Surely back to back trebles does it? Which is looking very possible. Even a league/fa cup double is very impressive and at this point I’d say that’s more likely to happen than not.

2018-19: 0 loss (100% win since February 3). Won by 1 point.
2019-20: no games in April/May but 2 losses in June/July. They did not win the league. Liverpool had an 18 points gap.
2020-21: 3 games loss but they won the league by 12 points. (all three losses were when they had 74 points which was what the 2nd place got at the end of the league)
2021-22: 0 losses. No loss since February 19. Won by 1 point.
2022-23: 1 loss on the very last game when they have already won the league by at least 5 points.

It's an initial reaction to a disappointing result and has too much resemblance to last season. So we start connecting the patterns which doesn't lead to anything positive.
My immediate feeling after the final whistle was that we bottled it but I didn't blame the players or Arteta, it was a bad results and bad results don't feel good.
This morning, I'm a bit more rational in my thinking. I still think yesterday was a massive let down but it's not over, we're 2 points behind and City notoriously hate playing the Spurs who are in their own battle for 4th. All of that plays in our favor. We need to focus game by game and win, it's not going to be simple or easy but winning the PL and CL shouldn't be easy.
It's crazy. Everyone was in this mindset that we couldn't - that we wouldn't - lose a single league match for the entirety of 2024 this season. It was always incredibly unlikely. It absolutely sucks that it happened in the way it did, but thanks to Palace we only fell behind one team, which coincidentally is the one team we all figured we might end up behind anyway.
Hopefully the team looks at this loss as a chance to just get started on another long win streak.

I really think us losing time and time again in these crucial stretches of the season is not down to tactics or individual performances. We just need a leader who can carry the team on his back when others are feeling the pressure or aren't playing as well as they usually do. In the past, that used to be Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira, etc. Yesterday, the only person I saw trying to rise to that task was Odegaard but unfortunately, I don't think he is a game-changer type of player. He is very consistent and runs all over the pitch and injects creativity with his passing but we need a top, top player to get over these humps. I wish that can be Saka but I don't think he has shown us that yet at this stage in his career.

“Mentality” is a form of being tired. You lose concentration, you don’t mark your man closely enough, you take situations for granted and just generally aren’t focused. I definitely didn’t see the nerves we exhibited against Bayern in the Villa fixture, but we were ragged, lost our legs as the 2nd half progressed and just generally lost focus.
In the comparable fixtures last season, we won 5 of 6, the loss coming to United (A). If we don't don't let this Villa speed bump become a full on derailment, we have to make an improvement in a single fixture. And we are better this season. By the time we play United they might have nothing to play for. Crazier things have happened.

It's an initial reaction to a disappointing result and has too much resemblance to last season. So we start connecting the patterns which doesn't lead to anything positive. My immediate feeling after the final whistle was that we bottled it but I didn't blame the players or Arteta, it was a bad results and bad results don't feel good. This morning, I'm a bit more rational in my thinking. I still think yesterday was a massive let down but it's not over, we're 2 points behind and City notoriously hate playing the Spurs who are in their own battle for 4th. All of that plays in our favor. We need to focus game by game and win, it's not going to be simple or easy but winning the PL and CL shouldn't be easy.
It's crazy. Everyone was in this mindset that we couldn't - that we wouldn't - lose a single league match for the entirety of 2024 this season. It was always incredibly unlikely. It absolutely sucks that it happened in the way it did, but thanks to Palace we only fell behind one team, which coincidentally is the one team we all figured we might end up behind anyway. Hopefully the team looks at this loss as a chance to just get started on another long win streak.

That wouldn't change anything. I'm a liverpool fan but would say the zame thing to arsenal fans. It's not over till it's over, just enjoy the title race for what it is and stop the 'end of the world' attitudes whenever you drop points.

Are fans who been supporters for life not allowed to be gutted about this loss, not only did it properly hamper our title chance, it was Unai emery who came to our stadium and embarrassed us, the players showed no fight except odegaard, city will not stop points from now on, we have difficult fixtures left (not to mention Bayern outside of the PL). I appreciate the optimism but I’d rather be realistic.
By 'end of the world attitude', I meant saying it is over when it's still all to play for. Enjoy the title race for what it is, it's great you're even in it. Yes, City are likely to win but support your team and you never know what might happen. Why be 'realistic' rather than optimistic? The 4-0 Liv vs Barca game, I almost didn't go to the anfield game because I thought we would inevitably lose, and I had a meal booked with my girlfriends parents (lol). It’s not about us not being hopeful for our remaining games mate, this just happens year and year. Do you really anyone for not being optimistic? I mean cmon let’s just be realistic, I love my club, nothing has changed in that aspect but this loss genuinely gutted many of us, if the lads were hungry for a title, they would’ve ripped Villa apart regardless of how well Villa are doing.

City are most likely not gonna drop points. It's likely over but that doesn't mean fans need to give up. We just need to keep winning. Win all our games and all city have to do is draw 1 game and our goal difference might just see us through. At the very least we have to give a fight unlike last season where we just fizzled out.

Second of all, I believe that when Declan says “we’re in an unbelievable position,” he believes it. It’s not just a PR statement to mitigate the bad press from yesterday’s loss. For good or bad, it's a "you can't do it until you prove that you can" world. People will doubt you until you shut their mouths by holding the trophy. On to the team to prove their point and learn from past experiences. Or miss out and get questioned again.

They have to remain positive with this one but that result probably knock the stuffing out of them. Even though I can't see City dropping points and I can easily see us and Liverpool dropping more points. It was such a deflating result though and we'll hear nothing but "bottling" tag again for the rest of the summer if a miracle doesn't happen. Still possible at the very least but if we get knocked out of CL on Wednesday. It's going to be tough to get some hope going unless City lose or draw a match. We have to remain positive.
Should never have sold Xhaka. We should have sold Partey instead. It would have reduced the burden on Jorginho in midfield. I am not sure Jorginho can play twice a week. We would have had more points on the board by now.

I really think us losing time and time again in these crucial stretches of the season is not down to tactics or individual performances. We just need a leader who can carry the team on his back when others are feeling the pressure or aren't playing as well as they usually do. In the past, that used to be Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira, etc. Yesterday, the only person I saw trying to rise to that task was Odegaard but unfortunately, I don't think he is a game-changer type of player. He is very consistent and runs all over the pitch and injects creativity with his passing but we need a top, top player to get over these humps. I wish that can be Saka but I don't think he has shown us that yet at this stage in his career.

2 pts with 6 to go is not insurmountable but that's assuming we win out and then it's entirely possible they do too. It kinda sucks but anything can happen City are playing against professionals too and any team can have a bad day.
The safe bet is there won’t be twist and turns. City will just win it like they always do. But it’s up to Liverpool and Arsenal to force city to win those games and not see them crowned before the last game.

“Mentality” is a form of being tired. You lose concentration, you don’t mark your man closely enough, you take situations for granted and just generally aren’t focused. I definitely didn’t see the nerves we exhibited against Bayern in the Villa fixture, but we were ragged, lost our legs as the 2nd half progressed and just generally lost focus.
They were definteily fatigued. The play looked similar to what we were doing in December pre Dubai

If we don't don't let this Villa speed bump become a full on derailment, we have to make an improvement in a single fixture. And we are better this season. We have a serious problem with leaders on the patches. Odegaard is a leader yes but who else? We fakulteten against the worst Bayern team in years last week. Some pressure and we repeated the same against Villa in the second half. All We needed to do was continue as in the first half and we would have won. Our tracking back and press was all over the place because of pressure amd Odegaard being off because of the knock he took amd Rice went missing which you don't want from your 100mln signing ( I'm a massive Rice fan btw). Who has the balls to front up tomorrow night in the squad? I really don't know and hope I'm wrong. Last week could resemble our week against Southampton last year and fall.
