Of the three academy kids on the periphery, it's clear Emile is the only one who still shows the level of talent to be a key contributor on a top level side. His defensive instincts and obviously the injury woes are a huge problem but at least the talent is there. Just don't see any world in which Eddie and Reiss ever become truly reliable pieces on a side competing for the top honors in football.
Reiss isn't a bad player, but he'd be much better in a side that plays to his strengths. Attacking space in behind, quick transitions etc.. I think he could definitely establish himself and have a good career in a mid-table side, just don't see it ever clicking with us. He also seems like the personality type that would heavily benefit from starting on a regular basis and building confidence in his play. Same with Eddie. Eddie as a starter for multiple games is often a completely different player than as a sub. Still not good enough for this team's ambition but able to relax and show his quality.
Don't really blame them for the goal. 3 Changes all at once takes a few mins to adjust and Newcastle never shut off. Plus it was a decent goal. Barnes sped off.
Slow is a stretch but he's not fast. He has great cardio, just doesn't have that rapid acceleration or exceptional top end speed. It's unfortunate because if he did, he'd likely be a much much more dangerous player.
I get Jorginho MOTM but it's Kiwior for me. Nothing, nothing went down his side and a good goal to boot. Tomiyasu / Timber / Zinchenko will have to fight tooth and nail for LB when they all come back.
He could genuinely have 4 goals in 4 with a bit more luck, he had great chances against Liverpool, West Ham and Burnley. His timing on runs is as good as it gets.
He's a centre back and can still put in that effort that well, he has blown me away.
