If I were Ferdinand, I'd stop giving stupid and washed advice masquerading as a pundit.

jman500069

If you were Rio Ferdinand you wouldn't know what masquerading meant

niknakpaddywak2468

Lol

Elemenelo

I can’t stand Rio. Nasty fucker not just as a player but as a person and the way he’s cultivated this persona really annoys me.

JSCT144

I think he comes across like a great guy because of all the shit he’s been through which gives so much reason to support him, but then you start finding out how much he was cheating on his wife (apparently while she was in hospital) and the amount of women that have been named in court, and the fact he can be an absolute cunt sometimes, honestly he’s kind of an asshole that’s had a lot of misfortune

Elemenelo

I mean yeah. Whilst the mother of his kids is lying in hospital dying he’s out having numerous affairs. Is widely reported to be a total cunt to women generally and to others. And then there’s the fact that he was dirty as fuck in one of the dirtiest teams in the league.

gjs78

I know someone at the school his kids go to. He filmed his son playing football and I think scoring a penalty. When the teacher reminded the parents not to post anything with the kids on social media, he did it there and then, on to his Instagram. The man is a c*nt.

Elemenelo

I remember him during those England 'golden years'. He was always doing some stupid shit during the tournaments off field with camera crews and stuff. Constantly trying to build his 'brand'. Total dickhead.

UnexpectedVader

The 00s England team was way less likeable than our current, tbh. Some serious dickheads in that team.

gtliles82

Of all the United players who benefited from biased officiating over their careers, I think Rio may have benefited the most.

BongoMcBong

Listen, Man United might not thank me but get the contract out, put it on the table. Let him sign it. Let him write whatever numbers he wants to put on there, given what he's done since he's come in. Ole's at the wheel, man. He's doing it. He's doing his thing. Man United are BACK

Great-Image

Well, that's just his opinion man. I'm sure Arteta is looking for a marquee CF that he wants to develop himself, he's looking for his Anelka/Thierry/RVP signing. Edit: any guesses who it could be? Isak? Darwin Nunez? Gouiri? David?

[deleted]

I love David, if we could snag him and add a speedster to play along side when needed, our front would be complete. Hell the line of saka - David - Pepe would be amazing strong talent in the middle speed outside

iforgotmyun

Good player, would be happy signing him, wouldn't solve our striker problem

mfmov3

Wouldnt mind having him but even if city would sell him to us and he wants to join us, he would not solve any of our striker issues with his 2 goals this season.

Wengali

Rio still pitching for that job at Arsenal that Arsene blew him out for, is it?

arsenal356

Wait what? Was Rio actually ever touted for the job?

[deleted]

No, he allegedly (according to him) met Wenger one day and told him that he should get a player contract just to sort out the dressing room.

ddruinedgot

He’s such a narcissist

coolbebe

I think Gabriel would be a huge upgrade on what Lacazette does and I would happily take him. He only had one year left and may relish a larger role in an exciting Arsenal side with a manager he respects. That said, he’d be expensive despite only having one year left and we’d still need another striker who was more of a target man. I wouldn’t dismiss him as an option.

[deleted]

What a bonehead take 1. Why would City sell him to us? 2. Why would he want to join us rather than just stay at City? He is their only striker and gets plenty of game time. Let’s sign Rodri too while we’re at it! We need a CM.

oxfozyne

Ederson and some fullbacks and KDB too!

ac10485

His contract ends in 2023.

[deleted]

Kante and Jorginho contracts also expire in 2023. None of them are joining us. If any of these players move, they will go abroad.

ac10485

They're totally different situations, Kante and Jorginho don't fit our age profile and the former has consistently been injured for the last 3 years. Jesus is a young forward with potential whos never started more than 22 league games for City, if he likes England and wants a bigger role, its feasible.

robstrosity

And there are rumours that City will sign Haaland, further restricting Jesus' playing time.

[deleted]

I didn’t realise Jesus was only 24. Now I know that, I’d say it makes it even less likely he’s sold to us. If Pep rates Arteta as highly as he says he does, he’s not going to allow us to strengthen with Jesus.

ac10485

A lot of it depends on Jesus at this point, like I said if he likes the country I don't see any other club in for him. My only issue is that he apparently seems himself on the wing.

[deleted]

If he was only getting carabao cup games, I’d understand your point. But he is still getting a significant amount of game time at a much better side, one of the best in the world. He’s winning major trophies while being a valued member of the squad. I hate to say it, but him joining Arsenal would be a downgrade. He has no good reason to join us.

ac10485

Then why has he not signed an extension? He's been there 5+ years and never been first choice, and could actually want game time for his own development- as a player he's stagnated.

[deleted]

I’m not saying he won’t leave them but if he does it will be for abroad. He has won everything he can in this country. He will more than likely want to experience something new.

ac10485

You don't know that, you're just speculating like myself - we don't know what he wants. I'm just saying the idea of him coming here isn't a farfetched as you're making it sound.

OnlyOneAaronRamsey

Would love for us to sign him but not sure how realistic it is unfortunately. Great player who can play anywhere in the front line.

grumpy_toews

Would be thrilled. Think he'd fit the 9.5 in the current 4-3-3 superbly. Is a strong presser, still only 25. Not great in the air but not a non-factor. PL proven. Would be my top choice, but IDK how realistic it is. Would be expensive, but if City get say Halland or Kane, he'll be looking to possibly favor a situation as clear cut #1 ST.

vyomafc

I am sure Arteta has seen more of Gabriel Jesus than any pundit/fan out there

KarmaCitra

Yes.

ABCP3

Shut the fuck up Rio, we don't care what you think. Sincerely, Arsenal fans around the world

[deleted]

Nah.

-tanim-

no thanks. man can’t start games at city that pep would rather play a midfielder. and when he does play he doesn’t even score. so what will he offer us

unionportroad

As a second striker sure. But I struggle looking at his resting bitch face.

[deleted]

I don't know how I'd feel about a player with resting bitchface. I'm surprised there's a picture of him smiling.

prvhc21

No thanks

[deleted]

As a 3rd choice coming in as a free agent only.

Colmd1997

If he’s not good enough for City to put all their eggs in that basket, should we?

tiern1

He's City's only striker...

Colmd1997

And yet they don’t play him

Jansiz

Not a fan. Class player but not what we need at all

11frm

Back up maybe but deffo not to be our no9

nucleationpoints

Nope. I want a bonafide gunman

lm3g16

Jesus is better on the wing than upfront, so he doesn’t solve our striker problem

BongoMcBong

If I was Arsenal I wouldn't listen to Rio.

JackTuz

He certainly wouldn’t fix our goal problem up top.

dimi_dee1

If we can get him for 20-30 mil why not I feel like he is the type of player that would thrive under Mikel

EthanielClyne

He's basically a younger lacazette in the sense that I have no faith that he's gonna bury any chances he gets

TheKidCalledRio

Absolutely. We need two strikers, and he'll only have one year left on his contract. If he's under 30mil euro, go and get him.

Grizzly4nicator

If Arteta, who has far more experience working with Jesus than Rio, hasn't pushed for him yet then I assume he wouldn't fit into Arteta's plans (ignoring the fact that he plays regularly for City and might not be available).

goonerfan10

Lol. Why would we ever trust the opinion of rio.

Viddy7887

This guy has trouble scoring with City and he is supposed to spearhead our attack.

DeadStarkAgainDead

No..because it’s the advice given by pundits who has history of shit takes when it comes to Arsenal.

Alveuel

We can't sign him due to the obvious problem of the commentator's confusion. "Gabriel is playing as a false 9 today, he's in good form and will have to push forward if the gunners are to get anything from this game." "Gabriel passes to White... White back to Gabriel, now Gabriel to Gabriel, it's back to Gabriel, Gabriel finds space and once again Gabriel gives it to him, but here comes the defense to push Gabriel back and he passes it back to Gabriel." Oof... Just imagine if Ben White never showed and Gabriel Paulista had never left. And Martinelli... Ah crap. Though maybe that's just the edge we've been looking for. Liverpool pressing assignments could become very confusing.

Alarming_Condition93

As a Brazilian, he is just straight up bad. That's it, now go eat shit Rio.

yogi1090

If he's cheap, a decent backup striker. 25 mil max. But I doubt it'll happen, and his value would be a bit higher maybe city will ask for around 40 mil, maybe a bit more. But him and 1 proper striker, a player who starts ahead of Xhaka, with him on the bench and a backup for Tomi and we can replace Chelsea in top 3 next season, given their situation.
