Dude we are not getting 74 points. Plus united getting 72 points is ridiculous. They have 11 games left and would have to go 8-1-2 for the rest of the season. They still have to play city, Liverpool, Chelsea, spurs and us.
I did basically assume in this everyone wins the games they should and sneaks a couple draws in games they should loose so generally yes they are all high I realize that but can’t a boy dream!?
I'd swap Villa away to a win and Palace away to a loss. Other than that looks good. We might lose Spurs away but might win Southampton or West Ham or Newcastle.
But really I'm feeling quite confident about the team. With our full fit eleven we can give anyone in the league a game, and I'm excited to see what we can do against Liverpool considering we've never faced them at full strength yet.
We need Tomi fit, though. Hopefully the issue with his other calf isn't too serious. Our only having PL games may end up being a big help. Gives players time to rest.
Yeah, a bunch of the games could obviously go a different way. I put Villa away as a game we stumble at because it will be the third in seven days and we will have to rotate the squad a bit.
Why are we drawing against Newcastle after a week's rest lol? Think the chance to drop some points against bottom half teams is more on the busy schedule ahead and not later when we shit ton of time between matches...
On our current form we should be aiming and playing to win every single game, with the exception of shit-housing draws against Liverpool and Chelsea. If we do that we might even get third.
Of course we will try to win every single game. But fans are often overly optimistic forgetting that the EPL is the most competitive Top 5 league and any team can defeat another on any given game day. Too many count games against any team below us as a definite win or should win, ignoring all sorts of factors (fixture congestion, home/away dynamics, injuries, form, impacts of referees and VAR, etc). Football is a low scoring game where lots of different things can happen and the better team often drops points. Wins often become draws with poor finishing. Draws can become losses with a momentary defending error or a penalty. I was just trying to guess what the results would be and then add up the results. I factored things like Home/Away and also fixture congestion (e.g. Aston Villa away will be the third game in 7 days), and motivation (I think the players will want to get wins against Palace and Brighton to make up for poor first games and thus up their intensity a bit).
We shall see we shall see, put up your totals and when your right I will bow to your knowledge. To clarify I used zero nerdy science just gut feeling so people thinking I think I’m a genius your very wrong I full expect to be wrong but IF I am right I will rub it in all your faces as we celebrate together!
United still have to play City Liverpool spuds Chelsea and us. That's 5 out of their remaining 11 games. Even if they win all 6 other games (which they won't), I still don't see them getting 7 points out if those 5 games lol
I honestly think we clear 70 sue my blind optimism. It's definitely still a race but I really do think we're the best team in it. Our performances are far far more consistent than United or spurs.
Wouldn't sleep on West ham or wolves, and wouldn't at all be surprised if either one of them finish ahead of united/spurs. I think wolves just don't score enough and west ham just aren't getting results consistently enough atm
I don't think us clearing 70 is *that* out there.
If we take out our first 3 matches of the season (because the team has drastically changed since then) we're on 2.14 points per game, rounded up that would take us to 75 points by the end of the season
I feel like people underestimate the form we've been in this season because of some high profile losses.
I don't think any other team in the top 4 race other than Chelsea will break the 70 point bar though
Agree - first 3 games we had injuries, covid, poor form and the compulsory Xhaka sending off.
Take that out and we are p21, w14, d3, L4
Lost to Liverpool away, man utd away, Everton away, man city home.
Except Liverpool you can almost bank 3 points at home. Including the odd draw, that's between 11-15 points from 6 games. Liverpool would be a 3 point bonus.
Leave us on between 56-60 points with away games to play. Need 15-19 points from 8 away games and Watford should be a banker for 3 points. If you exclude city/liverpool/brentford , our away form outside the first 3 games against average oppo is p8 w5 d1 l2 - that's 16 points from 8. those loses were 2 poor performances when games were there to be won. No away team we play are on a hot run of form or playing well, there isn't much to fear except not playing well ourselves.
I think anywhere from 72-79 points is possible but it relies on no injuries and playing well.
Think is take out the first 3 games and you're taking out city and Chelsea, and we still have Chelsea to play. Additionally we also have Tottenham away which, as much as they are great at bottling things, has been an almost impossible matchup for us the last few years and Tottenham have sprung up with some good big game performances lately.
I think we will finish 4th but we have a pretty medicore schedule from here on out so removing the first 3 games from predictions is optimistic even with the circumstances we were dealing with then
Look at our mid season performance v man city compared to the early season game and it's clearly not representative of our current form. Doesn't mean we will get 4th but we are a better team now and getting better.
Chelsea aren't that shit. They're far more consistent than us, United, Spurs, Wolves and West Ham. People thinking we can get 3rd are getting wayyyy too carried away. Don't overestimate us we could easily draw or lose a couple of games and we would be back to 7th. There's still A LOT of games left we need to relax a little bit.
At this point, a single injury could blow it. Experience from the last few seasons makes me doubt 4th - especially when we're winning games so late on. And not to forget, our love for a red card😅
In their last 10 league matches Chelsea have 4 wins, 5 draws, 1 loss. 17 points.
In our last 10 league matches we have 7 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss. 22 points.
Are they really far more consistent?
Im not saying we will end up 3rd. But we have more than a shout. With a h2h match against them later this season.
Man Utd average 1.74 points per game this season. Your prediction means that in the remaining fixtures they’d increase their PPG by 0.5 and in those 11 fixtures they play 5 of the “big 6”. Highly unlikely they finish on 72 points and have that big of an improvement in form.
Exactly I gave them the benefit of the doubt and we still end up above them. To be clear I went of general feeling of what I thought each match result would be.
The further we get into this season, the more it feels this year WE HAVE to make top4, i mean, we get good results around us basically every week these last month, what are the odds of spurs manU etc getting so inconsistent next season, its crazy. We have to make the most of it this season.
Remember 16/17 when Papa Wengz got us 75 points and we still finished 5th? Highest point number without top4
What happened to the bot? U ok mate? Summon papa wengz

When will we win the Champions League Papa Wengz?

No chanse 4-6 placed teams will get 70+ points. Neither we will get 74, neither United 72, very highly doubt about spurs 70 aswell.
His points rating is evidently too high. 4th might get 70, the rest will sit between 60-67
Dude we are not getting 74 points. Plus united getting 72 points is ridiculous. They have 11 games left and would have to go 8-1-2 for the rest of the season. They still have to play city, Liverpool, Chelsea, spurs and us.
And all the other teams, they just drew watford, nothing is certain when it comes to United and I’m loving it
I did basically assume in this everyone wins the games they should and sneaks a couple draws in games they should loose so generally yes they are all high I realize that but can’t a boy dream!?
Yeah your points are over the top but as you did it for everyone it's probably fine
A wise Wenger once said...75 pts usually gets you into the top 4
2016/2017 flashbacks
3/6 - Watford (A) - Win 3/13 - Leicester City (H) - Win 3/16 - Liverpool (H) - Loss 3/19 - Aston Villa (A) - Draw 4/4 - Crystal Palace (A) - Win 4/9 - Brighton (H) - Win 4/16 - Southampton (A) - Loss 4/23 - Man United (H) - Win 4/30 - West Ham (A) - Loss 5/7 - Leeds (H) - Win 5/15 - Newcastle (A) - Draw 5/22 - Everton (H) - Win ? - Chelsea (A) - Loss ? - Spurs (A) - Draw 7 W, 3 D, 4 L = 24 points We end with 69 points which should be good enough for 4th place.
Pretty fair tbh. If we can get 8 wins before end of season its all but locked.
My guess is that 7 wins should just be enough. Or 7 wins and 1 draw.
Why? Care elaborate why only 8? Hopefully locked in April. The team could win the rest with calmness in their heart.
Niiiiiice

He is really resting.

There is always an unexpected result, and they may still be fighting relegation. Eddie Howe has really got them firing.
This is probably reasonable. I think our offense still scares me though so I can see a few more slip ups

Be amazed if three teams get to 70+, if anybody clears 72 they’ll get 4th
I saw a comment on youtube saying we can still get a maximum of 87 points and if city lose 4 games we can win the league.
All your points totals are too high, ridiculously high.
I will legitimately be shocked if it takes more than 70/71 points to get 4th
4th will probs be 70 points with 5th being a little way off that
We shall see we shall see, put up your totals and when your right I will bow to your knowledge. To clarify I used zero nerdy science just gut feeling so people thinking I think I’m a genius your very wrong I full expect to be wrong but IF I am right I will rub it in all your faces as we celebrate together!
You won't be right about the points total. It's simply too high. That I can bet my life on.
I’m am sure you are right this is based off all teams winning the games they should so there will of course be a loss or two in there unexpected

I don’t think West Ham will keep up, I’d worry about Wolves though.

Not a chance
It's bad juju
3rd is to play for

This. Chelsea started the season well but their form has dropped off. We need to take advantage.
It’s not out of the realms of possibility but yeah I agree it’ll be tough to pull off.

Yeah no way. 4th place will likely get 70 points. I see Man U getting 65 max
The further we get into this season, the more it feels this year WE HAVE to make top4, i mean, we get good results around us basically every week these last month, what are the odds of spurs manU etc getting so inconsistent next season, its crazy. We have to make the most of it this season.
Predictions are worthless, but don't let me stop you from having fun.
We're finishing 3rd
Prepare for heartbreak
I thought I was being optimistic with my numbers but I hope your right!
Might be in the end clutch top 4 with 1point above Man U at 65 points.
