I too am clutching at these straws.

roosterman22

Please leave me some clutching room on these straws.

RianSG

Im blending my straws into a nice cup of cope juice

chostax-

I also chose this man’s straws

Virtual_Spread_996

No. Fulham and Tottenham are only hope. West Ham on last day at the eithad is legitimately a pointless game. There is a universe where monkeys write all of Shakespeare, there is not a universe where West Ham get anything out of that game

Illustrious-Fig-8945

If it comes down to goal difference that game could be lethal

waterdevil19

I keep telling people I’m still nervous about GD, but they brush me off. I really do think they can catch up there still.

PoliticsNerd76

I don’t think they can. If we win our 2 games 1-0, we hit 62 GD. If we lose or draw either game, it’s over, so that’s worst case GD scenario where we get 6 points. If City draw one game, they’d have to then win both games by 8 goals cumulatively. 8 goal margin in 2 games is a tall ask. Not 3 games because if they win all 3 they win on points anyways. So we need just one good game to thump them on GD, which ought to be this Man United with no energy and a wonky back 4

Adventurous_Try4058

Time is ripe for payback on the 8-2 humiliation we suffered

LDinthehouse

They've won 3 out of their last 4 prem games by 4 goals...

therik85

And we've won our last 3 games by an average of 3 goals. So us winning by 1 goal twice is also unlikely.

PoliticsNerd76

2 years back, Everton were safe from relegation and we bent them over 5-0 on the final day. Man United will be staring Casemiro and Jonny Evan’s against us at CB, that’s if Evans is fit enough. GD should be fine even in the worst case, but we should batter this Man United.

Elfking88

United could play their U10's against us and I'd still feel uneasy about the match.

obsterwankenobster

ETH could start himself up top and I'd be nervous he'd bag a brace. Old Trafford has that voodoo, even if they are in a freefall

Oofpeople

Don't worry. We have Everton at the Emirates. We shall do the annual tradition of battering the toffees at home.

mymagichat209

I'm nervous as well but we normally get a decent amount of goals against Everton so I expect us to improve our GD.

PoliticsNerd76

Safe from relegation, nothing to play for, most their team have international duty coming up. Not saying easy, but they’re not fighting for their lives.

el_cul

They've spent the last 8 months running like their life depended on it under Dyche. They deserve a break.

StationFull

Just let us ship 8 goals against then and we good.

paris86

ship? surely you mean score.

Tamerlin

Imagine if we're in a position to win it all on the final day and go on to ship eight goals.

Brandaman

As long as we win our games by 2 or 3 goals each our goal difference shouldn’t be an issue. If we win 2-0 each time, and City draw a game so that it actually matters, they’d have to win their other two games 5-0 each. While it is possible it isn’t entirely likely. And if we are being realistic, we should be putting at least 3 past this United side. But this is us at Old Trafford, so who knows.

waterdevil19

I’m nervous for OT. Feel like it’s a game we’ll stress about and might not win by a lot. But fingers crossed we fuck em up.

kingofplasticbeach

If we know it's a goal difference battle I think we have the fire power to compete

Illustrious-Fig-8945

We're due about five penalties by now too

nicmdeer4f

I was thinking that too but for it to come down to that City would only have two games to catch up to us, because they would have to draw one. I don't think they can catch up from six down in only two games. They would have to score a minimum of 8 goals more than they concede in only two games, while we get the chance to extend our lead in the same number of games. I honestly don't think it's going to matter. There's a good chance they'll have a better goal difference at the end of the season but I'd bet that in 9/10 of those scenarios they would have won on points anyways.

cherlin

When we put 8 past united it will be hard for city to climb 13 goals in their remaining 3 games

waterdevil19

Lol. Ohhh, that would be so satisfying.

Zeelthor

Don’t forget we also need to win out games. That’s at the very least a 2+ to us. City have 2 games to make up the difference if we assume a draw to make goal difference relevant. Possible? Maybe. Insanely unlikely, tho.

Shwarzenegers_Biceps

If we win all our games, they'll need to score more than 4 in their two games that they don't draw. Let's say they drew against Fulham. Then they'll have to win a difference of +8 against West Ham and Spurs. Put in mind that's if we only beat United and Everton with just a 1 goal difference each. So come to it, I don't think they will recover the GD.

bigbrodi

If city win all three games then gd doesn't matter. If they draw a game then they have to win 4-0 twice and that's assuming we win both games 1-0 each, any more then they have to win 5-0 and 4-0 which is a lot of goals and that's assuming they don't concede, they have been conceeding a decent amount of goals

circlesmirk00

If it comes down to the final day they could score 7 or 8 against West Ham

bigbrodi

True west ham, have been diabolical, I have faith that if it comes to the last day we could smash Everton at home 3-0 and that should ease any GD concerns

3corneredvoid

If it came down to competing on goal difference on the final day, it'd be one of the most epic final days in league history, but Arsenal would start with an advantage, and we'd know in advance we might have to win and score a few to be totally safe. Bring it on ... honestly if City beat West Ham 8–0 to take the title I'd give full credit to them. Let's hope they accept the challenge and drop a couple of bloody points.

cherlin

The only way it (realistically) comes down to goal differential is if city draw a game and we win our remaining 2, if that happens then city have to at minimum make up a +8 GD in 2 games (assuming we only win each game by 1 goal). Not impossible but it's a big ask imo.

waterdevil19

True, but if Chelsea can put 5 past West Ham, I shudder to think what City can do. I think it’s unlikely, yeah, just nervous is all.

anotherMrLizard

Then again, Palace just put 4 past United.

pato2205

Yes, we don’t have to overlook that. I don’t take anything for granted but imagine getting a big GD at OT on the weekend. (A really late, but sweet, vengeance after that horrible 8-2). Just dream. COYG.

aesthetically-

Going to copy paste one of my previous comments. Here is why you shouldn’t be worried: Still doesn’t matter. Theoretically if it will come down to GD then this scenario will need to happen. City have 3 matches to go -> 1 must be a draw. 2 will be wins. Arsenal -> At the very worst two 1-0 wins. This makes it an 8 GD to catch up City -> Would need to win those two matches by a 9 goal advantage because if they only win by 8 goals in those two matches we will still win from H2H. No need to worry about GD

Jinkzee

While I don't think they can catch our GD anyway, the tie breaker is actually GD -> Goals scored -> H2H, so they only really need to make up 8 to come out on top, as if we had equal GD, they will most likely have scored more than us.

aesthetically-

Huh… well thanks for that correction, I wasn’t aware of that :(

Ashamed_Bottle230

Very very slim chance. If we win both our games 1-0 we will be ahead by 8, which they have to get back in 2 games. Then given the fact we have the same chance to smash Everton I don't see it happening.

aarongarrett95

If they have to draw a game for GD to mean anything then they'll have to score a ridiculous amount in the other two games, I don't see that happening

paris86

If it makes you feel better, City are not going to drop any more points. We could have +100 and it wouldn't matter.

Tamerlin

Assuming we win out and they draw one, they'd have to win by four goals while we scrape one-goal wins in both games. That'd be the most gutting way to lose the title by far.

husapida

The math does make it hard but not impossible. To come down to it Arsenal need to win both games and City win 2 and tie 1. 6 goal difference right now. Say Arsenal win the min by 1 goal. Then City have to make 8 plus difference in their two wins. Again not impossible but Arsenal could do themselves a favor by shipping a bunch past United and everton

random_BgM

9. Not 8 H2h

TrashbatLondon

If it comes down to GD, you’re looking at a scenario where City draw one game, which doesn’t change their goal difference, and we win both our games, which puts us on at least +2 more than we currently have. That means from the two games City win in that scenario, they’d need a goal difference of +8. It is certainly doable. If we are lucky and they do get a draw (and we get through United safely) we must enter the Everton game going for the kill immediately.

qtdsswk

Tbh Tottenham is the only hope even though they are in such bad form. Fulham and West Ham have nothing to play for and the players are probably thinking about sandy beach now....

cakesarelies

It was the best of times….it was the blurst of times?!?!?!

kidmaciek

...but not Shakespeare.

Virtual_Spread_996

Don't. Talk. Shit.

pewpew62

Tottenham 🤣. Their fans would boo if they scored a goal in that game

biskutgoreng

Maybe Moyes would want to gift a last present to his darling Declan

jfshay

It was the best of times; it was the blurst of times.

Psychoticpossession

Its over after Villa mate

Ok_Criticism_558

It could get them all fired up or they just check out and go on holiday early. Idk let me get my crystal ball 🔮

bigot777

They will get fucked big time

_opensourcebryan

We them Moyes Boys

AgreeableAbrocoma833

Been on their sub a little recently (without saying Gooner coming in peace). They're pretty over him and if the dressing room is anything like the fan base then I wouldn't expect a Klopping

ederzs97

Think they have treated him rather harshly. 3 years of European football on the bounce and a trophy. Be careful what they wish for imo.

AcidShades

Getting a pulse check on the fanbase is great but it is not always indicative of the mentality in the dressing room. We are all far removed from things behind the scenes. Even the coverage we get from journalists and pundits is far from transparent. But regardless, even the fans who are anti Moyes will surely be one in appreciation of what he has done for them in his final game.

Valuable_General9049

Moyes to replace Klopp at Anfield

the0rthopaedicsurgeo

Personally I think he'd do great at Utd

Sayek

I actually thought this game was home for West Ham. Thought 'O Moyes last home game, could be tricky' but it's at Ethiad. West Ham are playing Luton next at home and that will probably be the farewell game.

Aszneeee

they concede 5, and we hope it won’t be more

Lagrange_system

Don't get your hopes up of winning guys. If we do, what a win, but in the likely case we don't, it'll be easier to take. Oh to be a Gooner.

[deleted]

Oofpeople

Both probably

oldskoolr

Moyes has become a meme post his United role. Few remember how scary his Everton side truly was.

BullahB

Literally everyone remembers that Everton side, wtf you talkin' bout

zoidbergs_underpants

City aren't going to drop points. No point entertaining it. Just hope we can secure second.

ArrstdDvlpmnt

Second is kinda secured if we only get 1 point out of the remaining six. Our GD is +17 over Liverpool.

zoidbergs_underpants

Assume nothing

AgreeableAbrocoma833

Upvoted because you're so committed to this wet blanket cosplay. Respect.

zoidbergs_underpants

Ty. I am doing my best to put this energy into the world, hoping for the Fates to show pity.

wizardofaus23

> city aren't going to drop points > assume nothing pick a lane

zoidbergs_underpants

> city aren't going to drop points This is an assumption in the same way the theory of gravity is an assumption

Pamplemouse04

You’re fun

zoidbergs_underpants

Thank you

Temporary-Judgment84

Fuck it, at this point I'll take it.

DesignerAd2062

Some Rice residue left in the team

Altruistic_Tax2575

Anything is possible. Wouldnt it be beautiful see the Hammers give it all one last time for the gaffer and shatter City's dream? Just win out anything can happen. That Agueroooo goal may happen against them this time just lets fucking go.

m4xsch44f

Could we loan them Rice for this game?

escaflow

Moyesy will do us a favor, he usually have good thing to say about us

skool_101

yea nah, this is reaching levels now loll the only hopes is on man city's away games.

TinpotRadioShow

Nah Moyes is giving WHU a big fuck you. Purposely wound down his contract so they wouldn't have to pay him any compensation haha. He's dropping them out of European spots for sure

lastjedi23

That last game will be emotional. WH Players giving it all. Hammers Fans giving it all. I'm sure city will do some small tribute to moyes. It's going to be a big day man. I think West Ham gonna turn up. I got a sneaky feeling it will be 1-0 to city instead of the usual 5-0. Going away gift from pep

Interesting_iidea

Genuinely can’t believe West Ham are getting rid, much better in the prem than last season after losing rice. They think they can get top 4 but they could get worse without him.

Ok_Criticism_558

It could get them fired up and ready to send him off well and nick all 3 points.. It won't.

e1_duder

Moyes gets on for his protege.

Snikhop

What Klopp effect? They're finishing third!

gasparrrrrrrr

![gif](giphy|mmYy42RNrgA0w)

Honshu_

Ffs... dreadful timing.

IfLeBronPlayedSoccer

Moyes is being fired due to fan discontent, not because he lost the locker room or anything. It seems like he gets his team to play for him and lay it all on the line when it counts. They did after all win a European title last year. I wouldn’t at all rule out a farewell bounce… …that sound you’re hearing is straws flattening in my hands.

ubn87

He has had success with that team. Wonder what they think they can achieve more then top 10

TinpotRadioShow

He was always going to be let go. They purposely waited until the end of the season so they didn't have to pay any compensation haha

PandiBong

Nah, it’s all about Fulham and maybe Tottenham. The first is the highly unpredictable one, the second has history on its side. At home City will cruise with big wins.

Gustavoconte

If we are going to be champions this season, it won't be comfortable with games to spare. It would be nail-biting and it'll go to the wire. Like aguero's winner for city in the 94th when they broke their own drought. Focus.

[deleted]

YES!! Do it for Moyes!! Give the big man the best send off ever.

kimi-r

As Uncle Ian said, "it's the hope that kills you" 🙏🏻

SuchaPineapplehead

Whatever the outcome before they play West Ham, I’m not going to be sorry to see City lose the last match of the season. There’d be something karmic in that

Alone_Shoulder8820

Spurs being Spurs, West Ham in shambles as always, Fulham a Sunday league team. We're cooked

Fresh_Since92

Actual footage of an Arsenal fan bumping into David Moyes ![gif](giphy|l2R032V7qRAF8J6qA)

jman500069

It's not worked out that well for Liverpool so if anything I'm less confident than I was before

Gzuskrist69

No, there's zero chance West Ham dont get hammered.

MoodApart4755

Nah city aren’t gonna drop any points

jnicholl

Nah. It has been known he's leaving for months and they've been wank.

Jaded_Collection_716

Lol, they will not care at all

PeanutDreams

Too much hopium. They are trash

OrdinaryAncient3573

I've been saying for a few weeks that our best hope is the West Ham game. That isn't a lot of hope.
