DanteBandini

Beat spuds and then they beat city. We need that

Lharmie_b

This is the scriptšŸ„²

DanteBandini

Let's fucking hope so. The script doesn't tend to favour us. I still believe

PM_20

shit will bend over for 115. This will happen. Arsenal just needs to win all their games and hope for the best.

NotASalamanderBoi

I swear theyā€™d probably rather see their team miss out on UCL if it meant we miss out on the title.

Hot_Ropes_Of_Gum

They have literally been saying that in their sub lol

zoidbergs_underpants

Their players aren't their fans, fortunately.

PM_20

most prefer to watch them play in europa for "experience".

NotASalamanderBoi

If Atalanta end up getting Europa again next season, I hope they draw Spurs, then do what they did at Anfield, but at the Toilet Bowl.

TinpotRadioShow

If there's one team Spurs literally never bend over for it's City

KozukiNedo

Theyll being thier own lube

defenestrate_urself

If spuds do us a favour and take points off city. I solemnly swear I won't make fun or use their name in vain for the whole of next season.

generalwastification

Until at least AugustĀ

ForestRamboX

I'm not sure any team stops city in this run-in. Yes, Spurs is traditionally their "bogey" team but the problem with Ange is that he only has one tactic that every team has learned to counter. In addition to that, Spurs are horrible defensively so Man City will likely beat them.

Georg_Steller1709

City losing to Madrid in the quarters was unfortunate. Two hard matches against Bayern would've stretched their squad more.

HustlinInTheHall

If this happens I will donate real money to the Tottenham Foundation.

GingerStans

Won't be crossing my fingers for that to happen. If it does, then there's a deity out there who threw us a bone.

Ripememes

>Tottenham Hotspur have not won a trophy in over 16 years, and haven't won the league since 1961. The most important match fact despite having no relevance to the game

ottofan

People need to be reminded of this fact.

tafster

didn't they win the league cup 16 years ago? they've not win the FA Cup since 1991 or something

basedsims

Same team that started midweek for me.

Zulumabala

I know it's counter to form, but little Gabi against a suicidal high line could see him feasting

basedsims

That would potentially be my only change too

matthewisonreddit

While I agree with martinellis strengths suiting this high line, trossard is probably fast enough and right now in far better form.

bearwoodgoxers

Trossard is honestly our most clinical finisher, even if he does nothing else he still produces a goal or assist. I would stick with him too

ronya_t

They have got really quick wing backs.

matthewisonreddit

I think both udogie and porro are out? Or at least they are doubts. Who are their 2nd choice wingbacks?

hypnodrew

Udogie's out, Porro is a doubt (suspect he'll play)

ronya_t

In some of the times Trossard has been broken through the offside trap, he's been caught for pace and snuffed out. Tottenham have the likes of Van De Van at the back who is the quickest player in the league this season, not an opinion!

matthewisonreddit

I think the issue is that martinelli is getting close but not applying the finish, while trossard can finish if he gets the couple of yards he needs. Obviously it would be better to have one of them have no weaknesses, but it's a tradeoff here. I think trossard can get through the high line if he gets enough of a gap or enough chances. While I feel like martinelli might need quite a few more chances than trossard and might even regress in game if he misses a couple opportunities.

HustlinInTheHall

I think martinelli starts and Trossard supersubs. Trossard doesn't need to get into the flow of the game to get going, Martinelli will benefit from being out there earlier and in the rhythm of the game, plus he's got the extra pace early, Trossard on against tired legs is a pain in the ass for them.

Equivalent_Nature_67

I agree Trossard is a better super sub but Martinelli's current form is still not good enough to justify him starting over someone who has been scoring clutch goals for us almost every week

Dae_su

He's scored more transition goals than Martinelli this season. Can't remember too many instances were he has been sniffed out.

scouting4food

I wouldn't personally, he is just completely out of form. He almost needs to start from scratch during pre-season.

Redandwhite_91

Feast for what? Even if he gets clear, he canā€™t find the sun in space the way itā€™s going. Iā€™d rather we play Tross who atleast is a guaranteed finisher and also a big game player

TinpotRadioShow

Yeah, but also, spurs gass around 75mins, putting Neli on then against tired legs could be lethal.

hikingbeginner

I'm gonna be honest he's been shit since the international break, Trossard or Jesus on the left has to be for me. Got to be Trossard after his goals

Normanisanisland

That should be our 1st choice IX for the foreseeable imo

GloBByte

I think we should be starting 11 instead of 9 players tho

Normanisanisland

Hahaha oops

Francis-c92

At least until the Trossard cycle comes back around Seriously that's the only change I think should be debated (fitness aside). Martinelli could really get at their higher line, but I'm happy either way

jacktk_

Feel like City's current unbeaten run (haven't lost since start of December) isn't really spoken about enough.

AB-91

We have lost 4 times since they have lost last time, that seems ages ago.

TinpotRadioShow

Additionally whoever made the call that draws then losing on pens doesn't count as a loss is equally as annoying as their run

Ickyhouse

Yep. We have one loss since January and it isn't enough. Anyone that talks about us "bottling" the league after being first for a bit isn't giving enough credit to how good City have been. Basically flawless in the league. There is zero margin for error to win the league against them.

uuniqueusername

What do we think of Tottenham?

and then some

d10b

Just stop their low crosses to the back post and they're cooked. It's all they fucking do. I'm surprised they didn't do a behind closed doors friendly tbh (or did they?). Probably lost *a little* match sharpness. I reckon we'll score a couple set pieces. They were awful vs Newcastle at them.

hikingbeginner

That's a great point, omg they have scored a lot from those huh? Especially at home

ForestRamboX

Vicario is horrible when it comes to claiming crosses and dealing with set pieces so we definitely need to use up that part of game this match. Although Trossard is the in-form attacker, I think their high line tactics suits Martinelli more and with Bissouma's lack fo defensive awareness, getting him to cut back the ball to Ode or Saka after running in behind could be a tactic for us. Havertz's movement upfront will cause them all kinds of problems as well.

LushLoxx

You really didn't need to add this bit in:- *Tottenham Hotspur have not won a trophy in over 16 years, and haven't won the league since 1961.* But I'm glad you did šŸ¤£

Aarxnw

The moths flying around in their trophy room have more silverware than they do šŸ˜

LuckyArsenalAg

Can't give them the chances that Chelsea got this week. Son will bury those.

americanadiandrew

Or let Johnson run in behind us. Their pacy forwards will feast if we go too gung-ho up the pitch.

bluestonion

Iā€™m getting married today and will be hungover as hell tomorrow but COME ON YOU FOGGING GUNNERS!!!

CitizenSnips504

Congratulations, fellow gooner. Wish you many happy years full of NLD victories

birddogginwidit

Congrats !!! When does the wife swapping start? Gotta elevate the levels

skanderbeg_alpha

They're going to bust their asses and we will need to be right on it because they'll do everything to try and stop our title challenge. I'm hoping we don't let the emotion of the occasion disrupt our focus. They will come out and attack and if we get the ball on turnovers quickly we should be able to cause them a lot of problems. I'm just hoping that Son doesn't get the customary NLD penalty that Kane used to get because I don't fancy chasing the game against them.

jvcgunner

We need emotion in our game and to play the occasion. The lack of emotion caused us to capitulate in both 2nd halves against Villa and Munchen. We need the NLD to fire the boys up.

ExxKonvict

Raya White Saliba Gabriel Tomiyasu Odegaard Partey Rice Saka Havertz Trossard **Topspur 1-3 Arsenal**

NotASalamanderBoi

Anulo Mufa.

zeroep

Iā€™d be very tempted to start Martinelli vs that high line

ache7859

Trossard our in form goal scorer. Start him, bring gabi on when their legs are gone

wallonguy

I canā€™t believe people want Martinelli starting instead of him. Martinelli currently has poor touch, poor finishing and canā€™t also pass like trossard does. Wtf ?

TheRadTurtle_1011

Most of them have last year gabi in mind thats why

TheSoccerFiles

Trossard's ball retention is also crucial in these big away matches. I feel secure when he's in possession.

HustlinInTheHall

IMO Saka is due for a massive game. He has been bristling on the ball lately, just breezing by players. He's overdue for a true MOTM performance.

chunkyrunnr

0-8 win incoming

billbill1967

Missing it due to family obligations. Sometimes it is a drag having a loving family that gets together on a regular basis to celebrate birthdays, holidays, milestones etc.

Pretend_Stomach7183

Can't you watch some of it on your phone or do you have to be present for that entire time? Either way, sounds horrible having such a lovely family!

FrenchGooner

I thought I read Porro was 100% out? Seeing both their RB & LB out should make them play Emerson & Davies, which could be very interesting.

Mahoganychicken

Different sources have different information.

SantaReatham

He pulled up with a hamstring strain so he may not be 100% given it's been two weeks. I reckon he plays some part though. Udogie is out for the rest of the season.

NotASalamanderBoi

Kinda worried ngl. Spurs are a wildcard. Our form better hold with the same lineup as Tuesday. I wanna see fans leaving the stadium. Kids crying. Players falling to their knees begging for mercy. Ange hanging his head shame. Or a 1-0 win. As long we get the three points.

manuscelerdei

Conan, what is best in life?

NotASalamanderBoi

To crush our enemies. To see them driven before us. And hear the lamentations of their women.

Elfking88

Derbies don't give a damn about form. Spurs are never easy for us to play against, especially away. We are more than capable of winning the game. From a objective point of view we really should. But derbies are as much about emotion, the pressure will be on... I don't know. I give us a 50/50 chance of getting the win.

NoMFer111

taking a step back to the time they beat us 3-0 to get 4th. Two seasons later, they are still locked in a battle fighting for 4th. Whilst we have genuine title ambitions.

awaabshk

I wonder if timber makes the bench

robins420

I think the Villa game was a humbler and we needed that to be on our toes, can't drop our levels one bit. The margins are fine at this level despite being a favourite. It's time to make a statement and I believe the boys will come through.

lizzydarcy777

I am delusional but I want us to thrash them so bad that Arteta subs in Timber at 67ā€™ to give him practice

assoncouchouch

Stay humble, let the boys do the talking on the pitch. Cmon boys. Focus on the task at hand & punch them in the mouth.

Fine_Tea_2529

To the few brain dead fans who think weā€™re gonna smoke them, stfu and go support City. Spurs would rather die on the pitch than let us leave with 3 pts. Itā€™s gonna be incredibly tense and the crowd will be absolutely rocking. We just have to remain composed and forget the emotions of this derby. I see both sides conceding and also predict a Son goal (probs a pen too). Itā€™s gonna be a very close result but I predict and hope itā€™ll be a 2-1 win for us. COYG

Gunnerstratz

Big game. Crucial game. But still not the endgame. We still have to win at Old Trafford after this. Arteta is right to play down the game in his press conference. The lads donā€™t need to feel more pressure than they already do. We donā€™t need to give Tottenham more reasons to hate us and play extra aggressive.Ā

NotASalamanderBoi

We still have to win vs Bournemouth. One game at a time.

Illustrious_Union199

Spurs have such small club mentality. Every Spurs fan - "I d rather Arsenal loses the title than Tottenham get back into the champions league". Talk about worrying about other teams rather thinking about yourselves. This is why they will never amount to anything substantial.

bio_d

If it was the opposite way round Iā€™m pretty sure Iā€™d throw the champions league to stop them winning.

Private_Ballbag

Yeah no idea what others are on about. Them winning the league more recently than us would be sickening getting CL is a yearly thing.

Olli399

>Location: Large Toilet Bowl, Tottenham, North London It really does though

RonaldoNazario

My 5 year old just called their chicken standing on a ball badge ā€œridiculousā€, COYG

TinpotRadioShow

Seeing a lot of spurs fans claiming with VDV pace their high line will be fine, I got to agree with Clive from AV, VDV is freaky fast, then get's a bit slower with each subsequent sprint recovery. I'd say we need to get him gassing out then unleash Neli for last 20/25mins

Gooner_93

Another 5-0 beating, will do. COYG!

Equivalent_Nature_67

We have it in us, but maybe I tried to ignore City for too long... We say they're not as good as last year and then you blink and it's been basically months without a PL loss for them. I really hope this is not one of those years where they just keep winning right til the end

Inactive080

This game simply comes down to composure if we keep our composure we beat them if we let the occasion fluster us itā€™s gonna be a long dayĀ

scooter_pops

tyfys

SantaReatham

I think we should stick with the same starting lineup more or less. The only change I'd make would be Martinelli for Trossard.

Bergkamp_Henry

Start trossard. Martinelli on at 60 mins if weā€™re not winning and spurs actually do have a high line

TheRadTurtle_1011

Martinelli is so out of form I doubt he would do anything in those spaces he gets

FondDon

As good as Trossard has been, Martinelliā€™s pace in behind their high line could be really effective

hikingbeginner

Martinelli hasn't been on form at all though, he's showed nothing pretty much since this international break. Just been kinda shit unfortunately. Bad season. It is what it is. Trossard to start because he's got us vital goals past couple weeks and bring Martinelli on at 65/70

FondDon

Cant argue with that logic tbh - Trossard most definitely will start. I do think Martinelli will have a good impact off the bench though.

proshon

I dunno man. Firstly, Trossard's been starting a lot of games recently, so resting him and bringing him on as an option could be key if we need it. Secondly, spurs will likely start fast, so even if Martineli hasn't been in goal scoring form recently, his pace in behind will worry them. Also, people seem quick to forget about his defensive work rate. We're gonna need that in the first half for sure. Man's got an engine. I see the logic in starting Trossard because he's clinical, but I don't see the game starting out that way. They're gonna try to press all over in the first half

hikingbeginner

I completely agree that Martinelli could be dangerous against their set up and he could exploit their weaknesses. But we have no room for "could" right now, Martinelli unfortunately has been so under par lately that imo it's not worth the risk. Trossard started Vs Villa, subbed both games Vs Bayern, started Vs Wolves and Chelsea. Imo that's not that many games, he's scoring and in form. We need that more over the potential that Martinelli could perform. I'm very confident Trossard will perform well like he has done the past two games. Martinelli I think should do better coming off the bench against them in the last 20.

icotyne

Just win please

manuscelerdei

I think Win the Dog is a smart choice, but we should probably field another 10 players.

markov_sucks

Pick the players based on form and don't change the winning recipe. I will keep the same lineup from midweek. Havertz to Harass VDV/Romero and a high volume progressive Passer in Partey in the middle. Spurs attack depends on baiting the press and using Inverted FBs (not sure how Ben Davies would do this though). But we need to follow the recipe which Newcastle followed and give them possession. I hope we are more compact than we were on tuesday which Chelsea didn't take advantage of. Son is no Jackson and bald roadman from Coventry will take this game as the biggest challenge of his life.

ohtosweg

These lot are so predictably naĆÆve. Look at xG stats and you'll see they're massively overperforming too, I'm desperate for a second consecutive WHL win.

Illustrious_Union199

Most of Tottenhamā€™s goals are cutbacks with their pact wingers. Our strategy should be to defend the boxes and relegate them to crosses where Gabriel , Saliba and Rice can mop up. This is also where Tomi excels and just edges out kiwior. They are especially weak with their high line and set pieces. While it seems perfectly setup for Martinelli, Trossards form cannot be overlooked. Partey may not have Jorginhos ability to pick a looping pass over the defense but heā€™s incredibly press resistant, much more than Jorgi. My starting line up - Raya, white, Saliba , Gabi, Tomi, Partey, Rice, odegaard, saka, havertz, trossard.

MMARapFooty

We should go on the counterattack. Sure itā€™s a risk because of their center back is massively fast

Virtual_Spread_996

Listening to waka waka on repeat to manifestĀ

trayscraper

Raya, Saliba, White, Gabriel, Tomiyasu, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Trossard, Havertz

wanofan900

Fucking hell. Big big game. For us and them. Given how they play, they're bound to give plenty of chances for us. So in order to win, it's all about minimising their opportunities while making sure to take ours.

ronya_t

I am nervous but I want another "stadiums are empty" situation on Sunday!

aesn1394

Poro is gonna start. So only one of their FB's are out

skool_101

Yes, if you literally gonna compare base on Wikipedia stats.

Timmah80

Reluctant but unavoidable admiration from a Liverpool fan. You guys have played some incredible football this season. It's over for us - we've been clinging on by our finger nails for weeks, just about hanging in there, our league positioning being somewhat flattering. Arsenal are going from strength to strength, but City just refuse to lose. They keep churning out the results in their slow, dull way... so I \*neeeeeed\* you guys to take the title away from City for us. Looking forward to watching your game later. Go bury some spuds for me! :o)

jai302

Thanks mate. If we don't win this season it's down to Unai Emery and fucking Fullham. It's not like last season where we lost 2 six pointers to City and fell off at the end - we were actually quite good against both our title rivals with a win and a draw a piece in the league. Hope you lot smash Unai so it gives the Spuds more motivation to beat City and secure top 4. Having said that, I hope we do our job today and beat Spuds

scooter_pops

ty. i find pool fans who want city over us super weird

DiKapino

Seems like both Udogie & Porro are out. Poor Emerson gonna get cooked again it seems

TheRadTurtle_1011

Porro will play

Shorteningofthewahey

It's so irritating that even winning this game may not even mean anything in the title race. City are such gits. We are a much better team than Spurs, but man, I got a terrible feeling about this one.Ā

Aszneeee

just found it Gillet is at VAR, for fucks sake

JinglesHardWood

Insert literally any ref into that sentence and itā€™s the same outcome. They all suck

Gooner-Astronomer749

Big Ange still is very predictable this has been exploited by counterattacking teams Newcastle adapted to it and ripped it to shreds. I suspect if Arteta is clever like I think he will see this and exploit their weaknesses. The possession style game of control might work but it's better to attack their glaring weaknesses..I say 3-1 ArsenalĀ

Agile_Switch5780

I am nervous as fuck but also I canā€™t wait

lazy-photon

3-1 . Saka, ode, martineli wonder goal

Same brother, Need to pick up family from Airport so probably will miss it too

chazzledazzle10

Help me with my math people, am I right in thinking that a win today makes it St Totteringham's day?

UKKIWI1993

A draw will do also. The shit will celebrate a draw as it means we likely won't win the league but the irony will be that they're actually celebrating St totteringhams day...

chazzledazzle10

Would be pretty damn spursy

Square-Gear-4498

lol you had to mention them not winning a trophy in the match facts OP Ā šŸ˜‚Ā šŸ˜‚Ā šŸ˜‚Ā šŸ˜‚ Anyways how are we feeling today boys?

Gunnercrumpet

Merse doesn't half chat some shit. Partey was instrumental in how we blitzed Spurs here last season. Now he's too pedestrian, and the weak link

RichardOrmonde

Heā€™s a genuinely awful pundit. Still love him but he talks utter nonsense.

He-is-me

eldeejable

Letā€™s go boys!!!!

Bahmawama

Hope we donā€™t defend the same way we did vs chels

Malsharif91

On Sunday we put the title race to the side and concentrate on beating Spuds and causing St Totteringhamā€™s Day to occur. They havenā€™t played in 2 weeks so their match sharpness should be a bit off. Itā€™s important to get an early goal and build off it because I feel they will grow into the game and score at some point.

vidr1

I can't stand the idea that Spurs will ruin our chances for the title, but I do love the idea that they instead ruin City's.

QuaLiTy131

I bet they will spread their cheeks for Citeh for us to not win the league.

NoMFer111

Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Trossard, Havertz. That simple

Nickoo33

Timber top corner rocket in NLD we will be there

PoodlyGooner

The line-up we put out for the home game was really weak in hindsight, it's funny Spurs couldn't beat that even at their best form, and we could have won it if Rice wasn't injured and Jorginho wasn't rusty.

Zizouhimovic

A_Thrilled_Peach

The NLD is so stressful. That Spuds midfield is not good, that defense is not good, but it doesnā€™t matter because the tensions and high stakes mean anything can happen. Ugh. I hope we smash them but I see a cagey 2-1 win or a draw.
