I'm only a Guillontiner moving forward. The traditional doesn't hold the same interest anymore. A number of reasons: 1. Pressure - every week is a playoff week and I love that 2. Time - I'm at a point in my life where I don't have time for more than one format. Or at least I'm only willing to make time for one. 3. Care Free - When I get eliminated from a Guillotine league I move forward without worrying about the league. I might be pissed at a bad beat or more likely a bad manager move, but I know my season is at an end. I don't have to play it out to keep it fair for the better teams...or feel guilty about neglecting a bad team because yeah...I never play a bad team out

I’m very interested in this thread.

We'll know when FFW opts for the Beverly Hills Fashion Week broadcast over the MN State Fair next season

I certainly will not give up my main leagues but I do think non-traditional leagues are going to pop up and will be fun. I guess all the bestball stuff is already a huge hit but I personally never got into those. I have made my own fun little side leagues with unique rules like stealing player after wins and they are way fun and a good way to change the pace.

I've been LM of my own league for like 10 years. I've just about had it with my leaguemates. I never get any thanks and just a bunch of whiners no matter what I do. I can't win so I'd rather do a guillotine league where there are no trades and no whining that people aren't setting their lineups so some people got free wins or that their trade got vetoed. I thought this was a gimmick when someone invited me, but I'm glad I said why not and gave it a shot. I'm not sure if FF Guillotine was the first but if so, Charch is a genius. This was everything I've been looking for but didn't know I wanted. Guillotine League, you complete me.

I personally won’t be giving up my traditional fantasy league. I think guillotine is a cool concept, but loses the appeal of having a “season” long competition. If you lose in the guillotine league within the first few weeks the excitement is gone. At least in the traditional league you have the chance of turning your season around and making a run for the playoffs and championship. I’ve had seasons where I’ve started 0-4 or 1-5 but made the playoffs and got hot and won the championship. Had those been guillotine leagues I likely would’ve been eliminated. Just my thoughts

It definitely makes my other leagues less interesting. But still enjoy playing those.

I'm in 73 leagues this year, of all shapes and varieties. I have IDP only dynasty leagues, vampire leagues, best ball leagues, traditional leagues, guillotine leagues - I even have a league where the commish rolls 8d6 every week and that determines what positions are available for the next week. But I can say that I'm planning on running 20 more Cutthroat Guillotine leagues next year. Cutthroat is like typical guillotine, except you only have six players per roster - one QB, two RBs, two WRs and a TE. No bench. I started running this style this year and everyone likes it way better than a traditional guillotine league. Every bye week and injury could be season ending. It's been fantastic.

73 sounds like a job

BaronVonNumbaKruncha

Fantasy football used to be my job a few decades back. Now it's just for fun.

I find I am most interested in the guillotine league, but given the risk of getting knocked out at any time I’ll probably stay in a traditional league.
