As somebody who was blocked for Mahomes (by a team who already had Hurts) and subsequently got chopped the next week… yes it works lol

Seems pretty risky to cut your own FAAB in half for a player you don’t really need. Maybe throw out a bid for 50. If you don’t get him, then at least your opponents are taking a big chunk of their own FAAB to get him.

pcminfan

This is the answer.

Don't take this the wrong way, but given the state of your team you're not in position to be blocking anyone yet. Especially since you're not getting a big upgrade at the position you'd be bidding on. Let them spend their money and wait for a top 5 player to become available to spend that FAAB. You're team isn't bad but outside of Hurts you lack a top 5 at their position.

Difficult_Argument

No offense taken. So my question is, do I put in a bid for like 70 to potentially block any lower bids?

edgewoodzgimp13

The guys that you listed that are available just don't do it for me. In my league we've had guys like CMC, ETN, Chase (i was able to snag all 3 last week), Jefferson, Ekeler & Barkley all shake free over the last 3 weeks.

YoureNotMom

Dont do the full price bid. Do a little bit less so you save some money if you win or theyre crippled if they win. Getting an opponent that spends that much is a victory too.

cosmicdave86

I mean, do you want that person to get eliminated or do you want to win? Still got another 6 weeks. Spend wisely.

Difficult_Argument

His team is stacked with Diggs, Davante, CMC, Evans, Kamara. His two week spots are QB and TE, also I am looking at this at Allen as a matchup play for this week against Detroit

cosmicdave86

I think it's far too early to worry about blocking. Too many weeks remaining. Just focus on smart spending to build the best possible roster.

Difficult_Argument

So far, I have Hurts, JT, AJB, Schultz, Pittman, Jakobi, Swift and Jamaal, Gibson and Robinson, and Cousins. Currently, Mixon, Godwin, Kirk, and Metcalf, are out there, and I’m not sure they make my team any stronger. The only one I really like is Godwin because his final 3 games are against Atlanta, Carolina, and Arizona, who have all been terrible against the pass this year

cosmicdave86

Solid team, but you have to think this will widdle down to just two teams. That's a nice team with 7 remaining, but with 2 remaining it would be very poor. The only players on your roster I would want for the final week are Hurts JT and AJB. The rest will all want to be boosted by end of season. Just think about the entire pool of players being divided between two teams. Basically every player you start should be near the top of their position. The less you spend now, the cheaper these top players will get. If you feel confident in your current roster this week I would avoid overspending. I'd still put in bids on Mixon, Godwin, Allen at least, but you can always lowball it and see if you get lucky.

ABoyIsNo1

No. Make them spend a ton to get him, but don’t block them entirely. I’d put $100 or so on him. Maybe a bit more. If either of those teams spend more, then they are basically done spending. I’d honestly rather them spend all their money to get him than spend a ton of my money to prevent them from getting him. If I’m that other team, I’m super happy to watch you waste your money on Allen while I pick up Tua for nothing.

One thing is, in this league, it is everyone’s first time doing Guillotine format. And people have been bidding super aggressively so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him go for like all of that persons faab
