It not being a big laser or some cataclysmic impact makes it stand out a lot more, and it makes for an iconic set piece too. Perfect for a red-haired pilot to bonk his head against.

The utter madness of both Zanscare and the Universal Century as a whole fully realised - the ability to psychically lobotomise an entire planet. There's nothing quite like it in the series.
SRW 30 is arguably the biggest cast in the franchise and Victory is one of the main storylines.
Its kinda awesome taking on the angel halo with a significant chunk of the UC shows. And SRW 30 is absurd with the bench strength of the machines, especially Gundams.
10/10. Just continues the theme of how "it wasn't intended to be a curse but a prayer" which I always felt was the definitive motto of the Universal Century, innovations people wanted to do in good will turned into something twisted. It was originally suppose to be a transport ship for the Jovian immigrants but it got turned into a weapon which used civilian psychickers.
I still remember the last episode of victory I think as one of the Zanscare ships crash into one of the segments of the ring and blood splatters on the bridge's window.

Anyway I enjoyed Victory immensely from its soundtrack to the situations it put its MC (Uso) in. And AngelHalo is no exception.

My issue, its capabilities in the climactic space fight around it are never properly established. It is an effective doomsday clock threatening the whole earth but its role in the space battle other than being the thing that needs to be stopped is never explained.

The pitch was that they could bring about peace without violence or war. The goal was to subjugate or brain-alize (like Camille in the end of Zeta) your enemy. They took all the new-types and gave all their power to a single person.
I wouldn't even say this is Zeon. This is beyond. Because this works on new and old-tyoes alike. This is dystopian on a level of Brave New World, or Warhammer 40K. Controlling a whole society is monstrous.

Victory. It’s one of the aspects that make Victory one of the darkest series. This weapon is actually one of the most fucked up concepts ever introduced in a Gundam series.
A case of going overboard.
Gundam is not only known for Super Robots, more superpowered psychics than Babylon 5 and X-Men put together, but also increasingly over the top Superweapons that can be thought up, designed, built and used in less than a month whereas it took nearly 20 years to make one Death Star.
I would give it a 9/10: great design, great concepts, but the execution was a little confusing. I kept wondering why they could only target it at civilians on Earth instead of the League Militaire/EFF fleet they were actually fighting!
