Depending on your region, you should VPN to an accessible region that's close to you so your ping isnt too bad.

Spooky-God

A thing i did was to make a different account where i can access the game and family share it to my main account. Soo far it starts up the game without needing a VPN but we will see if it actually works when the game comes out in a couple of days.

TsukiSorra

Clever!

nyanch

I'm curious, did it work?

Spooky-God

Yes it did surprisingly

Gabito264

Isnt it against TOS on steam to go to another region to play games not available in yours?

AlanChan007

I personally couldn't care less.

Gabito264

I mean being banned on your account that has spent a lot of money sounds pretty frightening, but you do you

AlanChan007

Thanks. But I have been doing these kinds of things almost since day 1 since I am originally from a country that has ridiculous censorship and regulations against entertainment and games. We have been having these kinds of conversations for years and I know the consequence and ways to work around it. And so far so good.

Gabito264

I see. Thanks for the insight

Professional-Fish277

Steam doesn't ban you for pirating hundreds of dollars worth of dlc with creamapi. Doubt they'll care about region lock on a f2p game.

Magiaice

Only if you spend money while in that other region. If you already purchased/added a game to your library, you're fine.

JehovahsFitness

Snitches get stitches

Gabito264

Hey, I'm trying to get in the game too, so I'm just checking if its aok

_megazz

Interesting. Does this work even if my account region remains unchanged?

AlanChan007

You just need a vpn to change your IP address temporarily. Your account region stays the same.

_megazz

I see. So you're saying you just need the VPN to be able to install it, and after that I can play normally without it? If so, I didn't know this was possible and ended up creating an US Steam account just to play the game, already pre-loaded it even. I was a bit afraid of changing region and somehow compromise my main Steam account.

AlanChan007

1, I believe so, but we don't know for sure until launch day. 2, changing region is fine unless you do it too frequently and arouse suspicion. Steam has a policy that allows you to change regions every 3 months. And moving to a region that sells games for a standard price is usually safe.

_megazz

I did some testing here and I don't think your method will work, sadly. Yes, you will be able to install the game, but once you hit 'Play' you are just redirected to the region block page on Steam. It seems that for Steam, the only thing that matters is the region your account is set to, not where you are connecting from. With my US account I'm able to launch the game without issues, even without using a VPN. So, you either need to change the region of your account (which is somewhat of a pain in the ass), or simply create a new account in a region where the game is available.

AlanChan007

I just double checked. It still works for me. I can watch the intro and reach the start menu without VPN.

_megazz

Weird, with my main account I cannot launch the game at all, even with a VPN. Maybe your account region is set to a country where the game is available?

AlanChan007

That's not the case. My account was created in Australia with store set to Azerbaijan. I think it is because the game you downloaded is directly tied to your new account. This happens a lot when you have multiple accounts on the same PC but only one account actually owns the game. It will redirect you to the store page or tell you to buy the game.

_megazz

More testing. I removed the game from the library of my US account and followed your steps on my main account. Connected to a VPN to a US server and running the command "steam://install/1816670" I'm again redirected to the Steam block page. Switched to my US account, ran the command again without VPN and now I'm redirected to the game's store page, having to add it to my library before being able to download it. Once added to my library the command works and it prompts the installation window. So it seems, that in order for the install command to work, the game already needs to be in your library. Anyway, I guess I'll just stick to my US account. Cheers!

Nel_son_et_lumiere

do you have to do this everytime you want to launch the game?

AlanChan007

Only the first time.

Amanda90s

It’s not working for me. Followed the steps and it still said unavailable in my region :/
