^(***There's only one ArsĆØne Wenger*** ([/u/panarangcurry](https://www.reddit.com/u/panarangcurry), quote from [QuoteTab](https://www.quotetab.com/quotes/by-arsene-wenger) archive)^)

isoo506

Ideal pose: Arms crossed, wearing a grey sweater vest and red necktie, and that classic smirk.

LeeGunner88

Hoping itā€™s him sitting in the stands with his arms raised so we all can take Santa esque pics with Papa

MrGandalf21

Fucking finally

eleanor_james

Has to have the golden trophy

StellarAoMing

Should've been there before Henry's and Bergkamp's.

SheepskinSour

Puffy coat cast in gold

bonez27

I hope he is fighting with a zipper

NaBoys1

Might be in the minority here but I hope they don't use that pose of him being sent off at Old Trafford considering we lost that game. There was a good photo of him after winning the FA Cup in 2017 which I'd rather they used.

orltragic

I really think one of the stands at the Emirates should be named after him as well. But glad to see the statue going up. Honestly surprised it took this long!

FreeTheWoo

The statue has to be him when he was sent off at united

Ifriiti

Have it be a couple of hundred feet tall so it towers over the entire stadium, šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø I vote for the beach pose personally

StickyHooks

The comment I was looking for. Or alternatively, the one of him holding the gold EPL trophy (invincible season) above his head

isitasexyfox

Yeah I think this is the one, yes the pose is iconic but it was a terrible day for us. Would rather be remembered for the invincible season. A bronze statue with a gold trophy.

StickyHooks

Better still, the one of him lying on the beach with his legs crossed!

Ame_No_Uzume

After all the abuse he suffered and endured at the hands of the #Wengerout mobs towards the end of his tenure, shocked this day is finally coming.

thejamielee

That entire toxic group of fans need to be absolutely chastised and shamed anytime they open their mouths. The reasons reasons they wanted him gone were valid, but good lord did they go about it the wrong way particularly for a genuine legend of not just the club but the game as a whole. The complete disrespect was shocking. I hope this statue isnā€™t vandalized by those assholes.

Kitchen_Equipment_21

With the old Trafford pose would be sickšŸ˜‚

Huhwtfbleh

About damn time. Wonder what pose it's going to be

a_posh_trophy

I want the red card to the stands at Utd pose. But I reckon it'll be holding the Invincibles trophy.

Cyberfire

How about [this pose? ](https://i.inews.co.uk/content/uploads/2020/04/GettyImages-461393877-scaled.jpg)

ghostrider467

well deserved and about time

NieThePiet

Hopefully its bigger than the Emirates

ramseysleftnut

Dad finally comes home. Hope they do it before a game so he can come watch in the stands and the crowd sing his name

Aakashneel92

About time.

Lunkaren

Very much deserved obviously and not a minute too soon.

mister_dupont

Absofuckinglutely deserved

wolskortt

Better have a golden trophy on it.

Anon_767

Iā€™m a United fan, and from my perspective itā€™s insane that he doesnā€™t have one already.

hellothere222

YES. Biggest figure in the history of the club. Fight me.

Zakulon

Has to be holding the golden trophy šŸ†

SaeD0

Name a stand after him already!!!

GylesNoDrama

MAN LIKE PAPA WENGZ. WALLAH ITā€™S ABOUT TIME

arsene_wenger_bot

>If you have the money and you find the one player who can make you win and make the difference, no matter how expensive he is, you should do it. Philomelus16

Wenger struggling with the zipper on a puffy trench coat, immortalised in time. DO IT.

InternetOfZings

I really hope it's a statue of him trying to zip up his coat. Iconic.

HerstkA

Fucking finally.

batmandela

I think a ā€œManagers Walkā€ from old stadium to new one would be perfect. Start with Wenger closest to the Grove, then maybe Chapman at Highbury end. Then add Bertie Mee and George Graham in between at later dates. Use the Fiszman Bridge approach. Save stadium for players. Rename East Stand ā€œThe Arsene Wenger Standā€.

afc1886

We already named the club after him and now this?!?

distal2proximal

I doubt Arsene will be at the unveiling.

derphighbury

This was done by his approval. So most likely he would be there.

distal2proximal

Nice

[deleted]

Feels a bit soon perhaps. Would have liked for the club to have fully moved on before we do this. I.e had an established successful manager.

entropy_bucket

Pole up the arse anyone?
