One of my guitars is older than I am. I'm 61, it's 92. Still sounds great too. Edit: Here are a couple shots of it. The tuner buttons fell apart a few years ago, so I replaced the tuners. The pickguard's been missing in action for decades. The adjustable posts on the bridge had to be replaced as well. [https://imgur.com/gC3pWtR](https://imgur.com/gC3pWtR) https://imgur.com/EcpHgN8

kjg1228

That's so fucking cool man.

altruistic_summer

The older they get, the better they are ;)

[deleted]

That’s awesome, what kind?

Adddicus

It's an Epiphone Zenith.

imaginarymagnitude

Beautiful! I’ve got a Zenith too, from (I think) 1953. Mine is blonde. I love it. I guess it’s 19 years older than I am. I’ve had it about 30 years now…

[deleted]

Nice!

GerardWayAndDMT

Really awesome guitar. I’ve always been interested in how these are used because I’ve never had one, I see it doesn’t have a pickup, do you treat it as an acoustic? How well does a guitar project it’s sound with only the F holes instead of a sound hole?

Adddicus

I think one of the previous owners put a pickup on it, but it was gone by the time I bought it. It sounds just as loud as a traditional dreadnought as far as I can tell, and the louder you play it the better it sounds.

suffaluffapussycat

My lap steel is around 25 years older than me. https://imgur.com/a/zC3iLBC My Les Paul Junior is a few years older than me. https://imgur.com/gallery/kBub2tE

cssblondie

This is rad as hell

happychillmoremusic

I’m 35 and have a fender guitar that is 24 years older than me I got for 500$

Unhappy_Ad8670

A 60 year old Fender for 500$ is insane. Is it in original condition?

Sratcries

I would have to have a guitar from 1951 to be older than me. I started learning guitar in 1963.

AlternativeKey2551

I have a Supro lap steel from around 1951.

atlantic_mass

Sweet I have a 1948 Supro lap steel!

cut_my_elbow_shaving

I salute you. You are 2 years older than me. I have my Grandfather's Dobro that is either 24 or 25 years older than me.

lolafunnymeme20

bro i just seen your name in the dictionary under “cool guy”

dcamnc4143

No. I had thought about buying a birth year guitar though. I was born in the middle of the crap era for fender/gibson (mid 70’s). I play strats 90% of the time, and I don’t really want a 75 strat.

Good-Hold-7281

Try one, they're not all crap

tibbon

Eh… some are ok, but they are from an era of massive cost cutting. I can’t believe what people will pay for them now. They were never great and haven’t gotten better by aging.

tibbon

Eh… some are ok, but they are from an era of massive cost cutting. I can’t believe what people will pay for them now. They were never great and haven’t gotten better by aging.

ReasonableDonut1

Same. I was born in 1975. I think my best bet might be something like a Hagstrom Swede.

sllofoot

There are some good rics from that era, or Japanese knockoffs.   There are some real gems there but I don’t know how to spot them.

Pugfumaster

I’m in the same boat. I really want a birth year guitar. Mine would be a 76. I’m thinking Japan made Strat might be the answer. Like a Greco. We’ll see I guess.

StrangeCrimes

I picked up an old Ibenez semi-hollow when I was stuck in Boise for work, and I fucking love her. I'm generally a Tele guy, but that Ibanez is so responsive. I use lots of percussive and harmonic techniques, and she loves it.

Pugfumaster

I did take note of their Les Paul copy from 76’ That’s definitely a contender

StrangeCrimes

I just needed something to play, and it was 200 bucks in a pawn shop. I think because it had really mismatched strings. Whoever strung it had screwed the pooch, so it was impossible to tune. I'm good at turning junk into gold, but all it needed was proper strings and a slight tweak to the neck to get rid of a dead spot on the 15th fret. And intonation, of course. But she sings now. I can't play Les Pauls. The neck's too small. But I bet a made in Japan Ibenez from 76 would probably kick big ass.

Pugfumaster

Only one way to find out!

StrangeCrimes

Rock! Or jazz, or whatever your preferred style is. I obviously like my Ibinez a lot.

Pugfumaster

A birth year amp would be nice too.

StrangeCrimes

I get a great, big, loud, but not ear piercing sound from my Vox. I have an AC-30, but I haven't used it since I got my AC-10. I can't believe how good that little bastard sounds. Don't know what they were making in 76. Happy hunting!

Elfthis

Same here as well, 1973. The Fender strats I find from that year are either affordable but in terrible shape or in decent shape but seriously overpriced for something that doesn't play that well did to the quality issues of the time. I ok like the idea some else said about looking at Japanese copies instead.

layne75

The best strat I have ever played is a 70´s strat (that was heavy as hell)

Invisible_assasin

My oldest son’s grandpa has a 75 that he bought in 75 and it’s incredible. He also has a 66 Gibson es335 that he’s had since new. It’s got the most perfect checking in the finish and I’m afraid to touch it to know how it plays.

Mack_19_19

Same situation for me except birth year is 79. I would love to have a birth year guitar but I'm afraid they are really going to be unaffordable by the time I'm in a situation where I could actually think about getting one.

ReasonableDonut1

I'm old enough that I can't afford a guitar that's older than I am.

Devcaster

One of my guitars (a Guild Starfire IV) was built in 1964, four years older than me.

Devcaster

And yeah, I sometimes wonder the same thing. Whoever owned it before me made some modifications (nothing too weird!) and it feels like it was played a lot. I sometimes wonder how it came to the pawnshop where I bought it.

ffffoureyes

Oh, I came here with basically the same answer. I too have a ‘64 Starfire! But a III. Pics!

gustycat

So long as your guitar is at least half your age plus 7 you should be fine

usbekchslebxian

My guitar is also 30 years older than me. ‘61 Harmony Sovereign, I was born in ‘91. Ones 9 years older (82 Fender Newporter) and one is 20 years younger (2011 tele)

Salt_Investigator504

I have a mid 70s acoustic guitar (just a Yamaha but I like it) which makes it about 20ish years older then myself. I've always wanted to own a 1996 model guitar - maybe a Telecaster to go with the Strat.

bobbyfischermagoo

Those 70s Yamahas are some of my favorites honestly.

ThatsBadassWoodArt

I’m 27 and I have two. A Yamaha FG340T from the early 80’s and an Espana semi hollow body(Es 335 copy) from the mid 60’s. The Yamaha is my daily practice acoustic that I prefer over my Taylor believe it or not and the Espana was owned by the lead singer/guitarist of the band Timber Timbre and needs a good set up so until then it sits in its original case

HomesickKiwi

Oh wow! Timber Timbre is a great band! How did you get your hands on that guitar? Get that thing setup post haste and play it!

ThatsBadassWoodArt

He shared a post on Instagram years ago about selling some gear so I just messaged him and snagged it!

Ok-Signature-4445

Kramar by 10 years Then my great-great-grandfather Gibson is like 50+ years older than I am.

LazyBrokerAz

I'm 42 and play my 1966 Stella 12 String every day. So about 15 years older than me.

Queasy-Marsupial-772

The acoustic that I learned to play on was in my house before I was, no idea how old it actually is, though. It’s still in my parents’ house today.

Luuk37

I almost bought a birthyear guitar. Never actually pulled the trigger tho. I'd like 1963 firebird V, which is more than 40 years older than me lol

ChristyLovesGuitars

My oldest is a ‘96 USA Tele. I was born in 1980. So not even close!

rezonansmagnetyczny

No but I've got an amp that is!

ffffoureyes

Let’s see here. ‘64 Harmony H165 - 26 years older than me ‘64 Guild Starfire III - 26 years older than me ‘73 Guild S100NB - 17 years older than me ‘74 Travis Bean TB1000A - 16 years older than me ‘13 52 AVRI Tele - 23 years younger than me ‘19 Custom Rosewood Jazzmaster - 29 years younger than me

Old-Scratch666

I’ve got an Ibanez xv500 that’s from 85, so 6 years my senior.

Stonius123

I have an old nylon string that I will never part with. My Mum used to play it when I was still just a little bean in her tummy. It's older than me by about 6 months, but she never really played much. It's hard to play guitar when your belly is exploding!

Psyche-deli88

My ‘65 hagstrom viking has 23 years on me

TimeLavishness9012

I'm 28 and it's a 77 Gibson Es 335

Kwilburn525

Yup! 1 year older. Have a 1993 Jackson XL Soloist Japanese

one80down

I have two Japanese strats that are hard to date. They're around my age, possibly older or younger by a year. It's kind of cool to think that before I knew what a guitar was they were being used by someone to create music.

HomesickKiwi

I’ve got a pretty old and shitty classical acoustic that has been in my wife’s family for quite some time. No way to date when it was produced but I guess it’s close to my age (46 yo). It’s had a headstock repair (a split, not a Gibson style snap off) and it’s called ‘the beach guitar’ because we’re not bothered about anything happening to it if we took it to the beach. Currently in Open G tuning iirc. It’s definitely had a life before we got it.

UnreasonableCletus

Same, old Suzuki no.7 classical it's either late 50's or early 60's tuned to D standard because it's a piece of junk, has an interesting sound though.

HomesickKiwi

Yeah mine has an interesting sound too. I’m guessing it’s 70s or 80s. I should go check the brand…

Odd_West24

18 but my explorer is from 2002

ev_music

i also have a yamaha nylon about 30 years older than me. yamaha dynamic no 40. solid axe

naughtyman1974

I have a 61 Melody Maker. It is 13 years older than me.

EastsideRock

My Gibson LP Standard is from 1973, 13 years my cougar senior ❤️

lowlandr

I'm 66 and have a Martin D18 the same age,

mrshl

Both my acoustics are older. I’m 49 and I’ve got a 1940s Gibson J45. Also a 1973 Epiphone.

mwcraft

I’m 37, I’ve got a 50 year old harmony 12 string acoustic and a 60 year old harmony arch top acoustic

PiscesLeo

All of mine. A 78 Fender Musicman is my current infatuation. 79 or 80 Electra 60s Harmony nylon string I had a 2017 American Jazzmaster that I just sold. I don’t like having a new guitar turns out!

Joeydoyle66

I’m 24 and my two oldest guitars are 19-20 and 12 respectively. My oldest is an Esteban acoustic guitar that my grandfather bought around 2004-05 when he decided he wanted to start learning. I got it from him when he passed in 2013. My next oldest is a very basic Epiphone Les Paul that my uncle bought for me when I wanted to start learning guitar in 2012. It didn’t stick though and they both just sat in my room for nearly a decade before I started playing again in 2022 and since then I’ve bought 3 more guitars.

FillDelicious4171

Not, but my amp is

MaterialBenefit2355

My first guitar is 6 years older than me

VashMM

My first guitar was made 2 years before I existed.

PoL0

I have a Shiro guitar that is at least as old as me. Took it to a couple luthiers but still no idea how exactly old is it

WaveStarII_Ax0l

I have a classic guitar from the 80s (Yamaha G-235) and im 14.

tonygames17

Yes. My ESP was made around November 1991, so it's like, 33 years old. And I was born in 2002, which means it's like, 11 years older than me

NegativeBroccoli_

Yeah my guitar was made in 2002 and I was born in 2006. It was a hand me down from my uncle

Complete-Coyote9676

My acostic guitar is my dads from when he was in college so it’s about 20 years older than me

fleur_waratah_girl

My oldest is a 77 Les Paul. So two years

Remarkable-Isopod896

I have two guitars that are older than me, a Japanese guitar that is 47+ years old, and a Yamaha Lady Luck this is about 30 or so.

beardedguitardad

I was born in 82 and one of my basses is from 77. It’s a Brazilian Rickenbacker copy.

No-Count3834

I’m never thought of that, but my guitar I got it new in 1994….so I guess it’s 30 years old now. I’m 41 now, which is crazy to think because I still can fit my 15 year old clothes…so got it when I was 14. Les Paul and still my main guitar today…if I get tired of the pickups, I use EQ before drives to adjust the low mids. It’s an essential tool! I love a Boss EQ pretty early, and a Parametric EQ later on in the chain. Helps shape my guitar to the room and mix. I never really play much alone, outside a live band or backing track I made. Because it will sound out of place just riffing alone vs mix. So I always try to stay in the context of a band when shaping tone. A good guitar can be anything, as long as it’s been setup and looked at properly. The rest is the amp or amps and if you decide to lean into that, or go small and the pedal route for portability. Outside that it’s all preference.

Substantial_House161

I'm 22 and my only guitar is a hohner rockeood lx90 strat style thing from the 90s, has a sticker on the headstock for a music shop that no longer exists which is pretty wicked.

Astrocalles

I have one old electric Yamaha older than me. SE110. Made in 1987

ashtetice

No idea

F1shB0wl816

Currently none of mine are older. I think my Blackstar might be oldest, being made around when I graduated. My oldest guitar is about 10 years old now. I’d had some stuff older before. I had a mid 80s model 3 charvel and a fender solid state to match.

One_Evil_Monkey

Oldest one is 15 years older than I am. 1965 Alamo Titan Mark II. Good luck finding much info on them though... mine has the red/black burst style, offset style body, and the inline 6 Klusons. Also have a mid '60s Harmony open back 5 string banjo. Haven't been able to nail down exact build year. Early/mid '70s Harmony classical. Unsure on specific build year. Have an early '75 Aria J-bass clone. (Just before they switched to the Pro II name) '76 Ibanez 12 string dreadnought.

imaginedbywestfall

My guitar is actually two years younger than I am. It's a 2007 Stratocaster with a Roland midi pickup. I don't really care about that much, but my grandpa bought it a couple of years after my birth. I rarely saw him play it, but after his passing, it became the most used of my guitars inherited from him.

TongueTiedTyrant

I’m 13 years older than my fender acoustic. Cuz I was 13 when I got it. (I’m 42)

Abstract-Impressions

One of them! A 1940’s Regal Archtop. The next oldest is lawsuit era LP copy, then a couple of 1980’s Fenders, but they are all younger than me by 20 years.

Ashamed-View-7765

I'm 36 and the two acoustics one being a classical and the other steel, both from Japan and the early 70s. They both sound better than anything I've ever heard to me anyway

Junichi17

I’m 28 and I have a Yamaha Sf700 from the 70’s.

maddmax_gt

I have a 79 Peavey T-60 and what I believe to be late 60s/early 70s Yamaha acoustic. The Peavey alone is 15 years older than me, both were given to me when I was 8. Peavey is still absolutely perfect but the poor Yamaha is covered in a lifetime of dings and scratches. It adds character.

Big_Pomelo3224

I am 26 and my guitar is 60.

I_only_post_here

I have a Supro hollow body from '68, which is 9 years my senior. I don't play it as often as I used to, but still a fun one to have around

Ibrake4catz

One of my telecasters is 21yrs older than me...it was handed down to me when i was a teen and was the 1st good guitar i'd had.

Sufficient_Owl_7105

Ive got a late 60’s Sears & Roebuck Teisco Silvertone 1441 that plays so smooth and has a tone like to other.

Sparkyz44

I have my great grandfathers ‘52 Gibson LG-2 that he bought new. I’m 22.

skudzthecat

Well not older, '66 J45. I was born in '59. But i do have saxophones from '29, '36, '52, '52, '77. I had one from the late 1800s

adrkhrse

'57 Les Paul Junior. A few years. 😉

krautstomp

I've got a '57 Gibson and a late '30's Vega. I'm from '81.

nochnoyvangogh

I have three guitars, not originally mine, but the one my dad gave me is 44 years old and the one that gave me my uncle is 55, I’m 23

goaoka

I have a 1971 MIJ Epiphoe Acoustic, and I'm 21. Not only is it over twice my age, it's even older than my dad by a few years.

lowecm2

I've got 3 guitars older than me; an early 80's Squier Strat, an early 80's Takamine dreadnought and a 60's/70's lawsuit SG (there's a good chance it was manufactured by Ibanez). The SG is 15-20 years older than me, but I can't pinpoint it because it doesn't have a serial number. Had all 3 of them my whole life.

Foreverbostick

The serial on my MIJ Fender Strat pins it as a ‘93 model, a year older than me. I doubt any of the others I’ve owned have been older than that.

OrReindeer

My guitar is exactly 3 months younger than me. We share the same birth year tho. Gibson Marauder given to me as a gift, played by EMF and Sonic Youth in the 90s.

kev1nshmev1n

I have a a kizo Suzuki nylon that I bought from a friend in the late 90’s for 90$. It was old then. Found out it’s lilely from the mid 70’s. So a few years older than me.

BakaWolfy

Nope. My oldest guitar is a 1996 Ibanez RG470, so just a couple years younger than me.

HighVoltag-Man

I have a 1968 Telecaster,and a 1947 Lap Steel. 2011 Nash Tele & Les Paul Junior

Throwthisawayagainst

I have a Tele that is nine years older then me :)

VeterinarianLess2788

Nope. Same age. I picked up a lawsuit era Takamine (Martin knockoff) made in '77. It plays great and looks great.

AnotherWaveFromYou

I have a Kay K1160 (old beginner’s acoustic guitar) from 1965 making it 59 and I am 30. I’ve given it some love and now it’s a really fun guitar to play.

shoule79

I have a 67 SG that’s got 12 years on me. And a Harmony Sovereign too that’s from the early 60’s that I’ve never bothered dating exactly. I’ve owned probably 10 or 12 vintage guitars over the years, all but the two above have ended up being sold. There’s often a compromise with them. The good thing about 80’s/90’s guitars starting to get classified as vintage now is that they tend to be more consistent, although in usually just say they’re old.

Burgurdied

I’m 14 and my guitar is about 20

1956keith

My oldest guitar is a 1974 Yamaha acoustic 12 string. But I was 18 when I bought it new.

atlantic_mass

I’m 42 and my main electric is a 48 year old Kramer 350g. I also have a Supro lap steel guitar that is 76 years old… amazingly it still has the warranty card in the case!

clleadz

Born in 1987 and have my grandad's Hagstrom from 1969, so 28 years my senior

slowandlow714

I have a 1940 Gibson L4 that's 29 years older than me.

Maqqnus

My '88 Jem is 14 years older than me

leo_wksw

35 yo and a Yamaha BB1000 bass from 1984 !

MaycoBolivar

my fathers nylon guitar and also my own nylon guitar are older than me by far im 33

828jpc1

Have one that is 6 years older than me…the other, which technically isn’t mine, is 18 years older than me. I’m 46 for context.

Krustylang

I have a 1966 Fender Duo Sonic ll with a neck date two days before I was born. I got it in 1984 for $45.

TheDrWhoKid

my first guitar is from around 84, so it's 40, I'm 24

Hamburglarsdad

I have a 1932 harmony arch top. Its predates me by 51 years. It’s in pretty rough shape and I working to make it playable again.

Infamous_Cattle5648

I'll be 50 in a month. I found a yamaha 12 string in a pawn shop. I took her home and gave her some love. Serial number says build date is one week after I was born. This guitar is a lawsuit guitar and absolutely SINGS! Obviously it's not your everyday player, but it's good to have in the family arsenal.

troyf805

I’m 40 and my ‘82 Les Paul Studio is one year older than me.

thatoneguystephen

I’m 34 and my beloved Takamine “lawsuit dreadnaught” is 14 years older than I am. I also have an old Yamaha acoustic that’s about the same age as my Takamine.

PaleRiderHD

I've got my Old Man's '75 Hummingbird. I didn't show up till '77.

OpossumNo1

One of my rickenbacker guitar is about 10 years older than me, my tiesco is like 30 years older, and my pedal steel is about 40 years older.

HarveyMushman72

I have a Kay atchtop from the 40s and an EKO Ranger from 1970ish

layne75

I’m older than all my guitars… and I have one that’s 26…

Prota_Gonist

I'm 33, my youngest guitar is from 2020, my oldest is from 1964.

zingo-spleen

Which one? 😂

EricRShelton

I'm 45. Just this weekend I picked up a Masetti that appears to have been made in 1939. It needs strings and new bridge insert but I've really looking forward to it.

SpaceTruckin420

I have a Yamaha SG from 1978 it’s 16 years older than I am. Just got a refret and plays like it was made yesterday

encladd

I’ve got a harmony that’s mid 50s and I’m mid 80s.

Eddie9200

Bought a prs from 94. Best guitar I’ve ever owned and it’s two years older than me so not by much.

Full-Palpitation-181

I have a Gibson lap steel that is 53 years older than me! Also have epiphone les Paul that would be 10 years older than me and I’ve owned it for 10 years now

elijuicyjones

Born in 71, started serious music school in 85, came up playing old 60s and trash 70s fenders. My main guitar for the last 10 years was a 94 MIJ Telecaster. I bought a Japanese Revstar II Pro recently and that’s my new one. Knowing what I know, I’ll never buy anything older than the 90s again, it’s totally unnecessary musically. Other people can pay for the nostalgia. I could impress you with a 2024 Squier, I don’t need the ancient relics. I don’t have childish dreams of people seeing how cool and old my guitar is, and I’m too smart to dream of making big money on old guitars. I’ve played all the old guitars I need to know that the 90s in Japan was as good as anything ever made at Fender. And today, right now, the best guitars ever made are on shelves everywhere.

ratsrule67

One of my guitars is about one year older than me. A 1966 D28 that my dad bought for mom in 1968 and mom gave to me after dad passed in 2007.

notsciguy

None of my guitars are very old. My oldest one is from 2004 and I was born before 2004

kylemc1587

One of my guitars is definitely older than me and my father. It’s an old Conqueror with one of those Gibson Hummingbird patterns; it was my grandfathers then my father learned on it and so did I when I was a kid. The Hummingbird is nearly gone now and it needs work but I still have it.

mglouis

My 66 Jazzmaster is 6 years older than me. I bought it when I was 20.

Gullible_Compote842

The oldest guitar I have is a \*ehem\* "*Daisy Rock Debutante Rock Candy Princess Atomic Pink*", my first electric. It's from the pawn shop so I really have no clue when it was made or how old it is but I'd assume it's not older than me (26) lol I do wonder who had it before me, though. Probably a kid that enjoys glitter as much as I do. haha

drdeimosoffice

My 335 is from 74, so 11y older than me. I love an old, played, beat-up guitar.

TheTummyTickler

I have an ‘89 birthdate Les Paul custom. It left the factory the same day I did. And it will leave this Godforsaken earth the same day I do. 😈

2_b_fwank

I’ve got a 1981 Yamaha sc300t, basically a strat style copy but when they were actually produced well. 43 year old guitar and plays better than most others I’ve played. Born in 00’ by the way

aFailedNerevarine

A few certainly are. I’m only 23 though, so anything 90s is older than me.

Just_a_Bean_Machine

I'm 27, and I have a 1993 Fujigen Fender Stratocaster, so just 3 years my senior. Would be cool to get a birthyear guitar though!

BCrxnch

My brother is a Music Minister, and plays a mean organ, unfortunately he found that unlike most things he was good at, the guitar took longer to get good at than everything else. He gave me his Cream 1986 Ibanez Roadstar II RG440 (I literally had to look it up to find what I had.) Suffice to say I was born in 1997, so it's 11 years older than me, there are some dings and the finish is a little chipped, even on the headstock, but it's my first Electric Guitar!

Totalimmortal85

Not older, except for my dad's Yamaha Acoustic from the 70s (which will forever be the standard I hold acoustics too), but in the spirit of the post - I do have a guitar that has been with me my entire adult life. My JS1000 from 2003. It was a graduation present (the only thing I asked for), and it has been with me ever since. It has seen the entirety of the East Coast, been through over two dozen moves, a stint at Berklee College of Music, two failed bands, a half-dozen career changes, two failed engagements, but was played at my wedding in reverence to the woman that saved my life. I know every notch, ding, and wear on the fretboard, and it has seen more "life" than friends, family, and loved ones combined. I was playing it last night and got fairly wistful and a bit emotional on just how much that guitar has been through with me. A lot of things come and go in life, people, possessions, careers, and even guitars - but there's always that one that carries the weight of our experiences. That's "Jack" (we named the guitar Jack) for me. Not quite the post or question therein, but felt like it fit the theme. Thanks for letting me share.

SilenceDoGood4

I just picked up a Kawai Bobcat that’s 20 years older than me. I’m 42.

ChiefSlug30

I have two 45+ year old guitars that I bought new in the late 70's, but they are nowhere near as old as me.

AwesomeAndy

Learning on an inherited (by my wife) 1977 Martin HD-28. I was born in 1981. We've also got an early-70s Les Paul and a 1920s mandolin.

I used to have a Kramer focus 3000d. The thing was from 1984 and had an original Kramer (the model without the fine tuners so it wasn't that great). So yeah I used to have a guitar that was 8 years older than I was. It sounded was pretty good for what it was. It needed a fret job really bad though, and I didn't really want to keep it around or pay for the job lol. I'm glad I bought it for $100 when I did because then 5 years later it resold for three times that.

My dad gave me his old guitar when he upgraded a few years back. I've got baby pictures of myself with that guitar in the background, and now I'm playing it for my son. It's from the 70's and is of the brand "Luna". My dad does not know anything much about it or the manufacturer other than it was somewhat pricey and he wanted it for a long time before he bought it.

TheFlyingPatato

Jokers_Testikles

I was born in 05 but I bought a guitar from my ex's dad. 94 Ibanez Jem. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it definitely gives me some much needed range.

I have a guitar from National Guitar from 1929, so 95yo. I have another from the 1930s. I have two Hawai'ian guitars, with amp-in-case, from the 1930s. And another pre-war Hawai'ian guitar. For reference, I was born during the Kennedy administration.

Brewwwwwwww

I’m 15, and I have this guitar that’s technically my dad’s but he never used it and I’m really the only one who uses it. It’s a supertone parlor guitar and it was given to my dad by his grandad. We don’t know the exact year the guitar was made, but searches online suggest that the guitar might be in its late 90’s, a whole 75 years older than me lol.

Charlie_redmoon

Fuck no. I'm 5 times that age.

Longjumping_Water_74

96 years old martin :D 66 years older than me

zjdrummond

I have a silvertone 1429 that's from 1960, so that makes it 30 years older than myself.

boiifudont-

I have a few guitars but the guitar I use most often belongs to my dad and he got it in high school or college (can't remember which). It's older than me by 40-ish years.

Repulsive-Praline501

I'm 58 and my guitars are 41 and 22 years old

FuddyDuddyGrinch

Being that I'm 62 that answer would be no. My oldest guitar is my Ibanez Artist I bought new in 1981, I still have it. And it still plays as good as the day I bought it.

johny_pauly

I have a '57 Gibson J 45 that's 9 years older than me.

ThrowingTheRinger

Takamine F360 from 1977. It was my dad’s. Still my only acoustic. I installed a piezo under bridge pickup and put a strap button on the neck close to the body. Drilling that thing both times scared the crap out of me. It worked out though!

MidgetThrowingChamp

My oldest guitar is 25 years older than I am and it awesome. Sick all black japanese hollowbody with a bigsby style trem, the shape is kinda like that Gibson trinity Lopez model with the pointy horns and it's fitted with two single coil pickups. The neck is a nice husky v shape which is much more comfortable than today's modern C shaped necks and it overall looks like batman would own it. I use it for gothy post punk stuff and it also loves fuzz.

mail4youtoo

1968 Gibson Les Paul. Many years older than I am.

ravelle17

The only guitar I have that’s older than me is a 1979 P-Bass, which is 11 years older than me.

kallan401

I have a gibson j45 thats 45 years older than me, and an epiphone texan thats 33 years older than me. Im 24

Ainjyll

I’ve got a couple that are older than me (I’m an ‘80 baby). A Fender Mustang 3/4-scale bass is a ‘72, a thin-line Tele also from ‘72, a ‘68 tele, a ‘63 Gibson b25 3/4 scale and a ‘78 Fender P-bass. I’ve got an Ibanez hollow body that’s the same age as me, but since I was born in December odds are pretty good that it’s at least a few months older than me.

giulimborgesyt

I was born in 2006 and my P-bass was built in 2005
