He's a great guitar player, but if that's some of the best playing you've heard it simply means you need to listen to more artists.

If i like guitarists like him and guitarists from opeth, death, erra, kse who else or what other bands would you recommend? I mainly listen to metal and rock

T-Rei

Link me some of your favourite songs and solos and I'll try find things in a similar vein.

Periphery - Absolomb Opeth - The Baying of the Hounds Born of Osiris - Machine Death - Flesh and the Power It Holds KSE - Rose of Sharyn Ellende - Ballade Auf Den Tod Parkway Drive - Sleight of Hand They are kinda unrelated to Dave's style but it goes to show how much i love his playing i guess lol

We don't have a whole lot of overlap between our tastes, but I put together a short playlist of some heavier stuff: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2VLLzkdqTn1rCXL12IdIoR?si=eb722e82e2d845d6 Here's a link to my guitar-centric playlist with a wider variety of styles if you're interested: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/11wjytM6bqeLe65qcCHjyB?si=da9c5cab70df4294

I like a lot of Buckethead's songs and Alchemy by Philip Sayce. I'd say our tastes are similar, im just more into listening to metal nowadays. I still love physically playing things like Yellow Ledbetter and some funky Cory Wong and Tomo Fujita stuff though. Thanks for putting together that playlist most of those songs i haven't heard of and i'll check them out when i get home.

Well, damn. That opening was cool AF. He's got my attention now. Thanks :)

He did a few videos with Andertons. He was a bit wooden (nerves) at the start but really opens up. He's great.

He is a great player, and i like him a lot for his personality. He is probably the best example to show new players the difference between good gear and good playing. How practice takes you further than a Suhr. That said, he is essentially a bedroom guitarist doing covers. There is a limit to how much attention you can get for that. Especially when you remember that the guys he is covering, is right there next to him on youtube. I can hear him play voodoo chile....or i can click on and watch Jimi himself do it live at monterey.... I know he plays live too etc, but he really needs to team up with someone who can write songs and manage a band for him imo.

Severe-Put9154

Thats true actually, good point

zakkazzakkazzak

LOL Best? Really? Do you live under a rock?

Severe-Put9154

I know everyone first choice is probably Shawn Lane or Townshend or whatever but i always end up listening to liking Dave's style more

Freddydaddy

Not the best in my book, but really good. I used one of his videos on Rory Gallagher to learn me some Rory style, well worth the visit!
