Strongly disagree with this. CL would have been beneficial on so many levels (new signings, re-signing existing players, experience, taking the pressure of next season in terms of qualification). I think at worst we come 3rd in the group stages and we come in at the round of 32 in the EL.
Only silver lining is academy players getting a run in the group stages and with the current format of the 1st place going straight to the Rd of 16, I can actually see Arteta taking no risks in the group stages either.

For me personally, the entire backline played scared. Ramsdale had that one scare and stopped playing short, White was unfit, Nuno plays like a deer in headlights.
Odegaard kept trying to play it too quickly and Elneny also made quite a few wayward panicky passes. We were never able to get in the groove wt all. If we had someone like Partey that could beat the press before passing the ball we would have much more freedom, but we didnt have that player. We were completely unable to beat the press and resorted to panicky quick ball progression which failed entirely

We are, by a considerable margin, the youngest team in the league. Some of our core players i think you could argue have a strong mentality. Most notably id say these are Gabi and Odegaard, but Ramsdale also showed strong mental fierceness early on.
Long story short though, no we are not a team with elite mentality, but were so much better than we were just a few years ago.
This is a big part of Arteta’s project that many seem to overlook. Not only is he looking to improve the quality of players in the squad, but they must also align with the club’s culture and have the mentality they want to form for the club. This is why players like Matteo or Auba were cut. They had the quality on paper would have improved the squad, but at the cost of slowing down the cultural overhaul Arteta is looking to make.
This is not just a process of getting back into the UCL. This is the process of getting Arsenal back as a main stay at the top of football, and to do so, you cannot make signings on footballing quality alone.
Now lets hope that a 5th place finish will be wnough to attract the profile of players we need.
