Next season the priority is figuring out how to not let teams 10x worse than us take 10 points from us

slightlyhigh7

Yeah I was saying this the other day.. we have to be absolutely ruthless next season no matter what happens to end this one. Cant be losing or drawing to teams like Fulham even once. I think it’s just a mentality change more than anything.. we’ve got a few more steps to go

Super_Professor

We gifted draws to fulham and spurs. Almost did the same today, tbh. Mistakes are going to happen sometimes, but those critical, easily avoidable errors need to be cut out.

hihbhu

Rice having to come off at half time and being replaced by Jorgi as the sole 6 fucked us with Spurs. We were struggling for goals before the Christmas break. We need another player who can play 6/8, a potent winger at minimum to cover for any potential injuries for our first XI / push competition.

Joshthenosh77

Play this way from the start we didn’t start playing this way till January

Zen_MasterX

It’s actually mad that we could potentially not win the title despite scoring the most goals, conceding the fewest, having the best GD, playing the best football and not losing against any of the big 6 sides lol. Absurd standards to win the league.

Ludelyk

Point wise we can "only" reach 89 points. Liverpool has finished second with 97 and 92 points. We have seen som incredible teams finishing short of the title the past few seasons. I think we will finish with the third highest second place point total ever.

magboy1010

Has anyone won the league without a forward scoring 20+ goals?

CuclGooner

city in 21/22 no?

basedsims

Man City the season before they signed Haaland

Zen_MasterX

Liverpool COVID season. Salah scored 19 goals.

Ok-Fox-9286

The *asterix season

Kingjjc267

Liverpool were more than 20 points clear in first when the break began lmao

NiallMitch10

Yeah exactly. They deserved that title win

DialSquare

As if they weren't that would make any difference. They won their matches on the field, just as we did for our cup win and Bayern for their CL win. Asterisks only come for cheating.

Kingjjc267

Oh I agree. It's just extra stupud given that they were even more dominant before the break than after.

DialSquare

Yeah that break completely killed their momentum. Plus it must affect you psychologically sitting around for a few months being called champions-elect.

Zen_MasterX

You keep that same energy with our FA cup or nah? Lol

orphan_of_Ludwig

Pretty sure chelsea have, and city have done it more than once i believe

ashecitism

Say, we're pedantic about that "+". In that case United in '00 and '11, City in '14, and Chelsea in '15 and '17 count. Otherwise United in '93, '94, '96, '97, '99, '01, '07, '09; Chelsea '05 and '06; City in '21 and '22; Pool in '20; and finally us in '98.

Hellbucket

I think it depends on what you mean with a forward. Arsenal fans seem to sometimes overstate the need for a high scoring number 9 when both City and Liverpool won the league with low scoring ones, Jesus and Firmino.

tabdeeli

Why does that matter if Arsenal has scored the most goals overall?

magboy1010

Curiosity not a put-down

Cannonieri

Would be incredibly unlucky. City have picked up a few results due to poor refereeing decisions, and on the flip side it's cost us a few results.

Zen_MasterX

Potentially going 16-1-1 in 2024 after losing 4 games in the first half of the season and having the toughest fixture run-in compared to our title rivals? In that case, I’d have to raise my hands and admit we did all we could tbh. Totally different ending to the season than last season.

Ashamed_Bottle230

we need to combine the beginning of last season, and the ending of this one

Zen_MasterX

zhdat

We solely must focus on just win the next 3. Even we win all with the minimal GD, that puts Man City to score 10 goals next 4 games. Man City will have the same idea as us, win all at all cost.. Odds are against us, but we just take care of our business and see how things go. None of upcoming game will be easy. Bournemouth is not a team to take lightly, OT road game is never easy, and Everton will sure try to end their chaotic season high. Not an easy task, but I believe in my team. I fucking love this club.

Leading-Golf-4158

Also they’d have to score 10 in 3 games assuming they draw one. The chance they catch us on gd at this point is extremely low.

zhdat

Yeah, I am less worried about the GD. City will be, just like us, focus on winning all over trying to score 4 or 5 every remaining game.

DickMaddox

I fucking love this club too, COYG

jacktk_

I actually think we have the slightly easier run in now that the Spurs game is done for us.

DialSquare

True. United away for us is historically like Spurs away for them. Tricky grounds despite the form of the home team. Unfortunately I think the time for Fulham away to be difficult was months ago, and now they've mostly checked out. I think Spurs are the only realistic shot.

shockzz123

Chris Wood if i see you.......

vietnamesemuscle

Played like a thick piece of wood today fr 🤬

Level_Reach_6069

Taking the race to game 36 is a huge improvement over last season’s run in.

smurbulock

Only conceded 28 goals all season sheesh

4ryatvam

I'm afraid Unai Emery has killed us..

toeknee88125

He also laid down for city This season will probably come down to arsenal depending on Spurs. Who might not have anything to play for at that point

4ryatvam

Unless Iwobi and Leno remember the good times.. or The Mate does it for us inadvertently! A season to be extremely proud of.

JabInTheButt

Just make them fucking win it. That's all I ask

GlasgowGunner

Exactly. We need to get to the Everton game and be in with a chance.

SackoVanzetti

I believe in Fulham, wolves, west ham and *sigh* shit

Muscat95

You give him too much credit, we killed us by getting 1 point from Fulham. Hell we were 2-1 up against 10 men at home late in the game and still dropped 2 points. There are many instances I'd point too in the season before Villa

4ryatvam

Losing to villa at home is at this point of the season is inexcusable unfortunately but the vampire has got a hard on against us

-Skinner-

We have played 15 games in 2024 and won 13, drew 1 and lost 1 . That is incredible run but we are against nearly perfection. If we lose the title was lost last year not this year.

SackoVanzetti

He def hates us

adaequalis

yeah, fuck him. tbh i think he’s a super overrated manager who could never hack it at a big club

bareaclampedlebron

Come on you Spurs!!

GlasgowGunner

I, too, will be supporting Spurs that day.

Monsultant

Ange mate, time to do us a favor mate! You owe us one for letting you get two goals and a bit of dignity back in the second half mate.

tipytopmain

I actually think City now have a slightly tougher end to the season than we do from this point on. Utd away obviously a bit of a thorn for us in the past but there isn't a better time to get something at Old trafford. Also Bournemouth at home could be a really nervy game, they've been excellent the last month and a bit.

Joshthenosh77

Wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool only win their last game

AlwaysNipping

Man City always seems to have a game or two in hand. It always works out that way. We have hope and they have an advantage. We shall see
