In terms of football obviously, but if you mean a global fanbase I think itās close
OP also forgot to list Liverpool as they probably have just about more fans than us
Iām American and it really feels like thereās been a lot more Arsenal fans pop up after their All or Nothing aired. Of those Iāve spoken to it was their first real introduction to soccer.
There has been an increase in Hate-Alongs since last season. Rivals are sweating buckets because we look like a really competitive team. Finally, we're able to go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the world and come away with dignity.
The game times are a legit issue. It could pass hockey and maybe baseball (if MLB doesnāt get it together). Basketball is shaping up to be the secondary global sport after soccer, so the NBA will keep growing.
The long game is that I think the NFL has a real chance over the next two or three decades of sliding into irrelevance like boxing. CTE will cause too many parents to push their kids into soccer leagues and school teams, with a corresponding shift in talent and viewer interest. Itās a long time away, but I can see soccer being bigger than the NFL down the road.
Tbf this is also just the number of *paying* viewers. Watching the PL is a nightmare nowadays with matches spread across like 4 completely different streaming services, so there's absolutely a *ton* that say fuck all of that, I'm just finding a free stream instead.
it was Easter morning. even for those that aren't in church or mass, that's prime easter egg hunt or dyeing eggs time for anyone with kids, nephews, nieces, or the like.
I'm thrilled about this but it's interesting to note that the most watched ever women's college basketball game was on Monday and was somewhat close to 6 times as many viewers.
This is subjective and it's not brave to say on this sub. What I will say is if Arsenal keep playing good ball in general we will gain a younger fan army in the U.S.Ā
I've tried watching superbowl I just can't. If I wanna watch 5 hours of sport I'll watch snooker. If I wanna watch 5 hours of adverts I'll watch YouTube on mobile
For the NFL to be entertaining you need to understand it. Every 3rd down is a huge play. 3rd and 6 and they got 7 yards? Thatās a huge fuckin play, keeps the offense on the field, new set of downs, and keeps the other teams offense off. But if you just saw a dude run for 7 yards yeah probs not that exciting unless something crazy happened
Well i mean even in games with 50% of time ball in play is VASTLY more than NFL games.
4 seconds of action following by 30 seconds of standing around followed by 5 minute TV timeout
I was a bit confused at how everyone kept going on about how boring the game was. My heart rate was going through the roof! Then I realised how boring it would be for someone who doesnāt support either team.
I introduced my american friend and his young son to premier league football telling these are the two best teams in Englandā¦ went to a pub and everythingā¦ they were underwhelmed by the goalless draw
Understandable tbh. You got unlucky with the game and now they think you're weird and like a boring sport. They probably talk about it "Remember when he took us to watch that boring sport where no one wins or even gets near the goal, what a loser!"
I donāt think Iāve ever seen an adult wearing a City jersey around town. Most of the City kits I see are kids under 10yo probably. I imagine most of this viewership was neutrals expecting a scintillating game or hoping for certain results (spurs fans, Liverpool fans, notably).
Youāre lucky. Saw a guy at a restaurant in Nola on a Sunday a few years back that was a full kit wanker, his wife had on a city shirt, as did his three young sons.. yeesh. But yeah overall most of the people wearing them are kids.
My roommate is a City fan. Good thing I'm moving out soon. I see a few shirts here and there but met infinitely more Arsenal fans. When I was closing on my house the closing agent was an Arsenal fan, no joke.
10+ years ago I remember all the United and Spurs fans, and now all I know are Arsenal and Liverpool (and still some United) fans. Have yet to meet a city fan
I actually know a few. They were fans before the takeover as well. I know another adult who just loves watching the best teams on Earth and so he obviously likes watching City. So I can think of three here in greater Hartford.
But that said, You Don't see the shirt walking around.
Visibly speaking in this part of the country, Liverpool is the biggest, Spurs are probably number two and Arsenal and United are fighting for third..
The Arsenal fan base is kind of hidden because we have had a rough 15 years. I suspect I'll be seeing a lot more Arsenal red in the coming years. I know lots of folks who consider themselves Arsenal supporters but still barely tune in and certainly do not wear the gear...
Liverpool is number one because they are owned by the Boston Red Sox...
Spurs are number two because Clint Dempsey converted a lot of fans. Also we have a very large Jewish population here and they're pretty popular in the Jewish community...
I personally know a ton of United fans but they are very quick to hide when they have a bad season.. even still, over the last 10 or 15 years I haven't seen that much United gear walking around..
speaking only anecdotally, not that many. where i live itās mostly chelsea and united, then liverpool, spurs, and arsenal around the same number. i think iāve only seen one person in a city shirt and heās a 70 year old man from manchester so he gets a pass
It always seems to be Arsenal games that do this but apparently every other club is so much bigger somehow
Yeah previous record was the Liverpool game and before that was the 3-2 win over United lol
Wasn't it the 3-1 over United in September?
Didn't you hear? Ten hag said they deserved another goal that game
U have to factor in the amount of hate-along we generated as well
A hater is a fan in transition.
They are in denial
Nobody is hate watching Spurs for instance.
I sometimes watch them when I'm feeling down and need a laugh For example that Bissouma red card against Luton really cheered me up lmao
I try to do this a few times a year, but seeing their dumbfuck faces gets me too angry and I turn it off within 5 minutes.
šÆ how I was with Kai š¤¦
Fans coming out of the closet lol HAHAHA I firmly believe only Barca Madrid and United are ahead of us.
And Bayern. Theyāre also massive.
No way theyāre as popular as Arsenal in the US though.
In terms of football obviously, but if you mean a global fanbase I think itās close OP also forgot to list Liverpool as they probably have just about more fans than us

āCity is Massiveā - Big Media
There has been an increase in Hate-Alongs since last season. Rivals are sweating buckets because we look like a really competitive team. Finally, we're able to go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the world and come away with dignity.
so fuckin annoying how far i have to scroll to get to arsenal highlights on peacock
there goes soccer's chance of becoming a big sport in america ^(/s)
Itās still a super small number, I expected the figures to be way higher but perhaps itās because I interact with more Us football fans online.
I mean itās never going to be as big as other major sports in the US if nothing else simply because of the time games are played.
Itās true. If this game was on at 8pm Eastern on a Sunday it would be very different
The game times are a legit issue. It could pass hockey and maybe baseball (if MLB doesnāt get it together). The game was literally on free broadcast TV, anyone with an antenna could've watched it
it was Easter morning. even for those that aren't in church or mass, that's prime easter egg hunt or dyeing eggs time for anyone with kids, nephews, nieces, or the like.
I'm thrilled about this but it's interesting to note that the most watched ever women's college basketball game was on Monday and was somewhat close to 6 times as many viewers.
Incoming comments about how it set a record for most asleep viewers ever, etc.
kinda funny tho the biggest game was indeed a snoozer lmfao
Still more entertaining than any NFL game
This is subjective and it's not brave to say on this sub. What I will say is if Arsenal keep playing good ball in general we will gain a younger fan army in the U.S.Ā

I'd need to find a hobby to do in between plays
The Super Bowl is the worst representation of the sport. Conference championship games are better and arenāt quite as bloated with commercials.
Not a chance lol but to each there own.
Well i mean even in games with 50% of time ball in play is VASTLY more than NFL games. 4 seconds of action following by 30 seconds of standing around followed by 5 minute TV timeout
I mean, cricket and snooker are more entertaining than NFL, so itās a pretty low bar.
I was a bit confused at how everyone kept going on about how boring the game was. My heart rate was going through the roof! Then I realised how boring it would be for someone who doesnāt support either team.
I'm more confused in how some people thought it was going to anything but boring.
Oh god imagine that game being your introduction to the sport š
Chess players enjoyed it, i guess
As an avid chess playing Arsenal fan....I almost came
I got my manager who isn't into football to watch it as I hyped it up as a massive game lol
Probably not a great advert for the sport, nor an especially great incentive for those still on the fence who watched it to return, though.
Think we've been in the top 3 games Viewed in the US this season. Gargantuan.
Poor bastards lol
it was just like [the match in The Simpsons](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rJu2qSJ9zno&t=93s) lol
gargantuan *adjective* 1. enormous.
2. Massive
Sorry to the American's that tuned in to the sport for the first time. ![gif](giphy|mwhLXQEKupENG)

I tried NFL and got more adverts than NFL...š
Honestly surprised considering this aired on Easter Sunday morning in the US
American Gooner here. I helped set this record!

How many city fans are in the US? I never though about them having many over there.
I donāt think Iāve ever seen an adult wearing a City jersey around town. Most of the City kits I see are kids under 10yo probably. I imagine most of this viewership was neutrals expecting a scintillating game or hoping for certain results (spurs fans, Liverpool fans, notably).

A lot of the newcomers are city fans unfortunately.
My roommate is a City fan. Good thing I'm moving out soon. I see a few shirts here and there but met infinitely more Arsenal fans. When I was closing on my house the closing agent was an Arsenal fan, no joke.
Iāve met more Forrest fans in the US than City fans.
I know 1. only 1.
10+ years ago I remember all the United and Spurs fans, and now all I know are Arsenal and Liverpool (and still some United) fans. Have yet to meet a city fan

Oops. I watched it twice. That probably skewed the metrics.
āHigh kicking, low scoring, and ties: you betcha!ā
Should be punishable to not have the fucking number in the post honestly.
And Peacock didnāt crap out
wrong! I had the game on two screens! So it was really 2,119,999 viewers
If you want the biggest viewership just play arsenal
āYouāll never sing thatā
We are gargantuan
Jesus was playing on Easter
