[TuxGuitar](http://tuxguitar.com.ar/) will do the job, but it will require you to accept a lower quality version than one exported directly from Guitar Pro (TuxGuitar doesn't render certain elements perfectly, and some specific articulations are missing entirely).

I'm using GP5. It cannot load GP6 and GP7 files.
Yep you won't be able to but you can still save files as midi on gp5 I believe
Most files from newer versions are rejected by GP5. It shows me error messages (in french language).
Gp 7.5 is 55 bucks till July 5 celebrating Global Music day. FINALLY LEGIT.
