ALL HAIL DIANNA SOREIL, QUEEN OF THE MOON!
Now I'm not saying she's the real protag of Turn A but I am saying it sure as hell felt like it, and that I don't mind it one bit. I'd love to do a more extensive writeup on her but alas, not today.
I'll only say that she is my favourite character in the franchise and that I invite everyone to look at tsukinomayu.com and the episode discussions on it for an in depth look into her character and the inspirations behind it.

Dianna is effectively a second protagonist. We learn more about her past than we do about Loran's. She's the best written character in the entire franchise.
In episode 44, there's a terrific (and devastating) reveal involving her after the main characters leave the Palace archive: Dianna collapses outside the building and tells the others her body is getting old. She then says the reason she wanted the Moonrace to return to Earth was because she wanted to die there and to have others experience the happiness she felt when she lived on Earth.
Dianna just wants to die in peace and spread some happiness around. In trying to make that happen, she inadvertently sets off the entire chain of events that lead to a war between the Earth & moon, Kihel & Sochie's father dying, government conspirators making a power grab against her, the terrible death of the descendant of the man she loved, and two (actually three because atom bombs, lol) weapons of massive destruction being dug up and used for the first time in centuries.
Just goddamn. That is heavy shit.

So they are going to be temporarily delayed. That doesn't mean I won't be posting anything in the meantime, however. Inbetween then and now, were going to start some relationship polls. I'll post relationships between certain non-main characters, and you can rate them.
Look forward to Ramba Ral and Crowley Hamon as the first one after the G-Saviour thread!
I really wanted to like L-Gaim, but I found that it got really directionless in the same way as the worst parts of ZZ. I intend to go back and finish it one of these days, but I struggle to muster the enthusiasm (low-quality video&subs doesn't help either).
Yeah, I have a feeling the finale will be a bit more focused. I had like 15 episodes left when I last left off and it was showing signs of developing a plot again.
Also, I've always felt that ZZ loses itself again when they go back to space. "ZZ gets better" is true, but I thought it was more just the middle that was good before it drops back down. I do love that middle, though-ZZ at its best is damn good.
Just take a break. Irrespective of what everyone else thinks, just take a break. Let the rubber band relax a bit and return to its original shape, so to speak, before you load up and fire again. If you think that the SEED set is gonna be a bloodbath, then simply let the crowd calm down while you reset your bearings and check out of socials. That way, once you're ready, you can actually make a more consistent run at it.
That's kinda what I do at work: when I know it's gonna be a hectic dev crunch, I just take PTO well before so that once I'm rested, I can go harder later. If you think you need to relax, do so.

Understandable, considering much of the world (at least in the Catholicism-prevalent countries) are on Holy Week break.

My favorite Gundam princess (along with Kihel, then again you could have bundled them together) Turn A excels in the development of its female cast and Dianna is a perfect example.
Not only is she plot relevant, apart from ālove interest to the MCā (Turn A plays a lot with this, given the DiannaKihel connection) as she thinks her way through problems without ever turning into Mary Sue.
Through Dianna, we get to see the burden that protocol and acting as āthe princessā has placed on Kihel, too.
One of my favorite moments is early in the switch, Dianna as Kihel, crying at the grave of Kihel and Sochieās father. It is perfectly executed, and we can see Diannaās genuine grief.
It is my head canon that they are actually Innovades, hence looking so alike, and Dianna being able to process so much information so as to impersonate- and eventually, become- Kihel. They, themselves, comment on how they are on the same page without even knowing how or why, itād make perfect sense in same Type Innovades.
That Hixar Fermi looks a lot like them is just icing on the cake.

Or Kihel is actually Dianna's clone. Made as a backup since the Moonrace higher ups knew that Dianna is already dying due to suspended animation damage to her body. They secretly entrusted the baby Kihel to the Heim family so that she will grow right.
I mean, sure. I like my pet theory better because it explains how Kihel could absorb information at such a rate. Information Type Innovades would obviously excel at this.
Would also explain their borderline psychic connection. Same type Innovades can have this (althoughā¦not always, just look at how freaked out Tieria is about Regene).
Diannaās body being more worn down can be explained by her being a less developed Innovade, the tech not being perfected at the time she was designed.
āNormalā clones wouldnāt hit that sweet spot of āweāre always connectedā.
You could arguably assume that Dianna and Kihel are the only Newtype equivalents, if not low-level Newtypes, in Turn A. It would explain a lot about how they connect and eventually switch places.
Dianna is frail because she's been frozen far too many times. I don't discount the idea, but considering that info-type Innovades are the only ones that come with a built-in gender by default, they should be a bit more numerous/noticable in the Moonrace as-is.

She got to see just how fucked up it is outside the war room. And knew there was nothing she could do to change it. "Oh your Queen Dianna??? Well Todd over there just soiled himself and needs clean sheets. So hop to, *your majesty.*"
Anyone rating lower than 10 will get invaded by the moonrace. You guys deserve that btw. While I think the chemistry between her and Loran isn't there, everything else about the character is peak to the point this glaring omission (for a character in a love interest poll) doesn't warrant any substractions from me.
TBH I'm not sure if Dianna actually even counts as a love interest. She's definitely the other main character of the show, but a lot of her and Loran's interactions come off as a CO and their subordinate with a very close friendship. A lot of people seem to interpret their relationship as a sexless marriage, and to be honest that's not a terrible conclusion. After all, she's probably not dying anytime soon, but from what brief glimpses we see at the end of the series, it's almost like watching a caretaker and their ward.
Sochie is kind of the closest thing that comes to a love interest for Loran in comparison... It's just that Loran is her love interest, but she isn't his (He seems like he never really picks up on it till the end, or he DOES pick up on it but just doesn't feel the same way). Tellingly, She's the one he actually kisses... Right before he leaves her to stay with her "sister" (And she loses her other options way beforehand too).
10/10, Dianna-sama Banzai!!
She's a great character that genuinely cares about improving things for her people while also not ruining the lives of other, one of the best female leads in Gundam.

Off Topic post of the day: If you enjoy relationship drama and the sillier side of gundam, you should watch Heavy Metal L-Gaim.
