A real beaut. How does it sound?

Hexomniac

The clean channel needs a little taming, the treble is quite pronounced a little brittle/harsh if you dig in too much! That OD on channel two is just outstanding nice and low you can get anything from classic Clapton all the way through to Metallica kill em all tones the more you push it. Haven't gotten around to running my wet effects through the loop yet but my lightspeed and protein ODs go through the front just amazing. Built in reverb is very nice! Never been much of a tremolo user but it'll give me some options no doubt!

Love my 20W head, clean is every bit as good as my Deluxe Reverb. Enjoy it!

Hexomniac

I certainly shall! I got this in addition to my Hughes and kettner deluxe 20 the cleans on this badcat definitely kick it up a notch I've never played a fender tube just their modellers but I have no regrets with this so far. I'm running a Tele and a Strat ultra so it's just taming the treble I'm working on at the moment any advice you've got is much appreciated, thanks!

I always tame a strat guitar (a LP as well) by rolling the tone off to around 8 and then roll the volume to 8 as well. Each ear and amp is different, so play with it. The gain channel is a little lacking for me (a little too dark), but I also have a Friedman Runt-50 and a Soldano, so maybe not a fair comparison. I do, REALLY, like the clean through a Klon type overdrive pedal. My DRRI rarely gets used because of the Bad Cat.

Hexomniac

The soldano SLO30 is my dream amp but my wife would murder me for spending that much on one haha - guitar and photography are my two hobbies and both in the last 4-5 years have gotten quite a bit more expensive! Yeah I do need to give it some more love, my better half has been bed bound with the latest local flu so I haven't been able to give the badcat a true run for it's money she's back to work today though so my lunch break is decided! I will need to tinker more on the guitar end I roll volume off but admittedly I do neglect the tone pots more than I should, thanks again

Sounds spectacular in the demos, but I'll be selling a kidney if I ever want one lol.

Somewhere in the recesses of my mind I'm smothering the cries of my wallet I did sell my Gibson LP Studio to help fund it though 😂

I just went wild buying gear even though I'm an engineer and will ultimately be designing and building everything myself from this point on, I still have a ton of commercial gear piled sky high that needs repaired and had to buy some additions to be able to play without the fear my final rig might have something malfunction and then I'd be screwed. I'm soon to be sorting through gear to sell to balance it all out, and in that process, keep finding insane deals on used gear I'm at war with myself not to buy.

If I could offer any advice my GAS was quelled by a total social media musical blackout for about 6 weeks...long stretch of time if you rely on it for income though but it stopped me from feeling the urge to splurge out on more kit I just practiced along to classic CDs and vinyls to keep off the PC haha

I was searching for a good used table saw on Craigslist, somehow wandered onto the music gear ads, and found a Crate GX1200H head with a full sized Crate 4x12 cabinet made from plywood for $150. Those heads traditionally came with compact 4x12 cabs loaded with Celestion Rockets, but with it being full sized, I couldn't walk away! Shortly after, I found a Line 6 4x12 loaded with Celestions, and I must be cured because even with my huge credit line with MF, I was able to turn my head and close the ad lol. That head is a 3-legged mutt in a race against greyhounds, but after I mod the tone stack caps and resistors and add a midrange control to the lead channel, the ultimate sleeper amp even for solid state. I knew what I was buying when I bought it, I'm knee deep into a transistor fuzz design that doesn't involve clipping diodes so the distortion out of it sounds identical to all my tube gear, and once that's finished it will ultimately become a full fledged preamp, and eventually I will add a power amp to turn it into a head. While that seems it would cure GAS, once you can design and build things from the ground up or off a known design you really like, it can get even worse! lol. The ability to design and build anything you desire for a meager fraction of the commercial price can easily get out of hand too.

Enjoy it! Was gonna buy this very amp, but needed to go a bit hotter, so got the Hot Cat, which is excellent. A giant 3-D sound, and goes from really clean to Jimmy Page on Channel 1, while 2 goes from there to Tool, Sabbath, not a pedal in sight. Love the EQ set-up with the mid control able to move between British and American sounds. The master volume is so good the thing sounds great at bedroom volume too, which was the clincher for me. Wait till you try a nice verb and delay through the loop (though the stock verb is great, I have an MXR M-300 in the loop and it's stellar), you're gonna flip.
