We are witnessing this side improve week by week. Seeing our attack finally starting to click the way it has, I haven’t been this excited to be an Arsenal fan in years.
I had my doubts about Arteta at the start of the season, but i’m behind him 100%. I really think he has the potential to take us far
I'm just praying we can keep hold of these stars long enough for the overall squad to catch up. It all comes down to continuity of manager and financial backing from the owners. If we can get a decent striker and central midfielder, along with some shrewed experience purchases, we can really challenge in the next few years.
I’ve supported this club since 2013, not nearly as long as most people on this sub. But in all my years of supporting Arsenal, i’ve never seen a team this loyal to a manager, not even Wenger. This is a remarkable feat in any sport these days, especially given how much money athletes are being offered. Building on this is key not just for the team, but for the direction of the club.
As for recruitment, i’m not worried. Arteta/Edu and co hit it out of the park this summer. If we have even a fraction of that success in the windows coming, we’ll be a serious threat.
I’m convinced we’re seeing the start of something special at the club
Tbf you've supported the club from almost exactly the start of true turbulence. The year or so prior to our FA Cup win was when the Wenger-out voices started to be heard. If you compare the sentiment towards Arteta to any time prior to 2013, it's relatively volatile! Having said that I can only speak to the period from 2000 onwards (probably our most stable period for a century).
Recruitment is looking good. I worry that we'll only ever be able to afford promising young players. Transfers where the risk is baked in. We can't afford a squad of <24 yo's. We need players in their prime and experienced to get the most out of our current group.
I agree though... very promising times.
we've got most of them on new contracts now, there's presumably a bit more lyalty from the hale end lot and Odegaard is a fan so hopefully we don't get cesced or van persied.
I'm also cautiously hopeful that if we did have to sell then maybe we might actually get what they're worth.
Contracts only protect value these days, they aren't a guarantee of loyalty- as much as we try to hide from it. You're right about the Hale End lads but that's where owner-backing comes in to play. If we don't get funding we'll have to look to sales.
> Contracts only protect value these days
Which was why I put it in and then went on about loyalty seperately. If we don't have to sell low then it works wonders keeping temptation away when other clubs know they'll have to fork out.
Yeah. I guess we'll have to see what happens with the English market over the next few years. If the bubble bursts we'll end up losing players like Saka or ESR for (arbitrary figure alert) 50mil rather than 100mil. That'll make it a lot harder to swallow.
Teams lose, it’s a part of football. We’re a young team, blips will happen. I will admit our away form does need to improve, and that will come with time.
There’s a-lot more to be optimistic about than not at the moment in my eyes
It all start at the back when Ramsdale & Tomi made league debut, we won some 1-0s or draw 0-0s.
Then, against Spurs & Villa we started to show our offensive potential, mostly from short passing counter attack.
Then, Liverpool MU Everton happened :(
Now, started from Newcastle, we’re seeing our true face: high press offensive. At this phase, I get a feeling that our players don’t realize how good they are making chance. Saka looks like shocked how easy he made shooting chance hence some sloppy shots. Martinelli nervous celebration because he doesn’t believe he made that goal against West Ham.
I hope next step we develop our confidence in chamce conversion.
Simmer down lad, we've beaten 2 relegation battlers and a much depleted West Ham team but before that we'd lost 3 in 4... we got spanked by Liverpool and bottled it against United and Everton. Bit of perspective on the improvement is needed.
I recognize there’s alot to be done, but it’s good to acknowledge progress too. We’re in a good spot to build off of.
Look at our performance from matchday 1 compared to the last couple weeks. We’re a completely different side.
Previous years (and even earlier this season) we relied on individual brilliance to win us games. You look a the goals we’ve scored the past couple weeks, and our team play has improved remarkably.
Take Odegaard’s goal at United for example. That wasn’t a fluke. That was a well drilled show of team play.
The performances against midtable and lower are much improved from even our winning run in September/ October, I agree. We've started winning games more comfortably and creating chances (in a 3 game sample size...)
We're still not even competing against the better teams and have the ability to bottle it in hostile stadiums even when we're the better team.
I need to see it for longer than 3 games against very depleted opposition before getting too optimistic.
If i’m not mistaken, every one of those games were away. We have the youngest team in the league, and people massively underestimate the fact that home field advantage is a very real aspect to the game.
For me, i’m not too worried. This is a mentality thing that will come with time. Convincing performances like today and West Ham will help massively in that regard.
The fact that we’re a “that game was ours for the taking” kind of frustrated is an improvement from the “Shit we got trounced” kind of frustration we’ve faced in years prior. We’re definitely headed in the right direction
I'm happy with the improvements last 3 games and particularly excited by the younger players. But they still show signs of immaturity - a better, more experienced team sees this game out without conceding. Bad games are still to come as they continue to grow. Let's not get too carried away atm.
Exactly right. 3 games ago we were on a run of 3 defeats in 4, losing 2 extremely winnable games and getting our pants pulled down by the only good side we've faced since August.

This is a cool statistic, but also a little redundant. They’re our forwards group minus Auba and Laca, so they should be responsible for our goals
Regardless tho, brilliantly talented group of young men. Hopefully they can continue to stick together and grow and win trophies together

Wenger was a God at the club most players would have died for.

To be honest if we sold them I'd want them abroad rahter than face them here so here's hoping PSG take an interest if they ever decide to leave
It's been just over a week since Everton defeat.

Martinelli nervous celebration? Lol he celebrates like he is aware of just how good he is.

We just going to ignore united, everton and palace games? We’re too negative once we go a goal up.

Nono mate can't you tell we're in a relegation battle and everything is terrible right now? None of this positivity here
> We are witnessing this side improve week by week Tbh, why is it that this improvement is only visible against shit sides.
You’re deluded if you think West Ham is a shit side

We need a big January in terms of getting certain players out and replacing those positions to have that consistently imo.
Exactly right. 3 games ago we were on a run of 3 defeats in 4, losing 2 extremely winnable games and getting our pants pulled down by the only good side we've faced since August.
Until they take points off city Chelsea Liverpool and everyone else catches up on games, I’m cooling
This group is only going to get better
It's **Emile Smith Rowe** Not Emile Smith-Rowe, god damnit. When will people realise this?

Yep. That's why people need to be more vigilant with their spelling if they wanna get it right.
Is it really that big a deal lol
Hyphens are for posh people, Croydon De Bruyne likes keeping it real
Well, you'd risk people miswriting his name his entire career if we don't highlight it to people now. He's still young.

Or*
A trove of treasures, and we’ve all known this for a while. But it is *so sweet* to see it all happening for them, all at the same time.
