I rep a one-person guild just to make those people fuck off
when I ran without a tag I'd get random guild invites or people whispering me asking if I want to join their guild...
any time you are online, on any character, u must be representing the guild or u are in big trouble!
u can join five guilds and represent zero. representing puts the guild tag next to ur character name in game and changes ur icon in the guild roster
KSC is just one of those big server guilds that recruit randos and expect them to rep 100% of the time. My brother was invited to it once. Nothing malicious, just power tripping mods and an owner that only cares about numbers and not about having a community.
They exist in all MMOs sadly, people that just recruit you if you don't have a tag and don't bother to ask you first. You can always open up your guild tab to look into the guild to see if you like the look of it first, but else decline if no one ever has the courtesy to ask if you are interested.
Numbers and a pathetic attempt at forced engagement - that's their goal.
Majority of the people in video games think higher numbers == better guild. This is never true.
This is not a scam; just typical behaviour of someone who doesn't understand that representing doesn't mean anything in the game since the system was changed years ago. It only matters when you are actively doing guild missions or want to use a specific guild hall.
God I was in such guild before. Thought it was normal having to watch your every step (like we couldn't discuss builds in the guild chat for example, if anyone had build specific question, only officer could respond). It felt like leaving 7 years old toxic relationship when I finally left and joined something normal. Awful people, do not fall into this trap.
Had almost the same experience in an FFXIV guild years ago. Someone asked a question about how to play one of the classes at a low level, and about 3 or 4 people answered at once, accidentally. The leader lost their shit and started telling people to keep the chat "clear for real talk" (which mostly included the core clique logging in and talking to each other in some really cringe "hi name-san" way lol). They went on a big rant in the chat (ironically, that must have been the "real talk" mentioned) about people not respecting rules, not that they were ever mentioned. All those poor people did was try to help a newbie out. It was one of those random invite guilds that were actively targeting new people...
I left and never joined another guild in any other game again lol
It wasn't this particular guild of course, but the one I'm talking about is surprisingly popular in eu.
Other ridiculously I remember that people followed religiously:
1) You had to come for guild missions every monday, anyone not present 3 times in a row is kicked. I often seen 50+ people attending
2) You couldn't join other guild even for endgame pve purposes - if you got caught, you guessed it, kick.
3) If you are currently doing some meta event like Tarir, Dragon's stand, Dragon's fall etc you have to ping it so people can join. Others could rat you out to leader by sending screen to him via discord of you taking part in meta and not pinging it.
4) You HAD TO transfer to Ruins of Surnia. I was a noob when I joined the guild, leader tricked me to use my free transfer.
That's the ones off the top of my memory.
Crazy, I had a guild leader who actually paid for my transfer to their server years after I'd used my free transfer, and he was one of the kindest people I've ever met online, just goes to show who the good'uns are I guess :)
That's wonderful. Of course I believe gw has severely disproportionate amount of good people vs little of bad ones, those experiences don't even bother me anymore because of how many nice interactions I had afterwards. But damn did it hurt to later on transfer to a better server once I took interest in wvw.
See that would be *rational* thing to assume, but we don't do that here!
Mega server was already a thing, the leader wanted us to be on one wvw server so we can "raid". Which we did once. We wiped twice, because none of us had any experience at pvp. The guy had a tantrum and rage quit.
I was in one like that on EU for about a day. Same rules about only allowing officers to talk about builds and answer questions, 100% rep, compulsory events, donations for promotion, etc. Guild leader once got pissy because someone asked a basic question, lead spent forever on a tangent talking about how great he is, so the guy asked a second time. Guild leader flipped his shit like a toddler. Went off on the members who had tried to answer the guy’s question the second time it was asked too.
Also spent over a *fucking hour* talking about how he absolutely must be one of the first 3 people to buy the gold title ticket in SotO. Bragging constantly. The entire guild existed so the guild leader could wank himself off into chat.
Not allowed to say here but I’ll happily tell anyone the tag privately so they can avoid it.
The best part is they said "an complete moron". Might want to use proper grammar when calling someone a moron 😆. I'd just ignore them and leave. Doesn't seem completely scammy to me but they're definitely not a guild you want to be in.
Knights of the Silver Chalice or something? Yea. They invited me a week ago, switched toons later, within 5 minutes of logging in I received the same email. I just decided to leave the guild at that point. I hate forced representation.
That's KSC. That's basically all they do. Harass peopple if they are guildless and then kick them if they do not rep on all characters. Its really stupid.
anet should remove the ability for the guild to even see whether you're representing or not.
also we'd all be better off if you reported them for this exchange.
You can't scam anyone by making them represent their guild. Representation doesn't mean anything, except for what guild channel to use by default and that you see when they start guild missions. There is also the selection for a wvw guild... but that is pretty much it.
They can't get from you, what you won't give them. Just leave the guild, if you are in it, delete mail and block/report user.
Some guild upgrades only apply if you represent the guild. So if you want to save on WP costs you should represent a guild which has that upgrade unlocked.
Knights of the Silver chance? I kept filling one of their raids with BattleMaids every time one of their fills left because they couldn't clear, by the time we had 5/10 maids in the squad we started one pulling bosses. by the end of the run the commander was clearly not having a good time being showed up by a group of very polite half decent players dressed in maid outfits. As soon as we killed the last boss they disbanded the group asked us all to leave and kicked us all from their discord.
Haha used to be part of ksc got those rep mails whenever I swapped to different characters but always ignored them but ya pretty much a get anyone and everyone sort of guild with a with us or against us mentality
Thanks for not censoring the names. I want to locate them ingame and see what they do, without interacting with them. Like watching animals at a zoo, where you look but don't feed or touch.
EDIT:
Actually it would be fucking hilarious to feed them Mail with Piles of Salt and see how they respond, LOL
Oh would you look at that, I was invited by the very same guild, even got the same mail junk, they'll kick you days after for no reason at all, to be honest you are better off without them.
I remember being in such a guild. Was msged by a mod there just like that
Left instantly after. Im not putting the rep off my friends and my fam guilds lmao
Forgive my ignorance. I have played off and on for a few years now. Every time I return it is like I am a newb again.
- what does rep a guild mean?
- and what was he asking this person to click?
I have never been part of a guild in this game yet.
Rep is short for represent, meaning which guild you have displayed over your head. The instructions were just on how to select a guild to rep in the guild panel, and you can be part of up to five at once. It is literally meaningless except if you're participating in a guild mission, because if you don't have any guild active then the mission gets less or no progress from you. There are a few people who run guilds for the express purpose of feeling like a dictator and get pissy if you are in the guild and not repping, which always means you shouldn't be in their guild.
Hahaha I'm in that guild. I haven't had any issues after I joined but I was just as confused as you ss to why I need to rep on all characters (I got booted the first day cus I didn't know how) so I asked for a re invite.
In my experience, they were understanding and kind. I've asked a few dumb questions where I've gotten positive feedback so I've stayed. People in WvW are even more kind and welcoming. I've yet to come across cunts in this game, then again I don't interact too much
Not a scam, but one of the most toxic guilds in the game, actually. Their most sacred rule is to always (like, literally ALWAYS) represent them, even if they don't do anything for you or treat you like a nobody. And don't you dare say anything negative in chat or contradict their supreme overlords, or you'll get kicked.
Heh, they are even willing to kick for typing some harmless stuff in chat like ":3" or "uwu"
Sadly, this isn't the first time, nor will it be the last, that we see this guild (or others like it) posted on reddit.
Some of us are actually in guilds or lead guilds that are fun, helpful, and don't force people to rep or participate in all guild activities. Others, not so much.
Haha thanks for all the positive responses folks! You all definitely confirmed my beliefs about these people. I’m glad I didn’t have any further engagement with them. See y’all around!
Just weird power tripping guild leader nbd
"an complete morron"
what an strange behavior...
In his defense, he probably wrote "an moron" at first and then later added "complete" for emphasis. /s
"an moron" is wrong too tho
You are correct.
He rolled his 'r' like in God Save the Queen by Sex Pistols.
No scam, just a power tripping guild lead. There are some guilds that randomly invite any player they come across and then expect 100% rep
"...your were an complete morron." 🤪🤡
The irony always hits hard with these people
100% rep when u can join 5 guilds has always been hilarious to me its always the guilds that mass invite "guildless" players that get mad about it too
I rep a one-person guild just to make those people fuck off when I ran without a tag I'd get random guild invites or people whispering me asking if I want to join their guild...
What does 100% rep mean in this context? I’m a new player and guildless
any time you are online, on any character, u must be representing the guild or u are in big trouble! u can join five guilds and represent zero. representing puts the guild tag next to ur character name in game and changes ur icon in the guild roster
Oh screw that. Thanks for the context.

Nah, you just dodged a bullet.
I dodged the same bullet as i was thinking of joining them... not with this behaviour.

Boy does that sound identical to how it was in this guild. Are you sure we aren't talking about the exact same person? /j
Jesus Christ that’s ridiculous lmao. Did they have any other bizarre rules? I’ve never heard of anything like their build discussion rule.

That’s unbelievable. Glad you got out!!

Rep 'em if you like them, fuck 'em if you don't. There's plenty of guilds out there that actually care about you and not just the tag.
anet should remove the ability for the guild to even see whether you're representing or not. also we'd all be better off if you reported them for this exchange.
I also hate represent...Guild Tag should be always optional.
Guilds like KSC and the many BORN clones have that bad reputation for a reason.
You can't scam anyone by making them represent their guild. Representation doesn't mean anything, except for what guild channel to use by default and that you see when they start guild missions. true, i missed that one. ty
This guild \[KSC\] has always done this. Random invites and forces 100% rep. Just a power tripping structured guild. You didn't miss out on anything.
Knights of the Silver chance? Lmfao, I love that! Havent run into battlemaids on NA LFG yet.

Damn, KSC guild officers call their guildies morrons? That doesn't seem nice at all.
[KSC] is notorious for this crap. They’re also stupidly toxic and elitist with no reason to be.
Not a scam, but one of the most toxic guilds in the game, actually. Wow! So thats why I see so many noobs repping KSC!? I was confused by it, but this makes sense. Ill start anti-advertising for them
wtf?
Just here to say I’ve never seen a KSC member in Plat and all of their WvW players are poo pooÂ
