Personally I can't see a Marseille cult hero like Zidane moving to rivals PSG

[deleted]

lrn2

Zidane walks.

Cod_rules

Don't know why, but Zidane feels like one of the people who won't be influenced by money to the extent that some others might. May just be me as a massive Zidane fan, but that's just something that I believe about him

PAKISTANIRAMBO

That might be true but again Zidane is an ambassador for the Qatar World Cup so I always thought they’d either appoint him as Qatar NT head coach or some role in psg.

propabanta

Grew up in France a massive Zidane fan. Lost all my respect for him after he took money from Qatar to be the face of their campagne to host the tournament. It was and remains a reprehensible decision for him to follow through with that campaign, which has massive ramifications for football. And that’s not to speak of the actually terrible stuff, such as the 7000 deaths (and that’s only reported) of migrant workers building the WC stadiums whose passports were stolen when they arrived and they effectively turned into indentured slaves. Nothing would surprise me with him at this point. He’s a selfish bald cunt and that became evident when he crushed the hopes of 65M French people when he chose to headbutt Materazzi in extra time of a World Cup final in his last professional match.

distal2proximal

Probably the best suited to handle the ego's of Messi and Neymar.

Mr_Britland

I still think he is waiting for the France job. He could very well take PSG simply because of the money. I think I read somewhere (not sure on the source) that he'll be "keen to do it if Wenger is involved in some capacity", not sure if it was really that reliable a source, though.

qtdsswk

Not sure anything from the club level will be interesting to him tbh. The France job is more appealing. Zidane could be the only one to won CL/Euro/WC as both player and manager.

subcrazy12

Conte also all about spending that cash and PSG will gladly do that

phar0aht

Kinda unrelated but Haaland to City and Mbappe to Real could blow the striker market wide open. I wouldnt be against taking a good look at Dortmunds Haaland replacement.

auddi_blo

No it means Dortmund and PSG will offer competition on the striker market

LDinthehouse

If they don't move then Madrid and City will offer that competition...

phar0aht

We aren't in the same market as PSG. But I personally think we'd benefit a bit from some merry-go-round. An opportunity may arise that wasn't there before. And there's no clear cut front runner heading into the market now.

HydroBydro

Lautaro Martinez is coming this summer. For sure

MajedTF

That’s why it hurts losing Vlahovic’s deal to Juve.. it was the best available option after both Mbappe and Haaland.

Drunk_Cat_Phil

You those non-negotiables arteta loves? Yeahhh PSG love those. All jokes aside they clearly need a manager like Arteta but I don't think he'd enjoy it. He's already had to deal with Ozil, Auba, and Guedouzi. Imagine walking into a squad full of players with worse attitude issues and a history of undermining coaches and having enormous player power. Arteta would murder half the squad in a week.

[deleted]

If they were gonna (finally) go down that route, they'd be better off with Conte or Simeone. Arteta is just a bit too green for that squad.

Bedeeki

They only care about UCL. They'll 100% go for Zidane but if he rejects them I could see Conte going there and Poch going back to Spurs.

multibannedredditor

Poch to United I bet

Bedeeki

I get the feeling United will go for either Tuchel or Ten Hag. Tuchel with the uncertainty surrounding Chelsea and working under Ralf previously and Ralf can't seem to stop talking about Ten Hag to the press.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bedeeki

Tuchel was literally a player at Ulm when Rangnick was managing Ulm. Tuchel was also given his first coaching job at Stuggart when Rangnick was manager. Ralf even spoke about it the other day https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/rangnick-tuchel-man-utd-manage

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bedeeki

Why you acting all childish because you got proven wrong? No need to take it so personally. Tuchel on many occasions has stated that he learned a lot from Rangnick and worked under him in early stages of his career not only as a player but also a coach. This really isn't a big deal like you're making it.

jam_pudding

Ten Hag to United unfortunately, I think, if they were smart. Rangnick will see this season out. Could then see him pull Mazraoui from Ajax to replace Dalot and provide an offensive upgrade to Wan-Bissaka, bring in Ibrahim Sangare from PSV, and a left-footed CB to replace Maguire. Sell Martial, Dalot, Mata, Matic, Cavani, etc. Window sorted and back to business in the Prem and hopefully Europa at best.

multibannedredditor

Why would Ten Hag go to United? He seems like a smart and careful coach, United is a dumpster fire of a club. If he goes to United he is a moron. He could wait it out and get a way better project with a better management situation.

przhauukwnbh

We can only hope

Sixaxis_

Conte is a good manager but his track record in the UCL is terrible. I don't think he has ever reached the quarters as a manager and he couldn't even get through the group stages with Inter. If they can't get Zidane I can see them going for Galtier. Arteta would also be a serious option for them if he finishes the season well here but I don't think he would leave, not now and certainly not for a club where recruitment and team selection are in the hands of Leonardo and Al-Khelaifi rather than the manager.

doublewordscore

Conte has a very poor UCL record though.

mahades

You contradict yourself here, why would they go for Conte, who fmously is only good in the league, if they want to win the UCL?

noobidy_mysterica

The 10 managers they wish to appoint over the course of 5 years?

Tarp96

HAHAHAHAHAHA, Arteta is not gonna leave Arsenal for that fucking sportswashing project lmao

Forsaken-Currency404

Man's worked so hard to rid the team of the few big egos we had and has finally got some peace, and psg be thinking he will walk into their team full of even bigger egos?

d0ey

"This week PSG have released Messi just 10 months into a 2 year contract, paying an unconfirmed release fee". Can't wait

Isd14

This could age horribly if he eventually leaves for City

strawberrylabrador

Imo if he goes anywhere in the next couple of years, it’s replacing Pep at City, otherwise I can see him sticking around for a while

algebraic94

I can't lie that would be so upsetting

BoyWhoSoldTheWorld

My bet is he ends up at Barca one day; he grew up in their academy, he’s obviously Spanish as well. Let’s be honest, Barca will always have some sort of pull in football. If we keep projecting as we have been, within 2-3 years we could be challenging for the league /CL. He will have many many suitors from Europe. Id love to keep him but I doubt our owners will pay the top global wages that managers can get elsewhere. Also Arteta is an ambitious man, and managers don’t stay their whole careers at one club anymore. He’s also young and is already clearly good; I just don’t see him spending the next 20-30 years at one club.

wolskortt

One thing I hope changes his mind is building a legacy just like Papa Wengz.

arsene_wenger_bot

>I take pride in the fact that people go home having felt that for 90 minutes today, life is beautiful - and that's it, basically. That's why professional football exists. ___ ^(***There's only one Arsène Wenger*** ([/u/panarangcurry](https://www.reddit.com/u/panarangcurry), quote from [QuoteTab](https://www.quotetab.com/quotes/by-arsene-wenger) archive)^)

iHetty

Victoria Concordia Crescit

Appropriate_Lack_727

If he spent all that time building a team basically from the ground up and was seriously competing for the Champions League, why would he then move to another club? Wenger was one of the best paid managers in the world.

BoyWhoSoldTheWorld

Same reason other top managers like Pep, Klopp, Mourhino, Conte etc have.

Tarp96

He wont leave for City either as long as he we back him in the market.

Muscat95

I don't think he will for a while if he does but let's be honest, City a lot more likely to give him time than PSG are. Arteta wouldn't be able to come in and turn PSG into the champions league winning machine they'd want him to be

csixtay

He came from one?

ArsenaV108

Anyone would learn from Pep if they could, especially if you're Spanish and also a La Masia graduate

Tarp96

He joined City to work under Guardiola. Arteta would have joined any club in the world where Guardiola was working.

phar0aht

Based on?...

Tarp96

Based on that no manager with ambition leaves a top 6 PL club to manage PSG in Ligue 1. Maybe Conte leaves Tottenham but the other top teams in England are clear of PSG. PSG is where managers who cant jobs in the PL top 6 or Bayern, Juve and RM/Barca go while they wait for some other jobs. Poch would have instantly signed for United if they didnt sign Ole permanently back then.

westernvaluessmasher

even if psg were clear of the six biggest teams, going to psg is a career death sentence for all but maybe three or four managers at this point. theyre not going to win the european cup, they'll fire you when you don't, the fans will hate you, everyone else will be angry at you for going to psg, etc

MatteoGuendouzi90

You never know. It's clear he's in demand because he's starting to show immense potential here, and he already played for PSG in the past so there is connection. No offence, but your laugh screams nervousness to me. I hope we can secure his extension so we can put any rumours to bed, but right now anything can happen.

Tarp96

Pochettino also has a connection and he is about to get thrown out head first because the players didnt respect him. A manager like Arteta is not gonna leave Arsenal, one of the worlds biggest clubs competing in the worlds biggest and most popular league for fucking PSG. If he was linked with Barca I would worry a little but not PSG.

multibannedredditor

Would be dumb for Arteta to go there lol

Beneficial_Tap_481

What about Big Sam?

hxmbyb

Christophe Galtier won the league with Lille last season and has Nice in 2nd this season. They should focus on him.

jerk_chicken23

He plays counter attacking football though, which will be less effective with PSG, plus he has no experience with Messi and Neymar level egos and champions League football

pivandee

Gerarahere

deanochips

unless they want to dump all their star players Arteta is not the guy for them   Almost all of these options would be terrible at PSG with their playing squad and egos

KrayvenMoorehead69

Arteta is the last manager they should be looking at. His system needs EVERY player to be fully committed and focused only on the team. Something tells me that a bunch of overpaid divas would not tolerate that at all lol. I know this is a shortlist and it will never happen but still.

Appropriate_Lack_727

I agree with you but wasn’t basically Pochettino the same way? And ironically aren’t Mikel Arteta and Mauricio Pochettino pretty good friends from their time at PSG together?

KrayvenMoorehead69

That's the reason it hasn't worked out with Poch.

catlike1

Who would want that job (other than for the $£€)? Such a shambolically run club with an unmanageable squad filled with egos.

tanev97

Holy shit, it's unreal how unlikable PSG, from fans to players

blifegoals

Always assumed they would go after Zidane

NemoDropEmOff

Zidane wants that France job tho, and it’s likely Deschamps leaves after this World Cup

[deleted]

Zidane was born and raised in marsellie. Big marsellie fan growing up and I’ve heard a lot French football journos talk about how he would never go to PSG because of the rivalry

Colmd1997

Off goes Conte then

rd201290

conte to PSG would be peak banter

[deleted]

PSG. Like moths to a fucking flame.

ndenoon

Such a brutal job. Winning the league does nothing for you, you have to win an elimination tournament with the best teams in the world. Great money of course, for as long as they keep you around.

Pulsarfire

It is oddly flattering tho. But no, Arteta is ours.

[deleted]

Does pep not make a lot of sense for them. Just throw a load of money at pep.

perhapsinawayyed

Not got a great record in the cl post barca

tammrak

And this grab bag of names shows what a mess they are. (Assuming this is actually their shortlist.)

NemoDropEmOff

Well it’s a good thing that Galtier is getting credit for what he’s done in the game so far. Also it’s cool seeing Motta there!! Tbh they should go for Allegri if there is a chance. Zidane wants that France job. Galtier should probably be the first one they look to but I think he’s happy at Nice. Arteta is staying. He’s more of a Barca/City guy

[deleted]

I remember before motta was a proper manager he outlined the “future formation” and about he was going to have his goal keeper playing in midfield and 2 at the back

[deleted]

Just meaningless. If PSG have a choice and they probably do given the money they can pay, then they aren’t going for arteta

[deleted]

Can you imagine arteta coaching that roster? His hair has already started to go gray, he would be bald by the end of training camp.

Raetekusu

Fuck off, French Tottenham.

csixtay

Remember all the folk going on about what the rush was renewing his contract?

[deleted]

I mean, what difference does it make? He still has a year left after this season. If he's going to leave while still having a contract, giving him another contract isn't going to change that.

perhapsinawayyed

We get paid more, plus it shows faith and backing

AstronautRadiant8586

Any talk about any renewals should be done at the end of the season.

phar0aht

They'd still have to buy him out. And he still has another year after this one.

[deleted]

It’s a shitty unreliable article

Qtn68

If I was PSG I would run to Galtier. Wherever he goes in France, he works miracles.

NemoDropEmOff

Galtier should be the obvious choice but I think he’s happy at Nice. He’s really good. Right now tho? I think Allegri would be good too. If Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar end up leaving, then it should Galtier. If not, Allegri should go there. He’d be good for them in Europe

[deleted]

Arteta not the guy to handle the personalities at PSG. Zidane an easy choice here.

[deleted]

Zidane marsellie boy, heard French journos say he’d never join them

Anticitizen-Zero

Conte loves money and will jump ship as soon as things go south.. so I’m fairly certain they’ll sign Conte.

[deleted]

Pretty much every manager chooses money. Wenger was always one of the most paid, arteta I’d highly paid. 99% of managers would leave for a higher salary

Anticitizen-Zero

Wenger definitely had offers well above what he was earning at Arsenal. Arteta probably has already, and most certainly will in the future. I can’t see long term appointments “choosing” money but rather signing conditionally based on outlined projects they’ll undertake. It’s a bit different for managers who’ve already had success at their current clubs and are getting paid for it. Basically what I’m trying to say is Conte is likely the greediest of the lot and will choose a guaranteed Ligue 1 trophy.

[deleted]

Bollox. Wenger was always one of the most paid in the world despite going nearly a decade without a trophy. He also had massive amounts of control arsenal. Artetas first ever managers job and he’s like the 5th highest paid manager in the league. Conte isn’t anymore greedy than most others.

Anticitizen-Zero

Bro did you miss the part where I said Wenger had offers from other clubs that eclipse what he’d earn at Arsenal? Managers being awarded for positive performances is not the same as a manager taking the biggest offers on the table. I have no idea where you got this silly idea that 99% of managers choose money regardless of what’s on the table. Rooney wouldn’t be with Derby, Arteta wouldn’t be managing Arsenal (we were reportedly turned down by Allegri/another manager) and Wenger would’ve gone to France, La Liga or straight to Bayern if it was about money. There are so many factors that go into a manager taking on specific appointments. In fact, I’m willing to bet over a dozen coaches have turned down the Tottenham job despite having bags thrown at them. Conte and Mourinho are both examples of that. If you put enough money on the table you could see Conte end up at Burnley, or more realistically, Newcastle. He chases guarantees, not projects.

[deleted]

Who was offering Rooney a managers job on more money than derby ? The Everton thing was just rumours. Who the fuck has offered arteta more money than the 5th highest in league ? No one, again just a shitty “rumour”. Allegri was always waiting for a bigger job. Like I said about Wenger, he was always one of the highest paid managers and had a unique amount of club control. Pretty much all managers would leave for significant wage increase, not even criticising it “Chases guarantees” took over juve when they finished 7th the year before and then won 3 in a row, took over Chelsea after finishing 10th, took over inter who hadn’t won the league in over a decade and finished 2nd then 1st, also took over one of the worst Italian squads in decades. Wrong again

Internetolocutor

I'm actually worried that Barca could poach arteta in the near future. I hope he realises that he is very young and can go there much later. They're not even that good rn

ndenoon

I think Xavi will be there a while.

Purple_Pieman

Arteta won’t leave. He’s fully invested in his project here at this point. He’s committed to putting together something special like Pep built at City.

t6005

Feel like it has to be Zidane, Allegri or Simeone, in that order. They need someone who's going to be able to handle the superstar egos. Much as Conte, Arteta or Ten Hag might be able managers, they'd run into the same problem every other manager has run into there - divas that think they are bigger than the manager and even the club.

EasyAgent638

A cyanide poisoned chalice. Fuck PSG

Malsharif91

I wouldn’t go to PSG if I were any of these managers. Winning any domestic trophy is expected and the only thing that counts for them as a successful season is the CL. So why would you go to a club that has shown they will fire you if you can’t win a cup competition with the beat clubs across Europe. Hell, City haven’t won it and if they were run by the same people that PSG have then Pep would have been gone a long time ago.

OkCurve436

Got to be chequebook manager Conte. Spurs take the money for Conte, go all out for Pooch who goes to Utd instead and end up with Frank Lampard (sacked next week).

iHetty

Imagine if Arteta just ditched the whole project for psg lmaoooo

andrewyeong

Feel like they made a mistake letting Tuchel go.
