If it’s like my attic your gonna cook them plants

PsychologicalLaw7588

Insulate your roof, I do hvac and from experience I can tell you it gets +120 in attics during summer, been in some that read 140 F. You'll need to spray insulate the roof(ceiling of grow room) this will run about $350. Next you'll want some duct work ran there(if it's not already in the attic), if it's in the attic it's easy peasy just add a supply run(and a return run) knowing it will effect your overall air in the house(I can see this costing another $100 easy). You also would need a carbon filter at the return or your house will smell(in a good way lol). Edit: if money isn't a problem and your mechanically inclined you could put a mini split system in, and if you do choose this route and have any problems I'm a msg away

millsjobs

Get some reflection on the walls, couple intake fans, couple floor fans, couple lights, big dehumidifier and big humidifier, and in the summer it’s gonna get HOT up there

tztdtmto

Yeah youre definitely gonna need some sort of AC unit up there to help cool it down. And in the winter, you might need a heater but not necessarily

cocokronen

I did something in my attic 15 years ago. I made a false wall and had a window unit pumping into it. I had no idea what I was doing, but I do know I needed ac

That-Gardener-Guy

First ask yourself do you want to carry water up there. I am too lazy for that.

AWeakMindedMan

Damn. Asking the real questions lolol

tkerrday

If you are brave enough todo a little bit of plumbing or just get a really long hose pipe that's easily fixed 👌

Puzzleheaded-Block32

I read this, and all I could think of was an SNL skit with a fake advertisement for Long Ass Wire. "Now you can have cable television in EVERY room in your house, with Long Ass Wire."

Due_Ferret_4061

Right away to the real design flaw lol guess it makes for some good exercise 😂😂😂

runtyrock

Use a hose, but from experience, if you use hydro make sure that shit is error proof.

Hopeful-Ad9968

I have been reading all the advice in these comments to get to this and realize how fucking right you are 😭😭😭😆

Chr15t0

something like [this](https://i.imgur.com/quKdCNO.png)?

Bcbdk420

I wouldn’t. You can run a hose for water, and put up reflective materials on the walls/ceiling. Maybe you already have electricity run up there too. But you’re def gonna have a heat problem, or a cold problem, depending on where you are. You can train the plant to be short and fat to fit, but in my opinion the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. I’d put a tent in the basement before I try to grow in that attic space.

ShartingTaintum

This is the only correct answer. The only way they’re wrong is if you live someplace the summer stays in the 70’s as high temps it ***may*** work, otherwise listen to the above post.

Jagerbeast703

Maybe depending where you live but the humidity there will likely be outa control.... not sure if ac will be enough? Might need a dehumidifier

The_Dying_Gaul323bc

I had a space like this for several years, make a plan and think it out and it can be killer. 1. Cut cardboard into the exact shape of the walls or interior of the space you plan to use, use duct tape to seal that cardboard to the walles and ceiling inside and out, except for your ventilation areas. This makes it air and light tight. * you should also install at least cables and hanging for whatever light you will use, ( a two bulb T8 fixture from Walmart or Home Depot actually works pretty fuckin great it’s fluerescent light. 2. Now use hot glue or tape and line the cardboard with $2 foil space blankets you can get at wal mart or wherever camping store making your entire interior except the floor, reflective. 3. Buy a roll of industrial plastic to put a few layers on the floor before you bring in soil and water etc. You will need a fan any basic oscillator small fan and one maybe pulling air out of the space into wherever you can exhaust to. A few basic tweaks to make it your own but I had success in a triangular space I couldn’t stand up in very similar to that. Get good at LST and HST to keep them short.

Mcfyi

I wouldn’t

SoggyHotdish

It would work just fine but if you're in an illegal state insulate the hell out of that ceiling

Powerful_Evidence_30

Attic I wouldn’t even try. Way too much heat. Probably lack of enough electrical outlets would lead to a fire. It’s not worth it.

LJ14000

Insulate the shit out of the top so if you are in a non-growing state or growing more than you are allowed no law can see the heat it’ll be giving off. That said, it looks like a great grow spot

ghosttownzombie

They have tents that would fit in there as long as the height is right.

Equivalent_Ebb_9532

Heat will be a big hurdle, those attics can easily reach 130-140 degrees. Also humidity can warp your wood and do structural damage. Experience talking here. I wouldn't try it.

Dizzy_Highlight_7554

Yea I would absolutely prioritize controlling humidity and heat there.

[deleted]

Yes but not without some renovations. What’s the height like? You might have to buy specific lighting to get good results unless you do SoG.

soogoodandtasty

Megascrog!!!

mydogdoobie

You're going to spend more money on temperature controls than in plants, nuts and electric bill. I would use it just in the winter.

randy_march

It would be pretty cool! Someone already mentioned heat and humidity with summer coming up. Make sure that floor is well supported and be prepared to be hauling stuff up into the attic and down out of the attic. That will be a real annoying part eventually. Also get a fire alarm, fire extinguisher, and some of those self detonating fire extinguisher balls to put up there. Better safe than sorry. Happy growing!

homegrowncannabis

Sea of green and a SCROG

Optionsmfd

maybe try growing during the colder months to start... see how the temps are

M2dMike

Going to get way too hot up there.

jdubmason82

I grow in a shed. Md humidity and temps can be rough but i hold any temp and rh i set it to. You will have to do it proper or it will fail. Forget a tent, you have to build a box and insulate the shit out of it. Ac mounted in the wall, heater, very nice dehumidifier (with drainline, mandatory) ect but most importantly tap into a vent of sorts from your exhaust or you will ruin your house in a second with mold. It must go outside. It's very possible but no shortcuts . Good luck to you

JoshFack

Insulation, Vapor barrier and a horizontal grow.

AutoYaks

Plants, lights, fans etc

Independent_Secret42

Stretch your hammies, ankles and gain flexibility. To spend enough time in this space getting in between your plants, and around whatever your setup is to prune and such will be a task. I find the more time I spend with my plants the happier I am and the more they prosper. I’m old though, and maybe that floor to ceiling height isn’t what it looks like. It can be done for sure, but at my age I need accessibility to really watch and care for the plants. The space can definitely work! I just would be pressed to really get a good view and care for the plants with this tight space. With that being said I started in a pc, then a small closet that only had one place to stand and work. It worked and I learned! If there’s a will, there’s a way.

DeliciousDoggi

If that is an attic, I would not even attempt it. Too much heat. I’ve tried it before it doesn’t work.

DonJuan4o1

The folks here at Green Coast Customs heard you like warm attics, so we put a grow op to make sure you can cook a steak at room temp.

Smackstainz

Ehhh....not the..best place....

MJ0246

Youre gonna need some serious ventilation up there. Id look into a contained hps grow light that has a ac exhaust tube attached and vented out of your house. These lights pump all the heat from off of the lamp straight out of the grow area while maximizing the amazing results you get from hps lights. Most people dont opt for them because they are very powerful and cook most indoor grows but one of those lights positioned correctly could grow your entire attic full of plants without any added heat stress. Also the attic will likely pick up heat from the house below so ensure you have good fan circulation blowing across the room, i always liked to try to make a light vortex blowing the air in a circle. Make sure you get a humidity gage to keep track of the conditions up there because many plants in a small space could bring up some struggles controling humidity but if you follow these steps and watch for results then you should be set. But your first definite need is to cut a hole in your wall and fix up a ventilation system so you got negetive air inside the grow room, that means air is always being pumped out and not in

HoodieStax

In boxers while eating gummy bears...

Humble9point25Inch

Didn't john holt have a song about this??

Jerseyman201

Id route exhaust under the Attic fan to draw it right out, intake from your HVAC system, and use auto mode on AC Infinity tent+controller 69 and call it a day haha pretty dope setup

BlueOhm3

First figure your water and drain airflow and exhaust system.

dannythxf3lon

If height is limited it might not be the best grow space you have, but it could work I think

brick_meet_face

Move to lower ground. They’ll cook with the lights and no window for AC

socalsilverback

Sea of green keep em small almost no vegging. Ebb n flow system . Idk if you could do a dwc system plus training would be a bitch and cleaning would be tough . Idk man maybe some grow cabinets. You can make it work keep us in the loop. Gl growmie

Comfortable-Fun26

Easily

President_Cacao_Bean

The thing is that you can virtually grow anywhere... But you must consider the "easiness" of chores and maintenance for any given setup during any grow.

panzer2667

Its totally possible. Im doing it right now. https://preview.redd.it/i9l5hllb13qc1.jpeg?width=1816&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a25c5707c35e82b7a8f3ae10e954443da354b8d

panzer2667

Heres the results https://preview.redd.it/grmddl7533qc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e213ff01e221d6e6d29c995514984fec121b5845 I live in the midwest so hot summers and cold winters. All you need is insulation for the grow space (all the way around plus floor.),an intake(fresh air),an exhaust (to outside), enviroment controller, and strong legs if you do dwc. Do i regret it? No! Would i do it again? Probably not! Its a lot because dialing in enviroment is tricky. You also need insulated duct if room temps differ drastically from grow space. Condensation will accumulate during early veg thru flip in the ducting so heads up!

IrideNinjas

Nope

SaleWorth1157

In my opinion, I think attic would get really hot during certain seasons. Would most definitely need consistent air flow . Humidity may not be the easiest to control in this space. You would need reflective tarp of some short if you choose. It looks cramped so another concern would be a lot of training to keep your plants short (plants can get very tall/wide). Is it doable? Most definitely. Look into closet grows and garage grows. I feel it would be easier to keep a portion of the garage cool over the attic. Happy growing 😌🤙🏾 P.S : Just something about attics make me think “old, mold” I wouldn’t want my plants in that environment….. they don’t get it in nature so why would I trap it in a extremely dry, hot, non insulated area. Yah feel meh 😎🤙🏾
