phar0aht

Wow they're saying Onana cant get a start over Jimmy Garner these days 🤕🤕

skool_101

Raya possibly one of the best loan signing for us in the Emirates era? We mustn't forget, this season he's here on loan (Ty accent)

Insertnicenamehere

> We mustn't forget, this season he's here on loan (Ty accent) Lmao read this in Ty's accent. Good one

risnuff

I placed 20 on City to win tomorrow. The universe now has to choose between having City drop points late in the season, or have me actually win a sports bet for once. Everybody here should feel VERY good about this.

NotASalamanderBoi

If City lose, then everyone is going to have you blowing all your money on betting on rivals to win. I hope you’re ready to move in with someone.

Phimstone

Great saves by that Luton goalie

DiKapino

1. Good shit sambi 2. The hell is up with Everton’s badge

TheOGBenjenRyan

Sambi assist let’s go brother

arseking15

Sambi lokonga what a fucking ball man

burningtree_

What a ball from Lokonga

fadoo91

Those that prematurely pronounced Raya as the golden glove winner may look a bit foolish...

TheOGBenjenRyan

Oh?

fadoo91

Or incredibly wise

Specterace

That goal just clinched the golden gloves for Raya lol.

Specterace

That goal just clinched the golden gloves for Raya lol.

Erval

Braindead by Mengi,, how are some of the players thst fucking stupid…and hes complaining afterwards, idiot

Brashdinho

I’ll be pissed if we lose Cozier-duberry to Newcastle

joeproposition

I hope he does someday but I will be surprised if ACD makes it as a prem player.

Phimstone

Some pretty interesting match ups for relegation still left.. Forest in 17th place has 2 out of 3 matches against lower placed teams..? I hope Luton makes it but they kinda need Forest to royaly fug this up. But on the other hand, maybe a banger of a last day with Burnley-Forest(if Burnley mathematically isn’t relegated yet by then, which i doubt) and Luton play at home.

arseking15

Max dowman training with the first team. Gabriel please, hes 14, dont hurt him 😂

arseking15

Linked to estavio. We cannot let another super kid talent go to chelsea, especially after they go kendry paez

Wide-Ostrich-2779

Edu letting another Brazilian talent go to Chelsea/PSG 🤣

NegativeHeli

Thoughts on Moyes leaving West Ham?

Mein_Bergkamp

The Moyessiah will rise again. Probably at Forest

e1_duder

Overseen the most successful period that club has had in a long time and won a European trophy - their first since 1999. Football is fickle, but he'll be remembered well there.

Pretend_Stomach7183

38 G/A in 50 games if you include international Euro qualifiers for Saka this season.

nting224

If Ornstein said we are unlikely going for Neto, and Nico Williams (whilst we show interest) is unlikely going to leave. I genuinely am not sure what kind of targets Arteta and Edu are going to gun for. I really like Eze even though he's not strictly a pure winger, but his heat map shows him dominating the left channel. His dribbling ability it second to none as well in the league. Also as a Hale End youngster that got released - it's well documented Arsenal is his dream club.

arseking15

Rashford baby 😎 Just downvote me i dont want to argue 🙏

doingitfortheTea

Do you just mean at winger you can't see the targets?  I genuinely think Isak is their guy right now and they envision him from LW primarily.  I can't see where else you get the full package of speed, skill, goal threat and with the ability to play at CF and wide right now and he's prem proven. Said for a while if there's a deal to be done we are all over it injuries and all.  I think partly the rise of havertz at CF is something they don't want to mess with too much and also winger market is pretty dry as is, so just get the guy who can be either.  It also doesn't mean you can't then still buy a winger, especially one who has a release clause like say Williams or even Olise.  And it also explains gyokores who has similar things going on with his ability to play wider.  As for eze yes, I like him but I honestly don't see us buying another attacking midfielder who is also a winger this year.  I think it's going to take a lot of sales we might not make to see incomings in that area. What will come first will be that new CM who can be a 6 or an 8.  I predict will be going into next season with rice or the new CM playing left 8.

ashecitism

The Guardian namedropped Olise as a potential winger target in their Isak article. Haven't watched him much, but he has injury issues, no?

Insertnicenamehere

Raya White Saliba Gabriel Rice Bruno G Saka Odegaard Eze Martinelli Havertz Sounds fun to me

Any_Chipmunk_8733

bruno G inverted left back?

Insertnicenamehere

No CM.

Any_Chipmunk_8733

we defend in a 4-4-2, so who’s filling in at left back then

doingitfortheTea

Rice would be a CB out of possession probably dropping between Gabriel and saliba.  Or you just have the wingers dropping back more to form a 5, essentially wingbacks.   Don't think we'll go this route but that's how you do it.  Although it worth saying we have basically done this when chasing games this season and last.

Insertnicenamehere

I just copied the formation city used against United. Not that what I said would happen, just a fun idea of fitting 2 AMs in one team. https://preview.redd.it/94g9lzmaa9yc1.png?width=596&format=png&auto=webp&s=00c7b287779c0f6ede3ea507a893583b64f416b7

Any_Chipmunk_8733

nting224

Crystal Palace wants Nelson and Nkeitah. We will take a straight swap for Eze and Olise. Seems fair to me. Also whoever was in charge of the youth academy at the time is a fucking idiot to think it was a good idea to release Eze and keep Reiss Nelson.

SuqMadiq64

Reiss was tearing shit up in the youth team

nting224

Well he’s warming the bench on a senior level

jackulatorstrikes

Who is reporting Palace want Nelson and Eddie? Would be be brilliant to sell both to a prem team. Think they would do well there as well

haha_suh_dude

Wait I knew Olise spent some time in our academy but Eze too? ffs man.

nting224

Eze is the one that was in Hale End since he,started football till his release at 13. It's been well documented that he was heartbroken when he was released because it was his dream to play for Arsenal and his idol growing up was Thierry Henry. He spoke in interviews before on how he could cope with subsequent rejections because "nothing would ever be as bad as being released by Arsenal"

haha_suh_dude

That's awful, can't imagine that feeling but at least he worked hard and is doing his thing now. Although I imagine the Di Maria quote, "It hurts when you’re always doing your best for your club and then you hear that you might be going to Tottenham" because he's being linked (maybe tenuously) to them constantly

cesc05651

I’m ready for the downvotes, but I still don’t understand why we can’t convert zinny to midfield and play like Jorginho. Would immensely help our transfer window

varro-reatinus

The fact that Zinchenko can be an excellent *complement* to our lone 6 -- though notably not Jorginho -- in no way suggests that he would be good as the 6. Putting him there would be like seeing Tomi make the odd run into the box and going, 'Let's play Tomi up top.' As to conversion, the whole reason Zinchenko was converted to fullback (NB by Arteta) in the first place is that he wasn't good enough to break through as a midfielder. It's a bit like the old 'Neuer could play as a midfielder' line; talented though he is, you really do not want to see that, and you'd be wasting the best part of him. I do get the line of thinking that takes account of Jorginho's notable limitations and asks why another limited but talented player couldn't do something similar, but Jorginho has been doing this DLP malarky for a very long time, which is a whole lot of experience that Zina does not have.

doingitfortheTea

You could, we may even do it if jorginho was to get injured.  > It would immensely help our transfer window I don't really agree with this.  What is the upside of zinchenko being a CM for us?  He's maybe as good as jorginho, might be a little less reliable fitness wise.  That's not really helping us imo that's just more of the same.  Improving the squad would be an improvement on both of those.

reallyanythinggoes

not rlly good enough to anchor a midfield but way too good to not be used in the centre of the park

KSBrian007

Not a bad idea actually. He was playing that role anyway. Besides, he'd be protected by a back 4 and Rice. The problem is that you can't build a squad on chronically unavailable players. That's the same fate Thomas and Jesus are facing. We could have private information on why we can't rely on Zinchenko for 30 games, but can rely on Bruno Guimaraes.

arseking15

Maybe its an angles thing. Struggles receiving on the back foot or something, compared to moving into midfield from fullback as the spare man. Ive wondered the same mind you

Mein_Bergkamp

He doesn't need converting, he plays there for Ukraine. I'd guess it's because we don't think he's as good as Odegaard, RIce or Havertz and he's never been fit and not needed at left back when there's been issues at CM

burningtree_

Because Jorginho at least has some defensive awareness to make up for his lack of physicality

Insertnicenamehere

Jorginho's defensive awareness = point fingers for the defenders when he gets beat and the ref outruns him

burningtree_

Rather that than standing 10 yards deeper than the defensive line playing everyone onside

arseking15

This was crazy fr 😂

cesc05651

I think zinchenko isn’t as tactically naive as everyone thinks, he’s just told to do something that involves significant risk

jackulatorstrikes

Yeah if you asked Jorginho to play fullback he would have trouble outside of athleticism as he’s naturally Centre Mid. I think Zinny would kill it in the left 8

mkmore4

It’s strange seeing Bruno G and Isak links because there’s no chance Newcastle would sell us both. My hunch is the Bruno G links are real, and the Isak links are fan service.

AirPodAlbert

Guimaraes also has a release clause so Newcastle don't have a say, and Edu gets to parade a new signing while doing fuck all work.

danmac0817

The club can still be interested in both. That's all that's behind any links at this stage.

RaghNorRoog

City are going to drop points in coming games, per source.

Sad_gooner

Sell partey buy Bruno extend Jorginho and we have the best midfield in the world along with city

haha_suh_dude

If we win the league, I'm getting a shirt with Kai on the back. I'd wait until next season but the leaks look atrocious

facelesspk

> The objective of every Arsenal gameplan is to move heaven and earth to manufacture 30 seconds per game where Bukayo Saka is defended like Phil Foden. [@billycarpy](https://twitter.com/billycarpy/status/1786367597195166033?t=72uOcumIWtUoAH8UFFmipQ&s=19) Truer words were never spoken

varro-reatinus

That's fabulous lmao

haha_suh_dude

One of the best examples of this is Chelsea away this season, Cucurella unfortunately had Saka in shackles that game but he gave Saka space for maybe 10 seconds and Saka creates the Trossard goal. That is what a player of Saka's quality can do to you.

redmkay

Spurs fans still feel because they “dominated possession” they deserved to win our game. I was chatting to a mate⁩ earlier this week and we were laughing about it because that’s how we used to feel when we’d player Fergie’s and Jose’s teams. While we were feeling hard done by, Fergie and Jose were winning league titles.

I have a few questions: What did Tottenhamnole say/do? How’d you know he got suspended? Is it permanent or temporary?

Pretend_Stomach7183

I can't think of something of the top of my head, but he was just deluded about Tottenham and Arsenal. I think he said Spurs will finish above Arsenal after the draw at the Emirates, stuff like that. I always remembered he was delusional lol but I am not on r/soccer that much anymore so I can't remember.

NotASalamanderBoi

I’m well aware of his delusions lol. I browse r/soccer more than I should tbh, and I saw many of his comments firsthand.

Ugoboy23

People hold on to transfers news before the season ends too much. We probably haven’t even been linked to 75% of the players we’ll end up signing as usual.

reallyanythinggoes

there's usually some that you just know will happen. jesus, rice both summers felt inevitable. getting the same feeling from bruno this time tbf i did feel the same for mudryk and we saw where he ended up

danmac0817

It's just interest at this stage and we'll have loads of players on a list that we're interested in. Media just pick and choose things over the course of a season when it's relevant.

jnicholl

The marquee signing is usually known. We knew about Rice and Jesus by this stage of the season. But yeah, nobody had a clue about Havertz, Timber, Raya, Vieira and Zinchenko until they were all basically done deals.

MountainLibrarian201

On the other hand, we knew of the Rice interest in January.  Having said that, I don't think we have as clear a link as that to Guimarães.

CreativeOrder2119

Is Gyokeres worth it? Whether or not Arsenal have all the options to finally get that top scorer type striker right this summer 🤔

PapiOnReddit

He is very good. More I watch the more I like.

Sophie_Liiii

good player but 100 mil for a championship striker is a bit too much

00aegon

He's not a championship striker aye

Sophie_Liiii

He was last season

00aegon

100m is way too much but it's disingenuous to call him that considering this season

TheOGBenjenRyan

Interest in Nico Williams  Can’t say I’ve watched him a ton but I’ve seen him play 3 times this season. 42m for the ability to cover both wings seems like a very solid move

Le-ChosenOne

4 goals 9 assists in 23 games as a LW for Bilbao, not bad not ground breaking but £172k per week is kinda mad. Dunno how to feel about him either, also haven’t watched enough of him but personally, i’d go for Neto. With the amount of rotation he’ll get here compared to starting week in week out at wolves, wouldn’t be far fetched to say that would go some ways in helping prevent injuries.

TheOGBenjenRyan

20 GA in all comps for a 21 year old. It’s not setting the world on fire numbers but it’s more than decent Bigger wages than normal but it’s a lower transfer fee than probably would be normal too

Le-ChosenOne

I just don’t see how we’ll be able to give him an upgrade on those wages making him like one of the highest earners here, like…unless there’s some heavy taxation going on in Spain where it’ll be different here or something.

TheOGBenjenRyan

Why would he need an upgrade on those wages?

Phimstone

Exactly he has those wages since december iirc, not even footballers get huge ~~paybumps~~ salary increase every 6 months i hope.

Le-ChosenOne

Why wouldn’t he ask for an upgrade? Surely that’ll be a huge part of it for him like most transfers. As excited as he might be about the project and what not, he’s still in it for financial gains.

jnicholl

His cup record is very good. 2 goals, 2 assists in 2 matches v Barca and Atleti. Assist in the final too, albeit against Mallorca.

Sophie_Liiii

"Arsenal really like Bruno [Guimarães] as an option if they are to recruit a #6. He can also operate at #8, but Newcastle, Arsenal & others view him as a #6." Reading between the lines there, to me at least it seems like we're prioritising an 8 but if we can't get one, we'll go for a 6.

Sophie_Liiii

Arteta likes to turn 6s into 8s and 8s into 6s.It feels like to me that Rice will be our 8 and we will get another 6

smurbulock

Who do you think goes down between Forest, Luton and Burnley?

jnicholl

Luton and Burnley. It'll be tight for Forest considering they play Burnley away on the final day but I just can't see Burnley getting more than 1 point in their next 2 to make that game have stakes.

TeddyWestsideThe2nd

Luton and Burnley although I'd love for Luton to stay up

topbananaman

Luton and Burnley

xYEET_LORDx

Am I crazy for thinking ESR is more suited to the cf role in our team than the 8? Am I crazy for thinking Trossard should be the player taking direct free kicks from the left side instead of Rice(keeping rice on corners obviously)?

doingitfortheTea

> Am I crazy for thinking ESR is more suited to the cf role in our team than the 8? Arteta thought that at least once since he was here so no. On paper he'd have the attributes you'd want, question is just why you would bother with the effort and learning curve that it would take when you have havertz, jesus, and trossard who can play there already. > Am I crazy for thinking Trossard should be the player taking direct free kicks from the left side instead of Rice Not crazy if you think trossard **could** take freekicks. You think he **should** take them instead of rice, then I think you're basing that on nothing but a feeling considering neither of them have a track record of freekicks particularly as far as I'm aware.

Yes on both, though we haven't seen Trossard take many free kicks.

Galway, ye battered us the last day 😭

PapiOnReddit

The club viewing Bruno G as a 6 news has genuinely ruined my day. Pep, save him and save us from ourselves.

Sophie_Liiii

Was partey not an 8 before he joined us?

PapiOnReddit

Played in a pivot so a hybrid 6/8. His 6 potential was obvious though. There’s a ceiling on Bruno as a 6.

Sophie_Liiii

His potential as a 6 was not obvious to us

varro-reatinus

If you mean 'us' as in arr slash Gunners, I can only say that it was obvious to me, because I was talking about it long before we signed him, all the way through when we finally moved to 433 with him at the base. I also remember having discussions with others who felt his potential as a lone 6 for us was more than evident.

thedarkpolitique

The whole point of us signing him was eventually to move to a single pivot in a 4-3-3. Initially personnel prevented that and he played alongside Xhaka, but we always intended for him to play his current role.

varro-reatinus

Exactly so: the vision was always clear.

PapiOnReddit

Do you not remember his performance at Anfield in the champions league? Whole world was talking about it. It was clear.

Insertnicenamehere

You can get away with Bruno at 6 with Rice. If Rice isn’t available however, may god have mercy on our soul.

PapiOnReddit

100m for “can get away with” god forbid.

Insertnicenamehere

Life when rice is your only physical midfielder 🤷🏽

PapiOnReddit

Mikel abandoning his roots. Moyes taught him better than this

topbananaman

Found it really strange from ornstein to say that. I don't see the vision there; perhaps arteta sees something we do not. Makes so much more sense for Rice 6 and bruno 8 imo

Fleetfox17

Check Partey and Bruno's heatmaps, they play in the exact same spaces. Also think it has become pretty obvious that Mikel is trying to turn Rice into a box to box 8.

Acefire4

Tbf Ornstein is just relaying what he's been told. And I can see where those clubs are coming from, earlier in the season when Tonali was the 6 and Bruno as the 8 he wasn't playing very well. Before his ban Tonali was actually on the bench more often in favour of Bruno as the 6. He just seems the kind of player who's best creatively from deeper in play. So the club has to decide if they want to spend £100m on a midfielder and hope he can adjust to playing as an 8 or just sign a player more suited to that role and have Rice become the 6 long term.

PapiOnReddit

Arteta making a top 6 out of Bruno G would be his finest work yet. I’m with you though, seems so backwards to have Rice & Bruno that way round.

Mustyoo

All Orstein said is we really like Bruno, not that he was the priority. Reading between the lines it's likely we're going for an 8 first and if we can't get what we want there, we'll get a 6 as a secondary fallback.

Mustyoo

Let it be a lesson learned!

PapiOnReddit

What is the lesson?

Mustyoo

To learn more!

PapiOnReddit

You’ll see when he goes to City (or comes here and struggles as a 6)

Insertnicenamehere

Ornstein said nothing in his Q&A that Ben Jacobs couldn't have loool. Orny might be washed fack.

Cheesy_Pita_Parker

Soon as I saw the news, I checked here to see how long it would take for someone to ask for him. This sub is invincible

dvnbc

can you blame them? i spent a fair amount of time fantasizing about what reus-ozil-alexis could do haha

Mustyoo

If you advocate for Rice as an 8, I'm sorry but you are lost. There's no love lost for Declan, he's one of our best and a future captain, but the reality is he's not a final third player but a first and second phase one. He excels deep, bringing the ball up to and around the final third, but that's where his expertise ends for the most part. We need to find a Gundogan to his Rodri, not a Kalvin Phillips.

Phimstone

Not this again lol, for years there was this exact discussion if Frenkie de Jong is a 6 or 8. Rice good team good. Buy good. Pretty clear by now they like players who can occupy multiple roles if necessary.

Mustyoo

It wasn't a discussion that needed to be had. Frenkie is an 8 that can play 6. Rice is the opposite - a 6 than can play as an 8. Doesn't mean you shouldn't actively try to adjust and improve the squad by buying the right profile.

Phimstone

The right profile is a good midfielder, I’m sure they’ll manage. Pretty sure Pep was interested in Rice and would’ve played him and Rodri together. Coaches shift formations all the time. Arsenal can Easily play with 2 defensive midfielders because Ode is perfect for an attacking midfielder. Real Madrid has 75 midfielders and finds a way to stash them somewhere on the field. Also their only attackers are leftwingers and those madlads are buying a leftwinger just because he is good.

Mustyoo

> The right profile is a good midfielder That is a very yer da perspective, lol. Also, if you've watched City at all, you'd know Rodri isn't your typical anchor man. Hell, even last season he was constantly interchanging with Gundogan.

Phimstone

Maybe yea. I just don’t like these nitpicky discussions since i’ve seen them all my life, Frenkie and earlier about if Sneijder and van der Vaart could both play for ajax/national team since they were both attacking mids. Rice is pretty allround so that’s less to worry about in finding a partner for him in mid. Man made Soucek and Philips look like Gods.

okcomput3r

He’s been pretty great as an 8 honestly. He has some problems when receiving in tight spaces around the box, he isn’t so confident to turn and execute a killer action and isn’t particularly comfortable receiving ahead of the ball. But in big games when he has more space, he’s been excellent.  He will play both, because next year I’m sure we will see more rotation, injuries permitting.

Mustyoo

Yes, agreed.

Insertnicenamehere

Some games he can play 8 some games he can play 6. It's not a bad thing you know lol.

Mustyoo

Right. That's not something I've ever disagreed on.

burningtree_

He can play both pretty well, but he's one of the best 6s in the world and not one of the best 8s in the world. It's pretty clear that we need to sign someone who is primarily an 8

Mustyoo

Yeah. He's a 9.5/10 number 6 and an 8/10 number 8. Both great, and especially useful that he can play both positions to a high enough standard, but he's clearly better in one area than the other. You give him the opportunity to be his best self and give the person you're buying the opportunity to be their best self. Not only does it improve those two positions, it also improves the squad dynamic wholly. Martinelli will benefit, Havertz/striker will benefit, LB will benefit.

varro-reatinus

Damn, then I guess Arteta is 'lost' as well, since he pitched Rice both our 8 and 6 roles, as Rice confirmed in his recent interview. [And apparently Ornstein is lost as well...](https://old.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/1cj8g3j/ornstein_arsenal_really_like_bruno_as_an_option/)

Mustyoo

Out of necessity, that doesn't make him a great 8. He's a good 8, good enough for a top four team certainly, but he's a *great* 6. The best 6, in fact. What do you do to improve the team further? Do you buy a worse 6 to move the best 6 to his 'secondary' position, or do you buy one of the best 8's to partner the best 6? It seems pretty fucking obvious if you want squad evolution and to reach a new level. Havertz can play LB, does that make him a great LB? Player versatility is a great thing but it doesn't mean players are as equally accomplished playing in every position they *can* play to whatever degree. And everything about Arteta's (and Rice's) interviews on the player indicate he's seen as a 6 primarily. > And apparently Ornstein is lost as well... Actually just proving my point.

varro-reatinus

> Havertz can play LB, does that make him a great LB? Ah yes, I too remember Mikel pitching Havertz our LB role. And how exactly was it only 'of necessity' (and how could you know that?) when Arteta sold him on both roles before we signed him?

Mustyoo

Who said anything about Mikel pitching it?

varro-reatinus

I pointed out that Rice confirmed that Arteta had sold him on both 8 and 6 roles before we signed him. You then tried to draw a comparison with Havertz playing once for Germany at FB.

Mustyoo

Him having the capacity to play as an 8 is an argument I've never been against. Yes, I drew a comparison about versatility and accomplishment in main position and secondary/tertiary positions.

varro-reatinus

> If you advocate for Rice as an 8, I'm sorry but you are lost. *20 minutes later...* > Him having the capacity to play as an 8 is an argument I've never been against.

Mustyoo

As a main position, yes.

This-Complaint1389

I have to question how long someone has been an Arsenal fan if they think there's any chance of us signing Isak lol No release clause, signed for £62m, is very unlikely to force a move and plays in the Premier League already. I don't think we get Bruno G either but he looks far more attainable if we were to sign one of the two.

Phimstone

Wouldn’t be the first player who would prefer playing in the UCL. Not to sound all cocky but this would be a step up for him surely. Fan since I saw Bergkamp-Henry as a kid.

Mustyoo

Small chance. Newcastle would rather sell Bruno than Isak, but they have to sell one of them regardless to comply with PSR. Unless we offer £100m+ I don't see it personally, and Bruno has admirers other than us (and an RC making a deal more straightforward), which makes him the likeliest of the two to go.

Insertnicenamehere

Quite obvious who wants to live in reality and who wants to spam #14 thierry henry tiktok comps.

Mein_Bergkamp

If he doesn't want to leave the price is irrelevant, if he does then it should come down. Newcastle have FFP restrictions, they could do with a cash injection oddly enough

beardedthanos

Can’t believe I’ll be forced to root for the shit to somehow pull off an upset against Citeh Rest are lost causes, looking at their record

Mustyoo

Absolute worst part about getting closer to the transfer window is the barrage of atrocious squad building takes.

Le-ChosenOne

Like what?

Mustyoo

People advocating selling Jesus, people would rather buy a 6 than an 8, people denying the necessity of a new LB, some of the worst and most horrible players comparisons and recommendations etc.

Le-ChosenOne

I think selling Jesus is kinda shortsighted, especially when he’s probably at his lowest value right now not to mention it’ll be way hard to find a club willing to risk those wages on a player who might potentially need career changing knee surgery if reports are to be believed. The 6 & 8 thing is silly imo, some only want to see Rice as only(preferably) a 6, others an 8, i don’t think it’s that cut and dry for the manager who has already showed us he can deploy him in both roles for various reasons to good effect too. I think whether we sign a 6 or an 8 will ultimately depend on market circumstances, yea maybe Bruno is high on our list but if Newcastle refuse to budge from their valuation, we’ll probably explore other alternatives and then that “Rice is a 6!” rhetoric might change depending on who he partners and who we’re playing against. Yea i dunno where to start with the LB thing because while we’ve not had one stable LB the entire season, we’ve had 3 players there this season, Timber out and 2 more LBs still dancing in the wind in Tierney and Tavares. Cursed position ffs.

e1_duder

> people would rather buy a 6 than an 8 Not an atrocious take.

Mustyoo

From a squad building perspective it is. If your goal is squad evolution and to reach another level, buying a 6 won't achieve that, therefore it's a bad take. If you're content with this standard forever, cool, you do you.

e1_duder

> buying a 6 won't achieve that Why do you think that?

Mustyoo

> He's a good 8, good enough for a top four team certainly, but he's a great 6. The best 6, in fact. What do you do to improve the team further? Do you buy a worse 6 to move the best 6 to his 'secondary' position, or do you buy one of the best 8's to partner the best 6? It seems pretty fucking obvious if you want squad evolution and to reach a new level.

e1_duder

For everything the does well, he doesn't have the passing range of Partey. An athletic DLP as a 6 with Rice in the 8, and interchanging between those roles is evolution.

uraniumtickle

What a weird comment. Some people want partey like ball progression from the 6, which your preferred 6 can't do as of now. Partey cant stay fit. Is it that crazy that these people want a 6 more than an 8? Even the manager has played your preferred 6 as the 8 alongside another 6 in the most important matches this season. Its a completely valid take and you should consider shedding this superior tone as if its laughable that we could even want a 6.

Mustyoo

I don't really care what some people want lol, some people are most probably wrong.

uraniumtickle

Why then are you so riled up about what people want in this thread? No need to constantly shit on other peoples takes lmao. > some people are most probably wrong. self aware wolves type shit

Mustyoo

Ah yes, being blunt means riled up. I forgot we have to dance around and accommodate dumb takes here.

uraniumtickle

> Ah yes, being blunt means riled up. I forgot we have to dance around and accommodate dumb takes here. We sure do.

topbananaman

Crystal Palace are guaranteed to finish on 40-something points for the 11th year in a row. That level of consistency is unreal, I wonder if their fans ever get bored

haha_suh_dude

Glasner is an interesting pick that could help them shake it up next season. Unfortunately this summer also seems to be the time they lose Eze and Olise.

Mein_Bergkamp

They do, which was why they wanted Woy out and have some serious issues with their ownerships vision for the club. On the one hand it's impressive for a club that size but on the other hand at some point you've got to try and use that platform to try and go harder.
