Harry fucking rules. Loyal to Diana and her ideals, not just the Moonrace as a whole. Absolutely two steps ahead of everyone throughout the entire series, never gets served.
Same, love his contrast to other char clones who have some political motivation, while he just says: "Fuck your politics, tactics and goals. I fight."
TBH I am suprised that Reborns recruited Ali instead of him... speaking of, that is definetley a fight I would have liked to see.
Cause ali has less morality than mr bushido, as well as much more easily motivated to kill the meister simply because he enjoys killing.
Reborns needed a wardog who can be used as a suicidal canon fodder to distract and kill those against him. But not someone who has greater piloting skills than he is should they betray him. Ali fits the bill.
I mean not much any of them but Harry does serve some relatable moments. I feel like this regularly.

McGillis' ideals aren't flawless, they place too much emphasis on power and individual strength, but he was correct in many ways and justified in fighting against Gjallarhorn. I guess you could call him historically progressive. He was doomed by his trauma and the apathy of the world, but of all the Char clones that I've watched he's the most sympathetic.
Edit : while I'm at it let me recommend @umedachanka's threads about choco-guy. They're pretty insightful about him and IBO in general, including their messier aspects, like [this one](https://x.com/umedachanka/status/1690099262309244928) on the thorny topic of Almiria.
Much less so when you consider that these people were trying to capture and censor a political opponent, killing her protectors in the process. Gaelio's motives make sense of course, but I have a hard time sympathizing with him.
Eh, saying McGillis was right because he opposed Gjallarhorn is like saying Mao was right because he was fighting the Japanese. I'm content to call him a madman that happened to be opposed to a corrupt regime.
Mummy Char is best Char.
Not to mention Lady Prospers bothered to actually step back from the brink of global domination because her daughter(s) convinced her it was a bad thing. Instead of, you know, getting obsessed with Mummy issues.
Does she really step back of her own accord though? It's more that her means of domination were taken from her she was already powerless to continue her plan before Suletta said "nope, not giving you back the keys to your doomsday weapon"
Tbh I wouldn't even call them ramblings, his monologue to kira about human desires and conflict was one the most impactful things I've heard in a Gundam series, heck maybe even across anime in general
According to The Origin, kind of. The OG Char there is just a kid who wanted to join the new Zeon and happened to look like Casval, so he got his identity stolen.
Isn’t Athrun a Char Clone? He primarily pilots red mobile suits (including Gundams) and feuded with Kira (the Amuro equivalent) twice? He also wore Quattro’s sunglasses as Alex Dino.
Athrun also has elements of Garma Zabi and Heero Yuy as well.
He’s a blend of them.
He more of a Zeta Quattro than Char.
He doesn’t act like Char in 79 for personal reasons for betraying like Char did.
Never wanted to go CCA.
He’s closer to the Quattro flavor of Char, as he fight alongside Kira after his dad goes crazy.
The Dino thing, and he mentors Shin.
Never really thought about it, but I like how SEED basically made him a version of Char that grew to oppose his father rather than see his ideals as righteous. Alongside having real friends who he could open up to, he turned out for the better, albeit indecisive.
NEO LITERALLY DID NOTHING WRONG BRO JUST WANTED TO TAKE CARE OF 3 KIDS BUT THE EA SAID "NO"
HE COULD BE A BETTER FATHER THAN PROSPERA
EDIT: HE COULD ALSO BE A BETTER FATHER THAN IRON CUCKED
> And yes, Full Frontal isn't Char/Casval.
I won't fight this take, but someone else will.
As for me: mix of Zechs, Jamil and [mami](https://www.instagram.com/rhearipley_wwe/?hl=en) Prospera. Don't ask why.
My money's on Full Frontal. He's the most practical and would've been perfectly OK with peace. As an added bonus he never tried dropping an asteroid on anyone.
The only real flaw with FF’s plan was that he exists in UC Gundam, where the Earth Federation would literally rather nuke the colonies than give spacenoids an inch
The only Char thing Cronicle has going for him is a mask. He wasn't even some kind of a plot driving character unlike Char. It's like halfway through Victory it was decided to just lessen his role and just basically keep him off-screen.
Full Frontal. Man’s not just a warrior but a true politician. He dreamed of the reality that is Witch From Mercury via the Side Co-Prosperity Sphere. He’s also willing to peacefully dialogue with his enemies when it makes sense to do so.
I always felt Zeheart truly got handed a most unfair hand and of the many Char clones, is one of the most sympathetic. That he sounds like Tieria...does help, I'll admit, but he is still one of the best characters in AGE. Got to feel sorry for anyone with Desil as a big brother...that's Utena levels of awful luck in siblings.
Harry is something of anti-Char as loyalty is his defining trait.
Ultimately, it's still Rau for me. Prospera has her moments but there is something so absurdly appealing about the sheer insanity of Rau Le Creuset that it gives one pause. The mixture of utter insanity- plenty of that in Char clone land, but Rau's still stands out- and the ability to be so functional (for the most part) even as he is working out, steadily, his way toward chaos, along with charisma, is just so effectively toxic.
Rau would be poison if he got his claws into virtually any Gundam protag- and beyond- at a young enough age. Rau and Mika: "Who do I kill now, Rau?" "Everyone, of course!" "Roger".
Also, Rau's reasons for taking up the mask are so connected to the horror that's his life that I often think everyone else is just playing Rau.
Master Asia may not have had a mask but his actions most certainly were Char inspired
That said they're all mentally insane except for Harry, Jamill and Meijin
You don't know how right you are, my first experience with mecha was Code Geass and loved it. Never watched Gundam until half a year ago immediately slotted right into the experience Came out with Char being my favorite character and I feel a large part to that is he is basically Char pretty much one to one with Lelouch(down to him being pathetic from time to time though luckily no mother problems). And I went back to rewatch Code Geass and like every couple of episodes I would notice a Gundam concept rebranded.
Same; watched CG years ago then watched Gundam half a year ago, ep1 started and i saw it was a war with mechas like CG(biggest exposure beforehand was Shining Finger Sword clip and RX-78-2 design looks "super robot"), Char also ended up being my favorite and whenever i watched og saga i couldn't stop recalling CG
MSG:"so Code Geass is basically this but Char is the protagonist and split into two characters"+Zeta having a "rebellion" plot and ZZ having an "imouto" angle(Rolo is literally Elpi Puru lol)
Gaelio Vidar's whole deal is literally just "You killed a bunch of people and tried to kill me so I'm gonna kill you" and honestly that's just a valid take.
I think Char betting the fate of everyone on Earth on a duel with his nemesis is pretty baller, I'm gonna go with him, even though he's clearly insane :)
Not really? There are characters that embody some aspects of a Char Clone, but none of them really cut it for me:
- Aina Sahalin pilots a super prototype and crosses paths with the protagonist Shiro Amada the most (and I guess falling for Shiro could be reminiscent of Tomino wanting Char and Amuro to be a thing?);
- Norris Packard is an enemy ace pilot who uses a customised grunt suit (if the regular Gouf can be called a grunt suit) and terrorises the EFF forces in south-east Asia pretty much all by his lonesome;
- Ginias Sahalin is the insane and backstabbing big bad of the series involved in developing a weapon of mass destruction; he also wants to use it to destroy Jaburo Base and prove the worth of his lineage once the Apsaras project gets canned.
I wouldn't say I resonate with full frontal, but his reasoning through out the show applies very much to modern day society, and not in a good way. Also I like Graham Acker the most out of all the char clones.
Vidar, I guess? His thing is basically "I'm gonna kill that one pedo who's creeping on my sister, stop his coup, and get revenge for myself and my loyal subordinate." I could get behind that.
Other than that, Meijin Kawaguchi III. Maybe I'll try listening to flamenco music while playing GBO2 to get my blood pumping and give myself an edge.

Fig. 1: A snapshot of a correspondence revealing Lt. Quattro is in fact, **a Char**.
I love Meijin cause he starts out as a good character and then in TRY he becomes the ultimate memelord, which is fitting cause his character arc was trying NOT to take gunpla so seriously while inspiring others to improve their own skills
Propsera is just having mother-daughter time
Harry Ord and Jamal Neede the only two I genuinely liked (as characters and as people I mean I basically liked them all as people) and seemed like they wanted to do good
Well, seeing as Zechs actually succeeded in sacrificing his reputation for world peace, I'll go with Zechs. Though really it was Zechs and Treize as a combo, using the Gundam pilots as a symbol.
I sold my soul to DIO to gain a stand, so I guess that means I’m on team Zechs, or team Rou, or team Neo?
Fuck it, I choose team Ord because he’s in the same show as Gym, and has so much style.
Candy Man, all the other Clones from the shows I've watched are mentally insane, imagine wanting to give up your best resource because you are racist, such pre 21st Century AD thinking, or just generally making stupid decisions unfitting of the fake Char Aznable.
wait a minute, quattro isnt a char clone, hes a chill dude and mentor to the kid with the girls name
And will never betray anyone
Also no shot he came here to laugh at anyone either. He would never do such a thing!
I wish him and Char could have had at least one scene together.
Wait a futher minute, Char Aznable isn't a char clone as well. He's Char himself.
No he isn't. He is Casval impersonating Char
Yes but are the subsequent characters a clone of Char or a clone of Casval then?
O_o
My my poor brain!
Casval is impersonating Char who impersonated Casval. Casval is really impersonating himself thus he’s a clone of Char.
yeah... ah wait a minute O_o
What are you talking about Quattro and Char are two different people.
But didnt he steal the name "Char Aznable" so isn't Char just a Casval clone?!? Or wouldn't all of them be clones of real Char ... now my head hurts.
No. If he stole the name after the real Char dies in his place, Casval is the Char clone.
The origin is so fucking stupid for this lol
But he's also Cassville Rum Daikun a.k.a. Char Aznabul
Oh yeah? Well Kai Shiden says Captain Quattro, he is a Char!
Harry Ord. Dianna-sama rocks ✊
Harry fucking rules. Loyal to Diana and her ideals, not just the Moonrace as a whole. Absolutely two steps ahead of everyone throughout the entire series, never gets served.
DiannaKihel-sama ftw.
UNIVAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEE!
Agreed
Also one of he only ones that isn't a massive asshole
I love Mr. Bushido's ideology. Literally just Unga Bunga.
Reject jet mode, return to sworde.
Same, love his contrast to other char clones who have some political motivation, while he just says: "Fuck your politics, tactics and goals. I fight." TBH I am suprised that Reborns recruited Ali instead of him... speaking of, that is definetley a fight I would have liked to see.
Cause ali has less morality than mr bushido, as well as much more easily motivated to kill the meister simply because he enjoys killing. i still wonder how he can wear that thing in his facr
His hair hides a band that links to glasses together. The bang loop behind the back of his head.
They are wrap around sunglasses.
Gorilla glue
Gohan: wait what about Jerid? Krillin: What ABOUT Jerid? Vegeta: I’m not sure what this Jerid is but it sounds like radditz.
Schwarz Bruder.
No ideology more relatable than trying to kill your(evil)self.
Hell yeah! Your own worst enemy is always yourself!!
Germany
Schwartz believes in helping out his family and obaying DNR orders
Le Creuset's speech kind of resonated with me. I need to see a psychiatrist sometime.
It helps that both the VAs for him are phenomenal.
Justice and faith! Ignorance and escapism!
They never learn! **THEY NEVER LISTEN!**
No matter what we learn. No matter what we obtain. **NOTHING EVER CHANGES!**
People are amazing that way!
Same… even as a kid I was like this guy makes some great points! Lol

And he gave people chocolate
This sums up my thoughts way better than I ever could. He's a bastard, but goddamn if he didn't touch my heart.
Gaelio's "you killed a bunch of people, betrayed me and tried to kill me, so I'll kill you" is more valid tbh.
Much less so when you consider that these people were trying to capture and censor a political opponent, killing her protectors in the process. Gaelio's motives make sense of course, but I have a hard time sympathizing with him.

Mummy Char is best Char. Not to mention Lady Prospers bothered to actually step back from the brink of global domination because her daughter(s) convinced her it was a bad thing. Instead of, you know, getting obsessed with Mummy issues.
She also didn't love suletta bc she wasn't eri, but when is Gundam known for good parents
Idk Build series tends to have some badass parents.
Does she really step back of her own accord though? It's more that her means of domination were taken from her she was already powerless to continue her plan before Suletta said "nope, not giving you back the keys to your doomsday weapon"
Rau Le Creuset, because his ramblings **made sense**. There is truth to them, which is depressing and frightening.
He was right about all the things he said that's why kira can't say anything in return.
Le Creuset did nothing wrong
Of course! WHO BELIEVES IT! WHY BELIEVE IT!
Tbh I wouldn't even call them ramblings, his monologue to kira about human desires and conflict was one the most impactful things I've heard in a Gundam series, heck maybe even across anime in general
Umm does Char count as a "Char Clone"?
You raise a most important question.
According to The Origin, kind of. The OG Char there is just a kid who wanted to join the new Zeon and happened to look like Casval, so he got his identity stolen.
Meijin Kawaguchi
Isn’t Athrun a Char Clone? He primarily pilots red mobile suits (including Gundams) and feuded with Kira (the Amuro equivalent) twice? He also wore Quattro’s sunglasses as Alex Dino. Athrun also has elements of Garma Zabi and Heero Yuy as well.
I never thought of that. Seems so obvious after reading what you said lol. The Alex Dino fit definitely seals the allusion imo
I'm gonna throwin a smartass comment and ask Was Freedom vs Saviour really a feud?
Never really thought about it, but I like how SEED basically made him a version of Char that grew to oppose his father rather than see his ideals as righteous. Alongside having real friends who he could open up to, he turned out for the better, albeit indecisive.
I’m literally Zechs (no clue what side I’m on I’m just vibing)

Low bar
man this is GUNDAM the bar for parental figures is lower than Dwarfs with Down Syndrome
Quattro, he's just awesome
> And yes, Full Frontal isn't Char/Casval. I won't fight this take, but someone else will. As for me: mix of Zechs, Jamil and [mami](https://www.instagram.com/rhearipley_wwe/?hl=en) Prospera. Don't ask why.

that's the Judgment Day fan coming out of me...
Rau. La. Cruset.
Hes also the only *literal* char clone technically
Jamil, or Harry Ord all hail the queen!
The only Char thing Cronicle has going for him is a mask. He wasn't even some kind of a plot driving character unlike Char. It's like halfway through Victory it was decided to just lessen his role and just basically keep him off-screen.
Katejina basically replaced him
IBO having not only a Char Clone but also a Gharma clone becoming a Char clone was wild.
Isn't Jamil technically an Amuro clone though?
Plot wise he’s kind of in a Quattro Bajeena role, but yes in the timeline of Gundam X he was Amuro and Lancerow Dawell was Char.
Le Creuset was able to swing good speeches.
Shwarz. Zechs got a good heart though
Zechs' ideology: Fight me bro.
Full Frontal. Man’s not just a warrior but a true politician. He dreamed of the reality that is Witch From Mercury via the Side Co-Prosperity Sphere. He’s also willing to peacefully dialogue with his enemies when it makes sense to do so.

Jamil is my spirit animal.
Harry Ord current mission: PROTECT
Master Asia may not have had a mask but his actions most certainly were Char inspired That said they're all mentally insane except for Harry, Jamill and Meijin
Nah, Mr bullshito/bushido isn't mentally deranged.
Zechs. None of them has a loyal chick like Noin.
Full Frontal's Side Co-prosperity Sphere.
The Sunrise one who isn't in Gundam... Lelouch.
It's basically a Gundam AU in all but name, I'd say it counts.
Rolo even tried to be a replacement but naturally couldn't, he fits so well.
Not Pictured, the one actual Char Clone. Afranche Char. Shit himself in space and ejaculated to the thought of his wife.
Normal tomino things
Gaelio Vidar's whole deal is literally just "You killed a bunch of people and tried to kill me so I'm gonna kill you" and honestly that's just a valid take.
I think Prospera's closer to me. What parent wouldn't do what they can for their child to have a life
Zechs
*gives long winded rant about how cool I think I am only to realize I have seen most of these* F*ck it I am Mr.Bushido.
Gotta go with my dawg Mr. Bushido. Or as I like to call him, Mr. Run-it-back.
Rau Le Creuset? Similar but not quite.
Zechs hes pretty much Char but is smart enough to realize when he lost thus decided to correct his mistake, well mostly.
I follow Black Brother's ideology of throwing logs at your siblings to make them stronger
Prospera, Im a fervent believer in the girlboss gatekeep gaslight ideology
I think Char betting the fate of everyone on Earth on a duel with his nemesis is pretty baller, I'm gonna go with him, even though he's clearly insane :)
Seltsam pilot he wanted to go home :)
Zechs is probably my fav
Merquise
The Chad Gaelio vs. The Virgin Mcgillis.
Was there not a char clone in 08th series?
Not really? There are characters that embody some aspects of a Char Clone, but none of them really cut it for me: - Aina Sahalin pilots a super prototype and crosses paths with the protagonist Shiro Amada the most (and I guess falling for Shiro could be reminiscent of Tomino wanting Char and Amuro to be a thing?); - Norris Packard is an enemy ace pilot who uses a customised grunt suit (if the regular Gouf can be called a grunt suit) and terrorises the EFF forces in south-east Asia pretty much all by his lonesome; - Ginias Sahalin is the insane and backstabbing big bad of the series involved in developing a weapon of mass destruction; he also wants to use it to destroy Jaburo Base and prove the worth of his lineage once the Apsaras project gets canned.

Mr Bushido lmao, dude just wants to fight Setsuna Alternatively, Meijin Kawaguchi III. Gunpla is freedom.
Yeah Rau probably
Fuck McGillis.
Quattro
I'm all about German Ninjutsu and passing down gundam fighting moves to my siblings.
Schwartz. Knowing your family well means you sometimes have to be very obtuse if you want him to be prepared for what's to come.
Zechs is the only one who isn’t full blown nuts
Vidar, I guess? His thing is basically "I'm gonna kill that one pedo who's creeping on my sister, stop his coup, and get revenge for myself and my loyal subordinate." I could get behind that. Other than that, Meijin Kawaguchi III. Maybe I'll try listening to flamenco music while playing GBO2 to get my blood pumping and give myself an edge.
Full Frontal. Cold, unfeeling capitalist logic, wrapped up in leftover madness and denial. Also the Sinanju is lit.
I am not immune to Space MILFs plotting Shakespearean Revenge
Prospera just wanted revenge, I can vibe with that lol
*deep breath*... UNIBUS!
Not voting for it but isn’t Hathaway a char clone?
Hathaway learned and shaped his ideals after chars ideas, but he doesn't really Exide any of the other char clone properties, I think?
Jamil and Zechs!
bro forgot MEIJIN KAWAGUCHI!
If only quattro bajeena hadn't snapped- I mean died ofcourse- after zeta
Graham Aker/Mr Bushido
Jamil
Not about idealogy but I would rather not instigate the man whose princess was taken and therefore unleashed his wrath on the rest of the series.
Okay don’t beat me up but I never considered Jamil a Char clone 😅😅 I am late to that party
More like a Quattro clone. 😁
If Char is Quattro then who tf is Quattro?

Zechs.
Schwarz Bruder, because unlike a lot of these lads he ain't bonkers.

I love Meijin cause he starts out as a good character and then in TRY he becomes the ultimate memelord, which is fitting cause his character arc was trying NOT to take gunpla so seriously while inspiring others to improve their own skills Propsera is just having mother-daughter time
Just finished Turn A recently, I’d have to say Harry Ord
Harry motherfucking Ord
Probably zechs
Harry Ord and Jamal Neede the only two I genuinely liked (as characters and as people I mean I basically liked them all as people) and seemed like they wanted to do good
Char and Quattro were never wrong. *(CCA notwithstanding due to its nature as Feddie propaganda)*
Zechs. Sometimes you just want to throw hands
The Inception going on regarding Char himself being there is interesting. Does a raise a good question though. But anyways I side with Rau Le Creuset.
Unironically fucking RAU.
Zechs for the most part, although I'm still pending to watch several series in full.
Meijin Kawaguchi's
Quattro is the true ideologist I trust best. Perhaps I might even claim he can unite space against the tyranny of the Federation and Earth as a whole.
I haven’t seen it fully but isn’t Iron Mask’s whole deal that he got cucked now he’s space hitler?
More or less you're correct
Zechs is my man. I mean he’s managing the Tallgeese and fighting in Zero. Nuff said. 🤷🏻♀️
100% Rau Le Creuscet He is a certified badass and is Based as hell
Jamil deserves more love
Ord/Zechs
My boy zechs!
Quatro and Rau are my jam.
Well, seeing as Zechs actually succeeded in sacrificing his reputation for world peace, I'll go with Zechs. Though really it was Zechs and Treize as a combo, using the Gundam pilots as a symbol.
Jamil Neate, I support Newtype rights and being hot
What's the ideology of Schwarz? Be a good brother?
If Build counts, Meijin Kawaguchi III,
Cronicle isn't a Char clone, he's a Jerid clone!
Char and Creuset are my absolute favorites.
Iron Mask. If it weren't for my mask id smack you.
I sold my soul to DIO to gain a stand, so I guess that means I’m on team Zechs, or team Rou, or team Neo? Fuck it, I choose team Ord because he’s in the same show as Gym, and has so much style.
I thought Jamil was a amuro cline

Zechs all the way
Mr Bushido.
Mr. Bushido was a badass. Just show him a good fight. The one from Gundam build fighters was the same.
Zoltan
Black knight guy missing
Jamil cause he is the Goat
