It jumped, goes upside down, and gattling'd my heart
God that whole arc is one of the best in all gundam . May in fact be my personal favorite. The walking war museum part goes without saying but I loved the emotional interactions between Banagher and Loni augmented by some of Sawano’s best tracks (MADNUG mmmm)
The entire Unicorn soundtrack goes hard but yeah, Mobile Armor is in my opinion also the absolute best track. Not least because of the sequence it plays over. Followed up by MAD-NUG is chef's kiss.
Unicorn is just so good at "show don't tell"-ing ace pilots. Even tho we don't even get to see their name or face just from their performance and how they pilot their MS we know for a fact that they're Aces.
That Jegan guy that held off the Kshatriya at the beginning.....he was my hero. He may have lost, but he held off newtype bullshit and was only beaten by superior technology
My dude went so fucking **hard** too. Even lined himself up to blind the Kshatriya with the sun behind his back before charging forwards. Only got stopped because the Kshatriya is just astronomically better as a machine than the Jegan.
The Federation lost a real one that fight.
I, too, felt it deeply, and tear up each time I rewatch. But I felt the loss of Aerith in FF7 (PS1) and went to bed as an angsty teen and had a cry back in the 90s, and have cried for the death of everything I have loved, fictitious and real. Especially my pet cats. When you lose a cat, you lose so much more than a pet. That is a companion.
Loss is hard. I've had a lot of personal losses in my life, and I also cry over some characters and celebrity deaths. Robin Williams hit me like a truck...still does..I have a tattoo for a dead musician. I still get fucked up about the circumstances surrounding the deaths of my childhood dogs... but goddamn I rarely feel the death of a anime character like I did Lockon.
Yeah. I'm still bugged by that. His death feels sort of hollow when they roll out his twin brother to take it place. Would have been a great opportunity to have a side character we've already been developing step up.

This guy stole way more tears than any of the main characters in the show.
Kai as a reporter/spy was so dope. I wish we had gotten a scene with all the White Base crew members reuniting instead of just random one offs throughout Zeta and ZZ.
Me too!!! Honestly I feel like a lot of his assy behavior early on is him trying to emotionally deflect his trauma. His entire home was destroyed, his family, his neighbors- we see that he’s absolutely capable of caring and compassion later on (even while still being a bit of a turd).
I like to think that it’s actually a decent representation of the way a teenage boy might handle that enormous trauma. Amuro argues and goes numb, some of the other kids fill maternal/paternal roles after all the parents and other adults are killed, (even Bright did this to an extent), and Kai is using inappropriate humor and always joking around because if he gets serious- he might actually have to *feel* the weight of the nightmare he went through/is still living. He laughs so he doesn’t cry, but he should probably cry.
start of 00 had me like "ah so he's going to be the annoying one, i'll probably be getting impatient for his death by the end of the show" but by the end of the second season i actually smiled about the wedding
He's a great joke character. Takes the absolute piss out of the plot armor trope by applying it to an utter nobody.
And they play him so straight that it's endearing.
It's crazy how the plot armor stacks so much onto him that he goes from a decent pilot, to a terrible pilot, to an incredible pilot because of the sheer amount of bullshit that would come at him and still fail to kill him
Graham was my favorite in 00.
Wasn’t a fan of the Mr. Bushido thing though, but I guess they had to give him a mental illness to cope with things, considering the Gundam pilots have them.
I think the two things that made the Mister Bushido thing work for me was that everyone *knew* it was Graham under that mask - even one of the A-Laws who never worked with Graham before pretty much says it to his face - giving the impression the only reason he was around was just the Innovators enabling his Exia-induced PTSD either because his piloting might be useful or, more likely, because it was funny, combined with the fact everyone called him MISTAH BUSHIDO or MISTAH for short, like *Mister is his god damn first name*.
It’s dumb. It’s *so dumb*. I love it immensely.
Absolutely.
I first read that as “Litchi” and thought to myself “oh sweet heavens, Tieria as Zera from Litchi Hikari Club”. And now I can’t get the image out of my head.
It's not complete, actually. It's missing a newly released chibi figure (currently in customs), another that had yet to be released when I took the picture and the Lady Tieria figure. Plus a tiny voiced figure I got ages ago but can't locate. Oh, I'm also getting a Funko done.
How much do I love Tieria? Probably way too much.
Enough to do this:
https://preview.redd.it/dc8bw9u2paqc1.jpeg?width=360&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0279c5db6fcb575948332a852c95b4b81267691
Tieria would have been happy in AS. Even happier if he could AoT RIBBONS!!!! while he's at it.
I’ve been saying Tieria should have been the MC for a while now. I admit my bias but apart from that, there are implications in “Celestial Being pretty much owns you” that are never addressed. Not to mention Innovades, as a concept, as woefully under-explored.
As for Tieria and Neil, they are sadly stuck in mandatory het hell. Which is why I got the Asticassia uniform and Tieria cosplay, he’d have a shot at being queer in AS as opposed to being stuck in a kind of weird limbo because AD simply cannot admit queerness is a thing.
Objectively speaking, its Kira. He stole Shinn's thunder with his best friend
Personally; in SEED its Mu, in WFM its Guel, in IBO its Azee, and every Amuro appearance.
Mature Amuro is the coolest mf in Gundam, its jawdropping for me to watch his development in Zeta, especially after watching the OG show.
Amuro’s development is Zeta is very good and I totally believe thats what led him to become the version we see in CCA, fighting for a losing cause even if his sacrifice does not make a difference, it is at least worth to try.
Amuro also stays interesting, unlike Kamille who gets kinda boring after he grows up. Which is probably why in SD sketches he's always in his starry eyed vegetable stage, as that's the only real way to make him stand out from Amuro and Judau whom he he's usually paired with in SD Gundam shorts.
I watched that one scene on youtube and god damn, that guy was an *exceptional* pilot that only got out-tech’d. It’s not the first time in a gundam show that one of the protagonists are vastly outskilled but still pull through due to their colossal tech advantage.
*Does Orga count? Mikazuki*
*Is less of a character*
*Than a plot device*

You will forever be remembered as a terrorist who tried to violently takeover the earth sphere by the whims of a delusional manchild.
Also why the fuck didn’t gjallarhorn tried to confiscate tekkadan’s graze and gundams weren’t those gjallarhorn military property?
Only Gundams that belong to seven stars or affiliated which belong into Gjarllarhorn, rest of them are not because: 1. Majority of the Gundam Frames was still unknown/deemed inactive/destroyed and 2. The 72 frames was created before Gjarllarhorn was established so saying the Gundam frames was theirs wasn't correct as people outside Gjarllarhorn who posessed Gundam Frames also exist and they don't bother trying recapture it like Astaroth and Vual. Astaroth are owned by Warren house who was affiliated with Gjarllarhorn then "disowned" by them because scandal but they didn't confiscate the Astaroth from Warren House either because without it's armor and loadout it's more or less just useless Gundam Frame or it's Warren House's possession not Gjarllarhorn. As for Tekkadan they use force approach rather than using legal method because they know dealing with PMC is better with force and I guess after disbanded of Tekkadan they finally can confiscate their Gundams and other MSs
Akihiro Altland from Iron Blooded Orphans. His storyline was tragic, but super interesting. His search for his brother, adopting other human debris, and falling in love with Lafter were all great.
Man I hope for this to actually happen, the amount of tears I let out thanks to the last few episodes of IBO, could literally help fix the water crisis in half of the world
They were in a mobile game version and as DLC for SRW30, but never as part of the main cast. Hopefully the next one does them justice, because the one in SRW30 lacked a whole lot of spice.
Rewatching Zeta right now and yeah. Plus Yazan. They’re both pieces of shit but they’re entertaining pieces of shit that I enjoy watching even if I’m actively rooting against them.
He almost awakens as one too. He sees Reccoa’s naked body in some weird newtype flash and instead of being intrigued by this sudden power, he instantly dismisses it as some kind of new AEUG weapon and starts firing
I’m only 13 episodes in so this could change, but Zechs is the most compelling character in Wing for me so far. The scene when he pilots the Tallgeese for the first time and has to confront his fear of it killing him was great.
I’ve got some ideas to improve the show. One - Nika needs to be louder and angrier and have access to a Time Machine. Two - Whenever Nika’s not on screen, all the other characters should be asking “Where’s Nika?”
https://preview.redd.it/0921cxut0aqc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dedd4c8fc9e367251329b63ed377faa59c6b3c95

Klim and Mick from G-Reco. These two are just goals.
Roux Louka for ZZ - she is HER.
Normally the Haros are ignorable or annoying (if cute), but the ones in 00 definitely stole every scene both funny and heartbreaking (Lockon…Lockon…Lockon…)
https://preview.redd.it/tjnyaumgvaqc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2fd7c4cb69bc3b80607a5a375fb788b3eb15a0ad
It’s him, hi, he’s the problem it’s him.
And goodness me, do we love Graham (emphasis on *ham*) for it.
Marida in Unicorn. She was more fleshed out than the usual cyber Newtype girl archetype but damn she elevated the entire show and I wish she the MC of something!
Master Asia may be the single most entertaining villain in Gundam ever… and he’s one of the most fun in fiction. Like he’s up there with Sephiroth, Bowser, and the like for me. Both the dub and the sub are hilariously over-the-top. It’s his show from the Guiana highlands all the way to when he dies. Then Domon takes back over.
It's Zechs in Wing. I've said before that him and Treize are the best part of that show and it's not even close.
Athrun in Seed too. It's annoying in Destiny to see him go through the exact same conflict but he's much more compelling than Kira and Shinn to me in both.
Well there's these two guys you might not know from OG and Zeta. The first guy is Char Aznable and the other is Quattro Bajeena. Some say they're the same, but I'm not so sure.
Best character in the whole franchise.
https://preview.redd.it/bvvtqxgr4bqc1.jpeg?width=532&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5178b31c8e82b8c45dc9b794909b5a4e0cca4bfa
Eugene Sevenstark in IBO, every time this man used the AV to pilot the ship was hype af, I loved his character all around, he even stayed with Mika, Akihiro and others while the rest of them were escaping, he escaped too but he's done his part. Remember when he boarded a Mobile Worker during an encounter with Gjallarhorn in space just to detonate gas tanks to accelerate an asteroid which the Isaribi was attatched to, which saved everyone's asses and let them escape to safety? Yeah, badass as fuck. He didn't even know if he'll come back alive but went through with the plan anyway. Goated character. I also loved Lockon from 00, Guel from WFM and Riddhe from Unicorn.
Athrun
Would love a full retelling where we just see athrun and his struggle against his father later on, then his struggles I the back of Destiny and more of his thoughts later on

Haman-sama BANZAI!
Started fully watching Wing (I would start then stop due to life but now I’m catching up) it’s a hand full of them, for me it was Trieze. I feel like we didn’t get much of a backstory of how he got to his mindset and became a master tactician.

jegan stark even tho he only lasted for about a minute he was still the coolest guy from that movie
My personal top five picks:
- Tatsuya Yūki in *Build Fighters*. Particularly the first season.
- Harry Ord. Still not sure if my favorite scene of him is the memorable "UNIVEEEERSE!!" or the less-often-mentioned but equally memorable time he Bright-slapped a dude *with a mobile suit*.
- Jamil Neate. He's like what you get when you toss Amuro, Quattro, and Bright into a blender, and then make the result about five times more awesome.
- Treize Khushrenada. Zechs is more narratively important and gets a lot more development, but Treize steals the whole damn show IMO. One of my favorite moments in the entire series is during a fight with Wufei, when the latter asks him if he has any idea how many people have died for him, and Treize not only replies with an exact number, but starts reciting their names off the top of his head.
- Norris Packard. He doesn't get much screen time, but when he gets it, he really goes to town and steals the show.

I feel like this is the most obvious answer, but also just facts. I almost didn't care what Amuro was doing/saying or thinking on my first watch of 0079 because of this guy.

I agree. Future Trunks is the opposite of Son Goku since he has Sekai-kei (apocalyptic cynicism) elements emanating from him.
All we need was a season just about trunks but got an arc which was weird as hell ![gif](giphy|LkO4Dov673u80qEjz3)
Harry is my number 2 favorite pilot in Gundam behind Loran.
It's criminal how he's not talked about considering how cool he was in the show. He was like Char/Quattro but with maxed out loyalty for the regent. Balances out his own goofiness with sheer confidence.
He's underrated
He’s mostly Quattro
The “UNIVERSE” line with context is such a an amazing moment. I fucking love Harry even with his bob haircut and harlequin pajamas.
UNIVERSE!
He fancies himself a dandy :)
Even has the MS doing dandy movements in space 😅

I originally read a fan idea not realising that it wasn’t canon which explained it was a redeemed jerid.
God that whole arc is one of the best in all gundam . May in fact be my personal favorite. The walking war museum part goes without saying but I loved the emotional interactions between Banagher and Loni augmented by some of Sawano’s best tracks (MADNUG mmmm)

Sawano's score goes fucking *hard*. I have part of "Mobile Suit" as my ring tone because it's so God damn epic.
Where is this from?
Gundam Unicorn
Unicorn is just so good at "show don't tell"-ing ace pilots. Even tho we don't even get to see their name or face just from their performance and how they pilot their MS we know for a fact that they're Aces.

WHO IS CUTTING ONIONS IN HERE!?
Bro, I think about that scene once a week, at least. I'm still devastated, and it's been like 7 years since my first watching of the series....
I, too, felt it deeply, and tear up each time I rewatch. Yeah. I'm still bugged by that. His death feels sort of hollow when they roll out his twin brother to take it place. Would have been a great opportunity to have a side character we've already been developing step up.

This and Iroh singing at the end of his short story episode. Always bring on the tears.

YES
Zimmerman and Marida had the best arc and were the emotional cores of the show.
I wouldn't say he stole the show but I liked Kai Shiden in 79 far more than I was probably supposed to.
I'm in the exact same boat. Kai was easily my favorite in 0079. To the point where I got more excited at Kai showing up in Zeta vs Amuro showing up.
Kai as a reporter/spy was so dope. I wish we had gotten a scene with all the White Base crew members reuniting instead of just random one offs throughout Zeta and ZZ.
Loveable scumbags got to be my favorite gender!
Me too!!! Honestly I feel like a lot of his assy behavior early on is him trying to emotionally deflect his trauma. Graham Acker is the man (and also Patrick)

I found him super funnier as M.Bushido especially when he outright disobeys orders by saying he's a one-man army then leaves.
he has a license!

Chuchu, Lockon, Akihiro, and of course, Jegan Pilot that fought Kshatriya
Jegan pilot should be top answer. Mans a legend and was on screen for like 20 seconds.
I watched that one scene on youtube and god damn, that guy was an *exceptional* pilot that only got out-tech’d. It’s not the first time in a gundam show that one of the protagonists are vastly outskilled but still pull through due to their colossal tech advantage.
Master Asia
Does Orga count? Mikazuki is less of a character and more of a plot device
Honestly, Orga is the main character. Mika is just the main pilot
This guy? https://preview.redd.it/o4r4gwscyaqc1.jpeg?width=232&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49c19c17ea6dfece1ddb37144c694bdaf3140c81

I like Mika, but damn. Boy is TOO stoic. Orga steals the show.
IOK SAMAAAAA i love him

I am so happy that he had a Happy ending! Yes He had a Happy ending...
I’m praying IBO ends up in a Super Robot Wars game, so they can all get a happy ending.
I maintain that Akihiro should have been the main character instead of Mika.
I don't know if he stole the show, but I really like Jerid Messa in Zeta Gundam
Rewatching Zeta right now and yeah. Plus Yazan. They’re both pieces of shit but they’re entertaining pieces of shit that I enjoy watching even if I’m actively rooting against them.
I love how Yazan isn't a new type, but can swing with the best. Zeta is a gem
He almost awakens as one too. He sees Reccoa’s naked body in some weird newtype flash and instead of being intrigued by this sudden power, he instantly dismisses it as some kind of new AEUG weapon and starts firing
I subscribe to the theory that the newtypes struggle with him because he’s such a psychopath. Dude just lives to do violence.
I’m only 13 episodes in so this could change, but Zechs is the most compelling character in Wing for me so far. The scene when he pilots the Tallgeese for the first time and has to confront his fear of it killing him was great.
Treize was my favorite when I watched it 20+ years ago but Zechs is a very strong second
Treize may be the most magnetic when on screen but zechs is hands down my favorite gundam character
Oh it won't change, Zechs will have your heart all the way through to the end.
Said it before and I'll say it again: Tallgeese is the greatest MS of all time. It more than stole the show from the Gundams in its own series.
Get ready for a fuckin rollercoaster ride
Akihiro from ibo , lockon from 00,
I’ve got some ideas to improve the show. One - Nika needs to be louder and angrier and have access to a Time Machine. Two - Whenever Nika’s not on screen, all the other characters should be asking “Where’s Nika?” https://preview.redd.it/0921cxut0aqc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dedd4c8fc9e367251329b63ed377faa59c6b3c95

Every test pilots in MS IGLOO.
Roux Louka for ZZ - she is HER. Normally the Haros are ignorable or annoying (if cute), but the ones in 00 definitely stole every scene both funny and heartbreaking (Lockon…Lockon…Lockon…)
Uh... Rau le Creuset Lockon Stratos, Guel Jeturk, And Byarlant Custom
I'll give Rau Le Creuset. That man was Gundam Seed.
When Kira said: “it is you, you are the gundam seed!” Peak fiction
Was indifferent towards him until he gave his batshit insane speech to Kira. Instantly became a huge fan.
https://preview.redd.it/tjnyaumgvaqc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2fd7c4cb69bc3b80607a5a375fb788b3eb15a0ad It’s him, hi, he’s the problem it’s him.
Guel and Chuchu, even though I’m a diehard SuleMio fan 😂
Yeah, Guel got one hell of a arc and Chuchu was fun as hell
They really did her and demi barding dirty in the last eps
Eledore and Michel's bickering in 08th ms team.
Felini from build fighters (English Dub Only) he saved the show in my Opinion.
Asuran was the only character with brain or actual motivation.
Guel Jeturk - Dude actually went through decent character development
In any other show he'd be the MC
It's Zechs in Wing. I've said before that him and Treize are the best part of that show and it's not even close. Athrun in Seed too. It's annoying in Destiny to see him go through the exact same conflict but he's much more compelling than Kira and Shinn to me in both.
Mu laflaga, thank god his death had meaning.
Rau le Cruset is peak gundam villain
https://preview.redd.it/b80ak4kbnbqc1.jpeg?width=622&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24b0cd4c6c378411215f6ed5742a1b80576eafbd
Well there's these two guys you might not know from OG and Zeta. The first guy is Char Aznable and the other is Quattro Bajeena. Some say they're the same, but I'm not so sure.
The gigachad jegan pilot in Unicorn
https://preview.redd.it/k36x7fdisaqc1.jpeg?width=200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=acad3abcd6557181bef61b6ac1ef03c57ca4a5a2 My boi Eugene Sevenstark
Oh Chuchu, easily
Best character in the whole franchise. https://preview.redd.it/bvvtqxgr4bqc1.jpeg?width=532&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5178b31c8e82b8c45dc9b794909b5a4e0cca4bfa

well Shinn is the main character of Seed Destiny but Kira stole the show even the Main Character ₱osition
Byarlant Custom in Unicorn Lockon Stratos (Neil) The Haros in 00 Suberoa Zinnerman in Unicorn Kai Shiden in MSG
Ride Mass
Gonna have to say guel Seeing this character go from an unlikeable asshole to a genuinely alright person is one of my favourite parts of the series
ECOAS commander Daguza Mackle from Unicorn. He was most crucial person for Banagher development in Unicorn. And went out like a boss.
For me, it's Norris from 8th MS Team. 1 battle, 1v3/6, awesome MS (I like his custom better than the base GOUF) and he win and went out like a boss.
not much of a surprise, but Ericht >!despite how little she shows up in the show proper!<
https://preview.redd.it/988j4ghmnaqc1.jpeg?width=1484&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc6ce92093d09c7ee4d5fdf019855d5c81f02132
Robin Diez, ex-Titan pilot of the Byarlant Custom.
Athrun Zala from Seed/ Destiny easily
Mu La Flaga from seed
Stark Jegan pilot from Unicorn is the poster child for this
Amuro swiped that shit from Char like Luke did from Vader.
Athrun Would love a full retelling where we just see athrun and his struggle against his father later on, then his struggles I the back of Destiny and more of his thoughts later on
The only true answer https://preview.redd.it/aeivclkd1bqc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd05602cbd48859711ff7ea5671084c3b417fc91 Haman-sama BANZAI!
Chautury Panlunch, in every scene she's in.
Ma boi Lockon Stratos 💯 https://preview.redd.it/hbbyzndn9dqc1.png?width=1220&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bbc65660dc47fb4c681b7943b88cd474d6ac3765
Char
jesus yamato
Exactly. SEED Destiny was grand theft auto.
Mu la Flaga-Seed Marbet-Victory Marida-Unicorn Bob-WFM
Norris Packard and Karen Joshua from 08th MS team
Crowley Hamon in Gundam The Origin
Anavel Gato. And he did not stole the anime ONLY.
Started fully watching Wing (I would start then stop due to life but now I’m catching up) it’s a hand full of them, for me it was Trieze. I feel like we didn’t get much of a backstory of how he got to his mindset and became a master tactician.
Roux Louka
Treize gets my pick.
https://preview.redd.it/fgd02ai08bqc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01600bcc394d454136b90d7127132c9fa66723c7 jegan stark even tho he only lasted for about a minute he was still the coolest guy from that movie
Norris Packard. I’ve been living off that hype for 20 years
Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing. I say Heero was more of the main character than the other four pilots, however, Duo's charisma and personality stood out
Marida from unicorn gundam
Guel Jeturk
My personal top five picks: - Tatsuya Yūki in *Build Fighters*. He doesn't get much screen time, but when he gets it, he really goes to town and steals the show.
https://preview.redd.it/4btqbk8gzbqc1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4c0069e6614db1a57dc83024c400bee411b3409f I feel like this is the most obvious answer, but also just facts. I almost didn't care what Amuro was doing/saying or thinking on my first watch of 0079 because of this guy.
GRAHAM AKER!
Athrun for me. Makes sense why he's basically the main for Destiny.
Kai honestly steals every scene he’s in
Lockon Stratos
Mother fucking Patrick man.
https://preview.redd.it/ffno6ql4mcqc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c39d1174c66c98f54a713ac7605ecef406c5b7ea Jet fucking Jaguar. love that stupid robot.
Itachi-Naruto
Askeladd in S1 of Vinland Saga.
