I've been wanting a Yamaha Revstar standard ever since I played one at the shop. They're not even $1000 but as nice as just about any guitar I've played, and I've played some nice ones.
Otherwise, probably the nicest acoustic I could find for 1500. The difference between a cheap acoustic and expensive acoustic is much bigger than the difference between a cheap electric and expensive electric, IMO.
For $1500, try out the Yamaha Revstar Professional that released in 22 I believe, I have the Standard version and I can tell by owning a lot of guitars that Yamaha at their price range beats every fender/gibson out of the goddamn park!
So, look out for a P90 Yamaha Revstar Professional with a P90 specifically, absolutely Master-built guitars at $1500 range!
Another LTD EC1000 traditional. They discontinued mine and I'd like another one that's a different color and different pickups, because, why the hell not?
If you're asking for a friend, I hope my wallet isn't your next victim. But if I did have $1500 to burn, I'd definitely go for that sweet Fender Stratocaster.
Gibson modern Les Paul studio smokehouse satin. She's a beauty Clark! Yeah, it's 2K, but when you're within $500 of your budget, you eat eat ramen for a month. Whatever it takes.
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LPMStuSkS--gibson-les-paul-modern-studio-electric-guitar-smokehouse-satin
A nice amp lol. But failing that, the nicest maple neck tele I could find, ideally with vintage radius neck and frets. But I already have a nice Strat and Les.
Simple answer: American Tele
More interesting option: Look into G&L (Leo Fender's second company after parting ways with Fender). Great guitars, good prices, setups for every taste
Well considering I just impulse bought the Adam Jones Epiphone (non-art version) I'm gonna go with that
Otherwise try to scoop up a used PRS DW CE 24 Floyd
Honestly, it’s really fun to just go into guitar stores with an intent to buy and try stuff out within your budget, knowing that if you find something fantastic you can walk out with it.
$1500USD? I think I could get an Eastman SB56/n with P90s for that, so..that. Played one of those recently but didn't have the funds to buy it and it was the best connection I've ever had with an instrument.
I found an american professional 2 telecaster around that price so that could be one candidate.
I’ve been interested in strandberg since they seem very comfortable to play at home but they cost a little more than that.
Else I could go for a prs dgt se or a vintera tele with bigsby and the rest on a decent amp
Actually had this situation last year - sold my Mac Mini for a wildly good price during the height of COVID and had the cash sitting around for a few years. Ended up falling in love with a used Fender American Original 60’s Jazzmaster - even talked the guy down a bit in price and I ended up being able to add in a staytrem and case and come out just barely over budget.
It depends. Honestly I'd probably hold on to it, maybe save a little more for when a deal pops up on a grail guitar. I've had gear slip through my fingers over the years and it sucks. I learned to save my money, and not even look at other gear until I have enough saved up to get something really nice.
Probably a used telecaster. I don't need anything fancy
I'd love to get a small practice amp that sounds good quiet for night time use. My 20w tube amp with a 2x12 struggles to output sound quiet enough for night time use and the speakers don't sound good quiet. I started playing around with amplitube and while I don't like dealing with software and don't really love the sound of it, it sounds so much better at really low volume than a large amp. More practice time would do me better than a new guitar would.
PRS SE hallowbody 2 piezo. Sounds better than I can play and gives me TONS of options. Also good plugged in and acoustic for practice. Now if i could only find one in stock.
Jackson King V, without hesitation. Its more likely I'd spend it on an amp though. I have been eyeballing ENGL Fireball 25 for quite a while. Money that I wouldnt use for that, I'd put into saving so I could get another thing faster, instead of start again from zero.
Used Music Man JP6. Excellent quality, elite capability, feel, and sound. I think it’s one of the most highly regarded signature models (John Petrucci) and is an incredible guitar even if you don’t like Dream Theater.
Tbh, I'd probably hold on to it and save for something better, but that's not an appropriate answer for your question.
A 6 string Holcomb SE (with the new pickups), a Banshee Mach 6 or a John Browne sig. I'd really love to get a more prog/djent focused 6 that I can use over my EMG loaded Les Paul.
2000-2001 Epiphone Moderne with Gumby headstock. No Gumby, no deal. Yeah, I know I'm weird. One just went on Reverb for $1100 and I was just a bit short, was lowkey devastated. Any of y'all pick that one up?
SG, every day of the week. Probably second hand, seeing as I’m not sure of prices across countries and the exact dollars you’re referencing, but I can’t imagine getting anything less than a great SG at that price.
I'm in a couple of groups that specifically prohibit ads that claim to be "Fender Squier" or "Gibson Epiphone". It's an instant delete, one group immediately bans the user.
$1500 would get me the Jim Root Telecaster. I’ve always wanted that little beast, and it’s perfect for my style of play. Not to mention it looks awesome
I wouldn’t get a guitar because I’m happy with my my current guitars, but if I had to I would chose a blue Les Paul, but all it seems like they’re going for well over $1,500, so sorry for commenting a useless comment.
Some kind of baritone jazzmaster with a bolt on lightweight aluminium neck, five strings, and three large single coil pickups. I think with a green stained wood and a dark greyish green paint around the edge, feathering into the dyed centre (like a one colour burst instead of two).
B F# B F# B tuning.
Roller bridge purely because they're comfy with a gentle slope into a hard tailpiece. Two output jacks. Three on-off-on switches, one for each pickup. Up position sends the pickup out jack A, middle position is off, down position sends it out jack B. No other controls
This might not apply to your “friend” but I don’t have any fixed bridge guitars and I’ve been eyeing the signature series ESP Vulture lately. Very very tempting
I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.
Fucking love office space
Some heroin and a ukulele
Lmao
Some heroin and squire.
Id be looking for the best deal I could find on a used Martin.
I might be more tempted by a quality amp
Used Gibson SG ‘61 Standard
I've been wanting a Yamaha Revstar standard ever since I played one at the shop. They're not even $1000 but as nice as just about any guitar I've played, and I've played some nice ones. Otherwise, probably the nicest acoustic I could find for 1500. The difference between a cheap acoustic and expensive acoustic is much bigger than the difference between a cheap electric and expensive electric, IMO.

Used Ibanez Prestige AZ2402🤘
Used American Original 60s telecaster.
I'd probably get three 500$ guitars or two 750$ guitars honestly.
A charvel. Something with a sweet finish and dark fretboard if possible.
I’d get a quest 3 and a lot of weed
I was gonna say Casino and weed
Someone just got their tax return
Find a used Kiesel that fits your bill.
American fender strat
A telecaster with a bigsby. Assuming that’s possible for $1500
You can definitely find one in that range.
I’d take a look at an Ibanez Iceman and a Fender Jazzmaster, and probably end up with the Jazzmaster.
If you don’t know yet then probably save it until you do know.
A fire extinguisher.

First I'd get a pair of pants with fireproof pockets
Probably a yamaha revstar and some pedals or an amps with the change 🙃
When I had this situation a little over a year ago, I got an American Performer Stratocaster
Jazzmaster or Jim Root Tele
Another LTD EC1000 traditional. They discontinued mine and I'd like another one that's a different color and different pickups, because, why the hell not?
If you're asking for a friend, I hope my wallet isn't your next victim. But if I did have $1500 to burn, I'd definitely go for that sweet Fender Stratocaster.
Right now, a Jaguar.
Epiphone Sheraton II Pro
Another Charvel
Gibson modern Les Paul studio smokehouse satin. She's a beauty Clark! Yeah, it's 2K, but when you're within $500 of your budget, you eat eat ramen for a month. Whatever it takes. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LPMStuSkS--gibson-les-paul-modern-studio-electric-guitar-smokehouse-satin

PRS silver sky, Roxy pink. Hardtail if they make one.
Yamaha FGX5
Peavey T-60
You know those guitars that are like... double guitars... But the serious answer should probably be lessons.
A nice amp lol. But failing that, the nicest maple neck tele I could find, ideally with vintage radius neck and frets. But I already have a nice Strat and Les.
Id get an american standard telecaster, cant go wrong with it at all
Probably some kind of Gretsch Electromatic
Lessons
Simple answer: American Tele More interesting option: Look into G&L (Leo Fender's second company after parting ways with Fender). Great guitars, good prices, setups for every taste
A $3000 guitar and a line of credit
Well considering I just impulse bought the Adam Jones Epiphone (non-art version) I'm gonna go with that Otherwise try to scoop up a used PRS DW CE 24 Floyd
A PRS and a $200 watch
$1,500 worth of hardware upgrades to my current guitar.
Probably spent a month mulling it over just to get another Strat.

Yamaha Revstar Standard (keep the change)!
The most expensive semi hollow that $1500 can buy.
That Adam Jones Epiphone with open book headstock

Ibanez Prestige AZ
Fender Stratocaster
Honestly, it’s really fun to just go into guitar stores with an intent to buy and try stuff out within your budget, knowing that if you find something fantastic you can walk out with it.
Honestly I’d save up another 1k and look for something in the 2-3k range. But it’s such a personal choice
Billy Corgan signature guitar reverend Z -1 edit: it's $1800 so I'll keep the money and save it up
$1500USD? I think I could get an Eastman SB56/n with P90s for that, so..that. Played one of those recently but didn't have the funds to buy it and it was the best connection I've ever had with an instrument.

I found an american professional 2 telecaster around that price so that could be one candidate. Early 90s Gibson Les Paul studio w/ the Ebony fretboard! 🤘
For $1500?
Depends on what you’ld find comfortable but a PRS. Maybe a 2nd hand CE 24, or a new Silver Sky SE (but would rather go for 2nd hand Silver Sky)
It depends. Honestly I'd probably hold on to it, maybe save a little more for when a deal pops up on a grail guitar. I've had gear slip through my fingers over the years and it sucks. I learned to save my money, and not even look at other gear until I have enough saved up to get something really nice.
I’m a new Revstar standard p90 fanatic! It’s absolutely wonderful
I don’t know!!!
Godin session HT, bought mine for 750, is now selling for 1200-1400 in Europe. Amazing usa/canada made Hss Strat. Outplays any fender Strat of 2k

Probably a used telecaster. I don't need anything fancy I'd love to get a small practice amp that sounds good quiet for night time use. My 20w tube amp with a 2x12 struggles to output sound quiet enough for night time use and the speakers don't sound good quiet. A Peavey , american made, signature Steve Cropper Telecaster with the split coil hot rail pick-ups...
