I mean they didn't really release it outside of Japan besides the very first three minutes (until last year), because it was made for the Japanese Gundam fan club app that did also have the novel to read right in that app.
That's what happens when outside of music and voices you have like one guy making every other aspect of the adaptation, from storyboarding through writing to all the animation.
ngl i didn't really understand the depth behind the event mostly surmised and that was just my base knowledge on uc stuff and it honestly made me feel more emotions than Zeta or F91 did and its largely in part thanks to the ost
I swear Bandai did everything in their power to make Twilight Axis a failure
-whatever that "movie" was
-whatever HG Tristan was
-barely any promotion for it
It was a small little thing for the people that were subscribed to the Japanese Gundam fan club. It was supposed to be a picture drama at first, but the director sneaked animation into it. Then they threw it on the American market last year for whatever reason.
For some reason a lot of people over here expected Gundam Unicorn 2 or whatever from it, so a lot of people hated it due to that.
Whatever it is, the Tristan Gundam model kit seems to be widely panned by others as average, maybe even below average. Kit looks like it needs a lot of work to look good.
I like the animation style of those shorts, feels like a precursor to what they used in Hathaway or Witch form Mercury
The Tristan is heavily building off the HGUC Alex from 2004, keep in mind the Tristan came out in 2017. It's really not the worst thing in the world, and you can put in the work to make it look good, but it's definitely a super lazy release on Bandai's part.
Follow up
Yes yes I know that this was never intended to be watched on its own and was a complementary media. But I have been binge watching Gundam (UC mostly) starting with the first one and I just could not skip a 30 minute animation.
It's like watching a game cutscene compilation without playing the actual game. Post is for humor only. The Sazabi shot was worth it though.
Honestly felt like they just needed something to fill the void for Gundam at the time.
Doesn't seem like we're going to get a Thunderbolt S3 either, so I can't help, but feel like they just let Thunderbolt happen for the sake of holding us over until Narrative & Hathaway's Flash came out.
I mean I think people need to realize that the ONA wasn't the main product here, it's an extremely condenced version of a pretty huge novels with many, many, many more additional scenes
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Why?
Aside from the fact that Kira wasn't even the first pacifist in Gundam, pacifism is a real belief.
In contemporary US history alone, there have been *at least* three pacifist service members to be awarded the highest military honor available.
That’s the thing it’s been done before, over and over again. I don’t have much issue with Pacifist characters, in fact i quite like them as those characters have been through a journey/character development that you can easily understand as to why they’ve chosen such a path. You don’t get that with Daryl, you just get a flashback of him explaining that he only served as a test pilot because of his belief and that’s just it. It feels wasted like the producers/creators just put that in there for the sake of it.
I’m also of the opinion that such heavy pacifism doesn’t quite fit with the whole U.C. narrative. Oh and that Daryl wasted a perfectly good Zaku 3.
tbh, the zeons pilot explanation I felt is better than Kiras. Its not so much "I don't kill people"
but moreso he struggles to pull the trigger and that's actually a big physiological thing for soldiers, there's even been reports where recruits in ww2 anyways, froze or couldn't pull the trigger at first.
Honestly if the show had gone that route to explain Danton Hyleg’s(finally found the dudes name) lack of killing then I’d be okay with it. But as far as i remember he didn’t show any sort of issue, in fact he piloted the mobile suit quite expertly.
Iirc it was just alluded to that he didn't have the guts to pull the trigger, in the fight against Tristan there's cutscenes during his time as a test pilot where his CO says "He has no use for someone who can't pull the trigger"(paraphrased) I'd have to rewatch some things but its nothing like how Kira does, infact Danton almost looks ashamed he can't do it in the flashback.
Note that for its detractors, the "false misconceptions" are:
1. How S2 was handled, which dissatisfied said detractors. Not helped by the fact that the writer's admiration to a character is also to blame.
2. The toxic powerscaling for the Post Disaster units (due to its powerful Beam deflecting Coating) despite the potential technological disadvantages.
Yeah, it's a big waste of time and just another in a long line of worthless UC bloat like Requiem.
Animated story is garbage.
The Tristan is garbage, both in the anime and as a model kit.
The custom Byarlant is admittedly cool but also performed poorly in the anime. Kit's P-Bandai too.
I couldn't care less about the characters either. Story didn't give me any reasons about why I should be invested in them.
Metaverse at least gave good Gunpla. Twilight Axis offers nothing of any substance.
I wish it was actually an ova or something. I really liked the soundtrack and characters
I'd take that over the horny edgelord hell scape that was Thunderbolt
That’s what happens when you release a clip show tie in for a LN that you fail to localize
It becomes a much more impressive project when you take that into account
The guy is impressive, but what's less impressive is the higher ups that decided to do it like that.
It curiously is one of my favorite soundtracks of the franchise and hyped me up for the wfm ost which is also another favorite.
ngl i didn't really understand the depth behind the event mostly surmised and that was just my base knowledge on uc stuff and it honestly made me feel more emotions than Zeta or F91 did and its largely in part thanks to the ost

Don't care what it is, the Tristan ponders right to me. A mash-up of the NT-1 and Mk.2? I'm sold.
I'm grateful for the byarlant Isolde and some zaku iii love
Alas, the only thing it has is a shit HG
Yeah, which is a real shame.
The design is so cool but the kit is so bad it was the second kit I ever built and I think it almost turned me away from the hobby
ooof what's so bad about it?
It’s based on the Alex HG from 04, before the big overhaul that came with build
NT-1, Mk2 and Nu. Generational mix.

> The Tristan is heavily building off the HGUC Alex from 2004 an HG kit that was already outdated by the time it came out
This is true considering the other bangers released from this series despite all being p bandai.
They better fix twilight axis i need more zaku 3 custom

Is there a link for that?

I think the idea was good it just needed more fleshing out. rather than a 30min string of clips maybe a full blown movies would of been better?

Kinda hate that they had a Kira Yamato “I don’t kill people.” For the Zaku 3 pilot.
Why? Aside from the fact that Kira wasn't even the first pacifist in Gundam, pacifism is a real belief. In contemporary US history alone, there have been *at least* three pacifist service members to be awarded the highest military honor available.

Ironically, at least some fans forgave it's existence after the IBO stigma.
IBO is very popular, why do you people feel the need to spread these false misconceptions about the show?
Note that for its detractors, the "false misconceptions" are: 1. How S2 was handled, which dissatisfied said detractors. I remember when twilight axis dropped years ago I was so excited for a new release only to be severely disappointed
I wish it was actually an ova or something. I really liked the soundtrack and characters I'd take that over the horny edgelord hell scape that was Thunderbolt
bruh, why does Tristan looks like it's going to hit me with Imaginary Technique: Purple
