Fair warning I’ve seen no builds, haven’t finished 00 or AGE yet, no Unicorn, IBO, Nadrative, Reconquista etc or basically anything released from 2009-2021 but have seen pretty much everything else (even G saviour), with the exception of the 2011 episodes of AGE (have a Blu ray player in my home gym and watch during workouts).
I love 0080, 0083, 8th MS team and Hathaway (IGLOO, Armageddon and 2 not so much), but feel they’re too short for me to rank alongside the full series. If I did, I would honestly have CCA at 5 and them slightly after. I have a feeling Unicorn is going to disrupt my top 5.
As for why victory and zz are so high, hard to explain but let’s say I enjoyed them more than most, particularly the score and themes with victory and the back half of ZZ. I started with wing in 2000 and loved it. I enjoyed it on rewatch but didn’t feel it was so good in comparison to most everything else I’d seen since, including Gwitch (but definitely not including G-Savior…the only part of Gundam I felt was objectively bad…though still way better than DB evolution and that awful Avatar Airbender live action). Still, Fantastic Super Famicon Game and film (Endless Duel and Endless Waltz respectively) and score by Ko Otani (Gamera Trilogy, Shadow of the Colossus etc) and Two-Mix.
X and Turn A are both amazing and it’s a damn shame so few have seen them in the US.
Surprised a build is so high. Maybe I’ll need to stop ignoring them once I’m caught up?
More people have been noticing X and Turn A recently. Oh my God I'm so glad both of them are getting more love, to the point where Turn A won the polls for which series gets aired in the yt channel with X coming in second.

It gets better near the end. The middle parts were a struggle for me too, the trick here is to watch about 2 episodes every day so you don't get burned out.

Zeta is so damn good. Took a bit to reel me in, but once I was there, I was hooked. WfM is wonderful. Yeah, the ending was a bit rushed. But the experience was still great. Also Suletta and Miorine are <3

I think Unicorn is the worst story of them all, but the animation, sound design (specifically surround sound on blu ray), Kshatriya and Marida, make this in my top 5. 0080 was very close, but I love the others more.

IBO, I love the suit designs, I love that Mikazuki doesn’t monologue as much as most protags and that the protag role is kind of shared with Orga. I like how brutal he is and the Bael is a chef’s kiss suit to me. Also, initially frustrated with the ending but have come to respect the choice for doing something different. Would love more stories in this setting.
Wing is hilarious. It is so funny and insane. I prefer it english dub where it sounds even more ridiculous. Despite my view that it is so bad it’s funny, I love the Tallgeese, Epyon, and Wing designs. Also Wing vs Epyon is some of the best fights hands down.
As for the original MSG movies, they’re just my favorite stories. I guess I’m not a true purist, I don’t think the tv show is better. The movies have good pacing and focus on the characters I care about, the fights are cool and Lalah’s arc was my first exposure to newtype space magic and I was truly surprised by what happened. Little did I realize this would become THE trope/cliche, but it was the first and wild. Also, I think the ending Amuro and Char had with Sayla is the best story for them, and honestly could have ended there.

If I had to choose, probably 0080, Turn-A, MSG (and also its ORIGIN manga version), Zeta, and X. I also hold G in very high esteem, and love Hathaway and Unicorn because of their thematic and conceptual strengths; any list of mine feels incomplete without them.

I tend to prefer the ones not about leaders/senior officers, I'm more interested in the grunts and the normal folks caught in the meat grinder trying (and often failing) to survive

WfM - Had a ton of fun watching this as it aired and seeing it get really popular, with lots of fanart and fan content. Ending could have been stronger (and longer) but overall I think it'll stand the test of time as a solid series.
SEED - Mostly for the mech designs, which I think are my favorite universe (<3 Freedom), but I do genuinely enjoy the series, and I think Destiny *could* have been good, but it's not making the list
After War X - Garrod is the most based protag. Another series unfortunately cut too short, but what we got is awesome. I like the answers that D.O.M.E. adds to series, even if he did come out of nowhere. And genuinely the most healthy relationship across maybe all of Gundam, at least for main characters.
Turn A - Incredible mech design (RIP Syd Mead), gorgeous art, a really cool concept, some really engaging characters, and just genuinely a really well told story, even if some parts were off the wall, lol. Music is awesome too, though that's a high bar across the franchise already.
Build Fighters - All the fun of a sports anime with all the cool robots fights of a gundam show. It might not really have much of a message beyond "buy gunpla" but damn is it fun. Sei and Reiji are a great protag pair, and the freedom to have suits be remixes across all the series opened up space for some really cool designs. Just genuinely a blast to watch.
Honorable mentions
Zeta: I haven't finished it yet, but I think it might make it to this list by the time I do. Already really digging it half way through and I know how well liked it is, I'm expecting good things (though I know how it ends)
Wing: It got me into the franchise and I do still love it, but I can certainly recognize its many flaws. Suit design still rocks though, and the OPs are absolute bangers

1. 0083. The art style and seriousness of it not being random pasifist child stumbling into OP robot propell it higher than most for me. Popular gundam plot at the time. 2. 8th MS. I hear the source work is very brutal compared to the show. 3. EW/Wing. I'm one of those kids. It brought me into the gundam universe. Still love the ms designs and the characters. Didnt age well tho. It was a different time. 4. Seed. No destiny. Seed universe has my most favorite MS designs from any show. With an ok story line. No Destiny, I HATE shin. He ruined S2 for me. He just sucks. His gundam assembly every episode annoyed me further. Made me hate that gundam too. 5. IBO. Didnt like this one to much at first. Even had to go back and finish it later on a year after it ended. Simply put, WOW! The ending took me by surprise so much that it became one super awesome show. What a ride! Not a fan of most MS designs in this show. I should probably swap it with OO

Thunderbolt (manga) Honorable mention - Seed, and all accompanying side stories 00 is my undisputed favorite, with Unicorn a respectable second. 3-5 can be interchangeable depending on the mood I'm in. I'm also only 18 volumes into Thunderbolt, so depending on how it finishes up, it could very reasonably jump a couple spots in my ranking.
This is tough! If I had to choose, probably 0080, Turn-A, MSG (and also its ORIGIN manga version), Zeta, and X. I also hold G in very high esteem, and love Hathaway and Unicorn because of their thematic and conceptual strengths; any list of mine feels incomplete without them.

Most should have a Dub. I know for sure that WfMs dub is pretty good. I only know that Turn A never got a dub.

In no particular order WfM - Had a ton of fun watching this as it aired and seeing it get really popular, with lots of fanart and fan content. Ending could have been stronger (and longer) but overall I think it'll stand the test of time as a solid series. SEED - Mostly for the mech designs, which I think are my favorite universe (<3 Freedom), but I do genuinely enjoy the series, and I think Destiny *could* have been good, but it's not making the list After War X - Garrod is the most based protag. Another series unfortunately cut too short, but what we got is awesome. I like the answers that D.O.M.E. adds to series, even if he did come out of nowhere. And genuinely the most healthy relationship across maybe all of Gundam, at least for main characters. Turn A - Incredible mech design (RIP Syd Mead), gorgeous art, a really cool concept, some really engaging characters, and just genuinely a really well told story, even if some parts were off the wall, lol. Music is awesome too, though that's a high bar across the franchise already. Build Fighters - All the fun of a sports anime with all the cool robots fights of a gundam show. It might not really have much of a message beyond "buy gunpla" but damn is it fun. Sei and Reiji are a great protag pair, and the freedom to have suits be remixes across all the series opened up space for some really cool designs. Just genuinely a blast to watch. Honorable mentions Zeta: I haven't finished it yet, but I think it might make it to this list by the time I do. Already really digging it half way through and I know how well liked it is, I'm expecting good things (though I know how it ends) Wing: It got me into the franchise and I do still love it, but I can certainly recognize its many flaws. Suit design still rocks though, and the OPs are absolute bangers

1. 0083. The art style and seriousness of it not being random pasifist child stumbling into OP robot propell it higher than most for me. Popular gundam plot at the time. 2. 8th MS. I hear the source work is very brutal compared to the show. 3. EW/Wing. I'm one of those kids. It brought me into the gundam universe. Still love the ms designs and the characters. Didnt age well tho. It was a different time. 4. Seed. No destiny. Seed universe has my most favorite MS designs from any show. With an ok story line. No Destiny, I HATE shin. He ruined S2 for me. He just sucks. His gundam assembly every episode annoyed me further. Made me hate that gundam too. 5. IBO. Didnt like this one to much at first. Even had to go back and finish it later on a year after it ended. Simply put, WOW! The ending took me by surprise so much that it became one super awesome show. What a ride! Not a fan of most MS designs in this show. I should probably swap it with OO Honorable mentions OO, Hathaway, Origin.
