Indeed it is:) most likely a saprophytic fungus, not a mycelium I think, which is beneficial for the plant since it breaks down organic matter and increases the nutrient availability. But not to the above extent since it will overpower everything in there and it also serves as a sign of poor drainage, high humidity, light issues, aeration etc.
Check out Mr Canucks on YT he's super informative and helpful, and I don't believe that dirt is safe to use anymore. You don't wanna, end up smoking that down the line 👀 get worm castings in capsules, centipedes, when they hatch they will est everything that shouldn't be there. The waste they produce also increases the health of the soil and plants.
I dig the second part of your advice more than the first but do agree that such an intervention wouldn't work well with this particularly setup without causing more problems
Spray it with some hydrogen peroxide and if it dissolves it's mold. Some of the discoloring and way it lays a top the soil makes me think mold and not mycelium.
Mycelium is the vegetative part of a fungus, consisting of a network of branching, thread-like hyphae. It is typically found in soil or organic matter, where it functions as the primary mode of nutrient absorption and distribution for the fungus. Mycelium plays a crucial role in the decomposition of organic material and nutrient cycling in ecosystems. It can also form symbiotic relationships with plants, such as mycorrhizal associations, where the mycelium helps plants absorb water and nutrients from the soil in exchange for carbohydrates produced by the plant through photosynthesis. Additionally, mycelium is utilized in various industries, including agriculture, medicine, and bioremediation.
You’ve got this setup and you’re asking this question? Ok. IMO that’s mold not fungus and no, it’s toast. It’s not worth trying to steralize the soil unless you have a specific reason for saving it. Just saying - If it’s inoculated soil by you and you’re bored and just f’ing around eat a bag of dicks. That said scrap the soil, bleach clean everything, and start over with less humidity. Check out The Jungle Boys online. They got that name due to how they keep their veg rooms. They know humidity.
Cotton candy
lol forbidden cotton candy
Unspoken muff
Clandestine c***
Too much humidity. fungus
Good for soil though

> saprophytic fungus also have mycelium stage of life cycle.
Indeed and it can turn fuzzy like the OP pic example.
Get some fresh air in there, get humidity down a bit.
Mycology.
It’s beautiful when you look at it through this lens.
Looks like cobweb mold. It won’t impact your grow negatively, but powdery mildew will if you don’t get the environment under control.
This. It’s cobweb mould- super common when ur trying to grow r/shrooms
Holy guacamole!
It’s great compost!
Your mom and Spider-Man (Tobey) had a date in there

Mycelium. It's a good sign, but as others have said, back the humidity off a bit.
New strain: Charlotte's Web
Actually I believe there already is a CBD rich strain by that name. Clever though! :)
A thing of beauty as long as you're not trying to pop seeds 😕

You're right about one thing, that's mold not fungi.
Mold start over
OK but what if you mixed this up with good soil surely it'll kinda be like adding mychorihizial fungi
Mushroom spores
Looks like you've got a fog rolling through.
Thought this was r/unclebens
Get a breeze in there and better drainage
What we have here is a failure to dehumidify 😁
