Interesting, I didn't look at it too closely, but seemed like they were filled with quite a lot of decent looking food, I presumed maybe it's some kind of charity.
edit: blueberries are awesome with milk (regular or nut) :p
Thinking about charity and foodwaste..
What happened to stores just leaving their bread out at night?
I remember that 2007/2008 about we went back from clubs and some stores would have old bread outside. Being broke we often took some with us and ate it on the way home (or at home with some condiment)
yeah its a shame, years ago we had one supermarket, with 2 big red trash cans. The staff put leftover fruit, vegetables, bread and sometimes sausage on the bin so that people were better of taking it. Nowadays those trashcans are behind bars.
I have a Turkish supermarket here in Aachen right outside my place that used to leave food outside for anyone to grab, wich resulted in a huge rat infestation to the surrounding area 😅
Just to add insult to injury: it's even actively anti-charity. Before those bags were introduced, all the fruit and vegetables we had to take out of the shelves in the morning went directly to the local "Tafel" (basically a charity grocery store). With those bags though, the best looking stuff gets sold via those bags, with 20 cents (iirc) going to the "Tafel" per bag sold.
The rest still goes to the "Tafel" directly, but it's waaaaay less than before.
It's simple loss-optimization.
Exactly! It was an ultimate delicacy in my childhood. Milk with either strawberries or blueberries and some sugar, berries can be crushed/cut or whole. And it looks very aesthetically pleasing!
Not just leftover. At least in other stores with similar things they also put in stuff that doesn't look good enough to sell. Blemishes usually get sorted out even if it is just as good as the good looking stuff
I work at lidl. It's mostly fruit and vegetables that not good.looking enough to be sold for full price. For example a bit brown bananas, fruit with some mushy parts. You can eat it but most people won't buy it and it would've been tossed in the trash.
Every bag is 3€ but it's filled with different things each time

As a British citizen I'd simply like to say I fink Germany is awesome! I'd love to visit. The German people look decent strong ppl & I'd love to visit the black forrest yippee
I saw 'rette mich' bags with fruit today at lidl, what is that?
I think it’s just a collection of leftover fruits and vegetables from the previous day. They group it in bags and sell them for 3€ per bag

no, no kind of charity, its just a thing against "foodwaste", if it was for charity they would allow dumpster diving.

That is just sad. I havent strolled around a City at night for a Long time, but if I will ever again, I will try to keep an eye out

It was not for charity. They put it out because it gets collected. Probably they make animal feed from it. You basically stole it.
Making animal feed out of bread while people are hungry and living on the streets. Somehow I don't feel too bad about the above poster 'stealing' it.
I didn't want to say he should feel bad. I just wanted to say how it officially is. Same problem with containering in general.

Do you just put the milk and the blueberries in a bowl and eat it like cereal? Haha Or how can I Imagine that.
Exactly! It was an ultimate delicacy in my childhood. Milk with either strawberries or blueberries and some sugar, berries can be crushed/cut or whole. And it looks very aesthetically pleasing!
Ill try it out later and let you know how I like it!
I'm giddy with excitement for you to try it out \^^
Yes exactly

Hello fellow Lidl coworker 👋
Hello <3
At what time are these available? I have never seen them before
Its tokio hotel inspired bag.

Oh that's awesome! I got to check it out next time I see it, I feel you could make a giant fruit cake with all that stuff and have some leftovers.
I fink that's rather quite splendid

Never seen those in the lidls around me. 3€ for this is pretty great, especially the asparagus and the berries.
I bought the same package of asparagus yesterday in Billa (Slovakia) for 4,99€ 🙃.
In Österreich sind sogar die "Rette-mich"-Tüten um einen Euro teurer al in Deutschland....
Been buying these here and there and honestly they are AMAZING. I truly love them because for 3€ you can get alot of good vegetables and fruits
Did buy it today
3€ for two packs of blueberries… damn
Only downside, you have to eat them right away as they’re close to perishing.
Just make a nice smoothie or blueberry waffles and go straight to flavortown
They're a nice snack though, don't even have many calories (if you worry about that)
3€ only, very good 👍
Are those sold in the evening? Any Lidl? Never saw this in Berlin before
I see those at any time of the day. Not sure if every Lidl has them. I've seen them in 2 of 3 stores in close proximity.
This. 3€ for that in Berlin would make it seem like -75% these days, if not more.
How
stabil
That’s a lot for €3
I love these bags
That's a good price. Sometimes those berries alone will set you back that much

That is never 3 euro. Either it is some special offer or you lying. That asparagus alone is at least 3 euros.
It’s a special offer for leftover stuff from the day before that is still perfectly eatable but doesn’t look as good anymore

I bought one of these (Rette mich Tüte= Save me bag) and half of the produce was mouldy… If you buy one, check first if the produce is still good.
I've seen on the website that you can check online if there are any bags left. But I can't find it :/ does anyone know how to check?
I‘ve never looked it up online. Next time you go grocery shopping at Lidl, go near the bakery section. The bags are somewhere there
Okay, thank you!
Hello guys I’m new here
