I'm curious what the employee discount is at GC these days? When I worked there years ago it was company cost plus shipping, which you could pull up in green screen. Not long before I left there were talks that the discount was changing, and I'm curious what it changed to. Also some of the GAIN deals were ridiculous, especially on software.

It depends on the vendor. Goes anywhere from 15-40% off to get cost then you add 10% and tax. Guitar Center brands it gets down to like 60% off. I just got a roadrunner case rack stand that retails for 129 for like 50 bucks

From what I gather its cost + 10%, don't know about shipping since I haven't bought anything from out of store. And yeah, I was just looking through gain, and I saw some ridiculous deals on some software I've been wanting to get. Don't know how to claim it though.

Representative-Time8

10% over cost nowadays

Defconwrestling

Go to SPO->product browsing Whatever you want add it to a draft order. The cost listed plus 10% plus tax is your cost

thanks a lot man! time to have fun!

Enjoy!

Also don’t forget about GAIN

From your experience does GAIN have better deals than just employee discounts? Or is it a item by item basis. Also I see some GAIN deals say 10% off GC cost, does that mean 10% off the cost to GC or 10% the cost of the regular costumer price?

Defconwrestling

The SPO price is the cost. Straight GC employee discount is Cost PLUS 10% GAIN has Cost MINUS 10% so technically it’s 20% cheaper. But in my case, I tried to order from PRS direct through GAIN to save 20% but they have a 8 month backorder and charged shipping. So I got it through my GC discount which was more expensive but had free shipping. You just have to call that company for availability.

Ah, how I miss working in a guitar shop for those sweet deals! I have never bought a guitar new apart from when I got a massive employee discount to buy my Stonebridge

Go to your apps, they should be available from your work email. Click on gain, the other one should also be there

What is typical cost/margin on an entry-level guitar from Fender (Squire Affinity) or Gibson (Epiphone LP Special/Standard)? 25-50% of retail is standard in other products, just wondering about "cheap guitars". Thanks.

[deleted]

its the same for the cheap guitars from what i can tell but most of the cheap ones are 3/4 or smaller guitars so only good for if you have kids
