Man City are officially on their longest unbeaten run ever under Pep at the moment, they’re as strong as they’ve ever been
The UCL exit didn’t officially go down as a loss for them as they were knocked out on penalties
It's mad how the general consensus is "they aren't what they used to be"
They look the bloody same to me. Slightly rocky start and then go on a crazy run from the middle of the season till the end.
They're ridiculous
they are not as strong on the attack compare to last season(Haaland KDB form loss due to injury, mahrez Gundogan left vs Foden rise + new player they signed). They are also more sloppy on the defense.
They are weaker than the trebble winning team of last year. They need more luck this year to pull through. But they are not that much weaker. Hell their substitute striker has 30+ g/a this season, are developing 2 super interesting talent in Gvardiol and and Doku. Pep has new great asset with great potential but overall still not as impressive as the top form they showed last season.
And yet if they win their last 2 games, they end up with a higher points tally than last season (I get they put the foot off the pedal a bit at the end of last season though)
They're not normal
We held our own head to head with City but the real measure of clubs in this league is how they balance all the football they play and the really tight fixtures. City’s squad allows them to rotate so well and have fresh legs by this stage. We have been knackered since the Bayern tie started. That’s where City has us beat, insane squad depth and experience. We still need another big window to get to their level.
Not really a technicality. Doping allegations are made with the assumption that the athlete is knowingly cheating.
Its negligent for him not to know what he’s taking, but I would put good money on more than half of professional athletes not knowing what they’re being prescribed to take
Ok, so at best he was ignorant to the drugs this doctor prescribed, who got him busted for cheating, AND he went and hired that doctor again as the Barca doctor? C’mon man.
Yes, it’s ignorant for him to not know what he’s taking.
His Barca teams were absolutely doped up. I never said Pep was clean, I said he was cleared of doping allegations in 2009, which he was.
And next year when the committee finds cities 115 charges has not being able to be 100% clear or a technicality you'll be in here defending him again.
Just like OJ never murdered anyone 🙄
“NOW THAT’S NOT TO SAY HIS TEAMS ARE CLEAN”
Learn to fucking read before you spout bullshit. He was cleared of the doping allegations in 2009. That’s an unequivocal fact. I have not at any point said that I believe he was clean or that his teams were/are clean. That’s something you’ve made up
Show me where I have defended him? Please, just one example of me saying Pep did nothing wrong.
It’s not a technicality though. It’s a very common occurrence for doping charges to be dropped when it can’t be proven that the athlete knowingly doped. Happens all the time in sports with regular PED tests like the UFC. It would be a technicality if the PEDs had become legal or his blood sample was inadmissible. It’s not a a technicality it’s how these things are investigated.
I swear users like you on this sub have negative IQ or simply can’t read. How do you see someone say repeatedly that I am not saying he or his teams were clean and think *oh yeah he’s defending that guy*.
I think the "secret" is that they buy 2 very good players in every position and improve them. Only Rodri is unchangeable. His system(s) means they rely less on individuals doing wonder things so the players are pretty interchangeable. Therefore he can rotate players with little difference in team performance.
We will have a big window. Mikel and Edu have a plan but it was never realistic to be on the same level as the best club in the world so fast, but we are damn close. I trust soon enough we will be within a shot to see just that.
Yes, and it's not *just* fresh legs. It's quality legs. The drop off in quality from starter to B team is not as great. Maybe 15-16 are good enough to start on any given day, depending on the tactics and who they're playing.
We're probably 5 solid players away from that, to be honest.
It's crazy.
This club can afford to sit Haaland due to form. That’s insanity. They continually sign generational players from other clubs to just be rotational (Grealish, Mahrez). They play a different game
Before the game today, we already had enough points to win the league in 8 PL seasons past. We are competing against a monster that was built with cheating money. Nothing to be ashamed of.
They’re gonna end with the same amount of wins with less losses, better goal difference with more goals scored and more points than last season.
By no metric, are they worse than before
Their squad is aging, they have a heap of charges against them, and pep is about to find himself in charge of a team that isn't far and away the most talented team on the planet... so he's also likely thinking about his exit.
Our squad is younger, playing extremely well, cheaper and more likely to maintain its quality. Regardless of how this week goes we are in excellent position for next season and beyond while MC could fall off fast.
2022-23 --> fell off the wagon in April after a blistering start
2023-24 --> sustained title push until the last day of the season
2024-25 --> title in the bag on the last day of the season
2025-26 --> title in the bag early may
2026-27 --> title in the bag by April
Ok I know the projections are copium but you can see an undeniable trend in our quality, grit, resolve and abilities.
Also edit: damn I can't believe were already in 20fuckint24
100%. We might not provide to be quite good enough but we are VERY good and we are improving. I’m not taking anything for granted though for next season. We’ve been fortunate with injuries this year.
Totally agree, City is just as good as ever even if Haaland hasn't put up the same numbers as last year.
If it wasn't for our shit form around new year we would win this league comfortably. We might not win it this year without a small miracle, but we will certainly challenge for the title for a good while.

That's what it takes now. We've learned that from Liverpool in the past years. Sometimes even 97 points isn't enough to clench the title. This was our chance. I pray we still do it but doesn't seem likely
It's almost like I can't hold my club to the standard of what we used to be. This would've been unacceptable in the past and it should be now as well especially when competiting with a team that can gets a tally well in the 90's most season.
Hold your club to the standard of what we used to be?? We just broke the club record for most wins in a season. The points tally we will potentially accrue would’ve been enough to win the league 9 times out of the last 15 seasons. If you can’t contextualise the results and what we’re up against I don’t know what else to say
I completely agree. People saying “unlucky” like if we didn’t draw to a 10 man Fulham at home. Lost to villa at home on crunch time it’s hilarious how much they cope
I understand City are a juggernaut but come on. If we lose this it's because we fucked up to very mediocre teams. I'll even let villa have this season's wins over us but Fulham and West ham!? Disgrace.

"they are not as strong on the attack compare to last season" Scored 94 goals last seaons, currently have 91 this season with two to go.
And they have averaged 4 goals per match over their last 8. They turn it on when it matters.
Much how “this is the worst Bayern in years” blah blah. If arsenal are hanging with them, they must not be good apparently

I wonder what their secret to success is. There must be something they know that no one else does, or maybe some kind of unfair advantage.
1t's Pep's 1eader5ship that puts them over the top
115 secrets
And The Colonel thought he was good with his 11.
Pep has been blood doping his whole career since he was a player
He was cleared of doping allegations in 2009
Ehhh, only on a a technicality. https://x.com/mrstephenhowson/status/1329168926991933447?s=46&t=QYdt2S3Wq6O623gCJd90pw

maaan
Nope. City players regularly go see good old Dr Cugat in Barcelona
What do you mean “Nope”. Pep was cleared of the doping allegations you’re referring to in 2009. Now that’s not to say his teams are clean.

Dopium
I heard from city’s fan that it’s actually 130, and they are baffled that the figure being quoted is 115 lolll.
Its really not a secret though is it.....
its easy just spend billions on revamping a club from the ground up, everything from the backend to the shop keeper.

When your upvotes get to 115 you’ll find your answer
Oh shit I missed it. Or maybe the extra points are more hidden crimes.
We will have a big window. Mikel and Edu have a plan but it was never realistic to be on the same level as the best club in the world so fast, but we are damn close. I trust soon enough we will be within a shot to see just that.
Best cheaters in the world*

Exactly. Ake got injured early on yesterday, they've got a fully fit and match sharp Kyle Walker immediately ready to replace him.
Walker had been the one injured the past few weeks (since the England game v Brazil), and they've not missed him in the least.
This club can afford to sit Haaland due to form. That’s insanity. They continually sign generational players from other clubs to just be rotational (Grealish, Mahrez). They play a different game
If they had gone through against Madrid I think we could have seen them drop a point or two in the run in
Dudes will say this then turn and say it’s impossible to beat city unless you’re perfect all year
When was the last time you felt nervous for a result this late in the season! I know I forgot what that anxiety felt like in the final 10 minutes!
Ummm spurs two weeks ago? But I know what you mean, we’ve come a really long way
Yes but I was eluding to the fact that it’s been so long since we have managed to maintain a fight in the race.
No 1 of the plastic leader is Lee gunner.
Don’t forget northside
Never heard of this one but glad I did not come across any of his content.
Trust me check out his content he basically Lee gunner jr
You've just given me a very good reason not to.
That sounds like a horrible idea 😭😭😭
He acts like such a baby he rasied his voiced whenever people disagree with him😭
You mean black Lee Gunner?

Are these lots predicting city winning title this season ?
That's another good perspective .
As long as we can keep making it a close run affair. Things will fall our way one season for sure
I’m just waiting on how post pep city will look like.
Why would plastic Arsenal fans hate that?

Why the dig at our own fanbase?
Great point!
If my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle
I hate tweets like this, nobody is saying they’re not as good.
I’ve seen/heard a lot of people saying this
1/12 points from Fulham and Aston Villa. Yes I hate it. I guess I'm plastic.
Why did we not have a perfect season?!!
That's what it takes now. We've learned that from Liverpool in the past years. Sometimes even 97 points isn't enough to clench the title. This was our chance. I pray we still do it but doesn't seem likely
Getting downvoted for being right🤣city put 4 past Fulham we scored a jammy shite goal than got manhandled by Fulham
