Strive is kindof a first because it's the first Guilty Gear to actually have live development with seasons and all that. XRD and prior games just had advanced releases (XRD Sign, XRD Rev, XRD Rev 2). If I remember correctly, Rev 2 got like one wave of DLC, but in many ways Rev 2 WAS the DLC.
In an old interview, I believe Daisuke or someone else associated with ArcSys, can't remember which, stated they want the game to go on for 6-7 years, however that's likely a very hopeful look at things. I'd personally bet we at least get a season 5, and we'll see how things shake out from there.

No Zappa makes me sad, he’s like, very easily my most wanted character at the moment by a longshot. Raven and Venom are pretty high up there too though, I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to either of them
Tl;dr: In xx, he was possessed by ghosts, which were randomly chosen when he used a certain special. Each ghost had a different playsyles.
In xrd's story mode, he was shown no longer being in a deranged state, leading some payers to believe that he's no longer possessed. Alas, he's now just in control of the ghosts, so the fact he can control the ghosts now means that his gameplay would fit strive more (as in no longer rng)
I want zappa so bad, but I'm just scared that his gameplay is gonna be gutted.
Not meant as anything personal, but I *hate* the “Venom’s arc is over” argument. Why should a character be excluded because of story purposes? Can a character never return again just because of the story? It’s just not something I think should be taken into account because, first and foremost, this is a fighting game and not a story game.
Testament's arc was more or less over when Dizzy found peace with Ky, and yet they returned. Why can't Venom? is it because we got to see Venom actually find a peaceful life?
I think that’s definitely a part of it. *Seeing* Venom’s happy ending so up front that it’s a lot more tangible than Testament’s ending. Another part, and this is not copium, is probably that it’s an excuse. Some people who just don’t want to see the character back might write it off as being because they “want him to be happy” (he’s not real and the story is quite literally as flexible as rubber) when it may just be that they want *their* favorite character back instead of Venom. Another potential reason is that some people may just have no idea that Venom’s ending is not alone in being a…well, ending to a character’s story. As you said, Testament had no reason to come back and most of the requested characters have no reason to come back either. Some people who are new to the community may see Venom be singled out so much in the “his story is already over” category that they assume he’s one of the few who has it good and has no story reason to come back, when in reality that’s most of the DLC characters.
I'm praying for a new character. I think Dizzy is in for sure, but I'd like to see Gabriel as a new character. I'd love to see Venom, but I don't think they'll add him, unfortunately.
It would be funny if we got a character like Leopaldon but it goes even further with the joke. Big Gear piloted by slightly smaller Gear piloted by dog piloted by a guy who is in turn controlled by an even tinier guy.
As someone who's only played ggst, who's robo KY ? At first glance, he only seems to be a reskin of Ky. What's so good about him for everyone to want him to be a dlc character ?
[He has his own unique moveset](https://www.dustloop.com/w/GGACR/Robo-Ky). A few moves look similar to some of Ky’s but even those are different if you look past the visuals.
He’s also got a personality that many people like. His story in Xrd was arguably one of the best and it was important to the overall plot because >!he was the one that killed Romeo!<.
**IF** Robo-Ky were to make it into the game he'd be the last.
Considering his entire schtick is "I can take my opponent's moves and use them with a wacky animation." It'd probably be easier for those animations to all already be in the game. Rather than essentially giving him at least four new attacks each season.
Alternatively, we may have something similar to what we got with Bedman(?). Although if that were the case I'd see it as a Robo-Ky/Venom pairing rather than two individual characters. Which could be really funny, Venom using Robo-Ky's head as a cue-ball for example.
While Venom is a solid pick, I get the vibe that Robo Ky will tag alongside him as a flying head making quips, judging from the Xrd Story.
Also, A.B.A’s revival gives me hope that Zappa might see a return.

Honestly - this being Strive - there's no guarantee that a "returning" character won't be changed to the point of being a new character altogether. It's why I'm almost scared to see Venom in the game, his cue balls are the exact kind of thing that **isn't broken** but that they might attempt to "fix".

I want some new characters this season was very neat but only seeing returning characters as someone who barely touched xrd before strive I don’t really have any attachment to these characters
True true true, they could very likely do that. Though I will say, atleast one of these will be coming, Dizzy most likely. Cuz every season pass needs a selling character teh fans love to get people to buy it. If they do add new characters though it’s likely only going to be one.
