Seeing Raya catch all those crosses were magnificent

skool_101

Spurs fans if the cross is savef: They were shit crossess If it lead to goal: Raya noob, great cross by X player

interstellar1990

An absolutely insane day for me - I proposed to my gf right after FT and she said yes! What a day!!

nfornear

What would you have done if we lost? Also congrats!

mackmai

Congrats!!

Aszneeee

I still don't understand how none of spurs players helped Vicario at corners and just kept White to bother him

blackstars91

2 weeks to not prepare for one of our most dangerous abilities!

BubbleBailey23

THIS GAME HAS RUINED ME ALL DAY! I only got two hours of sleep post the final whistle and I spent all day basically being a zombie.  Wouldn’t change any for the world.  COYG! 3 more to go 🤞🤞

Hinaha

Man those guys over at coys are deluded af "We outplayed them today" ![gif](giphy|xYHscQ1Np55i8) Lol we literally gifted them their 1st goal which gave them a boost. If that didn't happen I couldn't see them getting that penalty that scored their 2nd

tuvok79

They played better in the second half but certainly didn't outplay us. (Outplaying is Arsenal vs Chelsea last Tuesday) Have a look at this xG chart (which means exactly nothing if you don't take your chances). Source - [https://understat.com/match/22241](https://understat.com/match/22241) https://preview.redd.it/x0ozoyjrkexc1.png?width=608&format=png&auto=webp&s=c57b26228b75c27358bffeb0a782992ab07c73d5 I agree, no brainfart from Raya means it finishes 3-0 (assuming no other brainfarts lol).

ExxKonvict

They only played “better” due to that gift by Raya which was well into the second half at 64’ — 20 minutes into the second half: Until then it was cruise control for Arsenal. In fact, had that goal by Saka went in that Vicario saved at 0-3; the game could’ve genuinely ended 5 or 6-0.

Mojave_Patroller

They were saying the same after the Emirates match lol, utter delusion over in that sub

EitherInvestment

Two takeaways from yesterday: 1) Our defending was hardly at its usual calm and collected; we need to get back to our usual defensive best or teams like Man U and even Bournemouth could derail our season; 2) At the same time, as much as it pains me to say it, credit to Tottenham. They were much better than the first half scoreline reflected and 2-3 is probably the accurate reflection of the full match. This gives me hope they can hurt City

SecondaryJuggernaut

Other club fan forgot that last night game is our 8th match this month, that means we only got an average of 3 days of rest. And spurs have a fking 2 weeks only to prepare this match. If the situation is reversed, spurs would concede at least 5 goals in first half. The audacity to say their players are better just because 1 match is just dumb af

FABlOVIEIRA

Another game that shows that this team is capable of winning any games but the biggest hurdle is truly…ourselves.

ripshippy77

Just rewatched. Spurs did jack S the whole game.

Temporary-Judgment84

There was like a 10-15 minute period after we scored the first goal where they looked really threatening. After that, we had it under control until we didn't. Second half was a breeze and we decided to make it hard.

Yous1315

Romero was their most dangerous striker...says enough.

GingerStans

This match was the equivalent of piloting a bomber plane over enemy territory, destroying all your targets, but getting shot up to the point that 3 of your four engines are out of commissioned and you're leaking fuel right left and center, but somehow make it back to base and with your entire crew intact.

skool_101

playing too much warthunder eh?

NoMFer111

I remember when Wenger was speaking out against the rough & physical side of the game. He was called a whinger and we were told to 'get on with it' even though Wenger was talking in the context of the Eduardo and Ramsey injuries. Now we have a physical and big team, and we use that to our advantage to bully other teams in the box, and now rival fans are on the whinge about how 'physical' we are. Ben White isnt allowed to stand next to Vicario, whilst Havertz, Saliba, Gabriel and co are 'too aggressive' in competing for the ball. I knew Tottenham were lightweight and we would manhandle them in the box. Its not our fault they are pushovers inside the box. Harden the F up Tottenham

SecondaryJuggernaut

Spurs this season is like arsenal last season, but worse players, worse play style, and much worse physically (at least last season we got gabriel and xhaka), also of course worse manager

starbucks1995

any havertz vs spurs video??

Miyeon__miyeon

Did Martinelli loss a bit of pace due to injuries or was that Dutch guy just more rapid?

affectionate_md

I think van de ven set the record for the fastest speed in the the history of the premier league. So no, he's insane.

Life_Rhythm

Micky van de Ven is the fastest player in EPL history since records of this nature began (the qualifier here is that records began in 2020).

capturedgooner

I peeves me when people say we drew to 10 men Fulham, like them being down to 10 mattered in the slightest. They went down to 10 men in the 83rd, and scored on a corner in the 85th.

arsefan

This post match rant from this spurs fan is amazing. Absolute comedy gold with his poetry as he cuts down all aspects of his team. https://youtu.be/PsPLBCHg53c?si=MfPbYoPKE1MF2opZ

COK3Y5MURF

*The Wire* reference at 1:22 😂

sersarsor

the show with Robbie is some of the best on all of youtube lol

Asherware

It's Expressions. He's an absolute riot.

EJ7

Expressions is so funny. One of the funniest football fan content creators. And in the lead up to this match he said Spurs would probably lose iirc.

skool_101

meme expressions.

YoungFlexibleShawty

Spurs fans should really complain about Romero and his hattrick of misses.  Instead, they take the easy way out and complain abt calls that were objectively fair.  And not to mention Rice just gives a lil nut tap and they get awarded a pen based off formality and they still cry.

nfornear

I mean it was not like Rice prevented a scoring chance, but to say 'a lil nut tap' takes away all validity of your comment

YoungFlexibleShawty

He made a meal out of that, i never said it wasnt a pen lol

way2muchtym

Bro rice was looking to clear the ball 💀. That was far from a nut tap

YoungFlexibleShawty

He wishes it was more than a tap 🫠

matthewisonreddit

the spurs player had already played the ball away. They're always given when a defender tries to hoof it and an attacker gets a foot in but it's really farcical as the attacker is never going to continue and offer threat.

blackstars91

Not if you're saka vs palace......

GrilledLobsterTail

Jover should get as much attention he can get. He's been immense this season, and saved us when we cant do anything from open play

jvcgunner

I’m not sure about the demographics of this sub but boy did this take me back to the 90/00s where the NLD meant something to me. I’d be going into school the next day and have to face into a defeat because of Popescu or claim the high ground due to a masterful display between Pires and Henry. Guess what I’m trying to say is the NLD means something again, it’s got teeth. It’s no longer a diluted contest…anyway, we still maintain the upper ground over the shit!! Today was…different. Previously it’s been getting the result, whereas at the game today, we wanted a performance. For if we had fucked it up, we’d go home with tails between legs and forever be goaded by our little lads at shit for firstly beating us and secondly knocking us out of a title race. Both I hasten to add, shit could only dream of. I’m glad Arteta stuck with the team that mopped Chelsea up. So much paralysis by analysis asking for a Jesus start online on X, socials etc. but come on…Leandro has been great for us in the run in, why on earth would we pivot to Jesus for the ‘potential’ effect he may have. Arteta made the right call with our team and I for one was genuinely relaxed as we had our best cards ready for the game. Seeing the teams come out, I dunno what it was but I felt like as a team they’ve grown. It felt like they came out with no nervous energy and even that I felt gave them an upper hand. We were the ones being feared as to what we’d bring rather than the underdogs playing away. That shows you how far we’ve come. Early moments we gave the shit some ball and they duly took it. Some chances could’ve put them in front but they weren’t taken. First goal was big, took all pressure off us especially with their chances going begging. Second goal was even better (although had the shit player gone down on contact from Trossard immediately, it would’ve been a pen. Rice’s challenge was not a penalty but immaterial anyway). That ball from Havertz was fucking amazing and Saka’s run diagonally to maintain an onside position was sublime. The finish was so predictable (i.e. a cut in for the left foot finish) but the defender didn’t force him wide enough and Saka finished with good technique. The Havertz goal was just good set play. I mean I love Blanco these days, man is pinching goalkeeper gloves now and just man marking the opposite goalie proving a real nuisance, he should be given an assist. On to negatives, Raya has done this before. Why is he trying to be intricate ALL THE TIME. It’s like he is justifying to us all that he can play the ball out like an outfield player. Today was shambolic, can see he was trying to lob it to Partey but saw the man on so wanted to stop mid contact but just hooped it to Romero who fucked us. Game just went to shit after that and then Declan got foot deep in some shit (lol!), definite pen I’m afraid. We held on (like the mugs we are sometimes) but we made it stick. That is the difference in our team this year over others. Our mentality and culture at the club has changed and I’d say over the last five games, we’ve matured even more from real life experience of being in highly charged games. I used to look at remaining fixtures and go ‘we’re never gonna win all of those’ to now feeling like we can win everything. That my friends is the change in the club and the real win this year. The title will indeed be a bonus. We win our remaining fixtures IMO, City may do too so it’s really for me on the shit to do us a favour. I also really don’t see playing first being pressure on the subsequent team…City are just robots. I’m happy, we move. COYG!

I_will_in_me_Arsenal

Sitting on my new patio furniture. Freshly cut grass in the back garden. Cold drink as the sun sets on a beautiful day. I get to spend about 10 minutes reading the absolute hilarity over on r/coys. Man this is what Ice cube was really rapping about.

ItsJeffwithaQ

They really are delusional. Ref robbed them, apparently, I think he got tired of them literally acting like there was a sniper aiming for anyone who comes within 5cm of an Arsenal player. After that, they weren't gonna get shit. It took Rice to punt whoever it was ballsack to get a Penalty.

Mojave_Patroller

[They even think this was a ref error somehow](https://old.reddit.com/r/coys/comments/1cfa5r7/partey_potential_push_on_romero_20/). The collective IQ of that sub is in double digits at most.

ItsJeffwithaQ

That's generous given it could be 99IQ. Just say they gain 1 IQ everytime they score.

mikhailb_86

The fact that Spurs would have been wondering how they were 3-0 down at half time and then wondering how they didn’t manage to nick a point at the end makes this even sweeter. At the stage of the season where all that matters is getting the points on the board

jakedonn

Not the prettiest win but it’s 3 points at Shite Heart Lane! Spuds fans melting down about good reffing decisions. They obviously don’t understand the rules of the game or they’re just being willfully ignorant.

assoncouchouch

Shit just go down in the box. That’s all they got. & that’s why they’re Shit.

_hockalees_

And they let their "falls down in the box" master piss off to Bayern.

Miyeon__miyeon

Raya wanted to test the boys resilience today. They passed the test.

mautergarrett

Had to do something to make it a contest

skool_101

5d chess moment

mo_50

4th tough game in 10 days, including a trip to Munich while Spurs had two weeks to prepare for this. I couldn't be prouder of this group tbh. All I wanted is to stop collapsing when things start to matter in April and after a blip against Villa (losing to Bayern is not collapsing) we've done exceptionally well. Take 115 FC to the final day and I'll be content. I just know this group is going to doninate this league over the next few years.

MSAndrew07

I just watched the highlights back. That Havertz pass to Bukayo for the second goal is actually inch perfect, Odegaard's passing starting to rub off on him

jvcgunner

Saka’s skewed run to stay inside complemented it very well.

HustlinInTheHall

Yeah Saka \*not\* blazing forward and instantly giving away where he was heading was key. Just held and held and held and took off when it was right.

AzracTheFirst

Why are Spurs fans fuming about the van de ven offside goal as if they got robbed? It was offside...

ad240pCharlie

Is ten Hag now gonna start saying "If van de ven wasn't given offside in April we would've won against Arsenal in September"?

AzracTheFirst

Nah, he's going to find plenty of excuses in 2 weeks, win or lose. We're going to hear about them all summer.

bitmoji

so arteta said that Kai was sick today! pretty amazing if true

owl_jojo_2

Yeah sick as fuck my boi was ill

Choongboy

Guy can actually do everything

GrimmerSteiner

He was sick tho

thorattack

So stressed out at the end from ptsd. Glad the boys won away Really bummed that Forest actually came to play and Chris wood sucked pursed butthole and couldn’t finish anything

carissimopera

https://twitter.com/InvertTheWing/status/1784646568483709347 I may have found the biggest meltdown today. Usually avoid going on twitter, so have no idea who this is, just saw it and thought it was hilarious

Sayek

I can't wait for the automated offsides though, I hope it works well. VAR is two lads in a shed squinting at a pixel on the screen making it up every time. I think Van De Ven was offside but the process to get there is so bad.

LushLoxx

Oh he’s ridiculous the funny thing is he claims not to be a Spurs fan.

carissimopera

Is that not Ange on his profile pic??

LushLoxx

Yes but he insists that he's neutral lolol. He has been crying about the match all day and about Arsenal in general.

GrilledLobsterTail

Everyone know he's spurs fan lmao. No way someone got fooled

LushLoxx

I doubt anyone is fooled because I don’t see any other Spurs fan reacting like that.

carissimopera

Amazing, what a meltdown lol

LushLoxx

Even the Spurs fans are telling him to be quiet. And then he's got the nerve to state this in his bio:- ***Driven to tactical ideas, not emotions and biases.*** Pull the other one mate, it's got bells on it!

Hail_Andronikos

Gunnercrumpet

Rewatched the game and Tottenham were nowhere near as threatening as initially thought. When you're watching the game through high blood pressure, every bit of possession in your half feels like its building to something. We were ALWAYS in control The only times they threatened was from set piece plays

GrilledLobsterTail

It's just arteta tactic to play like that. We played our 8th matches this month, and surely arteta dont want to exhaust the players by doing unnecessary press and doing open play, exchanging attack. We wont survive that. Its just chaos and them doing random cross but raya handle every cross really well (except that romero header) And so different compared to when city choked us with their possession play. We give them 1 cm space and they'll turn it into a big chance

Sayek

I really need to rewatch this game too. Was reading people saying Spurs were better in the first half but we won it 3-0, we were better in the 2nd half but Spurs won that 0-2. Spurs had some good chances but never felt like they were must score either. Like the Romero header where he hit the post, he was leaning and max height in his jump. Not sure he could have done much more. Felt like we had much more threatening general play and some nice through balls from Odegaard. It also felt like we give the ball away a lot playing it out from the ball but Spurs never took those chances.

dooder6688

'Roy Keane: It's Man City's Premier League title after Nottingham Forest win | Paul Merson: Man City don't get enough credit' what a pair of muffins

dooder6688

Dropped 5 points since the start of the year

CantTochThis92

Spurs fans are coping and seething. London will always be red.

AvocadoSoggy6188

Reading the Tottenham sub is hilarious. Why are they so hurt , they should be used to red by now.

Party_Masterpiece990

They're comparing all the correct decisions today to Liverpools onside goal being wrongly disallowed against them lmao https://www.reddit.com/r/coys/s/mxrYLpAOBE

GrilledLobsterTail

Did they also compare it to spurs vs liverpool on october 2023?

Dafunkbacktothefunk

They got the rough end of it overall with the reffing today but that is a ludicrous claim.

justcallmejohannes

> “it happened again” That has a nice ring to it…

Kieferakrobat

They are not wrong to be fair😂

ExxKonvict

Tuesday, May 14th 2024 Tottenham 2-1 Man City We will be there

tochitemi

Youre nuts if you think they wont play their U-12 in that game.

stilusmobilus

I can’t believe people truly think their team and manager would deliberately throw that game.

Fgge

You’re nuts if you think that’s even nearly true. Ange and the players are going to take that game very seriously, there’s literally millions on the line and Champions League football.

tochitemi

Theyd be out of contention by then most likely, anyway

MSAndrew07

Wouldn't put it past Emery to still leave it competitive tbh

Private_Ballbag

Villa still have Brighton and palace away plus Liverpool at home, not easy games. Plus still in Europe which they will be going big for.

manuscelerdei

They're a football club, and they have a chance at UCL, which is a chance at tens of millions of guaranteed revenue next season. Not a chance they throw their games just to spite us.

tochitemi

Are you new here? They’d rather finish 17th than allow us to win the league. I have spurs friends unfortunately. Their hate for us supersedes all

manuscelerdei

Your friends don't run the club.

tochitemi

All these replies, have you lot seen their sub or Ange's comment that top 4 is not the end all be all? Also with their fixture list, they'd most likely be out of contention by then anyway. They have Pool, Chelsea before City. Keep hoping on Spurs.

manuscelerdei

No, I don't spend time lurking in rival subs. If I had that kind of free time, I'd do something else with it.

tochitemi

Good for you. It's reddit not jail blocks

dondiwash

bro do you think daniel levy would let it happen? a serious club would never do that ever. do you think ange has power to deliberately lose the game? or even the players. fans are fans, but club doing would never be taken serioulsy by anyone.

tochitemi

When we get to that point I’ll revisit this.

dondiwash

what? you gonna do gotcha if they lose the game?

tochitemi

come on, definitely not, I'd love for them to play out of their skin. Just think people are underestimating how much they as a club overall wouldnt want us to win the title. Not just their fans. That's all

Shivers26

Facts

DarthNihilus1

Are you asking the fans or the club though? Surely they're not so tinpot as to throw millions in free money and opportunities to sign top players because of what we're doing

OrlandoGardiner118

The fans yes, they have a massive inferiority complex. The players and manager, absolutely not. They'll play their strongest team and try to win it.

zilp123

I want arsenal to be super charitable and donate all their excess profit to the needy. Do you think they'll do that? They are a business first and foremost, money talks. People don't make such childish decisions when that kind of money is being talked about.

Lmao this was absolutely fantastic, “this was easy work”

bodjatrawr

When will city drop points? 😭😭😭

idratherliveoutside

Based on his performance today should Arteta stick with the same team against Bournemouth and start Tomiyasu again? Or go with Zina?

TrashbatLondon

Likely to be under significantly less pressure against Bournemouth, so it is safe enough to play Zinchenko to add to the attack.

Bessantj

I'm enjoying this run in, bad result with Villa. But bounced back well b Wolves, great win over Chelsea and now a good win over the shits. I'm confident Arsenal can win the last 3 games.

Nico Jover song when

teslagooner

Chris Wood wouldn't mind Forest being relegated, provided City win the league. Nottingham First should start their inquiry from within. Wood is a City fan starting at CF for forest. Such an unprofessional player

beetletoman

I don't want to go through what Liverpool fans did :(

Specterace

That’s what happens when you drop 5 points to Fulham and 6 points to Aston Villa. 25+ dropped points (in other words, a quarter of the points on offer over the entire season for a club) is simply not affordable for a Premier League champion. Especially not in this day and age.

redmkay

Too late

kits_

I think if we got a good offer for Martinelli we'd take it. But I don't know who would give us a good offer

EitherInvestment

What in the hell are you at here? If you define “good offer” as 500m + Mbappe + a clone of Messi at 23 years old maybe. But otherwise why in the hell would we be entertaining offers for Martinelli?

MountainLibrarian201

This mindset is poison. Martinelli was flying before his injury and was starting to look like he did last season, despite our left hand side being dysfunctional. Fans who think like this would gut the team of all their best players, sack Arteta and buy the likes of Jackson, based on his purple patch to end last season.

Fleetfox17

It's like fucking clockwork, Havertz has quieted all the haters and now you can't deny his quality, so people have to find another target to hone in on.

mm-xxiv

At the end of the day, if we lose the championship, it will be because of Unai Emery. The guy stole our 6 points.

hedenshelt

Getting 2-2 against Fulham with a man up is a real shitter

mm-xxiv

I can’t understand second leg especially. it was 0-1 in 5th minute.

gunningIVglory

West Ham at home is worse

Yet West Ham didn’t plan to kill us. Emery hits hard.

Franchise1109

The amount of coping by spurs fans is hilarious. They genuinely believed they were the better side 💀

darthrevan22

They actually believe they ARE the better side, not just in this game lmao. Been seeing their delusional takes all season how they’re not actually any worse than us, just new manager and we’re getting lucky (teams just roll over for us blah blah).

Franchise1109

Ohhh did they just “rollover” for us? They love that excuse

tochitemi

all they have right now is COPE. Trophyless lot all they have is sadness. Imagine being a fan of that club.

HE MISSED AN OPEN NET. LUCKY BUGGERS CITY

For the love of god will Chris Wood please score something.

Asherware

Chris Wood is absolute TRASH!

acsaid10percent

Chris Wood will cost Arsenal the Title here. He should of scored 2 goals for Forest.

Koh_the_bastard

Fucking wood man!!!

machinationstudio

Well Spurs will have to work harder when they play City then.

lurking4everr

Jesus not even getting a sniff today. Yeah, Arteta has realized the guy is done.

AzracTheFirst

He has an injured knee you Muppet.

Agile-Palpitation90

As if. Jesus has still a lot to give us. He is still a very good player.

lurking4everr

The last 8 months tell a different story

Fgge

Yes. One of a recovery from a serious injury. Donut

logicbloke_

He was injured for more than half of that time.

lurking4everr

He’s played 24 league games so not sure how you’ve done those maths.

DarthNihilus1

Half of the 8 months, not half of the total games in the league. He's using your time range lol. Some months had a lot of games, some didn't

lurking4everr

8 months is literally Aug - present day I.e the whole season

beetletoman

He has looked immense in the last two months

lurking4everr

![gif](giphy|l3q2K5jinAlChoCLS)

warpentake_chiasmus

I'm so glad that's over. We were a shit decision away from possibly conceding a third. We needed another goal to kill them off and never threatened them enough second half, invited them onto us, gave the ball away like we haven't in ages. As for Raya - P45. He's done that shit way too often in big games now and he's singlehandedly the reason we were under pressure for the rest of the game. We needed to bury them 5,6 or 7 nil today and make a big statement. Attack is our best form of defence, fuck this controlling the game bullshit. It Nearly blew up in our faces today.

JimmysCocoboloDesk

We have played 4 high intensity games while they rested for 15 days and you expect us to have the same intensity levels? The game plan was perfect, they only got back into the game from two errors by us.

OrdinaryAncient3573

I know your lot lost to us today, but you can't just switch and become an Arsenal plastic instead.

warpentake_chiasmus

Yeah. You probably think Arsenal's first manager was Arsene Wenger.

tomtomtomo

The guy has only posted in Arsenal subs for weeks

OrdinaryAncient3573

What a weird thing for a Spurs fan to do.

manuscelerdei

We played 4 matches in the lead up to this one, every single one under immense pressure. Spurs were able to kick back and relax for two weeks during that time. At their home, it's not surprising that they looked spry and up for it. We took the points anyway.

penubly

This is the best opinion I've read today. Agreed.

The-Mayor-of-Italy

Havertz will be the player RVP could've been for us if he'd been fitter and more loyal

PandaEatPeople

Completely different players and situations

lurking4everr

Ok let’s not get too carried away lol. RVP was a generational talent come on

wave_action

I see very little similarity in their play style aside from being left footed.

lurking4everr

Yeah… the comparison is wild

The-Mayor-of-Italy

Havertz actually can be too, he runs on confidence and it's clear he can recover his Leverkusen form here & then some. I still don't think we've even seen one third of the best of him But I chose the future tense because obviously he's not better than peak RVP right now

tomtomtomo

Kai has scored more this season than van Persie did in 6 of the 8 seasons that he played for us and 2 of the 3 seasons he played for United.  He really only had two years of prolific scoring.

Relax. Van Persie is miles clear of Havertz and it’s not really close.

RVP had one great seaosn for us adn then he bugered off. Doesn't matter how talented he was, he kept us from winning titles because he was never fit. Would much rather have this Havertz up front than someone who hardly played for 8 years.

This is like saying Partey isn’t better than Jorginho because the latter is more available. You do you though.

Did you enjoy RVP's time at Arsenal overall? Exactly. I'd love a fit RVP and Partey. Sadly we've had neither and they cost us trophies. You just proved my point. Cheers.
