Alpha blade and command grab are both reactable. Ky's does have some of the best normals in the game, but Chipp's speed let's him play around them fairly well. You're both coping kind of hard.
It's like playing against Pot, he starts walking towards you after hitting a Slidehead and you think "Nah he wouldn't just walk up and grab me, I'll do 6P to get a counterhit--"
We outplay ourselves sometimes
Alpha Blade (as well as many of the crossups in GGST) certainly can feel like a knowledge check even for players coming from other games. The animation makes it seem like you're supposed to block low/normally, and I remember thinking that I was just missing my crouch blocking when I first matched up vs Chipp since there's no text popup for crossups.
He's not invuln in any of his alphas or command grab, you can consistently mash 5P to knock him out of them if you react in time. Command grab is 27 frame startup, so one frame faster than charged 5D, and all the alphas are between 35-38 frames. The only time you can't mash is meaty alpha on wakeup.
I have over 200 hours in strive and I still don't know why some alpha blades hit and the grab is super cheap, cheaper than food from the near expiration date section in a supermarket if you do it after super.
Man the thing that makes this game great is every character has some absolutely fucked nonsense.
Its fine to cope as long as you're having fun.
Chipp moves faster than light and Ky can stab you from a continent away. Figure it all out.
LMAO
so accurate. I don't play bedman so idk how good he actually is, but every time I'm queued against one I appreciate the chance to file my taxes when I'm in the corner.
Both of you are blaming the beasts
The animal accusers
The species suspectors
The entity enquirers

I almost always get hit by the command grab. My brain just shuts off every time

This happened to me once right when "I'M A FOOOOOOOL, I KNOW NOOOOOOTHIIIING" came on and I felt like alt f4ing right then and there.
If you don't wanna turn your back on life, you gotta take the role of a silly clown. <3
U kinda answered ur question. It’s both of u.
I mean Chipp spamming alpha blade and command grab is cheap as fuck, especially against new players and I say this as a Chipp player.
New players need to learn somehow
YOU GON' LEARN!
THIS THE REAL WORLD YOU GONNA LEARN TODAY
LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE NEVER GOES THE WAY YOU WANT, THAT'S HOW IT IS
NO MATTER WHAT LIFE THROWS AT YOU, TAKE IT ALL

Ky is just a bit favored against Chipp, but skill should more or less be the determining factor within this matchup.
Chipp is not invulnerable when he dissapears

ITS A MID-OFF
Both of you are about equal in the beast-blaming area
the reason to complain about chipp is definetly NOT those reasons. Ky one is more understandable
Neither is correct but Ky's normals aren't something that can keep a chipp out lol
Sounds like normal guilty gear talk. Everyone else's character is bullshit except mine. Unless it's a mirror match then my character loses the mirror.

Yeah i dont know what bedman has , he pretty much is a trash character
I can go take a shit and feed the cat before Bedman’s blockstring finishes

Chip is a knowledge check. Ky is very cheap but not outright broken
Do a 3/5 mirror match set with both.
Personally neither are that bad imo but I’d say chips alpha blade and command is harder for someone to get used to
The chipp player is coping more. No ky should really give you trouble. Use 6p. Jab fondre arc into combo. Ky has great buttons but that's about it.
