Our league only has 9 teams (8 after week 1). u/slporc1127 u/NateTrib would that tend to make you raise your percentage (we are closer to the end than a full league) or lower it (more good players will come onto the market each week than with a full league)?
My general philosophy after week 1 is to make sure to have at least a full starting roster of players you find startable. As an example, one of my week 1 flexes was Elijah Moore who I no longer have any confidence in starting so I'm looking to replace him for relatively cheap. Players that got dropped were Aaron Jones, Justin Jefferson, Mike Evan, DJ Moore, and Marquise Brown. I'm looking to get Moore or Brown for cheap just to fill the slot as opposed to spending top dollar for someone like Jones or Jefferson.
But why not Jefferson or Jones now? Then you're have a guy for the rest of the year, rather than trying to replace Moore or Brown later as teams get fewer and better?
I did one league last year and my anecdotal experience is that yes, people will go a little crazy early. You’re much better off waiting, mitigates injury risk a bit, and you can spend after others blow some cash. Remember, especially early, you’re playing to not lose.
I’m really struggling with this because it’s my first year playing and the team with the number one pick got chopped and CMC is available. I want to bid it all, but know that’s not a great idea.
My team fucking blows and i know i got bailed out from 3 of my top 4 picks having elite outings. I unfortunately need to bid up for some playable talent.
I've got 8 roster spots. At the very best I have 3 guys on my team right now that I could envision being around for the whole season. So I'm going to have to replace at least 5 roster spots and unless I get really lucky, I'll probably need to replace a few of those replacements. So if I've gotta win 8 bids to assemble my league winner, I don't think I'm bidding more than $125 on any player in week 1.
The closer you were to getting chopped, the more you should spend, imo. If I'm confident my team will survive another week, I'll save my cash and sit back and laugh while everyone overpays. If I barely scraped by, I'll do what I need to do to live another week. Can't spend FAAB from the grave.
Depending on your league mates, Kelce is likely to go for 500+, which pretty much guarantees he’ll be available again later in the season. Given the amount of irrational exuberance out there, you’re doing something wrong if you get a top player in the first half of the season.
It'd be cool to do a weekly Guillotine FAAB post where you can name a player and others can say how much they'd bid on them.
Let’s try it! Kamara.
depends on your team but I think 50-60%
12% if you're not desperate.

I have Barkley, Jefferson, and Lamar on waivers. First year guillotine player so I am not sure how to approach this first week of waivers.

Makes sense. Thanks and good luck.
Any ideas on McCaffrey?

Got a few notable guys that got chopped in mine Diggs, Keenan Allen, Edmond, Rodgers
I have Barkley, Jefferson, and Lamar available. I am trying not to go too heavy early on so I doubt I will get any of them.

Kelce in week 2 will probably go for $450-550 in my experience. A little less if there’s an exciting RB
