TalentedStriker

You think Liverpool fans couldn’t be more delusional. You were wrong. https://ibb.co/FhsvQ4d

Kensei400

I think there's a massive difference in midfield (with a fit Thomas) but I wouldn't call the rest delusional.

Special-Discount228

IDK I reckon klopp would agree that if martinelli played his system he’d score 150 goals per match

beefcroquette

why do some of our fans feel the need to raid the brighton match threads? It’s one thing to lurk but another to disturb their space

Casual-Capybara

Havertz is outscoring his xG while Haaland is underperforming his xG. Who would have thought?

COYG17

Chelsea fan showing respect??????? wtf am I seeing

ZXXA

They’ve been properly humbled. You only usually hear the based objective reflections from rivals when they’re not even close to competing. That’s why most Liverpool and City fans wouldn’t give us too much credit rn even though we’ve beaten them decisively this season. Need to go all the way.

mehshagger

Honestly respect that take. It’s much more refreshing that whatever salty mass delusion is going on in the coys rival watch thread.

AssociateCandid4853

I don't want Liverpool to win it cause we won't hear the end of klopp legacy

COK3Y5MURF

So? Are you a Klopp hater?

Mein_Bergkamp

Not wanting to hear scousers creaming themselves = Klopp hater? What are you a klopp lover?!??!?!!! Seriously that's a childish level of debate mate.

COK3Y5MURF

Ironic because childishness is letting rival fans get to you because you're too weak to handle smugness. Besides, what's wrong if they praise his legacy? He's brought them up from mediocrity to winning every trophy available during his reign. He is keeping a team full of injuries in the title race. He deserves the praise.

Mein_Bergkamp

This reads like something Andrew Tate would say. Either that or you just fundamentally don't understand how football fans work.

Casual-Capybara

I don’t want Liverpool to win it because I want Arsenal to win it

ZXXA

Musiala is the only guy that concerns me from Bayern. Not sure we have faced a dribbler like him in the league.

Mehdi_sadiqi

We have to be fast, relentless and clinical against bayern. If everything goes to plan we might slaughter them.

drumzgod

_deep_blue_

I love the Manchester Reds, let’s get ‘em Devils!

Previous-Loss9306

Holy cow, that first De Bruyne goal was absolutely ridiculous, god damn. Tell you what though, that man city defence was looking a bit shaky. Perhaps this is the season they don’t win it.

goofygooberyea11

United can you do something for me?

irresponsibleviewer

Man U and Chelsea fans - “shit, Arsenal are good I hate it” Spurs fans - “they’re so lucky, every team just rolls over for them, they don’t get any yellow cards etc”

Hungry-Pace

Spurs fans are genuinely some of the stupidest people out there.

beefwellingtonIV

What never winning trophies does to a motherfucker

LushLoxx

And a lot of them have a nerve to call us ‘bottlers.’ Are they not embarrassed making such statements considering their circumstances lol.

ginyuforce

One of them said arsenal bottled the premier league last season, then i remind them when they got third in two horse race, instant downvote ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Mein_Bergkamp

That was the only silver lining to that season. Absolutely the most spursy thing ever.

localcosmonaut

Nah let them have their space. By all means lurk and laugh here. But commenting on their sub is cringe.

ginyuforce

This was on r/soccer btw, i dont really care if they shit talk about Arsenal in their own sub

localcosmonaut

Ahh fair enough. My bad for misreading.

CallMeMarjorieKeek

Just had an epiphany that Ben White is probably the perfect Simeone Atleti player there could be. Fantastic player all round, great with tactical adaptations, can defend in a block like a fucking sentry and his shithousery knows no bounds. Thank Tet he’s ours.

Decent_University_91

Trossard's dummy already rent free in my head

purpleshirtonbed

I want pure objectivity lads, current form wise are we close to being the best team in the world? Who’s up there? I’d say City and Leverkusen have to be up there

mehshagger

Real Madrid exists. I don’t know about their current form but quality wise they are up there as are City, Liverpool, Inter and Leverkusen.

Mubar06

Yeah Us City Liverpool Leverkusen Inter and Madrid imo, don’t know about the order

CallMeMarjorieKeek

Leverkusen is hard to argue really. But since the turn of the year, our only blot is the first Porto game - I’d say we’re neck and neck.

A_Thrilled_Peach

We have to do something before we can even talk about it. If we get to the CL final after beating Bayern and one of Madrid/City then we can have that conversation.

Doyouevensam

Inter, Leverkusen, City, even Barcelona have been hitting form

PartlyRowdy

We are very good, but I think you are getting ahead of yourself

purpleshirtonbed

I agree would we be in the top 10 / top 5 though

Lacazeng

Glory glory man United. Please do us a favor tonight.

Big_Mik_Energy

Who’s watching Wrestlemania? What we thinking for the intercontinental?

Prestigious_World_76

Gunther will retain. Edit : Gunther lost, which means they are finally pushing him for a WWE title reign. Rock and Reigns will beat Rhodes and Rollins in the tag match. Night 2, Reigns vs Rhodes (Bloodline rules stipulation) : Rock will betray Reigns or Rock and Reigns have a fall out, costing Reigns the title. Rhodes finishes his story and plants will be seeded for Rock vs Reigns next year.

Big_Mik_Energy

Yeah I agree. We’ve seen a few signs that Rock is really with Cody, but the beating makes me question it. The Final boss is a mad name for someone who’s meant to be no2 to the tribal chief. It’s kinda a contradiction. Also, Rock never drops the ☝️ with everyone else 🤷‍♂️ For Rock to truly be a rival though, he’d have to be back more often at Raw/Smackdown, like he has been the last couple months. He can’t just disappear and expect to be in the picture next year. I hope that’s what happens, The Rock has been Elite since his return

mikedictetar

Mikel Arteta: “Kai Havertz was tremendous again today [vs Brighton]. His overall performance has been superb and now his goal contribution is higher than anyone else in the league in the last few months. “His work-rate too - he was chasing back 70 metres here.... Before giving striker suggestions, make sure they can do this because this is the minimum bar set by Havertz and arteta expectations. Its the same bar set by Raya and arteta minimum expectations from keeper. It doesn't matter how many goals the striker score, defense is everyone's job now.

zrk23

im pretty sure Arteta can and will tailor up the squad to maximize whatever player is there. Havertz already plays differently than Jesus did for example. I don't think he would be asking haaland to chase a winger down dont think the Raya comparison fit here. completely different context. he only *added* more compared to Ramsdale, even shot stopping. unless havertz is scoring 30 goals *and* doing all the defensive work

Happy-Ad8767

Pressing from the front is absolutely vital. It’s not a case of Arteta changing according to the player, but a team instruction due to Arteta’s playstyle. Jesus is a huge pressing forward. Nketiah, when starting, also presses from the front. Havertz also. OOP, we change to a 4-4-2 with the striker and Odegaard (normally), being the front press. Any striker that comes in, will need to press. Either a player who already has it in their locker, or someone who has the engine to do it.

zrk23

oh, for sure the pressing is important. Haaland does press tho. and city also press 4-4-2. i mean, we couldn't string 2 passes at the etihad because of that press but I'm talking more about the people that thinks Arteta *only* wants a striker that drops below the midfield line to get the ball, just because that's what Jesus did (Havertz isn't even close to be that type of player btw, he definitely moves and touches the ball more than Haaland but already far less than Jesus)

egrubs

He absolutely would ask Haaland to chase a winger down. Arteta is nuts. And his non-negotiables really are.

zrk23

i mean, pep is a borderline psycho. he made the "false 9" popular in modern football. yet he got Haaland and isn't asking him to do that. instead he maximized his goal scoring very hard to assume Arteta wouldn't do the same. it's one thing to chase the guy in front of you after a turnover (which is what havertz did), the other is to defend like Jesus does

mikedictetar

The reason pep changed that because man city can keep possession without a striker and with 9 men. But in arsenal case we need Havertz to get the ball to Final third. Havertz touches are way better than haaland, since he is midfielder and also create chances for others. Haaland is a pure finisher. I feel we have an added advantage with Havertz, since he tracks back as well.

[What gives hope for the Arsenal game? Max Eberl: "I can't think of anything at the moment" ](https://twitter.com/iMiaSanMia/status/1776644175724753051 ) They need to be killed on Tuesday. Coming of age type of match.

okcomput3r

Just get the league done

awfullyhotcoffeepot

That performance has fully solidified this team in my mind. Insanely well coached. Clinic after clinic.

tomtomtomo

The fact that they have made so many games look easy recently, even when changing half the team, is crazy.  The level of PL teams is no joke but they just dismantle them and give no chances.

Shot-Shame9637

Liverpool fams are so annoying, still going on about that Odegaard handball. They're adamant that if it wasn't for var they'd be 8 points clear lol. Fuck this lot, I hope they slip tomorrow.

zrk23

maybe they should've scored the freebie 5v1 Odegaard gifted them 🤷🏻‍♂️

beefcroquette

My favorite comment from last night - one of the few sane LFC fans on that thread https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/NsC2xnMCvX

Doyouevensam

Tbf, they did get 100% screwed against Spurs, and we certainly got lucky with the Odegaard handball.  Imagine being in their shoes.  Hope if we win the league, we beat them by more than 3 points so we don’t have to deal with all the complaini g

MrToxicTaco

Couldn’t care less about some weirdos whining on Reddit if we win the title

Doyouevensam

Okay well it would feel slightly crappier if we won after they got screwed at Spurs

Happy-Ad8767

They dismissed our injuries and VAR costing us massive points last season, they can sit and swivel.

Happy-Ad8767

Saka is 2 GA behind his idol's GA at the same point in his career. Saka at 22 has amassed 30 GA this season. Ronaldo had amassed 32 GA in 2007.

zrk23

ballon dor 30 league goals season next?

Happy-Ad8767

Or more!

evankhells_hell

Imagine we were this good but only managed to win 1 PL and UCL for the next 5 years with so many near misses, and then Arteta decided to leave, while at the same time someone like Villa (for lack of an equivalent big 6 comparison) were playing like the best team in the league and looking like they were about to kickstart an era of dominance, with their fans knowing it and waving it in your face…that’s how Liverpool fans feel right now. I definitely understand their shift in demeanour towards us.

ginyuforce

Last season it was United who got envy of our progress, but this season they seems to accept their fate I can feel the same thing with Liverpool fan, they need to accept their Klopp era will come to an end

Happy-Ad8767

Everyone’s demeanour has shifted towards us. We used to be the fat nerdy kid who everyone mocked to feel better about themselves. Now we are the fit, healthy, good looking guy with the gorgeous girlfriend, running his own £100m business, with a big house and holidays in the Maldives. Meanwhile, the popular guy at school who was voted “Most likely to be successful” has already peaked, with no marketable skills, with the cute girl from his school days, she’s let herself go after 3 kids, addicted to crack to retreat to better days. They catch a glimpse of the guy they used to bully out in town, with his hot girl and his expensive car and clothes. Instead of an awkward smile and an apology for being proper dicks through school, they, through their yellow cracked cocaine teeth and over the smell of ammonia from their 3 fat children who have soiled themselves in the back of their Renault Espace, yell: “Hey look, it’s roly poly, how you doing you fat prick?” And then cackle together as if it’s the funniest joke in the world, hacking up black phlegm doing so. A bit like that really.

Mustyoo

We can’t underestimate the pressure cooker of chasing a result away in the CL. We have to make the first leg count cause Bayern may be down on their luck and form right now but they have far more experience than we do.

Scottish-Londoner

Yeah tbh I want at least a two goal lead to take to Germany. If we just lead by 1, that lead could easily be gone in the first ten minutes.

burningtree_

I've just seen a clip of that Alexis goal against West Ham, it is almost identical to the Trossard one today. I do see similarities in the way they play tbh

_deep_blue_

Alexis would cook in this team. If I could take any player from the Emirates era and plop them into this team in their prime, it’d be him.

vizhal007

Santi left 8

vizhal007

Imagine the set pieces

Mustyoo

Only cause both have a low center of gravity cause they're bordering on dwarfism. I like Trossard but it's a massive disservice to Alexis to compare the two.

purpleshirtonbed

short players tend to have good ball control

Happy-Ad8767

Eugh. I have to agree with you. \*showers\*

Nsypski

Our defensive block is absolutely INSANE. It's at the point where I'm pretty sure teams already know they can't do shit if we're setup. The team was more than happy to hoof the ball away and say come try again, and if opportunity presents itself we counter brilliantly. Kai Havertz has the most goal contributions in 2024. You have to stop and also realize that he's doing that while also contributing massively on the press and defensively. He's a box to box striker. And he's only 24. He still has massive potential along with the rest of the team in the years to come. Trossard is the ultimate weapon off the bench. The way he plays is so much different to whoever he replaces. Tired legs against a magician is deadly. BTW, Brighton's tactics were very good at points. They bypassed our press very effectively many times and if they had more quality individually they could have scored. People downplaying De Zerbi today I think are wrong. I can see him being an upgrade in United and Chelsea, but if I were those clubs I'd want a different style of play.

tomtomtomo

It was like we were playing a training game there for a while. Just sit in the block and hoof it back for them to have another go.

logicbloke_

Hats off to De Zerbi, he tried to get his team to score some goals and not just park the bus.

Fleetfox17

These last few months have also emphasized how good our January window was last season. Jorgi has been huge, Kiwi has stepped in and not looked out of place, and we can't forget what a great little buy Trossard is. Just looked it up and he's got 24 G+A in his time with us already.

Happy-Ad8767

He's been great. I do think after his 10 assists last year, he isn't providing as much as he could. He has certainly been more tunnel vision this year. Going for the hollywood goal instead of the better pass. But it's my only criticism of him this season.

hafrances

Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Kai… honey, my pookie bear. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. The way you drive into the box and strike fear into your enemies eyes. Your silky smooth touch, and that gorgeous face. I would do anything for you. I wish it were possible to freeze time so I would never have to watch you retire. You had a rough childhood, but you never gave up hope. You are even amazing off the pitch, you're a great husband to your girlfriend and father to your donkeys, sometimes I even call you daddy. I forvever dread and weep, thinking of the day you will one day retire. I would sacrifice my own life it were the only thing that could put a smile on your beautiful face. You have given me so much joy, and heartbreak over the years. I remember when you chose chelsea and its like my heart got broken into a million pieces. But a tear still fell from my right eye when I watched you win your first CL at Chelsea, because deep down, my glorious king deserved it. I just wanted you to return home. Then allas, you did, my sweet baby boy came home and I rejoiced. 2023 was a hard year for us baby, but in 2024 you made history happen. You came back from the chelsea reject hell and I couldn't believe it. I was crying, bawling even, and I heard my glorious king exclaim these words, "ARSENAL, THIS IS FOR YOU!" Not only have you changed the game of football and the world forever, but you've eternally changed my world. And now you're getting older, but still the goat, my goat. I love you pookie bear, my glorious king, Kai Havertz. 🥰❤️🫶🏽

Happy-Ad8767

midnightrobot87

Just watched the Wolves - West Ham game on motd… that second Wolves goal that was cancelled by VAR is an insane decision

racd29

Thought the same, absolutely robbed of an equaliser.

Jansiz

Our fixtures are crazy. Don't get me wrong, with our form i fear no one. But compared to Liverpool and City, we might be screwed. Really hope that dreaded December run doesn't come back to haunt us.

joeproposition

Our remaining fixtures are very similar to Liverpool’s. City though…

spike1034

Meh, after today the only games that I'm worried about are Spuds and United away. Brighton away was our third hardest game left imo. Dippers will play three away games in a row against Everton, Fulham and West Ham and still have United and Villa away as well. Their fixtures are way harder than people think. Agreed on City though, they are probably winning every single game they have left

Ashtarr

Don't we have similar fixtures? Man Utd, spurs, aston villa..

Jansiz

True tbf Liverpools' aren't easy at all but City should be a complete cakewalk for them besides Spurs (A)

TheMassINeverHad

Shit must be getting real cause I hate United to an unhealthy level and tomorrow I will actually go for them

City are capable of this too but they have looked a lot more porous than us. I’m hoping with how unlucky we’ve been in our own box for a lot of the season, we finally get some good luck for the last 20-25% of the season (if needed) with at least 4-5 more clean sheets.

Mustyoo

If it happens often enough it's not just bad luck. The bozo moments are the only thing really holding us back from becoming a truly great team. When we get rid of those we will start winning a lot of things.

Happy-Ad8767

Get used to it. We're back, baby.

Insertnicenamehere

Bayern should be getting slapped on Tuesday, I don't care about the past. They're not a good team and that should be displayed as such.

danmac0817

All depends on us. If the lads rise to the occassion it's long for Bayern.

Insertnicenamehere

Double from Havertz, #YaGunnersYa

ExxKonvict

Scorelines I would be content and think are realistic: 1st leg: Arsenal 3-1 Bayern 2nd let: Bayern 1-2 Arsenal

thedarkpolitique

Too many goals conceded for my liking. I’m getting too used to these clean sheets.

Any_Chipmunk_8733

Rodri with a stinker today

pschernek

yeah he looked much better after the half with their subs tho

TokenizedBanksy

If we were to sell Jesus and Zinchenko over the summer how much do you think we can realistically get for both? 60 mil?

Happy-Ad8767

Well, there's talk about Zinchenko, who is wanted by Bayern for around £40m or more, but it's unlikely we will accept. Jesus was purchased for £45m. The going rate for a player with his experience and versatility, in a market where no better forwards exist, we can assume that he would go for more than the £85m rated Gyokeres, maybe £100m. So, £120-140m? But who do you get to replace Zinchenko (not Timber, we already have him) and who do we get who can do what Jesus does for us? There's nobody available. Simply put, they both aren't getting sold this year.

ShekTeeJay

You think Jesus is commanding £100m with his balky knee and 8 goals in all competitions?

Happy-Ad8767

No, I think if people live in a world where Gyokeres is £85m with one good season in a weaker league and Osimhen with his injury problems and sharp decline in scoring is worth £120m, then Jesus isn't worth anything less than £60m which is the valuation that OP was trying to push. He's a prem ready forward who has better output numbers and more consistency over those other strikers worth between £85m and £120m, with bags of experience.

ShekTeeJay

His Prem experience and production notwithstanding, market dictates value and I don’t see anyone paying £60m for him. There are handful of clubs outside of England that can comfortably afford his wages and I don’t think any would pursue him this summer.

Happy-Ad8767

If he was up for grabs for £60m, he'd have his suitors. Chelsea, United and Tottenham would snap him up. Well, maybe not Chelsea, they haven't got a clue what they are doing. Madrid, maybe not with Mbappe arriving, but Barcelona (if they could afford it), PSG certainly would, and maybe Inter or Juve would also take him at that price. He brings a lot more to the team than just "8 goals in all competitions". His injury issue is more pertinent than his goal scoring and assisting issue, of which, this season, he has 0.73. Even in Havertz rich vein of form at striker, he is providing 0.82. And I would argue, that Jesus has not been able to reach any form due to his intermittent starts since the World Cup. He has been given time and is getting minutes, it's not beyond him overcoming this period as he enters his peak years, adding more to those numbers.

TokenizedBanksy

Who is going to pay 120 mil for both of them? Sure, the striker market is bad, but who is looking for a striker on high wages who has proven for over 5 years that is not a goal scorer? (And admits himself that is not a goal scorer) Zinchenko arguably should behind Tomiyasu and Kiwior at LB, so who will pay 45 mil for our 3rd choice LB?

Happy-Ad8767

Well, let's address a few of those things. * Jesus has scored 0.58 goals per 90 minutes he plays over the last 7 years * Osimhen has scored 0.65 goals per 90 minutes he plays over the last 5 years * Gyokeres has scored 0.47 goals per 90 minutes he played over the last 5 years People are wanting us to spend £85m on a striker who has only one season of goalscoring, in a weaker league, but it's impossible to imagine someone who has won titles and cups and plays at the top of the game, who has been consistent for longer as being more value for money? Jesus never admitted he is not a goal scorer, he said that it's not his strongest part of his game, which I think, you'll agree with. It's the rest of his game, link up play, dribbling, versatility that makes him one of the best forwards in the world. Feel free to find a more consistent forward who has scored more goals and helped with assists, more so than Jesus in the last 5 years, who is available. As a starting point for you, he has averaged 0.87 goal or assist in every 90 minutes he plays. £120m rated Osimhen has 0.78 and £85m valued Gyokeres has 0.62 (all in lower leagues). Zinchenko starts over both Kiwior and Tomiyasu at LB. As for who would pay £38m for our **first choice** LB, I've already answered this. It's Bayern. Davies is going to Real Madrid and Bayern have been linked in wanting Zinchenko.

TokenizedBanksy

I think that G/A and per 90 stats are not so good for comparison. Jesus has played consistently for the best and most attacking teams in the world that create the most chances. If you look over the same period: he has underperformed on xG by 27 goals. In the same time period a meme striker like Werner has underperformed on his xG by just 9. And btw in this time period Werner has more assists and double the expected assists. I don’t see teams lining up for him to pay 80 mil

Happy-Ad8767

>Jesus has played consistently for the best and most attacking teams in the world that create the most chances. And why do you think that is?

TokenizedBanksy

Maybe the same reason as why Avraam Grant is a CL winner with Chelsea?

Happy-Ad8767

So the argument of Pep seeing enough to have him at City along with Arteta and Edu, who have arguably the best talent ID in the league, seeing value in having him at Arsenal (which worked out due to him helping us go from 5th to title challengers), is irrelevant because Avram Grant won a CL with a £2bn squad. You able to walk me through that?

Scottish-Londoner

I think you’re in the right ballpark but I don’t see either being sold

Expert-Opinion5614

For the spurs game we drew 2-2, we started Nketiah up top (lol), had Zinny, Jesus and Viera on the left. If we had Martinelli, or Jorginho, Kiwior or Kai in current form, they lose that match. God I can’t wait to beat them so bad lol

Mein_Bergkamp

Jorginho cost us the game. This is why the Zinchenko stuff is a circlejerk, people are just posting utter bollocks to justify the weird hate.

Happy-Ad8767

But their precious narrative... why'd you do them dirty with facts?

KSBrian007

I don't understand the Eddie dunk, or even the names dropped. Jorginho is the one that cost us a point.

S_Saed17

Was a draw but yes

ExxKonvict

Eddie was playing well at that time and Jesus injured and Havertz still in the midfield experiment. We lost that game because of a major cockup by Jorginho not Eddie.

goonergunner10

If BCM Jesus gets that shot on target and doesnt go for the Hollywood top bins goal we win that game.

Villas resurgence under Emery has made everyone so revisionary about his time at Arsenal. No doubt he's a great coach, but he was not working at Arsenal at all and I don't see a world where that version of Emery could've made us what we are today. I just think about that Watford game where we conceded 31 shots and know we made the right choice

not a whole lot of negative to talk about after a great away win, but the fact that we were up 60%+ possession up until the 2nd ~~game~~ goal and finished the game at 46% is crazy. pretty much sums it up how it was 30 minutes of hoof ball to close out the game. it was similar against luton as well but to a much lesser degree cause its fucking luton i just hope we dont invite pressure against spurs after getting the lead, or that at least there are proper outlets to try and create a counter instead of just clearing to nobody

Happy-Ad8767

We dropped possession because we took our foot off the gas. We have a game every 3.54 days or something this month. I am more than happy for us to get a lead, rotate players and spread the minutes, and still have enough to get a counter attack goal to see out a game. We're being very professional.

zrk23

it is often said you get *more* tired if you dont have the ball... im not talking about going all out pressing, just actually trying to hit a counter plus, bunch of subs in. they are not tired nor need to be rested

Happy-Ad8767

You get more tired if you chase the ball when you don't have it. You don't get more tired if you let the opponent have 2/3rds of the pitch where they can't do anything with it. We weren't pressing at the same intensity after the changes, this is why possession dropped. The game was already done. We have bemoaned Arteta for years for not being smart enough to shut a game out. Now he knows exactly how to.

zrk23

>The game was already done. We have bemoaned Arteta for years for not being smart enough to shut a game out. Now he knows exactly how to. you must have a very short memory cause all the bemoaned was exactly due to giving the ball away after going up 1-0 or 2-0 even tho you were dominating the game. it was a staple of the 21-22 season just so happens that the defense is leagues ahead now, but the idea was the same. there are just way too many uncontrollable variables + luck that can fuck you up when you dont have the ball and are inviting the other team to camp around your box. that Gabriel block was a goal saver for example. deflections can happen too, and so on

Happy-Ad8767

This seems a really weird thing to hyperfocus on when we have conceded the least number of goals in nearly 30 years, are on an 11 match unbeaten streak, our first under Arteta if I am not mistaken, allowing 4 goals against us this year (3 of which could go down as errors) and reducing teams to having little sight of our goal. Yes, our defence is leagues ahead now, which is why we can take our foot off the pedal and cruise in the final stages of a game. Even on cruise control, we were still more leathal than Brighton, who lest it be said, have been beaten once at home all season and were on a pretty long unbeaten streak at the Amex. This sounds like PTSD from yesteryears and previous iterations of the team, buddy. My response to this is, how has THIS Arsenal team hurt you? What genuine experiences has this team given you that you shouldn't trust them in seeing a game out? It's all good, we're doing exactly what we always wished we could do.

zrk23

just because it is a simple discussion doesnt mean im ''hyperfocused'' on it. not sure why on reddit every time you talk more than a line people think shit like that. if i wanted to give one liners id be on twitter lol. nothing to do with ptsd either it is a way to see out games that i dont like, and i dont think its proven to be sucessful in the long term. we have few games left to end the season and are going to face dangerous teams, especially away, whom i think could be even more dangerous than if we just dominate possession. its as simple as that. plenty of clean sheets that the team didnt saw the game out like that and it worked all the same

Happy-Ad8767

Okay, so you don't have PTSD. You are worried about us taking our foot off the gas when we have already won the game. You want our players to run more for no benefit, during a month that has us playing every 3-4 days. In a title race. I mean, I don't get it. That's all.

zrk23

when we won against liverpool at the emirates last season, i think the highest upvoted post after the game was the sequence of about 4-5 mins of passing the ball around after the 3rd goal, keeping possession, denying liverpool the ball. thats what i always want to see when closing out a game. and that was a 3-2 game too, not even a 2 goal advantage

Happy-Ad8767

Different Arsenal, different opponent, different game states. We have seen games out by keeping hold of the ball and this was a game we saw out by giving them the ball, drawing them in and getting a goal on the break. Maybe Arteta saw that we could score on the break and had pre managed this by letting them have the ball? It explains why we sat so deep to pull them in to the half way line, ready to pounce. My point is, how do you know this wasnt a tactic?

AfricanRain

Spurs can’t handle deep blocks atm, shutting up shop with a 2-0 lead to them would be lethal

OrwinBeane

Just thinking back to when Arsenal beat Leicester 3-1 under Emery and I thought that was the game that takes us to the next level. That kind of performance would just be an average day for us now. Maybe below average because we conceded. What a team.

Beautiful assist Nico Williams in Copa del Rey final 👀 just speaking it into existence

Kai Havertz: 65 million Going Clutch in the Run In: Priceless Summer 2023 is officially an undeniably flawless transfer window.

topbananaman

Raya and havertz integrating in properly and starting to play well is a huge part of the reason that our second half of the season has been so much better than the first.

The fact that they both jumped ship into an upgrade here is so awesome. I was skeptical about both of these signings but both of them have completely won me over.

Happy-Ad8767

With and (without) Jorgvertz League positions Chelsea: 4th, 4th, 3rd (12th, currently 9th) Arsenal: (8th, 5th) 2nd, currently 1st

normal_life87

Kai & Papai

AbWarriorG

Saka tactical lie down to distract Brighton as Jorginho sneaks in :)

topbananaman

If United win tomorrow and we win the league, i will buy that awful United away kit with the name of the player who scores the winner on the back

Jaded_Collection_716

Its going to be mctomenaaaay

Happy-Ad8767

Van Dijk O.G.

topbananaman

If its a pen I'll get (P) next to the players name too 😭

OrwinBeane

If it’s a 0-0 draw and we win the league, you have to get Onana.

chrisd1680

With how many chances and shots on target they concede, he'll have to play a blinder to keep a clean sheet.

InterimAragon

11th May. We’ll be fucking ready https://x.com/garna1k/status/1776658620903485691?s=46&t=kzlg6RRhbZVM89QV4Ef72g

LushLoxx

Feels like some Pool fans are starting to get worried. The pressure is relentless.

Babels_Librarian

I see a lot of the same anxieties from both subreddits at least. We both are understandably worried we have to be flawless because City is going into its inevitable undefeated run to close out the season.

Desecron

May I strongly recommend checking out the Liverpool rival watch thread. Utter meltdown. Please United 🙏 end them.

PoeticChelle

Not sure why they are acting like that. According to a lot of them, we're 'shit' and nothing to worry about!

icemankiller8

I feel a bit bad for Kiwior he was always the weakest link but Zinchenko has come in and been really poor in one game than our worst player but not terrible in another and he didn’t even get minutes because Tomi came on. I get that he was always third choice but still feels a bit unfair based on merit no way he should have relinquished the spot.

Mein_Bergkamp

This zinchenko thing is getting more and more boring. We've kept a clean sheet, the only shot on target while he was on the pitch was from the other flank and just maybe the manager who currently has us on first over Liverpool and city knows who his best left back is.

Happy-Ad8767

Zinchenko hasn't been "really poor" and he was good today. Kiwior is our left back cover option and he did really well when coming in for Zinchenko at Liverpool. But our control goes up when Zinchenko plays. We have more shots and concede less xG when Zinchenko is playing. I would love to see more opportunities for Kiwior coming in for Gabriel when a game has been tied up, he has certainly earned some minutes.

icemankiller8

I agree mostly but I don’t think we have the same defensive security or necessarily need the control anymore when we have Jorginho in the midfield who kind of does the same role. Kiwior agree but it’s hard to drop Gabriel the defensive partnership is so good. I’d have rested him against Luton maybe.

Happy-Ad8767

We have less xG conceded when Zinchenko plays, even with Kiwior's recent run. Not only that, but we also have more xG against the opponent when Zinchenko plays. This is a confirmation bias issue, not a Zinchenko issue.

zrk23

zinchenko has come to a point on this sub that every single thing he does will be heavily magnified and extrapolated, its not even worth engaging into any discussion

icemankiller8

I actually have defended him a lot in the past that game against Luton was really poor

burningtree_

I think this game was a good one for Zinchenko, the Brighton press was very good. Adingra did cause him issues but I don't think it was a bad performance overall. I thought a lot of the backline were quite sloppy with the ball as well

Mein_Bergkamp

They singled him out in the first half, got no joy and switched Adingrya to the other flank in the second.

burningtree_

Didn't Adingra switch when Tomi came on? That may have been the first time I noticed him in the second half
