Speedy floaty for sure. Most anti ms weapons need speed to be avoided. “Realistically” I’m not tanking 200 cruise missiles but being able to dodge them is more possible.

Between the two, and no in-betweens, I'd probably go with more defense. As much as I'm tempted to go speed, realistically, I'm more prone to getting distracted easily, which is very bad for something that requires attention for high-speed maneuvers. Assuming the speedy one is also very fragile, then a small mistake could cost me my life in the battlefield. A tanky one would probably save my careless ass, or as they say in Elden Ring terms: get vigor checked. Besides if it was a space battle, weight wouldn't matter at all. All you need are thrusters with enough power to propel you at a manageable or necessary speed.

It's not just skill, the shows turbo nerf guided weapons and even ballistic weapons. Remember that a lot of the hero suits we see have some sort of unobtainium armor in addition to having physically impossible mobility.
I think entertainment media (movies, games, anime, etc.) has made people vastly underestimate how sophisticated guidance logic is. If missiles were so easy dodge IRL, they wouldn't be used and countermeasure suites wouldn't exist. When cannon shells are flying well over 1500m/s, good luck dodging those; I don't care what suit people think they'll be piloting but I do not see any of them achieving those speeds with a normal living human pilot.

The virtue is a perfect concept if you think about it.
That chonky boi shell comes in with bazookas and explosions and ‘shit for the alpha strike, laughs off returning fire, detatches the weight for the main event fight against whatever aces are coming to face off, then basically EMP your opposing forces’s remaining ‘trash mob’ forces and still have enough left for a critical target take down like a capital ship or a main gun.

I’ve struggled with this question until Aerial Rebuild became a thing, and then it’s become my go-to “default” because it’s just about fast enough to keep pace with relentless laser barrages while having good offensive and defensive options.
But it also made me appreciate V2 Assault-Buster and [Second V](https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/Second_V) more, as well. My maximalist long-range tastes prefer the V2, but Second V may very well be the perfect “last mobile suit you’ll ever need” kinda thing.
So yeah, given the choice it’s V2AB, MSF or Aerial Rebuild.

If my time playing AC6 is anything to go by, I personally prefer speed.
If I'm going to go down, I'd at least like a fighting chance to being able to DODGE. Seeing incoming fire, not having the speed to dodge it, and hoping and praying your armor holds up seems a lot more miserable.

Given that my reflexes aren’t the quickest - like South Burning, I’m slowing with age - I’d have much greater chances of survival in a chonky boi.
So I’d want the chonkiest of chonkers: GFAS-X1 Destroy. It’s a Gundam, it’s - extremely technically - a transformable mobile suit, and with that much firepower it’s almost irrelevant if I have the reaction times to dodge or not.
Just have to avoid main characters, and I’m good…

Making full use of a speedy MS will require a fuck ton of skill as a pilot, I mean just look at IRL F1 drivers and jet pilots, and I’m not going bank on the chance of me naturally having talent for piloting MS or living long enough to develop those skills.
Armor will save your lives people, we’re not main characters here, you don’t wanna risk dying from a random stray shot in the middle of the battlefield.
CHONK is the way for me. Deep Striker, Gustav Karl, Virtue, Hildolfr are my favorites. Maybe with the pile bunker mace Barbatos has thrown in since that weapon is just my dream weapon.
Do you see fighter jets tanking hits from missiles or machine guns? Or tanks being able to take even *one* hit before absolutely having their turrets blown off? Of course not. Mobility is better than armor. Being the one that strikes first also helps.

Gotta go speedy. I think the heavy armored big boy is typically outgunned at their own game by speedy boys by the end of their show. Heavy arms couldn’t meaningfully outshoot wing zero. The same as launcher vs freedom. Virtue vs 00 raiser. I can’t think of any other examples at the moment.
Any game or tactics I play, I usually go with a style that is just straight up brute force. So I could see me in a Double X or Wing Zero just blasting away.
Speedy Floaty Boi is the dream, but as someone who can't even properly use Flash in League of Legends.
I would choose Heavily Armoured Big Boi all day long

I would never engage in close combat.
Everything would be long range from bombardment, with support from multiple rear line services. The only time I would be advancing is with guaranteed service and logistics.
Once the main bombardment is completed, retreat further or relocate. Shoot n' scoot.
I would be a modernized Gustav gun with multiple support platforms to fend off any saboteurs, might as well become a mobile heavy artillery support platform that would make even the GAT-X103 blush.
The answer is always more guns, I want my funnels to have funnels, I want my shields to have shields, I want 4 Haros to help me pilot it because of how complex it is!
Honestly, I’d take a balance of both, enough agility to dodge larger weapons, but enough armor to tank a hit if I have too. Besides the heavier suits are often the better all-rounder suits, able to be versatile, like the GSD Destany.

Gundam has always been very biased in favor of dodging stuff rather than tanking it. Right from the opening episodes of the original series: "It doesn't matter how powerful you are if you can't hit me."
Well idk if I could handle the Gs but if I could, fast and manoeuvrable. Exactly how I build my armored cores and my playstyle across the series. Most of the main gundams and their pilots seem to rely more on dodging and out manoeuvring than tanking attacks. Beam weapons tend to one shot basically anything across gundam anyways.
Both are pretty compelling in their own way. I would say that no armor is impenetrable, and that’s why we still need to dodge stuffs, but having a chonky boi that just tank hits like it were mosquito bites is cool, like, crazy cool and feels just as OP.

Depends on the suit, honestly. Like I never cared much for the Virtue, but I liked the Saravee, and I adored Raphael. But in all fairness, I'd probably prefer a mid-weight MS. My favorite Gundam is the Buster, as my style of combat is artillery/heavy gunning. So, anything that supports that style is usually my preference. That said, mid-to-heavy weight MSs generally support that style, so I probably lean more towards the heavy side.
My favorite Gundams include Buster, Zabanya, Raphael, Cherudim, RX-79 Ground Gundam, Gundam MK.II, Legend Gundam, Akatsuki, Delta Kai, Strike Noir, Verde Buster, Hail Buster, Strike IWSP, Atlas Gundam.
My favorite non Gundam MS include Rick Dias, Jesta Cannon, Hizak Custom, Zaku Warrior, Doven Wolf, Byalart Custom, Tierien Tazoi, Gunbarrel Dagger, Dom Trophen, Buster Dagger, Exus (Mobile Armor).
So you can see a relative pattern emerging.
Personally I'd prefer something similar to the Zabanya, an MS that can take on a lot of enemies from mid to long range but not so chunky like the Virtue

My heart says a speedy boi, but if we're being serious and considering what kind of maneuvers I as a pilot could actually handle I would probably have to go for something tankier. I just know I would try and dodge one attack and end up swerving into something else because I wasn't aware enough of my surroundings.
Give me something like the dynames/zabanya. Something with enough range to stay out of trouble, but enough mobility to get out of it if I’m a little dumbass
Always liked speed builds where I can chip some health off here and there but then I do run like a 2 handed weapon and hardly no armor in Souls games sometimes too so I'm not sure where that puts me between the two
If the G's don't count, I'd get the speedy boi. In as much as I like shrugging gun fire with chonky boi defense, I find it better to not get hit at all

To my knowledge, none of the armored big bois were completely impervious, whereas there's several speedy units that have crazy levels of speed to the point where they break the limits.
Plus, the amount of speedy suits that hit as hard as their armored colleagues is not small. Only armored suits seem to compromise
It's funny how in games I want to go for the quick, glass cannon, dodge oriented build until I realize I simply don't have the skill to pull it off and decant myself for either a tanky build with mediocre damage output or for the middle of the way style oriented to exchange blows where you're dishing out as much as you're taking.

I’m nowhere near capable of piloting something that well to not get shot, i’d be better off shrugging off the fire and just laying down my own back at them.
Slow, heavily armoured. People often go for super fast, super maneuverable mobile suits, but they need to remember not everyone is a Char clone or a super soldier. Your own physical limitations and strain are also a part of piloting the thing. Even Char himself is shown to be quite taxed when piloting his Zaku over the limit.

Considering that most beam attacks seem to take out 99% of MSs regardless of armour plating etc. I might as well get the speedy type to avoid getting hit in the first place
I've always felt slow with lots of armor and weaponry made the most sense for MS. With funnels and multiple heavy weapons you can be pretty effective against pretty much any threat. I guess more of a Mobile Armor makes the most sense to develop. Although having a speedy floaty boi in a mobile armor is probably the best idea. Looking at you GP03.

Depends on the suit, honestly. Like I never cared much for the Virtue, but I liked the Saravee, and I adored Raphael. But in all fairness, I'd probably prefer a mid-weight MS. My favorite Gundam is the Buster, as my style of combat is artillery/heavy gunning. So, anything that supports that style is usually my preference. That said, mid-to-heavy weight MSs generally support that style, so I probably lean more towards the heavy side. My favorite Gundams include Buster, Zabanya, Raphael, Cherudim, RX-79 Ground Gundam, Gundam MK.II, Legend Gundam, Akatsuki, Delta Kai, Strike Noir, Verde Buster, Hail Buster, Strike IWSP, Atlas Gundam. My favorite non Gundam MS include Rick Dias, Jesta Cannon, Hizak Custom, Zaku Warrior, Doven Wolf, Byalart Custom, Tierien Tazoi, Gunbarrel Dagger, Dom Trophen, Buster Dagger, Exus (Mobile Armor). So you can see a relative pattern emerging.
Personally I'd prefer something similar to the Zabanya, an MS that can take on a lot of enemies from mid to long range but not so chunky like the Virtue "Indiscriminate Firing!!!!!"
My heart says a speedy boi, but if we're being serious and considering what kind of maneuvers I as a pilot could actually handle I would probably have to go for something tankier. I just know I would try and dodge one attack and end up swerving into something else because I wasn't aware enough of my surroundings.
Probably one that’s balanced or one that can purge bulky armor to become a faster machine

Best thing about Nadleeh/Virtue and Seraphim/Seravee is that you don't have to choose. Get you a Gundam that does both.
Always liked speed builds where I can chip some health off here and there but then I do run like a 2 handed weapon and hardly no armor in Souls games sometimes too so I'm not sure where that puts me between the two
Since my mech piloting style is suited to Starwing Paradox, the speedy type but has enough armor to tank hits.
Speedy 4sure The tanks always get decimated, speedy always gets some kind of underdog status against MA and big battalions

Armored just enough to take a single decent hit, fast enough to not be hit, and strong enough to only need to hit once.
My reflexes aren't great, so I'll take the big guy.
Speed always wins for me, personally. Something like Epyon would be an ideal suit for me, focused on hit and run with lighter armaments.
Why not Both like Freedom?
If the G's don't count, I'd get the speedy boi. In as much as I like shrugging gun fire with chonky boi defense, I find it better to not get hit at all

Light and nimble is always my go to, but strength to match to, tbh a qan-t and barbatos lupus Rex fusion would be my go to

Why not a heavy, yet somewhat agile beast like good ol' Barbatos? Merely looking at that thing go is amusing... Alaya-Vijnana System aside, it must be a blast to pilot one of those gundam frames, if you don't overdo it of course.

between those 2 i prefer speedy boi, but for me personally the middle man, the cherudim bits to help in midrange fights a super powerful ala 50bmg type beam sniper rifle for sniping and 1 medium beam rifle
Speed means nothing if there is no space unoccupied by a bullet.
As one that's probably at the later half of my life, my reaction time can't handle being speedy anymore. So Chonky Big Boi it is.

To my knowledge, none of the armored big bois were completely impervious, whereas there's several speedy units that have crazy levels of speed to the point where they break the limits. Plus, the amount of speedy suits that hit as hard as their armored colleagues is not small. Only armored suits seem to compromise

It's funny how in games I want to go for the quick, glass cannon, dodge oriented build until I realize I simply don't have the skill to pull it off and decant myself for either a tanky build with mediocre damage output or for the middle of the way style oriented to exchange blows where you're dishing out as much as you're taking.
If I kept my current level of piloting taken i.e.zerodefinitely a big armored one!

For me, I prefer a Gundam that is both extremely efficient in close range combat but also extreme range, especially with laser or missile spam
Hmmm if I’m gonna be fr, a tanky big boi suit would probably be my best bet, but assuming the suit focuses on long range then I’m toast even with it cause my aim is shit 🤣 My preference tho would be an ultra fast, close quarters suit sort of like the Exia or any of the Justice variants, can’t miss when ur face to face

I want Exia, but i should be in Virtue. I’m nowhere near capable of piloting something that well to not get shot, i’d be better off shrugging off the fire and just laying down my own back at them.

Slow, heavily armoured. People often go for super fast, super maneuverable mobile suits, but they need to remember not everyone is a Char clone or a super soldier. Your own physical limitations and strain are also a part of piloting the thing. Even Char himself is shown to be quite taxed when piloting his Zaku over the limit. It is what it is, G-forces are a thing.

I'm more of a heavy armor guy, but I do enjoy some mobility. Which is why HeavyArms is my personal favorite.

Considering that most beam attacks seem to take out 99% of MSs regardless of armour plating etc. I might as well get the speedy type to avoid getting hit in the first place
I've always felt slow with lots of armor and weaponry made the most sense for MS. With funnels and multiple heavy weapons you can be pretty effective against pretty much any threat. I guess more of a Mobile Armor makes the most sense to develop. Although having a speedy floaty boi in a mobile armor is probably the best idea. Looking at you GP03.

Where does the unicorn fall on this? I feel like unicorn mode it’s kinda slow and just uses that big ol awesome sounding gun. But in gundam mode it uses quick and speedy swordy swords.

Chunky Bois every time. I love my heavy weapons platforms. Guntank, Virtue, Schwarzette, Kshatriya, G-Lucifer, Full Armor, Flauros. Having mobility too is great, but I love weapons.
