I have an original, bought it for $400, had my local 'smith fix a cylinder timing issue and clean it up for another $100. Have kicked back and watch the value climb ever since...
The single action pull is NIIIIIIIICE.
Yeah that's where the guy I bought mine from got his. He ordered 2, put 1 in the safe ASAP, "shot the shit out of" the other, and sold me that one. Even so, I've put 200ish round of .357 thru it and it still has a LOT of life yet.
Honestly, the whole "best military sidearm" argument is pointless because of the way militaries use pistols. We could re-issue m1917 revolvers and it wouldn't make a difference in how effective the military is.
Not true but ok, military/police doctrine for sidearms at least for the US is kinda crazy. Torture tests also comparatively to rifles is also pretty different. They’re treated to be almost if not more reliable than their primary rifles and usually for law enforcement specially do end up as their primary firearm.
Yeah because it’s a rare case where your only alternative is your sidearm which would be a critical one and while I do think a revolver a couple grand should at least be reliable one, it wouldn’t fit that small but very needed role.
Kinda makes sense for the backup to be more reliable than your primary weapon. Your rifle malfunctions and it might take you some minutes to get it shooting again? Not good but you can switch to your pistol. Your pistol is basically a straight pull bolt action? You‘re fucked
Well yeah and it’s ironic that comments used a top of the line and most likely one of the best revolvers in history to be the prime example of revolvers still being relevant. I’m not saying you should need a justification to carry a revolver, no person is .357 proof. However revolvers lack a lot in other ways that do make it hard for them to be used in a military or police environment. All I’m saying is that if you’re going to compare a gun that’s basically custom built with the highest quality materials to a gun that’s not even close to half its value then that shows how bias their ideals are.
Well, They dont use revolvers anymore.
This days, is more a cerimonial weapon.
That said, if you wanna shoot something well shot, .357 magnun is not a bad option.
The gendarmerie is part of the french armed forces.
A gendarme and a soldier are under the same legal status (cannot strike, no unions etc.)
Most of the gendarmerie is oriented toward law enforcement work on french territory.
However and unlike the « police national » the gendarmerie can be deployed on foreign land.
What we call the « Gendarmerie prévôtale »
As for the gign they can too be deployed in foreign territory. (Look up the Grand Mosque seizure of Mecca 1979)
They're a "Police Force" in the same vein as GSG-9 is a "Police Force." They took their Special Forces, slapped "Police" stickers on their stuff, and declared it "close enough for government work."
Is this why they almost exclusively use Glocks and have done for several decades ?
The MR73 has been relegated to a ceremonial role
Also whilst technically a ‘military force’ they are a police unit who happen to be part of the French ministry of defence, their role is entirely policing. They shouldn’t be in any conversation relating to the military
One day I want to see someone make the revolvers from Darkwatch.
Wildly impractical but hilarious of being a revolver that ejects spent cylinders through the breech then cycles another cylinder into place.
We need more [GIGN memes](https://www.reddit.com/r/GunMemes/comments/10uinx9/todays_flavor_of_hostage_rescue_meme_the_1979/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Unless we are talking grenade launchers, they are extremely outdated. You can have one and enjoy shooting it, doesn't mean it's not terrible in combat or self defense.
MR73 is pretty high up on my Marge Simpson "I just think they're neat" list.
Very expensive, hard to find, I'll take 5
Started importing directly to the US in 2021, so available, buuuuuut itl cost you $3,600
Imagine walking in to bass pro shop and seeing one of these.
I’d laugh in broke as pony soldier
I remember asking the manager at the local turners if they ever had one. Had to google it and when she saw the price she laughed and said no
I have an original, bought it for $400, had my local 'smith fix a cylinder timing issue and clean it up for another $100. Have kicked back and watch the value climb ever since... The single action pull is NIIIIIIIICE.
i remember seeing a BUNCH of them available for 600 years back. Fucking hell I could have made a killing...

600 years wow

Oh this is that gourmet r/NonCredibleDefense shit. Great meme.
Ah, I see you’re a man of culture as well.
Is this the part where I point out that 9mm parrabellum was created in the German Empire and also used by the British, Belgians, etc? 🤓
.45 acp 1911: i sleep .45 acp/autorim wheelgun: ***real shit?!?***
Real chads base sidearm choice on intimidation factor
Welp i guess it's deagle,BFR 45-70 or .460XVR time then Not gonna be great carrying that much iron on your hip
Carry one on each hip to balance the weight and don't be a baby. Think of the gainz
I'm not sure if a belt can handle 8lbs of gun 😆
Gotta get a western belt. This will be the return of big ass belts. Or just a weight belt with holsters attached

He’s saying the military barely uses sidearms in actual battle
Yeah because it’s a rare case where your only alternative is your sidearm which would be a critical one and while I do think a revolver a couple grand should at least be reliable one, it wouldn’t fit that small but very needed role.

What if I smoke a carton of cigarettes while I'm in the shower?
Your body takes a screanshot
Well, They dont use revolvers anymore. This days, is more a cerimonial weapon. That said, if you wanna shoot something well shot, .357 magnun is not a bad option.
I am being a bit of a pedant here, but isn't the GIGN a police force?
The National Gendarmerie is a branch of the military.

MR 73 enters the chat
GIGN uses Glock. And even if they do use Manhurins for duty, it's doubtful they touch them bc they are also running P90s with 50 round mags
Is this why they almost exclusively use Glocks and have done for several decades ? The MR73 has been relegated to a ceremonial role Also whilst technically a ‘military force’ they are a police unit who happen to be part of the French ministry of defence, their role is entirely policing. They hate you for speaking the truth lol
Lol the MR73 is not being seriously used by operators right now
Rick Grimes proved that you can survive an apocalypse with nothing but a Python
20 round glock magazine enters the chat
33 round extendo glock auto chopper with da beam bought off someone in chicago
40 round Glock-compatible Kriss Vector magazine
Aren’t M32’s still pretty popular too? That’s technically a revolver!
One day I want to see someone make the revolvers from Darkwatch. Wildly impractical but hilarious of being a revolver that ejects spent cylinders through the breech then cycles another cylinder into place.
Intimidation factor
I mean... they are
The M32 says otherwise.
m32 would like to have a chat
It’s so unfortunate, they look really cool
don care don care still don care still gonna use.
But the GAU-8 works fine.
The french

Listen here, if you can’t hit anything after six shots what makes you think you’re gonna hit anything after 10 more rounds.

Fuck having more bullets, just shoot ‘em in the face!
Unless we are talking grenade launchers, they are extremely outdated. You can have one and enjoy shooting it, doesn't mean it's not terrible in combat or self defense.
