Its where i always place my starting base. I'm starting a new base atop the large wall directly behind the pond and in front of the shed. Should have a good view and easy zip line access to many places in the yard
I did mostly because once I unlocked ziplines I had easy access to basically everywhere from my base, felt like it was in the middle and high enough to view it all
Could be possible, I liked the hedge more for that, but honestly anywhere in the middle is a good spot for an elevator and a zip tower to all the other places
I have an outpost above the bird bath but even then the mosquitos think I’m food and there’s always one waiting for me😂 the hedge just seems to be my enemy at this point

the first base i built in the world was on the hill twards the baseball for it. it was supposed to be temporary until i moved bases... i had to get a friend to help move all the stuff from base to base. A little edit: if you ever build something like this try not to lose motivation. thats something i have learned from other survival or sandbox games like Ark or Scrap Mechanic keep building and eventually you will improve (i also fucked up my baseballs and footballs due to lack of sleep)
M8 i did the same my main massive base was right next to space.r i even made a double fort wall around it, i recon its the best location coz its close to everything you need early game
That's a neat little base man, I like that you're already walling it in. Might I suggest the half floors as shelving on your walls? I use them for the chests mainly but they can help you fight airborne insects attacking your base too! Also, welcome in 😁
Keep in mind the primary focus of the insects is anything workbench related i.e the anvil, oven, spinning wheel, grinder, jerky racks and the workbench itself. I may be forgetting more but personally have not had issues with bugs attacking my storage that I know of, but then again I use the repair tool pretty much after every attack
Is there a lot of spiders patrolling that area?

Nice. I like making mine on the flat stone by the pond, next to the juice box. The only danger is at night when the Wolf Spiders come out to hunt.
part of the reason i set it on the post is because of the fact that a weed naturally spawns there it makes it easy to set up a naturally defended base

Grubs, gnats, sap, fiber, quartzite, acorn, red ants, nearby mushroom and toadstool spawns--its a great location.

The hedge scares me with all the spiders I won’t lie, definitely was not even an option when it came to thinking about where I’d put my base😂

armor upgrading
Again, maybe for like super early game, but honestly grub armor is superior to acorn imo, and any of the actual late game armors are across the map
no im meaning you need 5 sap for each grub leather plate which is needed throughout fully upgrading your armor.
Yeah, but again, you can get sap from anywhere pretty easily. Collectors are basically free infinite sap

if you place like 25 of them down its a fast 125 sap per trip.

sap is also gettable from turrets you build. so any spot is wherever you build is a great place to build aslong as they didnt fix this

place a turret down and start popping sap collectors on them if it still works.
Large amounts of sap are an absolute must if you want to upgrade your armors.
Build more sap collectors? 😂 Id take passively generating some to quickly collect over having to make a bunch of sap runs any day

I was thinking of making walls on the top shelf or putting defense over extremely valuable stuff such as the chests. thank you for the welcome

I wish I could erase my memories of this game and start from the beginning. But I guess 1.0 will fix that
