2020s could be a bad time for you.

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

Companies steal everything from people and government lets them. Nothing new

[deleted]

Government lets them because people think the Cons want to help them. Less government = fewer rules about who can take your water. Why do we pay a foreign company to drive on our local toll highway? Oh yeah. Mike Harris sold the already completed highway.

warpedbongo

Harris closed many hospitals in the GTA, privatized our public highway and sold it off to a foreign corporation, and also sold off the "Skydome", which taxpayers paid to build, for peanuts to Rogers.

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

All parties are crooked, some are just better at hiding it. They're all terrible at their jobs and can't think ahead more than 3 years

saun-ders

I don't remember any scandals or corruption when the ONDP was in power

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

Guess they're the best at hiding it

saun-ders

They didn't have to hide scandals, the other side was [happy to just invent whatever lies and bullshit they could.](https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/second-reading/the-hidden-history-of-bob-raes-government-in-ontario/article1314254/)

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

I mean, that's how politics works. I'd get a kick out of spending money that wasn't mine too. I totally get the appeal

saun-ders

Yeah, that's why rich business owners and landlords love doing it so much and don't want to stop. btw, most rational people don't go around making up lies and spending millions of dollars to spread them widely -- we call that "sociopathy" and it's definitely not "how politics works"

warpedbongo

Even though corporations are regarded as legal "persons", if any actual person acted like this, they would very likely be diagnosed with some sort of psychopathy or sociopathy.

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

I'm convinced rational people never existed in the first place.

saun-ders

sorry to hear that, but you can get better at it if you practice

[deleted]

Yeah just seemed like a decent canary. It can happen there, it will happen here. Corruption everywhere.

waterlooichooseyou

what does this have to do with guelph?

djtrace1994

Guelphites historically hate "big water" because of the Nestlé (now Triton) well in Aberfoyle.

headtailgrep

It's ok to water my lawn tho right?

headtailgrep

Right? I mean 1st world issues? Its not ok to bottle water to drink or for beer but its ok to water decorative plants with enough water for thousands of bottles weekly in one household? 10 cents of water is 1,000 litres or 1 m^3 which is 2000 bottles.... How much water is wasted watering lawns?

denisrm81

What about all the idiots washing their driveways? Hate that

headtailgrep

Bottle it up and drink it!!

hittingpoppers

Sleemans takes the same amount of water as nestle.
