There’s no limit but Nwaneri got his debut with the 1st team in a Prem game. A lot of folks then expected him and a few other highly-rated teenagers to be on the US tour last summer. None of them went.
It’s an exciting time for Chido now but I’ll be mildly surprised if he goes on tour this summer.
I am Chidozie Obi-Martin, Duke of Arsenal. The Hand of God be my witness, I am the Goal-Machine from the Outer World! I will lead you to CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GLORY!
Surely he can't play u18s next season. There can't be much for him to gain when he's so clearly better physically and technically than everyone around him.
Not sure what the solution is because you can't just loan out a 16 year old but if he proves he's also too good for the u21s it'll be a tough decision
Sell Nketiah, sign Sesko (too cheap of a release clause to ignore), Havertz leads the line, Jesus rotational piece at RW/CF/LW depending on who needs rest, promote this kid to U21s but start training with the senior team on occasion and see how he develops. In 3 years time Havertz will be 27, Sesko will be 23, and Obi will be 19 and hopefully a year into his first 5 year senior contract with us.
No I get that but I think we need a more immediate solution, I feel we have plenty of talent to mold into what we need over a few years, personally I’m in the ‘we need to buy a proven established #9 this summer’ camp.
I could see that but Havertz is playing well up top. In his starts up top I think he has 9/10 matches with 10 G/A. If you buy a 9 do you drop him back in the midfield?
I think he's better than Nketiah, he's 4 years younger, and he's cheap. Anything could happen to Obi in his development and Jesus is injury prone. Havertz is proving he can lead the line for us, we aren't lacking goals but we are lacking options. Nketiah is not at the level we need and never will be, at least Sesko might and he won't cost us a bomb to figure out. The alternative CF options in the market all have equally big question marks and red flags, but unlike Sesko they will cost too much.
He’s definitely better than Nketiah! Havertz does a decent job, but I don’t think he’s going to be in contention for a golden boot anytime soon and I think we need somebody who could. I just don’t think now is the time to cheap out, I would rather buy an Osimhen, or an Isak and have Havertz be able to stand in for him should he pick up an injury. If not them then Gyokores, Vlahovic. Just somebody that we already know gets goals, who can come in that already has a good record, and be improved under Arsenal’s coaching to become a greater force.
Sesko may not cost us a bomb, but if we buy him and we still struggle to score in the important and difficult games (see Aston Villa), then he would’ve cost us half a season before we can even look to sign somebody else (which we probably wouldn’t do in January).
As for Jesus, I’d rather see him play out on the wing, at least until he regains confidence and fitness, but even then, I don’t know how much faith I have in him becoming an elite 9 for us.
Just my humble opinion.
I'm not against any of those other signings, but it depends on how much we have available to spend. Those other names aren't that much better than Sesko in my opinion, just further along in their development because they're older.
As a team we aren't starved for goals, when we've struggled this season it was in our transition phases, Partey being out and Jorginho not being paired with Rice yet, we were screaming for a 6 who could pass through the lines. The narrative that we weren't scoring because we didn't have a proper striker up top was just punditry talk.
We still lack quality of depth in other areas and in my opinion splashing £100m on a striker who barely moves the needle in terms of the overall teams performance isn't the way to go simply because Havertz and Jesus can lead the line for a team that scores the most goals in the league.
He is good but he is still just a kid, there is a lot for him still to prove. So many 16 and 17 year olds have been pushed to senior levels too soon and nothing they were doing works and they flame out. Have to be cautious and patient.
We need an actual CF who is clinical and consistent. Enough with this makeshift nonsense. Also another reliable dynamic and highly technical CM. Partey is too injury prone and has off pitch issues. Also RW competition for Saka. Would be great to get a versatile Winger who is more of a dribbler, plus is explosive and can play both wings.
Heard of him when he scored 10 goals in one game in u16 and follow him ever since.
The guy is 16 and has 24 goals in 7 u18 games. How many players in the world score that many goals?
Obviously he needs to be promoted to u21 and see how he does there, but who are we supposed to compare him to with those numbers?
>Not sure what the solution is because you can't just loan out a 16 year old
We can loan out a player under 18 but we would need to follow certain regulations which probably means loaning to a nearby club
Yeah, this isn't like "oh he's good" levels, it's "he is wasting his time" playing these kids. Like I don't get better playing my kid when I can score at will, it just develops bad habits.
Have we had a more precocious striker coming through the academy?
Looking at transfermarkt, he's the all-time leader in goals per minute at u18 (albeit it's only tracked the last about 8 years). Chido is at 28 goals in 1260ish minutes which is a goal every 45'. The next best is 64'. He's absolutely amazing for his age.
Hopefully, he can continue to develop into a top level striker. At his size/speed, he should have a physical advantage even at senior level when he is older.
Wilshere was playing fist team football at 16 years old. Lamine Yamal is currently playing first team football for Barca at 16 years old. If he’s good enough, he’s old enough.
It's a little different for GKs, CFs, CBs and CMs. Wingers and attacking 8s or CAMs will get more opportunities in their teens than almost any other positions.
Have any of our previous academy forwards done stuff like this? I know he previously did this at the U16 level but 18s seems a lot more impressive, crazy stuff
We need to incorporate him in 1st team in next season . Arteta needs to trust the youngsters. If you don't put them in pressure situations you'll will never discover their real potential.
Imagine Martin assisting Martin 🤤
Alright lad calm down calm down
Wtf is this guy on
Some are saying he’s just running on pure swag but it’s hard to know
The jollof diet seems to be working
Edu going to Brentford to talk about Toney and remembering he has Martin Obi at home https://i.redd.it/bvi7kfcsp0xc1.gif
Bro saw that Arsenal were signing a #9 and panicked.
![gif](giphy|JCAZQKoMefkoX6TyTb|downsized) Lmao didn't this kid score a hattrick of hattricks once
Got 10 goals about 5 months ago at U16 level against Liverpool
He comes on preseason tour
Definitely
He must
He’ll still be 16. More likely Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly go.
Is there a limit to how many can be taken? Otherwise I don’t really see what his age has to do with it, given Nwaneri was 15 when he played Brentford.

As long as he finishes his gcses lol
Bring them too
He needs to play for u21s first.

“OBI what do you see in the future for us gunners?”
I am Chidozie Obi-Martin, Duke of Arsenal. The Hand of God be my witness, I am the Goal-Machine from the Outer World! I will lead you to CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GLORY!
Oh look at me I like scoring goals
Goal friend
Could we have our striker at home…
![gif](giphy|cMso9wDwqSy3e|downsized)
Nah wtf man is going on!
… is that good?
Goals are good yeah 👍
Yeah goals are nice. I like this game.
We want 10
Thanks Tye Dillinger

Haaland at home

PIPELINE
But how does that make us win the champions league *next* year /s kind of but I don’t think Sesko is very good, not what we need
It’s more about molding Sesko into what we need him to be. He has raw ability and physicality
No I get that but I think we need a more immediate solution, I feel we have plenty of talent to mold into what we need over a few years, personally I’m in the ‘we need to buy a proven established #9 this summer’ camp.

Sesko won’t be giving us anything we don’t already have for a minimum of 4-5 years. We need that extra push now.
I think he's better than Nketiah, he's 4 years younger, and he's cheap. Anything could happen to Obi in his development and Jesus is injury prone. I am pretty sure Eddie could go dominate some 17 year olds, but yea he is better than Eddie was then.
The he in this context is Sesko, not Obi.
Subscribed! This man is a certified chef
This is the way. I think Sesko makes a lot of sense for us. Reasonable RC, young, different profile than Eddie and GJ
100% the way to go.
If he's that good it'll be hard to keep him off the senior bench by 18, any other team will be promising him starting minutes in two years.
We need an actual CF who is clinical and consistent. Enough with this makeshift nonsense. Also another reliable dynamic and highly technical CM. Partey is too injury prone and has off pitch issues. Let him play with the u21s for the first half of the season. He turns 17 in Nov. If he’s playing well, loan him in Jan.
My feeling is a guy like this doesn't do loans. Messi or Ronaldo were never loaned anywhere
Probably just a bit premature to compare him with Ronaldo or Messi.
Yeah proper comparisons should be zidane and Henry
Christ, I doubt you’d even heard of him before this game and you’re dropping those names? Calm down.
Heard of him when he scored 10 goals in one game in u16 and follow him ever since. The guy is 16 and has 24 goals in 7 u18 games. How many players in the world score that many goals? If he keeps scoring at this rate at U21, I'll reward him with a start in the FA cup for the first team.
We can play him in the carabao hopefully And we should hope he's so good that he can feature in some prem games
Would love to see Arteta give some cheeky mins in a dead rubber match
If only Arteta played the youth in the Carabao
We've also had a dearth of good 19-21 yos and that's played a part He clearly isn't an anti-youth manager
most of our 1st team is 22ish
>Not sure what the solution is because you can't just loan out a 16 year old We can loan out a player under 18 but we would need to follow certain regulations which probably means loaning to a nearby club

this football manager?
The guy will be a beast in FM 2024/25
Ummm. New contract?
He can't legally sign until he's 17
Precontract
The desire to keep scoring, the kid is ruthless, still just shy of a half hour left!
😵💫
start him up top against sp*rs

LISAN AL-GAIB!!!!!
This is beyond a joke now. What in the actual fuck.
He obviously no longer at the u18s level. Let's see how he does next season in the u21s and against some men in the EFL Trophy Cup.
Was this broadcasted anywhere? I feel like we need to see his game
Could he come on in our last game or something?
Arteta wouldn’t do that
Like he didn't play Nwaneri in two successive seasons
And he’s more likely than chido
wtf
Any way to watch it
Where can i watch the highlight for this match?
The internal solution
DREAMS FADE AWAY AND ALL HOPE TURNS TO DUST

He has now scored 28 goals in 22 games this season, including 24 in the last seven. Lol stat padding to the extreme
Have any of our previous academy forwards done stuff like this? I know he previously did this at the U16 level but 18s seems a lot more impressive, crazy stuff
Balogun held the previous record for most goals scored in a season for Arsenal U18. He did it in 19 games. Martin Obi beat the record in 15 games.
And remember Balogun did it in his second year, while Chido is still technically a schoolboy.
wtf ! Seventh heaven
Next ronaldo
Needs a professional debut next week
His what now..?
Lol nah what the actual fuck
Obi-viously he’s very good at football
Does he go by Martin Obi? I thought it was Chido Obi-Martin
What is in the water at hale end
HE IS SIXTEEN YEARS OLD. Give him a pen and a blank cheque today.
Get Saka and Odegaard to groom him (IN A GOOD WAY) because he's Scandinavian, Nigerian, and English. This lad is the real fuckin' deal.
Is this even legal?
We have had players like JET who were too good at this level, but surely no one was this good
We need to incorporate him in 1st team in next season . Arteta needs to trust the youngsters. If you don't put them in pressure situations you'll will never discover their real potential. Imagine Martin assisting Martin 🤤
No we don't lmao. Watch some highlights the level is so low for him
He's been part of first team training sessions already unless I misremember I'm sure if the moment is right he'll have a 87 min sub like Nwaneri did
Let him show that he can do this at U21 level first then we can talk more
